A/n: sorry it's been awhile everyone I'm working on updates, last February I lost my dad, and just before that my girlfriend broke up with me. So I've been dealing with some stuff, and I feel I can finally get back into writing stories. So sorry if my writing sucks for the first chapter
This is an AU story of Harry Potter being a member of the armed forces. I will be reworking the Hogwarts attending age to 14 - 22 although Harry never received his Hogwarts letter instead attending Valley Forge military Academy. This will be taking place during the 4th year when the triwizard tournament takes place. And yes there will be some names you'll recognize, but it will just be Leroy Jethro Gibbs and his wife and daughter not the entire NCIS team so that's why there is no crossover tag. We will start off with the first chapter laying a little bit of the framework for the story. And anything previous to the time skip will be recounted in flashbacks.
SGT Potter Chapter 1
November 1st 1981
SURREY England, number 4 private dr
0800 Zulu Time
Vernon Dursley is awoken by his wife calling for him to come downstairs. He rolls out of his bed and starts to head down the stairs to see what his wife is freaking out about.
"Vernon, how could those freaks just leave us with their child after they go and get themselves killed?" Petunia says as she hears Vernon walking down the hallway. He walks into the kitchen when he sees a wicker basket sitting on his kitchen table and hears sounds coming from the bundle of blankets.
"Petunia dear what are you talking about, whose child is that?" Vernon asked, confused by all of this, "My dear sister and her husband got themselves killed, and we got stuck with their freakish child." Petunia practically vomits out as if she had been poisoned.
"OH we will only be stuck with him until we're able to send him off to military school. I have a friend who lives in the United States who may be willing to take him off our hands, let me go make a phone call." Vernon says with a gleeful smile as he walks to the entryway table to get his contact book from the drawer.
Vernon places the call to his friend that lives near Valley Forge Pennsylvania. And they agree to take Harry from the Dursleys, but they decide to fly across and take Harry from the Dursleys right away. Vernon and Petunia were more than just too happy to be rid of the boy they saw as a freak of nature if he's anything like his parents.
Time skip 16 year to Harry age 17
June 10th 1997
Valley Forge Military college dorms
1030 Zulu time
0530 Eastern time
Harrison Gibbs awakens to the sound of reveille, he sits up and reaches over to turn his bedside light on. He promptly gets up and walks to his dresser to grab his issued basketball type shorts and tee shirt, having never been malnourished Harry stands at 6'2" with the lean build of an athlete. His dark brown almost black hair is in the standard military short hair cut.
After changing into the PT outfit Harry starts walking down to the Parade field to join the rest of his classmates in PT.
This school being affiliated with the military there are two divisions. First is the standard classes, or classes for nomag students. Harrison is part of the mage division, obviously the section that after middle school is entirely devoted to magic. Graduation age from the academy highschool is from 17-18 depending on when your birthday is.
As the students run their laps, there is a buzz around the older students as graduation is tomorrow. With graduation from this school you can either continue on at the college level or go to join the US Military. Harry decided to follow the same route as his adopted father into the Marines but his job would be magic infantry. This being a new idea for the Magical government of the USA to deal with magical terrorists like England had dealt with until 16 years ago, the thinking being that this would allow them to deal with the terrorists on their own soil and the threat of magical subversive elements in other nations.
After the rum Harry goes and showers then changes for the last day at the academy, after tomorrow he ships off for basic. In other parts of the world there are old men plotting and wraiths planning.
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
Headmaster's office
June 10th 1997
1030 Zulu time
1030 Greenwich mean time
Dumbledore paces his office thinking about the upcoming school year and security for the Triwizard tournament. Just as he finishes the final lap an owl flies in through the window to deliver a letter from the head of the DMLE. He retrieves the letter from the owl and promptly opens and begins reading, what he reads he does not like.
" Dear Albus,
I will not be able to spare many if any aurors for the security at Hogwarts during the triwizard tournament. Unfortunately with all the budget cuts to the DMLE we do not have enough manpower to be able to spare the forces you requested for security at the school. I will reach out to my American counterpart to see if they have any way they can provide assistance. I will send a letter later with their reply

Album sits at his desk rubbing the bridge of his nose as he thinks back on the letter and the budget issues of the DMLE. While he thinks his mind wanders to thinking of the charge he left with relatives that disappeared and did not come to Hogwarts. Turning he looks out the window of the office overlooking the black lake, he sees the squid of the black lake come to the surface then submerge again.
