Chapter 2: Army of Red

I still can't believe Pilaf tricked me. And here I thought I finally had my grandpa's ball again. Not to mention, these army guys keeps getting in my way. I wonder who they are and why they're after the dragon balls. Plus, fighting them is making me hungry. I'm going to go and find something to eat.

I was happy to spot an apple tree nearby and claimed up. As I munched away, I suddenly picked up the faint sound of giggling. When I looked through the leaves, I couldn't believe my eyes. It was "Chichi!" Oh boy! When was the last time I saw her? And why was I feeling all fuzzy inside again? "Hey, Chichi!"

The way she looked around I guess she couldn't see me. So, I grabbed two apples before jumping out the tree and running over to her. When I reached her, she slap me back and I found myself hitting the tree. That was funny. "Oh gosh. I need to be more lady like."

"That's ok." I giggled as I ran back to her. When I reached her, I noticed that she was holding flowers. I then offered her one of the apples.

"For me?" I nodded my head. "Thank you." As we ate that fuzzy feeling kept making itself known. And for some reason Chichi was glowing as she ate. We then sat under the tree, as she began to talk about things. I don't know why but her voice was so smoothing that I fell asleep.

I was lost in talking about future together I failed to noticed that Goku had fallen asleep. Oh my, he looks so cute while he's sleeping. I know papa and Mrs. Ying are trying to teach me how to be a proper lady, but I couldn't help myself. It should be ok if I just touched a boy's hair. They never said anything about that.

Just I went to reach my hand out, he slightly moved. So, I pulled back. I really didn't want to wake him up. After all, he looks so cute. I then decided to lay next to him. As I was starting to fall asleep, until a loud banging noise shocked us. We both looked around as the noise happened again. It's when I saw smoke coming from my village I started to panic.

Goku quickly called for nimbus and we rushed to papa. I hope everyone is alright. When we got to the village there was a lot of men in tanks. At that, I noticed that they all had red scarfs on their arms and the tanks had red RR on them. I looked to Goku and he seem angry. He then went about fighting each one of the men and scaring the rest away. He's so strong and cool. Wouldn't be awesome if I was that strong?

I know I'm strong already, since I am the great Ox-King's daughter. Especially since my mom was also a mighty warrior before she settled with my dad. But seeing Goku in action just gets me so fired up and wanting to get even stronger. I'll become so strong that I could be an even match for him.

Once the army had left, papa asked if Goku would stay for our wedding feast. It looked confused until papa started talking about the all the foods that the cooks made. That's when Goku's face lite up and asked where was the food. I thought that was silly and giggled.

While we ate, papa went about telling us about the people who was recently here. And going about how one of them looked like Goku. "That would be impossible. Goku was with me by the apple tree."

"There was also a tall woman and a blue looking fella."

"Oh, then that must have been Emperor Pilaf."

"Emperor who?" Goku tried to explain it was someone bad before he got up and left. Once Goku was gone I looked up to papa. "Papa," He looked down to me. "I can't wait for our actual wedding. We would be so happy together." Papa just smiled at me before we looked out to the sunset. Something about this one felt magical.

"Are you sure he's the right one, princess?"

"I have no doubts that he's perfect."

After chasing away the red army, I went to check on Ox-King and Chichi. I was glad that they said the were ok. And before I could turn to leave Ox-King said something about a feast. At first, I was confused until he spoke about food. That's when I heard my stomach grumble.

As I ate Ox-King spoke about people who was here earlier. Especially the one who looked like me. It didn't take much for me to realize he was speaking about Emperor Pilaf. I will say that the food was super yummy. I didn't really hear much that the two was talking about, but Chichi's voice sounded nice. I still don't understand why this fuzzy feeling only happens when I'm around her.

Once I had finished eating, I sadly rushed out. As much as I would like to stay a little longer, I still had grandpa's ball to find. As I walked away Chichi said something about a wedding. "I'll try some next time." I shouted as I left through the hole in the wall. I could faintly hear her say how wedding wasn't a type of food.

I was curious to know what Chichi meant, but my current mission was more important. Maybe another time I would ask her what a wedding was. But all I do know, the times I heard her say words I didn't know she looked happy. So, I'm sure whatever it was it has to be something good. Especially if it makes Chichi smile in a way that makes me feel fuzzy.

It's been a few months since I've seen Goku. I hope he found his grandpa's dragon ball. After he left, I had asked papa to continue my training. I was glad that papa agreed and so we began doing sparring sessions.

We just came back from on of our sessions when Mrs. Ying and Li came over to us. Mrs. Ying then went on to inform us how news broke out that a young boy defeated the Red Ribbon army. "No one really know the name of the young man. But I do have my suspicion it might be the boy the young miss has fancy."

"You think it was Goku?" When Mrs. Ying nodded, I couldn't help but smile. After all, who else could it possibly be. It just had to be Goku. Especially since I saw how he handled the army when he was here. If that's the case I have a long way to go in my training. If I'm lucky, papa would let me enter the 22nd tournament. Wouldn't it be amazing to take part along side Goku and showcase my strength?

