You pillow talk to me about the men who try to get in between us
They buy you bags and jewelry, yeah
They think your kindness is so weak
Know you don't give it up so easy, baby
But you just wanted my attention
You just wanted my affection
You got me tattooed on your mind
You just want me all the time
The Weekend's lyrics came blasted out of the speaker as Miguel prepared himself for another round with the punching bag
Breath in
Left jab, right jab, left outside hook
Breath out
Right Jab, left jab, right uppercut
Breath in
Left knee, right knee, left side lick
Breath out
Right knee, left knee, right kick the chest
"That's enough for the day" said Johnny as Miguel panted as the two of them finished the workout. Miguel was thankful that Johnny was there to set his limits for him, he hadn't realized that he was drenched in sweat, to the point that it was staining his clothes. Nor had he realized how much his back hurt, it had tightened up on him and his limbs were numb and shaking from the effort he had been putting in.
Miguel licked his suddenly dry lips and he felt a small trickle of vomit fill his mouth as he dropped to the ground. He grabbed his water and quickly wasted out the bile from his mouth, drowning out the taste with water.
"You ok? How ya feeling?" asked Johnny
"Pretty good, my back is a little sore and I can feel my arms and legs shaking even if they're too numb to feel at the moment" answered Miguel honestly.
He made it a habit to not lie to Johnny about how his body felt. Johnny spent hour after hour making sure that he was taken care of, no point in lying when Sensei knew how he felt almost as well as he did.
"That's good, tired and numb is a sign that things are strengthen back up. If you were feeling as good as normal, I would have to push you harder" joked Johnny
Miguel plopped down on the ground and Johnny reached into their cooler and tossed him a protein shake. Their rented physical therapy gym was kept at a cool 70 degrees and yet Miguel had never felt hotter in his life.
Gulping down the thick 'vanilla' favored shake, Miguel managed to wash away any remaining taste of the vile bile that had filled his mouth previously.
"So, how are things going with Tory?" asked Johnny
"Um, good I guess" shrugged Miguel
"Oh come on, don't give me that shit" replied Johnny, "I'm not your mom, you can tell me anything"
Miguel chuckled before letting out a groan, "I know sensei, but you know that some things need to remain private"
Johnny rolled his eyes, "I'm not asking you to tell me if you're boinking her kid, just give me a general whatever about how things are going"
"Well, we've been having a lot of fun since I got out of the wheelchair" admitted Miguel
Johnny wagged his eyebrows and Miguel blushed before saying "Come one sensei, it's not like that. I mean we've been able to go out on dates, go out to get food, go to the movies without the chair getting in the way"
Johnny gave Miguel a big 'knowing' smile and said "I bet that's not the only thing that the chair isn't getting in the way of anymore"
Miguel blushed a bright red before throwing the empty bottle of his protein shake at Johnny
"Aye, I just don't want you doing anything that I wouldn't do" said Johnny defensively with his hands up before another smile graced his face, "And definitely nothing that I wouldn't do"
Miguel let out a roar in mock anger as he jumped to his feet and ran after Johnny, the two of them both having smiles on their face.
With Sam:
Sam was unsure how things went so far in the opposite direction for her in the past couple of months. Tory had started the fight that had ended with Miguel getting kicked over the railing and breaking his back. And yet? Once the court case came and went, she was being painted as the villain. She had been accused of taking advantage of Miguel's drunken state while she, herself, had been in a drunken state.
The lawyer had caught her off guard, she had answered truthfully because she was sure that lying in that moment would have made it worst for her. Her decision to tell the truth had backfired on her and when the news came forward with the results of the trail, revealing to the world what had sparked the 'Brawl' as they dubbed it and her part in it. The nicest way to put it would be to say that the media had chosen to bury as a selfish, rude, man stealing young lady.
And for once in her life, it didn't matter that her father was a hero and celebrity in this part of town. His reputation didn't matter when you were the 'villain' of the Brawl, one that saw dozens of kids get hurt.
Sam sighed as she slide out of her car, grabbing her car from the backseat before clicking to lock up her car.
She heard the screeching of tires peel behind her as she walked away from her car and then the shattering of glass behind her. She dropped to the ground just in case they decided to throw more than one of whatever it was that they had thrown. Sam didn't want to open her eyes, because while she was sure that it was her car that had been hit with probably a brick, opening her eyes and seeing that it had been her car would make it real.
As the sound of the car driving away faded, Sam slowly opened her eyes and pushed herself back up to her feet. She didn't want to turn around but she had to see if it had actually been her car.
