Chapter 32 Samurai and Hunters Unite

It was crazy to think so much happened in one day in Tokyo. However, finally the day of the Samurai's arrival passed. After the attack on Tokyo by the crown Samurai it would still take time to recover. It could take months or even years to fully repair the devastation they brought. It didn't help how de unified the people were. But, there was one group willing to help.

Nozomi waited for a member of that group. She was shocked at who answered her call.

"Hoy, there. You are Miss Nozomi, right?", Isabeau said, awkwardly.

"Where's the others?", Nozomi asked.

"Well, Flynn is in Shinjuku. Nanashi has demanded a rematch with him. Walter and Navarre are busy play testing Navarre's new deck. Then Jonathan…is looking for a former fellow of ours.", Isabeau explained.

"I see. Well, I'm glad at least one of you could make it.", Nozomi replied.

"So, what exactly are we doing to help Tokyo?", Isabeau questioned.

"Well, I found some guys to help with repairing of Ueno and Kinschio, but there's some rowdy spirit dueling anyone on sight and claiming their souls.", Nozomi explained.

"I see so we simply need to defeat it then?", Isabeau replied and Nozomi nodded.

In Shinjuku…

Flynn sat down at the table with his arms crossed. His presence drew the attention of many Hunters due to his increasing fame. Nanashi felt weird not being used to having so many eyes in his direction. He looked over to Flynn who looked calm despite all the stares. Flynn looked over to the Hunters.

"I didn't think I'd draw so much attention here.", Flynn said.

"Well we did all see you defeat a massive spirit…", Manabu replied, sweat dropping.

"Not to mention you and your pals crippled the Ring of Gaea and Asura Kai too in only a day. It's only natural that you'd garner interest after that.", Nikkari added.

"I suppose so…it always feels like everyone's eyes are always on me back home as well.", Flynn sighed.

"Don't you like it?", Asahi questioned, perplexed.

Flynn looked off to the side. Despite his calm expression all the attention directed at him still made him anxious. He's never been into crowds.

"What's wrong worried everyone will see me kick your butt?", Nanashi questioned with a confident smirk.

The others minus Flynn sweat dropped at this. Flynn's expression didn't change as he turned his attention to Nanashi.

"Are you really that confident?", Flynn questioned.

"You caught me off guard before but this time I'm going to kick your zombies butts!", Nanashi proclaimed.

"I see…You think you can beat me.", Flynn said as he set down his deck.

"This is going to be a massacre…", Manabu said, with a funny look.

Flynn looked through his deck before pulling out a single card.

"This is the card I'm going to beat you with.", Flynn said as he revealed Samurai Skull, making the others gasp.

"You can't be serious. That isn't even one of your strong monsters!", Nanashi said.

"I'm plenty serious. I have decided how I'm going to win.", Flynn replied with a straight face.

The intense aura around him confirmed his seriousness. Afterwards he shuffled his deck.

"As if!", Nanashi replied, skeptically.

"Come on, Nanashi! Don't lose to a four starred monster!", Asahi cheered.

"Duel!", Flynn said, making the Tokyo residents sweat drop.

"Hah! With this you can't summon your tuner! Just try synchro summoning through this! Then, I will set two cards and end my turn.", Nanashi said.

"He has changed his deck from being type dependent because of our last duel. Little does he know that won't be enough to stop me.", Flynn thought as a smirk gradually graced his lips.

Boss wasn't exactly sure what to expect from Flynn in a duel due to never seeing him duel before.

"I draw.", Flynn said.

Flynn very slowly and dramatically revealed Zombie World which made those in the know sweat.

"I shall activate Zombie World turning all monsters on the field and in the graveyard into zombie monsters.", Flynn said.

"Now, I activate the effect of Marionette Mite allowing me to discard it and gain control of a zombie or fiend type monster you control. I choose Wanghu.", Flynn said as he pointed at Nanashi's monster.

