After her last class of the day, Hermione told Ron and Harry that she had to go take care of something and that she would see the pair at supper. Rushing up the many flights of stairs, she paused to catch her breath in front of the gargoyle guarding the Headmaster's office. Giving the password, she climbed the stairs hoping that Professor Dumbledore was in his office. Hearing a faint answer to her knock she entered the room and found the headmaster sitting at his desk facing the door. The man greeted her as walked further into the office, "Ah, hello Miss Granger. What can I do for you?"
The teen girl stopped in front of his desk before she answered, "Sir, I would like permission for myself and some of the other girls to be able to go to muggle London to look for dresses for the Yule Ball. While there are dress robes, they aren't very flattering to every girl's body shape and they don't have many options. I have a list here of all the girls that wish to go as well as written permission from their parents and letters saying that my mum and Susan Bone's aunt will be with us in London." As she spoke Hermione handed the headmaster each piece of parchment in her hands.
The man looked through the papers while the young teen spoke and took a few minutes to think before replying, "I don't see why you girls can't go. I see names from every house on this list Miss Granger. I am proud of you girls for working together and including every house. Ten points to each of you. Now Miss Granger, I can also see that you have already thought of a day to go as well and worked out schedules. On that Saturday all you girls can come up to my office at the appointed time and you my floo to floo to the Leaky in London to meet Madam Bones."
Hermione smiled and thanked him before turning to leave. Realizing that she still had some time before supper, she headed to the library to see if the book she had been waiting on had been returned. Entering the room, she walked up the front desk and inquired after the book.
Madam Pince smiled at her favorite Hogwarts student. Miss Granger was always so considerate with the books and her rules. She watched as the young lady took the book from where she had placed it on the counter and walked to one of the tables in the back to read quietly. She was such a good girl. Madam Pince went back to watching the other troublemakers so she missed when another student walked in the same direction that Hermione Granger had walked in.
Harry and Ron were sitting in the common room, for once getting a head start on their homework. They didn't want Hermione to give them her look of annoyance. It was scary. Ron looked up from his history of magic essay and spied Harry reading through his. Once he saw that his friend was finished reading through it he asked him a question, "Hey mate? Who do you think Mione got to be our dates for the Ball?"
Harry shook his head and put his parchment away, "I don't know Ron. It's probably another Gryffindor. Knowing Mione she talked a couple of the Gryffingirls into going with us. She knows that we are useless talking to people."
Ron nodded, "Yeah you're right about that. We would definitely mess something up mate, especially me. Why do you think it's one of the Gryffingirls though? It could be a Ravenclaw or a Hufflepuff." He didn't say it but he was hoping it was a Slytherin but he didn't want to get his hopes up and then be disappointed and let that effect his date's experience at the Ball.
As if reading his thought Harry sighed, "I know who you want it to be mate and while I believe Hermione is a miracle worker, I believe that might be too far out of her reach. As for why I think it's a Gryffingirl, Hermione would have the easiest access to ask. She'd also have a greater chance of sucess. While girls from other houses might say yes, it's more likely that a Gryffindor girl would since they know us a bit better."
Sighing, Ron slumped his shoulders, "I know, but a guy can dream. Also that makes sense about our dates being from Gryffindor. We will just have to see when it comes time for the Ball. I can't believe I'm saying this but we should get back to our homework. We did promise Mione that we would get some of it done and I don't want her mad at me."
Nodding Harry agreed and the pair returned to their homework, not realizing that their conversation was overheard by some Quidditch players. The chasers of the Gryffindor quidditch team were quick to head up to Angelina's dorm before they started laughing. Collapsing on the beds, the girls were quick to laugh for a few minutes before quieting down. After they finished laughing, they started talking about what they just heard.
Anglina started speaking first, "Those two are adorable. They have no clue who Hermione has gotten to be their date. Did you see the look on Ron's face when Harry mentioned that Hermione couldn't have gotten who he wanted for a date. The boy has it bad for Bulstrode."
Katie nodded, "That he does. I think they'd be a cute couple. If only people could get over the whole Gryffindor vs Slytherin rivalry. I mean aside from a few snobs, Slytherins aren't bad. Besides we can name a few Gryffindors who act worse than the snobbiest Slytherin."
Alicia nodded in agreement, "True. Do you think Harry fancies the girl Hermione got to be his date?"
Thinking for a minute, Katie nodded, "I think so. I've seen him stare in her direction before when he thought no one was looking. But at the same time, he could have just been staring into space daydreaming. I think they too would be a cute couple. She is one of the only people who never treated Harry different just because he is Harry Potter."
The other girls nodded and then started talking about who they were hoping would ask them to ball and spent the rest of the time before heading down to the Great Hall for supper on the subject.
Meanwhile another Weasley was sitting in an alcove on the fourth floor alone for the first time in a while. Fred Weasley was thinking about the upcoming Yule Ball. He knew who he wanted to ask but just didn't know how he was going to ask her. He needed a few minutes to himself to think, so he had told George that he would meet him at supper and headed for the alcove. He knew that he could just go up and ask her but he think he could handle it if she said no. There was also the issue with her being his little brother's best friend. He didn't know how Ron was going to react and he didn't want him to be upset if he asked her. He may like to play jokes on Ron but he was still his brother and he didn't want him to be upset with him.
He decided to just try and get Hermione alone and ask her and then talk to Ron. If his brother had an issue with it, he would try and work it out with him. While he would love it if Ron was happy for the pair, neither one needed his permission to go to the Ball together and Ron would have to get over it. That decided Fred left the alcove and headed towards the Great Hall to meet with Fred. He needed his twin's help to get a certain muggleborn alone.
Hey y'all I hope you liked it! Don't forget to review and tell me what you think please!
