Hey! Hope you enjoy!
Merlin elbowed Gwaine in the ribs as the knight tried to stifle his laughter over the sight in front of the pair.
"Gwaine! You're going to get us caught!" Merlin hissed.
Gwaine's shoulders shook with silent laughter at the warlock's distress. "That just makes it all the more fun, Merls!"
Merlin rolled his eyes which were glowing liquid gold. They watched from the crack in between the large drapes as Arthur's quill flew behind a stack of scrolls on the king's desk. The blonde looked up from a treaty he had been reading over, groaning in exasperation as he began to search for the writing utensil.
"Where'd the bloody thing go now?"
Arthur bent over to look under his desk for the estranged quill and with a flick of Merlin's wrist, Arthur was sent tumbling to the floor with a cry of alarm. Gwaine slapped a hand over his mouth when the blonde tried to pull himself up from the floor, but the scrolls littering the surface swiftly slid under his hand and he went down again, the rolls of paper raining down on him and going everywhere.
The king growled and rolled to his front, reaching for the nearest scroll only to barely brush it and have it roll farther away seemingly on its own. Arthur managed to get to his feet without much incident and Merlin allowed him to collect all the fallen scrolls and set them back on his desk. As the king sat back down, another flick of Merlin's wrist caused his inkwell to be just a bit closer than he had thought and his hand bumped it, shattering the glass vial and spilling the midnight liquid all over.
"By the Gods!" Arthur cried in frustration. He headed towards the chamber doors. "George!"
Gwaine was already two steps ahead of the blonde. A few coins slipped into his hand assured that the servant was nowhere to be found when the king needed him to clean up after the destruction Merlin and Gwaine were causing.
"Where the hell is that imbecile?" Arthur muttered to himself as he trudged back over to his desk to look tiredly at the mess all over the floor.
Or, at least he tried. Merlin's eyes glowed a bit brighter and one of their dining chairs was suddenly right in Arthur's path, causing the man to trip and nearly go sprawling face-first in the ink. The blonde whirled around and kicked the leg of the chair in anger, splintering it off.
"Come on!" he growled, casting the now broken piece of furniture aside.
"Good thing Merlin can't see this. I'd never hear the end of it," Arthur muttered as he slumped back in his chair and attempted to rescue some of his documents from the inky mess. Merlin winked at Gwaine, putting a finger to his lips and grabbing the knight by the wrist. His eyes glowed brighter once more, and the pair suddenly found themselves right outside the royal chamber doors.
"See what?" the raven asked, opening the door with Gwaine right behind him, barely managing to hold a straight face.
Arthur sputtered, clearly not having anticipated getting caught in the middle of his mess. Merlin looked from the broken chair, to the spilled ink, to a scroll Arthur had neglected to pick up off the floor, and then settled his husband with an amused smirk.
"What'd you throw a temper tantrum about this time, love?"
Arthur glared at him. "I did no such thing! This infernal-"
"Aw, if you needed help using your inkwell, you could have just asked, Princess. You didn't need to kick a chair over it."
Arthur opened his mouth to respond, but promptly, shut it, understanding dawning on his face.
"You little…I had work to get done, you idiots!"
Merlin and Gwaine shared a smile. "Should'a thought about that before you saddled us with giving Lord Godwyn a tour of the citadel last week, mate. Everyone hates him and you know it!" Gwaine said, crossing his arms and leaning against the doorframe with a smirk.
"I am your king! I can do what I very well please and you took an oath to carry out my orders without question," Arthur fumed, "And you Merlin! Don't think just because you're my husband I won't put you in the stocks! I assume it was you who was the mastermind here anyhow, seeing as I doubt Gwaine can even read let alone orchestrate this."
"Hey!" the knight protested.
Merlin suppressed a smile as he put his arms around Arthur's neck. The stocks were an empty threat and they both knew it. Arthur didn't have the heart to put him in the stocks anymore.
"If it makes you feel better, I'll go track George down to clean this mess up. Then we can kick Gwaine out and come to a truce, yeah?" Merlin said, raising his eyebrows suggestively. Arthur huffed, but placed his hands on Merlin's hips anyhow, pulling him into a kiss that quickly turned into a trail down the raven's jaw and neck.
They broke apart as Gwaine wolf whistled, sending the spouses a cheeky grin and wiggled his eyebrows.
"Out Gwaine!" Arthur roared, throwing a scroll from his desk at the knight's head. Even after the door closed, the couple could hear Gwaine roaring with laughter. No doubt, Arthur would hear about it at training tomorrow.
As he turned back to Merlin, kissing him softly and gazing into his now blue eyes flecked with gold, the king found that he really didn't care.
I don't really know what this was, but I hope you enjoyed anyhow!