Nanashi was taken aback not expecting him to use a card from his hand to take his monster.

"I will tribute your monster to summon Red-Eyes Zombie Dragon. Due to his effect, one zombie monster can be used for his full tribute.", Flynn said.

"I shall attack you directly with Red-Eyes! Inferno Necro Blast!", Flynn declared as Boss sweat dropped at hearing him use attack names like Asahi.

"I activate my counter trap Negate Attack! Quite obviously negating your attack then ending the battle phase.", Nanashi countered,

"A bit early for that don't you think?", Flynn said.

Nanashi snickered at the comment,

"Who said that's my only trap for you?", Nanashi questioned.

"We'll see then. I shall end my turn.", Flynn said.

"Now, it's my turn again. I draw!", Nanashi said.

"I will set a monster then end my turn.", Nanashi said.

"That's it?!", Asahi questioned and Nanashi's eyebrow twitched.

"Surely he has something more planned, Asahi.", Manabu replied.

"I draw.", Flynn said.

"I shall summon Samurai Skull.", Flynn said as a few of the others looked wary.

"That's the card he said he's going to win with!", Asahi said.

"I activate the effect of Samurai Skull. When it's normal summoned I can send one zombie monster from my deck to the graveyard. I choose Plaguespreader Zombie.", Flynn said.

Nanashi looked more wary now hearing this.

"Now, I activate Book of Life allowing me to special summon one zombie monster from my graveyard and banish one monster from yours. I will resurrect Plaguespreader Zombie and banish Wanghu.", Flynn said.

"Now, I shall tune Plaguespreader Zombie with Samurai Skull! Ruler of darkness slumbering within the depths! Rise up once more to reclaim your kingdom! Synchro summon! Level 6! Revived King Ha Des!", Flynn chanted.

Seeing the Synchro monster hit the field instantly drew in the Hunters attention.

"I will attack your facedown monster with Ha Des! Underworldly Tyranny!", Flynn declared.

"You destroyed my Masked Dragon when it's destroyed I can special summon another another dragon monster with 1500 or less attack.", Nanashi said.

Flynn simply smirked as he crossed his arms and Nanashi suddenly felt wary.

"No you won't. Ha Des will not allow it. Decree of the Dead! When he's on the field no monsters my zombie monsters destroy by battle can't activate their effects.", Flynn countered.

Those watching looked stunned. It was the first time they've seen Ha Des' effect in action. Nanashi touched the table looking down at the synchro monster wide eyed as he read the text "Negate the effects of Effect Monsters destroyed by battle with Zombie-Type monsters you control.".

"You've got to be shitting me…", Nanashi murmured.

"He's uses that card as Synchro fodder every time I've seen it so I never even knew it had such an effect!", Nanashi thought, incredulously.

He flinched at the intense stare from Flynn.

"So, how will you beat Ha Des, Nanashi? I'm interested to see you try.", Flynn said, giving off an intimidating aura which made Nanashi sweat drop.

"As if I'll lose to your Synchro fodder! I'm not out of this game yet so don't get a big head!", Nanashi said.

"We shall see. I will set a card and end my turn.", Flynn said.

"I'll show you what I can do, Flynn!", Nanashi thought.

Flynn noticed the determination on Nanashi's face, smiling.

"I draw.", Nanashi said as a slight wind kicked up.

The others minus Flynn and Nanashi looked stunned to see this.

"What the hell?", Manabu questioned.

"I activate a card that will really throw you for a loop! Polymerization as you know it lets me fuse monsters on my hand or field.", Nanashi said as Asahi looked excited.

"Yeah, show him your new monster, Nanashi!", Asahi said.

Flynn was genuinely surprised to see he got a fusion monster. He wondered when Nanashi acquired it.

"I fuse Divine Dragon Ragnarok with King of the Swamp to fusion summon King Dragun!", Nanashi said.

"How did you get this monster? I thought you didn't have fusion monsters.", Flynn asked.