June 11th 1997
0930 Zulu time
Albus is sitting in the headmaster's office working on paperwork when another letter arrives. He takes the letter from the owl and checks the front. Looking at the handwriting he realizes it's from Madam Bones and promptly opens it.
" Dear Albus,
The American magical government agreed to send a security detachment to Hogwarts, these young men and women will be from the US Military magical divisions. So they will be trained to at least the level of a hit wizard. They are sending 2 squads, one from their army and one from their Marines. They will be arriving sometime in October before the names are drawn.

Albus smiled as he read the letter. "Well Fawkes at least we'll have some security other than the teachers here." He said to his familiar as he went through his desk drawers to get parchment and write a letter back to Madam Bones.
Small time skip 4 months later (A/n: yes I know military training is not only 4 months but sped it up since in the US military some branches you can go to boot camp your junior year and then go to career school after you graduate from high school. And this is the last time skip and yes Harry's name is actually Potter-Gibbs. And yes shannon and kelly gibbs will be alive and will be magicals.)
October 11th 1997
Kings cross station
0830 Zulu time
Corporal Harry Potter-Gibbs and his squad mates arrive with the Army squad to kings cross, the superiors of both squads said there was supposed to be a contact to meet them and take them to the transportation to Hogwarts. Looking around they see someone standing at the archway between platforms 9 and 10 looking in their direction. When the person in question took notice of the squads they started making their way over to the group of Military personnel. The captain in command of the detachment walks over to greet the person.
"Hello my name is Captain Carter, you are the point of contact we were supposed to be meeting correct?" Captain Carter asks the young man in front of him.
The young man looks at all members of the US Military," Yes sir i am the liaison between your group and the Government. My name is Percy Weasley. Now if you follow me we will head to the train that will take you to Hogwarts." He turns and starts walking towards the archway between platforms 9 and 10 then disappears through the barrier. The 24 soldiers and Marines watch as their contact disappears through the barrier, after the Sgt from alpha fire team walks over and reaches his hand through the barrier. Pulling back he motions for all personnel to move forward.
As the two squads walk through the barrier their hands are resting on their 1911 side arms ready to draw and fire on any attackers. On crossing the barrier the Marines and soldiers see their liaison standing next to a beautiful late 1800s red coal fired steam engine with 1 carriage attached since they are not carrying many passengers.
Percy looks back at the security detachment and smiles, "Welcome to platform 9 /4, the gateway from muggle London to Hogwarts. We thought you might like the ride to rest and relax before you get into the security assignment."
Sgt Becker looks at Percy and then back to the train, "Alright squad 1 takes the first two compartments and squad 2 takes the other two. Check your gear and make sure it's ready to go upon arrival. Cpl Gibbs radio to European Command let them know our status."
Percy looks at the aforementioned Cpl and notices the name tape of his uniform has Potter-Gibbs on it, glancing at the Sgt and back to the Cpl Percy asks, "your name is Cpl Potter-Gibbs, why did the Sgt only say Gibbs?"
Harry glances back at Percy as he walks forward to the cabin his squad is in," Because I go by my adoptive family's name. Potter I was told by my dad is my birth family's name, but I don't remember them as I'm told they were killed by a terrorist when I was only a year old. And my mom had some news papers from back then that reported on the down fall of the terrorist and covered the legal proceedings against his cohorts." Harry walks into the compartment with his squad and pulls the pack off his back and takes out a military radio to communicate with European Command and starts to set it up.
Percy looks at the strange device, "That won't work here, strong magic areas mess with electronics like that device."
Harry finishes the set up as the train starts to depart the station, "You've never been to the USA then, every piece of nonmag tech is made to be used in the presence of magicals as well. Now if you excuse me I have a report to make to Command."
Harry pulls the hand set out of the radio, " Mage division first squad to awacs overlord, please patch me through to Eurocom." The static on the radio clears and a voice replies, " copy mage division hold one while we connect you to the comm-net." A few seconds later awacs overlord comes back, " awacs overlord to mage division first squad Eurocom is listening, send traffic."