As father and Mrs. Ying continue to speak, me and Li went off to flower field. "Li, you think papa would allow me to join the next world tournament?"

Li got into his fighting stance before throwing a round-house kick. "If it's to try to fight Goku, he might not let you." I easily blocked his kick and threw a punch. "After all, you still have lots to learn, princess." Li did have a point. Especially since he was my training partner.

"But how much stronger do I have to be to fight Goku?"

"More than you are now." We just laugh as we continue our spar. After some time, papa and Mrs. Ying came to get us.

As me and papa sat for dinner, I wonder if I should ask him. "Papa, do you think I'll ever be ready to entered a world tournament?"

He looked at me for a moment before continuing eating the bite of food he just placed in his mouth. "Why would you want to join a tournament?"

"I want to test my skills as fighter. As much as Li is strong, he's nowhere as strong as me. And I understand that I have a lot more training to do. But I want to fight against all type of people. I want to learn so much." Just for a moment the room felt heavy in the silence.

"It would be dangerous and very challenging. Do you really think you can handle it?"

I looked up to papa. "I know I can do it, papa. So, please. Please train me even harder." He smiled before taking another bite of his food.

"You better keep up."

"Thank you, papa."

He patted my head. "Starting tomorrow you better be ready for anything."

That night I was just so excited that I couldn't sleep. I went over to my dresser and pulled out a picture frame. Once I was back on my bed, I hugged the picture. "Mama, I have so much to tell you. That boy I been telling you about, there's word that he could have been the one who took down the Red Ribbon army. He's so strong and brave. Not to mention, so sweet and cute. Papa said you and him knows Goku's grandpa." I then heard a knock at my door.

I quickly places mom's photo back in my dresser and opened the door. I was somewhat surprised that Li was there. "I heard tomorrow you will be starting training harder. So," He pulled out an orange ribbon from his pocket. "Hopefully this brings you luck."

I removed my helmet and turned around. "Can you tie my hair please."

The next day was strange. Papa had woken me up super early. "Before today I have been going easy on you, since you was my daughter. But from now on not only will train you in the Turtle school, you will also learn the style your mother was famous for."

I excitedly looked up at papa, as he handed me a set of clothes. "What fighting style mom knew?"

"She was a mix of tai chi, muay thai, and boxing. This gi I'm giving you will be what you will train with. One day you might be able wear your mother's old gi."

After fighting the army and getting the dragon balls from the base I looked to the radar. But for some reason the radar wasn't giving me the location of the last dragon ball. I wonder if it's broken. So, I got on nimbus and was about to make my way to West City. I didn't even get that far from the base when I heard my name. And looking down I saw my friends.

I quickly flew down to them and asked Bulma to look at the radar. But she said it wasn't broken. Which then had Master Roshi mentioning someone who could help me. "Most likely Fortuneteller Baba."

"Who?"

"Fortuneteller Baba. She can find anything."

"So, let's go already."

"Woo, woo! I have to find the map first."

"Besides," I looked to Yamcha. "Maybe it best we get your gi fix." I looked myself over and noticed that my clothes was coming apart.

"You're right. Also, I should go get someone." Before anyone could say anything, I got on nimbus and flew off. Since I was so close to getting all the dragon balls, I should get Upa. I'm sure he would want to be there when I get the last dragon ball and we can revive his papa.

After getting my new gi and reaching Baba's palace, we learned that we didn't have the money to pay her. But she then stated that we could take part in a mini tournament to get our fortune told. We just needed to win 5 fights. With that in mind me and my friends agreed to those terms.

It was during the final match something felt off. For some reason it felt like I knew this person. From the way his scent was comforting and how he looked like someone I knew. And during our fight I kept getting angry. It felt like they were mocking me with how he kept countering my every attack. But I wasn't let him win. After all, Upa was depending on me to find the last dragon ball.

Then this fighter surprised me when he grabbed my tail. How did he know to go after my weakness? The pain was so unbearable I silently wish it would end. The pain made it hard to think of speak. All that I was able to do was feel very ounce of pain. The pain of my tail being pulled and it being used to throw me around. My face kept meeting the floor with every slam. I thought it would never stop when suddenly my tail snapped off.

That's when I got enough strength to stumble. "Why did you do that?" I tried to attack him but he dodge in time. How dare he!

"You still haven't learned."

"What are you talking about?" I went for another attack but he held out his hands.

"I give up."

"No! Don't give up!" Before I could attack again, he took off his mask. At that moment I just couldn't believe what I was seeing. There just was no way that was possible. Grand… Grand… "Grandpa?" My body just shook has he nodded his head. Without thinking or caring I ran over to him. I couldn't contain my joy as I hugged. At that moment I just let out all these emotions I didn't know I was carrying.

I cried into his embrace. Just for this moment I would take full joy in seeing him again. "It's ok, Goku. You've grown so much. And it seems you made great friends. I'm so proud." Even though I wasn't ready to let him go, I was placed on my feet. He then held my face. "Please make your tail stronger. So, it can stop being your weakness. Remember, I am and always be proud of you." And just like that he disappeared.