"Got it from some trading here. The guy who had it before didn't have any of its fusion materials so it wasn't too hard to convince him to trade it for another card.", Nanashi explained.

"I see…it's fusion materials are rather specific.", Flynn replied.

"Hah! But, I have King of the Swamp so I only really need one of its materials. Now, watch this! I activate its effect allowing me to special summon a dragon monster from my hand. Thankfully for me your field spell does not extend to my hand.", Nanashi said.

Flynn nodded in confirmation and the others looked stunned.

"I will special summon Odd-Eyes Dragon!", Nanashi said.

"Now, I will attack Ha Des with Odd-Eyes Dragon!", Nanashi declared.

"Then, you take damage equal to half its attack points!", Nanashi said.

"Then, I will attack Red-Eyes with King Dragun!", Nanashi declared, destroying both monsters.

Nanashi smirked confidently after clearing Flynn's field of monsters. Flynn seemed amused seeing this.

"Now, I end my turn.", Nanashi said.

"I shall draw.", Flynn said.

"Now, I shall activate my trap Needlebug Nest. It allows me to send the top 5 cards of my deck to the graveyard.", Flynn said.

The cards sent were: Battle Fader, Mirror Force, Mezuki, Mezuki, and Plaguespreader Zombie.

"I shall banish Mezuki from the graveyard allowing me to special summon a zombie monster from the graveyard. I choose Ha Des! Arise!", Flynn said.

Nanashi snickered in annoyance as Flynn's monster arose again.

"I shall summon Zombie Master and I activate his effect allowing me to discard a monster to resurrect a level 4 or lower zombie monster from my graveyard.", Flynn said.

"I shall tune Plaguespreader Zombie with Zombie Master! From the dark depths of the grave arise, great dragon noble even in death! Your dreadful roar signals your enemies doom! Synchro summon! Level 6! Doomkaiser Dragon!", Flynn chanted.

Nanashi became wary seeing Flynn bring out his ace.

"I activate the effect of Doomkaiser allowing me to special summon a zombie monster from your graveyard. I choose King Dragun. Roar of the Living Dead!", Flynn said.

Nanashi looked nervous as Flynn's field presence continued to build.

"I activate the effect of Plaguespreader Zombie in my graveyard. I can special summon it from my graveyard in exchange for returning a card in my hand to the top of my deck and when it leaves the field it's banished. I will banish my other Mezuki to special summon Samurai Skull.", Flynn said.

"This does not look good…", Manabu commented sweat dropping.

"I shall tune Plaguespreader Zombie with Ha Des! Majestic dragon, awaken from your long slumber your power is needed once again to protect the innocent! Spread your brilliant silver wings and strike down your enemies like a vibrant shooting star! Synchro summon! Level 8! Stardust Dragon!", Flynn chanted, making Nanashi feel an immense deja vu.

Once again he saw Ryou's image overlap with Flynn's own.

"Stardust Dragon attack Odd-Eyes Dragon! Shooting Sonic!", Flynn declared.

The two monsters destroyed each other, but knowing Flynn's deck it was likely he could make it rise again somehow.

"I shall attack you directly with Doomkaiser Dragon! Death Spectral Howling!", Flynn declared as Nanashi flinched.

Flynn's field was completely stacked with monsters leaving no hope for a counter.

"I shall attack you directly with Samurai Skull!", Flynn declared fulfilling his prophecy.

"Damn…that was overkill, dude.", Manabu commented as Boss looked completely stunned by Flynn's power.

"H-how?!", Nanashi questioned as he pushed himself up with his hands looking down at the table.

"He completely annihilated me!", Nanashi thought.

"I can see you've made some interesting changes to your deck. I think for now you should experiment more with what you can accomplish with them.", Flynn said as he pulled out another deck that wasn't his own.