Her fears had been confirmed as she looked had saw her backseat was filled with glass as they had used a large brick to smash her rear windshield. She felt tears filling her eyes as she took in the sight of her car being damaged so casually. She looked through the back passenger window and saw that the brick had a note taped to it.
The note was rather short and simple, the motivation was clear to same by the message that had been taped to the brick. The message read "Drunk Slut", like she had thought, the message was simple and to the point. She knew why they had picked this message, it told her that they believed the trial had produced a truthful take on what had happened.
She was the drunk slut who had imposed her will on a drunk man unable to defend himself. Sam wiped away the tears that had leaked out of the corner of her eyes and she took a deep breath. Her father had always said that level heads would prevail and Sam wanted to believe that in this moment, a level head was what she really needed.
Ok the brick was in the back of her car, you'd have to crawl through and over glass to get to it, that meant she could afford to wait until after school to deal with this. She would call the cops and let them do whatever it was that they needed to do.
Sounds like a great plan Samantha
Taking another deep breath, she turned back away from her now damaged car and walked towards school. She heard the bell ring and she turned on some speed sprinting as fast as she could toward the building. But it didn't matter as she still got caught in the line to get inside of school.
Security had really beefed up after the Brawl, not that she could blame them for overreacting. A couple dozen kids get hurt on your watch and you have several thousand dollars worth of damage done to your school, and of course there was the tiny event of the literal All Valley Karate champ being kicked over the railing and his back snapping like a twig on the stairs.
So, Sam was very understanding of the long line, the new metal detectors, the wands used to find anything hidden, the searching of her book bag. It was not just happening to her, but seemingly to every student who wished to enter the school. But by the time that she had actually gotten into the school, she was close to 15vmins late.
However, there was now a strict no running through the halls policy in place and based on all of the cameras that they had installed, it looked like they were going to be able to enforce that rule easily. Thus, Sam was forced to actually walk to her class and when she arrived, she was nearly 20 minutes late.
Coach Kelly glared at her when she knocked on the locked door to try to get into the classroom.
"Ma'am, you are nearly 20 minutes late, you better have a really good excuse on why you weren't on time" demanded the Track Coach turned Math Teacher.
"Um, I got held up in the security line" answered Sam
"A likely story, don't think that I don't know who you are Samantha. You're a troublemaker, why don't you march down to the principal's office and see if he believes your story" said Coach Kelly before slamming the door in her face.
Sam did as she was told, making her way to the principal's office, but she couldn't stop the tears from flooding past her eyes this time.
This is the worst day ever
With Kreese and Robby:
This is the worst day ever
Robby was sure that his thoughts were 100 percent accurate and nobody would be able to tell him anything different. This fucking Kreese guy was insane, he was sure of it. The two of them sat in a 24/7 diner, Robby had ordered a burger and fries with a vanilla milkshake and Kreese had gone with just black coffee.
"You know, you remind me so much of your father when he was your age" commented Kreese
"I'm nothing like him" hissed Robby
They were in public, so he was trying to contain the bubbling anger that was threatening to explode at being compared to his deadbeat father. Not having a father was better than having him as a father. There was a reason that Robby had chosen to be nearly homeless and live like a squatter than to live with the worthless pathetic shit stain of an excuse of a sperm donor that was his father.
"See that anger, that fight is what makes me compare you to your father, but you have a level of control that he never managed to display" continued Kreese
"I am nothing like him" repeated Robby
"If you say so kid" countered Kreese, "But we have important things to talk about than the past"
Robby looked confused, "The past, you brought up my dad"
"Yes, your father is past Robby" said Kreese with a sly smile, "I am here to talk about the present and future ... you"
"I don't understand" said Robby
"The world is in a state of flux, Robby. You may not feel like because you're young. But people who are my age, we are fading from this planet. Look at the president of our country. Biden is elderly man, who they openly make fun of for making old man mistakes. By the time his term is over and he has to rerun for office, you will able to vote. Do you think that you're going to vote for him?" challenged Kreese
Robby found the answer came to him rather easily, "No, I wouldn't vote for him"
"Exactly, he like so many before him and even myself, has made the mistake of growing too old. You see Robby, the worst thing that you do on this planet, without talking about the extremes, is over stay your welcome. The world and society, will pass you by without ever blinking" said Kreese
"This is a really cute speech and all, but what does this have to do with me?" asked Robby as the waitress came and placed his food in front of him and the lone cup of coffee in front of Kreese.
