Smash: The Alternative Brawl
Chapter 5: Link & Zelda
Leaving the assembly hall. Although they are use to the crowd especially Link being in these events for now 3 years and Zelda being here for 2 but the exhaustion of fans around the world screaming and cheering their names. They couldn't help but need to get away.
"Do you want to come to the garden outside of the G building?" Zelda asked while walking through the hallway passing through the B building.
"Yeah, it will help me clear my mind."
Continuing through the hallway watching some of the Smashers helping the newcomers like ness helping Lucas, Marth helping Ike, and Samus watching Snake who was staring at the pictures of the previous tournaments? Before they were about to approach them, they walked off towards a different direction with Snake heading up the stairs.
"Strange." Link and Zelda thought out loud.
"Maybe they were making sure he was heading towards the right direction?" Link thought out loud.
"Not sure. It is pretty different to have a soldier amongst us. Yeah, we have Ike who is a warrior and a mercenary but something about that guy has something different but I can't put my finger on it."
"What do you mean?" Link said while passing the area where Snake was at a moment ago.
"It's like… I don't know. Maybe it's due to his strength or stride?"
"Strength?" He raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah, he looks pretty strong and intimidating."
"Yeah, maybe but once I learn how to use the Tri-forces power, I'll be stronger than him."
"Oh Link." She shook her head with exasperation.
"What?" He turned his head to look towards her while access building C.
"You're still thinking of your battle against Ganondorf 100 years ago." Then watching him shrinking away with him saying nothing, she thought right. "Link, I don't blame the way how you feel of getting defeated by him but you must know that you can't allow that to bring you down. There are better ways than beating yourself up."
"Then what do I suppose to do?" He nearly shouted. Then suddenly she noticed through his emotions there was something else that was bothering him.
Walking through the dinner room in building D, then through building E where they seen Mario and Luigi playing air hockey with Captain Falcon cheering Luigi on, then stepping through building F and G. Walking out into the bright beautiful Sun which was shining bright through the garden of colorful flowers, they seen princess Peach dancing with the butterflies by the bird bath.
"I let you down." Link finally said. "I let myself down. If I knew how to use the Master Sword, Hyrule Castle would have never gotten taken over by him. I was weak, I was powerless, I was—" Then he got interrupted with Zelda pulling him into a hug.
I know what's on your mind. They both stood next to a stone vase that held the flowers in. "You want to save me, you want to be my second in command so you have my back, you want to learn your final smash so nothing happens to me ever again but Link." She glanced into his scared blue eyes with the Sun shining on her pale skin which made her shimmer by the light. "I have gotten a lot stronger. You do not need to worry about me." She placed her finger tips on his high cheek bones. "All you have to worry about is mastering your sword, get stronger so you can claim your spot against Ganondorf and so you can beat him."
Without saying a word, she was able to see rejuvenation running through his eyes like there was a new hope.
"Don't worry Link, I will head to Master Hand's office and speak to him about extensive training to enhance your abilities."
"Thank you so much Zelda." He smiled while giving her a hug with her doing the same.
"But Link." She placed her fingers under his chin and positioned his head to have him look her into her twinkling blue eyes. "I want you to fight to be a lieutenant. To remind you, there's only six of us and the six of you will be chosen between us captains and so, I do not know if I will be able to have you under me."
"Wasn't it you who said you will be able to handle it? As long I know you are saved, I don't care who I will fight under."
"Are you sure?" She asked.
"Yes."
Then with her giving him a big smile, they both got interrupted by a loud laugh from a man from the shadows.
"I laugh all the time whenever I see things like this." The man continued to chuckle while clapping his hands.
"Ganondorf!" Link said his name in a menacing whisper.
"Hahahaha!I love when someone has to boost your confidence in order for you to get stronger."
"What are you doing here?"
"Heh. To see how your 100-year sleep was after when I placed my blade through your chest."
He wasn't wrong. After Links first battle against Ganon and loosing. Waking up into the care of Master Hand giving him a reason to fight again promising him strength. From that moment of getting defeated by him, he hasn't forgotten and through these tournaments, he has gotten stronger but he always wondered. What did he do after putting him in that 100-year sleep. Knowing the power Ganondorf has, he has it in his mind that he didn't just do nothing but it was hard to prove it.
"What did you do to me?" His voice started to raise.
"Oh? What could you possibly mean?" Gannon said with sarcasm even though Link was not having it."
"You placed your blade through my chest yes, but what did you do?"
"Why are you asking? You should be happy. I given you a little gift but by your expression. You don't know what I am talking about. Tisk Tisk. What a shame. After all these years of having your master sword, fighting in the Smash tournament, and now we are able to summon our final smash. You're honestly telling me you haven't master your power? Maybe I was wrong about you Link."
"What are you talking about?" He asked confused with all of his puzzle talk.
"Well, let me speak to your beloved princess. Have you felt anything different?" He glared towards Zelda. Then her nervous eyes moved towards Link then back to Ganondorf which confirmed his curiosity. "Well if this the tournament you both learn your full potential, it will only be time when my… present will make its appearance." To empathize his meaning, he grabbed his chained golden watch and tapped on the hour and minute hand. Continuing to laugh again, he disappeared into the shadows until he left out of view.
"Damn him to the Goddess." He said frustrated of him controlling his life until Zelda started to see the darkness running through his soul.
"I bet that is what he injected him with. The same thing he did to me those many years ago but I was able to control it." She thought to herself while feeling Link's dark aura starting to for.