The deck was in an ornate gold and silver deck box with green jewels. This instantly drew their attention wondering what was in it. Behind Flynn for a brief moment appeared the former protector of the sacred deck, Barcha.

"Can you recognize if he truly is King Aquila?", Flynn asked the spirit.

The Hunters looked nervous seeing the spirit which looked over Nanashi. Unexpected Barcha smiled, confusing Nanashi.

"He has the same soul I can feel that much. Even then he is still a boy right now. He is not ready to bear such a responsibility.", Barcha replied and Flynn nodded.

Nanashi looked annoyed at being referred to as merely a boy by the spirit. He was taken off guard when Flynn held his hands making him lightly blush in embarrassment. Boss was about to say something before Flynn spoke.

"So, it is true. That only means that protecting you is even more important. Nanashi, I shall be fully confident in your abilities when the day comes when you can defeat me. Because there will come a day where you shall face an adversary more powerful than me.", Flynn said, with a serious expression.

The Hunters were nervous at the idea of facing a threat stronger than Flynn, though it was most certainly inevitable. Asahi's eyes were all sparkly at the idea of them having such an adventure.

"Till you are ready to carry the burden of your great destiny I shall protect you as is my duty. My king.", Flynn declared with a light bow, which just made Nanashi more embarrassed.

"Hey, don't just say stupid stuff like that! You're just going to swear your allegiance to me that easily, idiot?!", Nanashi questioned, though hearing Flynn's intentions made him feel assured.

"It's my duty. King Aquila is the one who formed our kingdom and the Samurai. So, obviously I shall protect you.", Flynn replied.

"What a lucky bastard…", a Hunter commented.

"Would you really be willing to protect him? He's not even from Mikado.", Boss questioned.

"With my life. The future is important. He as the reincarnation of King Aquila is far more important than me.", Flynn replied, with extreme seriousness stunning them.

"Don't say that you, idiot! You are important! You beat the King!", Nanashi replied, angrily.

Flynn was stunned by Nanashi's concern and anger.

"A Samurai is supposed to put their life and souls on the line. That is what is expected of us.", Flynn replied, matter of factly.

"That sounds rather fucked up to me.", Nanashi replied, greatly confusing Flynn.

"I don't understand what you mean.", Flynn replied.

"You shouldn't have to just risk your life for someone based on some duty. It should because you want to.", Nanashi explained.

"I do want to. I became a Samurai because I want to protect people. I also want a bright future for our peoples. I believe you are important for that future.", Flynn replied, honestly.

Nanashi was taken aback by Flynn's extreme resolve. They were stunned seeing that Flynn was completely serious about sacrificing himself for Nanashi if needed. It was definitely quite the massive pressure. He didn't know what he'd done to deserve such lofty expectations from someone like Flynn. He didn't realize how much stock Flynn was putting in him.

"I have been thinking about the future a lot lately. There needs to be someone to protect the innocents if…something happens to us. That does not have to be you if you don't want to. I intend to do everything I can to prepare those after me to face the evils of this world.", Flynn explained.

"What made you think of all this all of the sudden? You were mostly just focused on your mission before.", Nikkari questioned.

"I almost lost my soul.", Flynn admitted, simply.

Everyone in the room became quiet and fearful. They had seen how incredibly powerful Flynn was and what he had accomplished. They could not even imagine him losing. Those from Kinsicho looked panicked knowing the most about just how skilled Flynn was. Nanashi sweated nervously at the added context. That's what Flynn meant before. He noticed Flynn looked pale and there was heavily veiled fear.

"If that spirit had asked for my soul instead of Beelze I would be worse than dead right now…Issachar was not so lucky and did indeed lose his soul. One day even if it is not today or tomorrow eventually we will all lose like Issachar and our commander. So, the next generation needs to be ready to fight when that day comes.", Flynn explained.

"I still want to fight anyway. It's way better than just letting evil bastards and spirits do whatever they want. Even if I have to risk my soul.", Nanashi replied.

