Christmas Eve:
It was late at night, and everything was quiet. Vincent was the only one awake, besides Asamad, but even he had gone down to his own private room in the castle for the night. So, Vincent was just on his own for now until sunrise.
He continued to wander through the halls for a moment before entering the study room. The others had finished decorating it by now, and they were all greatly satisfied with how it looked by the time they were done.
Vincent began to sit down at his desk now, preparing to write the poem that he would give to the others tomorrow morning. He would've done it earlier, but he knew that the others would've found a way to see it before he gave it to them on Christmas morning. So, he convinced himself that now was the best time to start.
Yet, before he could write even one word, he quickly noticed something… the others had forgotten to turn on the Christmas tree lights before going to bed.
He tried to not think much of it, in fact, he'd never even really celebrated Christmas or had a Christmas tree at all before meeting the rest of the gang. It was just never really something that was important to him for most of his life, and he always loved Halloween more anyways.
But, it was different with everyone here this time. He knew that the others would very much prefer it if the tree was on at night. Christmas means a lot to them, especially now that they are able to spend it altogether this year.
"Well, I suppose I do need some more light in here so I can see while I'm writing," he said to himself.
He then stood up, and turned on the tree. As its lights lit up, he smiled, fondly remembering when a few days ago, they all set it up, and Daphne asked him what he thought of it, and he told her that she and the others did an excellent job.
Vincent looked at it for a moment, then began to sit down again. Finally grabbing a piece of paper, he started to write the poem for the rest of the gang that he had been planning for the past few days.
Christmas Morning:
The sun rose, and everyone had woken up. They immediately left their rooms, rushing over to the study room to give and open their presents.
Vincent looked at the poem he had just finished writing for the others, and he just sat there, waiting until the very moment he could finally give it to them.
Daphne was the first to come into the room, and she smiled at him.
"Good morning and Merry Christmas, Vincent."
"Merry Christmas, and good morning to you too," he smiled back.
Shaggy and Scooby were the next ones to walk in, and after a moment, everyone had entered the room, wishing everyone a Merry Christmas, and starting to give and open up presents.
Once everyone else was eventually done opening presents, Flim Flam pulled out one last wrapped gift from under the tree, and gave it to Vincent as everyone walked up to him.
"This is your present," the yellow-hooded boy began. "I hope you enjoy it."
Vincent took the gift and unwrapped it, and it seemed to only be a cardboard box, but he then opened the box, and reached inside, grabbing something.
He pulled it out and saw that it was a framed collage of photos from when he first met the gang all the way until now.
He stared at it for a moment and almost couldn't believe it. They had taken the time and energy out of their day to make this for him, and he didn't even ask for it at all.
He then noticed that there was writing on the top and bottom parts of the frame. It said, 'Spending the holidays with you is enough for all of us, and it always will be no matter how much time passes. Merry Christmas. From: Daphne, Flim Flam, Shaggy, Scooby, Velma, Cheryl, Jayden, and Asamad.'
"That's a really nice gift," Fred commented, not knowing about it until now since he wasn't there when it was made.
"So, do you like it?" Velma questioned.
Vincent had no words. He was so shocked, he could not even give an answer. Everyone watched as Vincent stared at it again in shock. After a few seconds, he finally could say something.
"I cannot believe you made this for me. I am absolutely speechless. It means a lot that you feel that way about me."
"Really!?" Scooby asked in excitement.
"Of course," he replied. "Thank you for this. What I am about to say next is going to come from the heart, so please listen to me very carefully… this is one of the greatest gifts I've ever received."
Everyone looked around at each other and smiled.
"You really shouldn't have-"
"Oh come on, we wanted to. For you," Cheryl told him.
"Yeah, you've already done more than enough for us, so we figured we'd do something special for you," Shaggy agreed. "You deserve it."
"I told you spending Christmas with you would be enough for them," Asamad said to Vincent.
Vincent looked over at him and smiled once more.
"I know. You were right."
He then turned back to the others.
"Well, even though none of you asked me for anything, however, I did get something for all of you as well," he announced.
He then grabbed the poem that he wrote off the desk, and handed it to them, and Daphne took it.
"This poem also comes from the heart," he confessed.
She looked at it and began reading:
"Loneliness was all I'd ever known
It was all that I was shown
My life was a nightmare
One that I almost could no longer bear.
I waited years for something
For someone to help me
Yet, I just received nothing
It seemed that I would never be free.
Then one day, everything went right
I met them, and my life was now bright
A group of people who hunted ghosts
Were always there when I needed them the most.
I didn't know why they stayed
Inside of me, there came a new feeling
As they gave me aid
I knew I was finally healing."
Daphne looked up from the poem, and everyone was silent for a few seconds.
"Vincent, that was beautiful," Velma smiled.
"That was amazing," Flim Flam nodded.
"You didn't have to write that for us," Shaggy said.
"Yeah, it's really sweet of you," Jayden approved.
"No, but I wanted to. I thought that you deserved it," Vincent told them.
Daphne gave him a hug.
"Thank you so much. Again, Merry Christmas. We love you."
He immediately returned the hug.
"You're welcome, and thank you again for the present. I will be sure to put that in a safe place," he promised. "Merry Christmas, I love you too."
Her eyes widened as she heard him say that. He never said that before to her or the rest of the gang.
But, she knew that when he said something like that, he really meant it. So, she just shut her eyes and smiled.
Vincent opened his eyes and looked at Asamad.
"Merry Christmas, Asamad."
"Merry Christmas to you too, Vincent," the red ghost replied.
Everyone else had joined the hug as Asamad stood by and watched them, except for Fred, who was confused as to whether he should join or not.
After a moment, he finally made his decision.
"I guess I'll join the group hug too, Merry Christmas!" he exclaimed, walking towards them.
Everyone eventually let go after a few minutes, and Jayden looked at the Christmas tree behind him, noticing that it was on.
"Um, who lit up the tree during the night?" he wondered.
"Ri ron't know," Scooby said.
"That would be me," Vincent admitted. "I knew the rest of you would prefer it that way."
Everyone smiled yet again, and Vincent thought about one last thing. Of course the gift that the others gave him was one of the greatest gifts he'd ever received, as he said before. But truly, the number one greatest gift he ever received throughout his entire life was the gang.
Notes: With that, we come to the cessation of "A Demonic Holiday." My 7th episode, which will be the Reflector Specter episode, is titled "Undiscovered Reflections," and will start sometime in January 2022.
Until then, Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to you all!