Harry nods at hearing that, " This is Cpl Harry Gibbs with mage division first squad reporting in, having made contact with British magical government contact we are in transit via steam engine to Hogwarts. According to the data we gathered we will be arriving in 10 hours. How copy Eurocom?" Harry finishes his report waiting for confirmation from Command. " Eurocom to Cpl Potter-Gibbs, we copy the report check in with awacs overlord at 2030 hrs Zulu they will take all check ins from 2030 hrs tonight until end of mission. Eurocom will contact you if the mission changes, Eurocom signing off." Harry sits back and starts to pack the radio up, he motions his squad Sgt over. " Sir, we are to report to Awacs Overlord at 2030 hrs Zulu." Sgt Becker turns to Harry," Copy Cpl Gibbs, now check your gear and relax. We have a few hours before our arrival." Harry checks his Mk18 Cqbr and the rest of his gear before sitting back and dozing off.
October 11, 1997
Hogsmeade Station
1800 hours Zulu
Harry is awoken by the training pulling into the station, and looks to see the rest of his squad mates throwing their plate carriers on and getting their packs and weapons ready to move out. Harry gets his gear on and lines up with the rest of his squad mates moving out of the train carriage and onto the train platform. Percy meets the alpha and bravo squads on the platform seeing these people in a mix of muggle and wizard equipment, he turns to Sgt Becker, "Hey Sgt Becker, what is with all the equipment these men are wearing? All of it seems really odd, those long items that they have their hands on and that vest are particularly odd. I have never seen wizard wear like this."
Sgt Becker looks at the equipment all his men are wearing and then looks back at Percy Weasley, " first Mr Weasley those are called firearms, these men can hit someone from 600 meters away with their long guns. The weapons on their hips they are trained to hit someone about 50 meters away. Those vests have been tested with the protective inserts to protect from one killing curse, and protect from multiple piecing hexs. These men are also trained in battle magic so their pistol holsters also hold their wands." Sgt Becker finishes as both squads fall into formation.
Capt Carter walks up to Sgt Becker, " Sgt are both squads assembled and ready to move out to the school?" Sgt Becker snaps to attention and salutes," All personnel accounted for and ready to move out sir." Capt Carter turns to Percy," we are ready to move out Mr. Weasley please lead the way to the school."
Percy turns to Capt Carter and indicates a path from Hogsmeade station," please follow me to the carriages, they are this way." Percy starts walking the path up to the carriages, but when he arrives he turns around to see all both squads spread out to each side of the trail, their long guns at a low ready with the point man having theirs up and sweeping. Percy goes to open the door to a carriage when Capt Carter walks up to him, "Sorry Mr Weasley my men are not comfortable riding in those, you can ride up and we will meet you at the front entrance."
Percy looks at the soldiers and Marines and then turns to Capt Carter," Well sir then we can all walk to the school together, I will walk with you up to the school."
Percy falls instep beside Capt Carter, who looks at Percy then calls to his men," let's get a move on, we have half an hour till we're supposed to be walking in the doors to greet Headmaster Dumbledore." Both point men take off at a quick March pace, both squads spread out. Percy, not being used to this pace makes it about halfway to the castle before he slows down, Capt Carter sees him and motions the men to slow to a standard patrol speed. "Mr Weasley are you alright?" Capt Carter asks as he falls into step with the slower man.
Percy looks at the man leading this detachment," Yes, I'm fine, just didn't realize how fast your team can move. I am not an athlete, I can walk to the school just fine but at the pace your team was setting we would've gotten there in 8 minutes." Capt Carter looks at the young red headed man before laughing," Yes, all these men are able to do a mile in 8 minutes in combat gear. Don't feel bad, my men are trained hard and are some of the best that MACUSA has to offer. The fact you were able to keep up with them the way you have speaks of your abilities as well."
Percy looks at all the men that are still moving at a moderate pace when he notices them closing on the front entrance to the School. He proceeds forward when the rest of the men come to a complete stop. " Welcome gentleman to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry." Percy proceeds to pull his wand out and with a flick the doors to the castle open revealing a fairly large entry way. All the men file in, Capt Carter moving up beside Percy when he approaches a man with a long silver beard and the strangest outfit, a pair of striking blue eyes takes note of the third eldest Weasley son approaching with Capt Carter.
Dumbledore turns to Percy and takes in the men with him, finding their clothing and equipment to be odd compared to the British aurors and hit wizards standard apparel. He turns to the man beside Percy, " Hello I am Albus Dumbledore, I welcome you to Hogwarts."