"What are you saying, Nanashi?! You don't have to fight! Especially if there's spirits that strong!", Boss replied.

"This is exactly why I need to be strong. So, I can protect you and Asahi if someone strong attacks! Not having someone strong enough to fight if something happens to Flynn is just plain stupid!", Nanashi replied, making Asahi blush.

"What kind of spirit almost beat you…?", Manabu questioned wearily as Flynn looked down.

Flynn explained what he believed happened to Issachar to their horror.

"I failed him…and I don't want to fail anyone else. I would never try to recklessly risk Nanashi's life. I simply intend to prepare him to fight when he needs to. If him fighting is not necessary I will. I can promise you that.", Flynn said.

"What are you wanting to do?", Boss questioned as Flynn looked over to Nanashi.

"I want to see if he can be approved by the angels or the Samurai. Then, he can go with me to Mikado whenever I need to go there. I still have duties back home which won't allow me to stay in Tokyo 24/7. Then, I can try to help train him more consistently. I need to get in all the practice I can for the Hunter Preliminaries anyway.", Flynn explained.

"Your taking him to Mikado?!", Boss questioned.

"I'm not keeping him there. It's simply for when I need to pass by there. I'm not usually there for long. You see my grandfather is back in Mikado and every day that passes here months pass in Mikado.", Flynn explained.

Boss remembered what Navarre said the fate of Flynn's parents were. It was likely Flynn only had his grandfather left.

"Oh…I see. So, you go up to see him?", Boss replied.

"Yes…I'm afraid he's the only real family I have left. I want to spend time with him while he's still alive, but I still have my duty to uphold.", Flynn replied.

"Gosh, why do you even bother, man? You can just stay in the paradise up there with your old man.", Manabu questioned.

"Because I must. I cannot abandon people in peril! That would be immoral!", Flynn replied.

"He really is going out of his way to help others, isn't he? He's so stupidly selfless. He doesn't have to do any of this. He just wants to.", Nanashi thought, sweat dropping.

Flynn hardly seemed real. The idea that someone who wasn't even from Tokyo was going out of their way to help them when he doesn't even have to. He was by far the most selfless person Nanashi knew.

"If the angels accept you then no one in Mikado will give you trouble. I'm afraid the masses have a rather negative image of Tokyo because of the Black Samurai's deeds and the former king's propaganda. Not to mention more Samurai will be willing to protect you.", Flynn explained.

"Are you sure the angels wouldn't just smite him where he stands?", Boss questioned, greatly confusing Flynn.

"Why would they do that? They know about Nanashi. That's why I was able to get ahold of Barcha to test them.", Flynn replied.

The others looked rather alarmed knowing the angels knew. Flynn didn't understand why they seemed wary of the angels at all.

"You…really don't know do you?", Boss questioned, making Flynn more confused.

"I don't know what?", Flynn questioned.

"Do you know why the world is like this?", Boss questioned.

Flynn was silent thinking of how to respond. He tried to recall the story of Mikado's founding and the new information he knew.

"King Aquila founded Mikado on top of the firmament created by Stardust Dragon when it protected Tokyo.", Flynn replied.

The Tokyo residents looked increasingly surprised by Flynn's lack of knowledge on what went down.

"Flynn, do you know who attacked Tokyo or why?", Nikkari questioned, drawing his attention.

"No. I just know what you told me.", Flynn replied.

"Flynn…it was God. Your God who ordered Tokyo's annihilation.", Manabu revealed and Flynn's calm expression finally gave way to pure shock.

"What?!", Flynn questioned.

In Ueno…

Nozomi gaped at just how quickly Isabeau defeated the spirit Asura. She was definitely glad the Samurai were on their side. The other spirits looked wary of Isabeau after watching her OTK Asura.

"Is that all?", Isabeau questioned the stunned Nozomi.

"Y-yeah! You did really well.", Nozomi replied, feeling a bit fearful herself.