"I am an old man, who will carry on my teachings? Your father and his class refuse to honor my lessons. Even if I could force then to, why would I settle for mediocre talent when the ultimate prize sits across from me" said Kreese
Robby scoffed, "You only want me because my dad told you 'no', well like father like son then"
"I never offered your father this, I taught him how to defend himself, how to fight. But I never offered him the keys to the kingdom Robby" countered Kreese, "Your father, Johnny, was my best student. Not because he was the most talented or the hardest worker or the smartest fighter. He was just too dumb to know where his limits were. He had a fire inside of him that nobody else could match, he was just too dumb to know when to quit"
Robby didn't say anything and Kreese continued
"But that's not you Robby, now is it? No, you don't have a rich step dad who is going bail you out at every single curve that life throws you. You have nobody, yet you have become somebody. Isn't that something special? You have been given every chance to be be set up for failure, yet you're not a failure. You are clever, resourceful, you are a survivor"
The words were chosen so purposefully by Kreese, that he felt that he couldn't have crafted better pot of bullshit to feed to Robby if he tried.
"I don't get what you're trying to offer me" said Robby and Kreese smiled as he knew that he had him.
"I am offering you everything Robby" stated Kreese, "When I am no longer here, everything bares the Cobra Kai logo, will be yours"
Robby's eyes widen and Kreese suppressed the urge to smirk, it wasn't quite time for that.
"But what about my legal troubles?" asked Robby
"Don't worry about that" said Kreese, "Tory Nichols was just as bad as you, yet with the help of my influence among the legal system and hospitals, she was made out to be the victim. The same will be done for you, we just have to start off with some good will on our end"
"Ok, so how do we do that?" questioned Robby
"We turn you in and do what has laid out for you, we blame Samantha LaRusso who at this time is a drunk sex offender based on the way that we've managed to spin things against her" said Kreese
Robby felt his heart skip a beat and his breathing hitched for a second at the name, but he remembered that she had cheated on him with Miguel. She had caused the fight by being a drunken bitch.
"I'll do it, the LaRusso's don't deserve any kindness from me" said Robby
And this time, Kreese allowed the smirk to grace his face, ah how he loved when things came together.
With Tory and Miguel:
The pair of them laid on a blanket on the beach, they were holding hands and looking up at the pink sky as the sun set on the day.
Tory wiggled over closer to Miguel and she looked at his face as she leaned her head on his shoulder, placing a soft kiss on his neck. He turned to face her and their lips met in a soft embrace, the world outside of the other person fading as got lost in the moment.
When they broke apart, they kept looking into the other person's eyes. Neither said a word as they kept their eye contact. Finally, Tory burst out laughing as the moment got too serious and she couldn't help herself.
"I love the way that you laugh" said Miguel without thinking and Tory had a look of surprise on her face.
"Oh, breaking out the L word already Diaz?" she teased him
"Might as well, you practically live up my ass" countered Miguel as he wrapped his right arm around her waist and pulled her closer to him. She cuddled into his side, both of them watching the waning sunlight paint the sky.
"I like it here, 'up your ass' as you put it" said Tory after a moment.
"That's good because I want you there. I ... I'm selfish I guess. I don't want to share you with anyone else" admitted Miguel
"You couldn't get rid of me if you tried" said Tory as she leaned her head on his head, the heat from his body soaking into her own. But it was comfortable, like they were meant to share the heat between the two of them.
"So, I'm stuck with you?" asked Miguel
"Yes" said Tory matter of factly
"Good" said Miguel
Silence fell on the pair of teenagers as they finished watching the sunset before darkness took over the sky and the warmth that had once filled the beach turned into a chilling coolness as the spray of the ocean drained the sandy shores of any heat.
But the two of them were still basking in the warmth of their body on body warmth, shutting out the coolness of night.
"What else do you love about me?" asked Tory after nearly thirty minutes of silence.
"I love the way you laugh, the way you smile when we go out to eat, the way your eyes light up whenever I order your Spanish food for you, the way that you care for your brother and mom" listed off Miguel
Tory shifted and looked at Miguel in the eyes, "I love that you're one of the nicest people in the world Miggy, I love that you don't blame me for you getting hurt, I love that you can see a kindness in me that I'm not sure that I see in myself, I love -"
Miguel leaned forward and kissed her, cutting off her words for the moment as he didn't know how to say what he wanted to say. So, he hoped that she could feel what he meant in the kiss.
When they broke apart this time, Tory grabbed him by the face and she looked him in the eyes, "I love you Miguel"
Miguel gave her a big smile, "I love you too Tory"
