Hi, everybody! To those following this story, including those who started reading it, I want to thank you for your patience. But during my time focusing on the other fics I have with me, especially life in general, I have decided to give The Walking DOOM a major revamp.
Now, I know some of you readers have taken a liking to certain aspects I made throughout this story, but please hear me out. I've considering restarting this fic for a long while now, but I wasn't sure how to go about it.
Certain aspects didn't make sense when I looked back at each chapter now, such as how Doomguy and Dr. Samuel Hayden became introduced to this universe's characters and how they acted toward one another.
Doomguy honestly wouldn't care if he and VEGA had told Rick's group about the events of Doom 2016, but he won't tell them much further about his past as a UAC Marine.
As for Hayden, he can still be a secretive douche toward Negan and the Saviors. Not to mention a hyperbolic capitalist who often schemes for his benefit and perhaps others if the situation arises. Others are a bit peeved of me incorporating him into the story, but I don't care what they say.
It's my story, so drop it. Go and find another fic to fill for your insatiable needs.
Hayden is stuck here because of a freaky accident when he tried to recreate the Argent Tower's energy transmission device. The Crucible became too overpowering within the magnetic trap of his machine, warping Hayden out of his universe.
The whole begrudging alliance between Hayden and Negan is something interesting to me. They both strive on ruthlessness to pursue their goals, know how to influence people, and do what they believe is good. As for the Slayer and Rick's group, though. Well, they both do what's necessary and keep that raging fire within themselves to keep the evil from reaching everything. Maybe something even more major while the story progresses onward.
Plus, I wanted the Marauder seen as a rival character rather than an enemy type. Like, the thing about the Marauder being a group of resurrected and corrupted Night Sentinels doesn't suit me. I've always thought the Marauder was just this one hybrid who kept a consistent reason why he hates the Slayer. That's why I have it be an actual competition for the Slayer.
Most reviewer complaints who have read my chapters didn't like the Slayer struggling against him, but that's the point of challenging the Slayer to things he will adapt to later on. Especially with one who is just as powerful and volatile as the Slayer is in this story. To me, the Marauder is an entity of few words, always to the point, and outright evil (and competent) on a scale few others can even touch.
Some of the nightmare fuel I've embedded in this story has gotten some readers disgusted yet yearning for more on what our characters will face next, particularly the Hell invasion at the Hilltop Colony, which involved so much subhuman content. But again, my goal is to stir surreal discomfort and disturbing horror into this story because it's often engaging to see humans get pushed.
What I WANT to do is redo portions of the plot. That way, I wouldn't want there to be unnecessary drama. But mostly, keep some of the things I like unchanged. And just because I'm renewing a story doesn't mean I've become finished with it.
I'm still thankful that some of you want this story to keep going, and I promise you, it will. Things like college and work have taken my time to write this story, but I won't quit until I make things right.
Anyways, that's what I wanted to say. Thank you guys again for using your time to read this note. I just needed to take the time that I had. Then go back to where I was and get out of this writer's block. I finished eight to eleven revamped chapters and got rid of the things that made the story feel stale and boring. But I'll try not to rush too much once everything gets kept in place.
Laters!
