Right paddle stared across the playing field at his opponent.

"What?" asked Left.

"You know how we just serve the ball and it bounces off the sides? What if we take away that rule and open up the play a little bit?"

"I do feel claustrophobic at times," Left admitted. "It bet it would add a level of unpredictability."

They changed the rules and Right served. The ball angled toward the bottom of the screen and disappeared, not even returning after an hour.

"You're right, that WAS unpredictable," Right agreed reluctantly.

Lesson: Sometimes rules are there for a reason.
