"So these will protect the planet like a force field?" Ianto asked as he picked up a small disc the size of a hockey puck. The meeting table covered with them. The Shadow Proclamation still explaining their uses as they tried to negotiate a deal for their use.
"These will be dotted about four standard spaceship lengths apart, like a net around the planet. Any and all vessels entering or exiting will pass though them and get a ping. If it is authorized, nothing happens. If it is not authorized… it will instantly get a Shadow Proclamation fine for being there, it will be hailed by the defence system telling it to fuck off before there are consequence and we will send officers after the vessel now marked to intercept and arrest whoever had ignored said warning if it did not depart the area immediately." The Shadow Proclamation Agent explained with a huge hand waving over the table's map of the planet "by offering you our full coverage, we can also determine better the weather patterns forming. Ms Toshiko here will have full access to them to build some weather models and start getting a feel for them. In time… you will have predicted weather. So you do not have to leave an area due to the lightning storms. You will know not to be there in the first place that day."
"And in return for this amazing offer?" Ianto asked, looking over at Jack who was in the corner with John as the two of them tried to lever open one of the devices they had managed to swipe off the table, feverishly working with a blade.
"You train our men for half the price of the Agency."
"Same numbers as now? Same contract but with a halved figure?" Ianto said instantly, making sure he did not suddenly have twenty of the things to train.
"Agreed."
Ianto blinked, and then nodded "Good deal. Yes, good deal for both of us. I stand alongside you Brother."
They shook on it, the Judoon puffing up with delight as Ianto used the traditional words to complete a transaction. No paperwork needed. IT was binding already, instantly. Of course…there would be paperwork anyway. This is the Shadow Proclamation after all.
And that is how they got security for the planet that was both recognisable to others as unwavering but also ensured that the Shadow Proclamation, the Universal Police Force, was on speed dial. The booming voice of Judoon threatening life and limb amused the kids no end when they were played it.
Good deal.
And those who tried to stand before them now?
Well.
Ianto had his Legion.
.
.
It was early hours of the morning about four weeks after the incursion, most of the planet asleep in this sector. Ianto waited patiently as Jack laboured, then the baby came out of the birthing canal a good five hours after Jack had first confided in Ianto that he had begin his labouring.
Owen was more nervous than the both of them put together and as the little boy started his little cry Ianto found himself weeping with delight, lifting the little boy up to examine him in the light "Oh Jack. He's perfect."
Jack rested.
.
.
News travelled fast and soon the place was heaving with sound, joy and gifts. Amilie accepting things with good grace like it was her baby. Jack and Ianto were amused by this, watching as the twins simply ignored everyone and sat peering at their little brother with open adoration.
Thank the Gods.
It had been a worry, if they did not like the baby, what they might do in retaliation. To see them happy was a real relief to both men who had never voiced their fears to one another. It was becoming apparent that the children were strong willed and with Jack's DNA added in to Ianto's, both were also extremely clever, sly little bastards.
Of course, I think we can all agree that this is also a Devil Trait so… well. It was nice. OK?
Whitt arrived with raw excitement, rushing to congratulate, gush and cuddle. The baby got a cuddle as well, after Jack was over the shock of a grown man holding him whom was not his lover. But you know, they felt similar. Jack knew as Ianto aged it would be gracefully and he would always fit in his arms. And Whitt is a lovely man really.
"What the hell is that noise?" Amilie asked, her hands on her hips as she rose to glare in the direction of outside.
"Singing?" Ianto asked, canting his head.
They all walked to the glass and opened the blast shutters to find the Judoon all outside with hands clasped tightly serenading them. Think of death metal, breath song and a little bit of choking thrown in, that is what is sounded like.
Ianto gushed with delight.
Amilie folded her arms like she was about to appraise their work and the twins joined in the weird song with giggles. Of course the little shits spoke Judoon. They were so quick to learn, imbibe and then hide it. Ianto found himself giggling as he tried to keep a straight face lest he insult the Judoon by laughing at their clearly heartfelt booming snores. Or whatever it was.
When done they bowed and it was everyone's cue to clap.
Enthusiastically.
Grayson slept through all of it in his Daddy's arms, Jack looking down with raw love at his son.
And they were at peace once more.
