The blonde walked farther into the depths of the wood. Their mission was a weird one, Kakashi ordered them to send a message to Amegakure (Rain Village). The village hasn't been the same since Hanzo died and Pein took over. Since the war was over there has been suspicion that they have a new leader. A very ruthless and power-hungry leader.
"Dude what's that smell," Kiba asked, being a dog master, that he could smell things better than the rest of them. He could barely concentrate due to the foul odor in the air.
"It smells rotten," Shikamaru added. They were walking through an abandoned town, freshly abandoned. The smell of smoke and something decayed filled the air. Houses were burnt down to ground zero and no human life was nowhere to be found.
"Hey, guys we have a problem here." Kiba muffled out, he had his arm nearly covering his face to cancel out the bad smell. "You guys wanna see a dead body." Kiba pointed to the house that was filled with decaying bodies. Naruto immediately turned his head away from the view, finding it hard to see the bodies just lying there being eaten away by insects and birds.
"Who would fucking kill a little kid," Naruto asked, feeling anger arise in his body. The thought of his child lying there without the proper burial put a whole different level of anger in his body. "I bet they have answers." Sasuke drew his sword pointing it to the men on the ground. More men appeared on the rooftops pulling out their weapons also.
"Do you guys want to join the?" One of the men asked. He had a smirk on his face and his sword drawn pointing it right back at Sasuke.
Naruto and Kiba both took guard as Shikamaru began to speak to the men. The genius rose the scroll into the air giving everyone a good view of the piece of paper. "We're not here to fight, we only want to deliver this message to your leader, and then we'll be on our way." A man with a scar running down his chest walked towards the group not daring to let down his guard.
"Give us the scroll and we'll make sure he gets it." The men around him began to laugh only toying with then Konoha Shinobi.
"It was an order that we give this to you leader without a fight so you can lead the way or we can fight……..your choice." Shikamaru stuffed the scroll back into his pocket crossing his arm in the action. The man looked back to the other only nodding his head. "Fine but no funny business."
"I could say the same to you." The four boys walked with the men through the small town. They had to step over dead bodies and debris from whatever happened here. It took more for Naruto not to say anything, he knew Kakashi would have his ass if he started a fight with them. Their village was trying to find peace with everyone no matter the past nor future.
The group walked more into a cleaner and peaceful looking side. It seemed like the more wealthy side stayed here. While not only 5 minutes ago they were incomplete utter hell. "Yah, Shikamaru, we might have a problem here," The blonde whispered to his friend. It was obvious that this village needed a lot of help and their leader killed his people for wealth. An academy student could tell what was going on.
"It's none of our business Naruto, stick to the mission."
"Fine….but I will notify Kakashi of what's going on."
"You think you're the only one isn't?" Shikamaru smirked and walked past the blonde. They had finally made it to a castle-like place. The decor inside screamed money, it had marble floors, golden chandeliers, stained windows on the rooftop, golden chairs, and priceless things hanging around the room. Sitting on his throne was a man wearing a dark cloak.
"Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, and Shikamaru Nara…...it's nice to meet you." The man's voice boomed throughout the room. Everyone could see the smirk plastered on his face as he spoke. The three of them were taken aback when they heard their names being called by the man.
"Naruto Uzumaki son of the Fourth Hokage, jinchuriki of the nine tails, a savior of the world,...Sasuke Uchiha, brother of the famous Itachi Uchiha, last known Sharingan user, you were a help to the war also. Shikamaru Nara, one of the smartest men in this generation, I heard you took down an Akatsuki member only at the age of 16, the brain behind the allied forces and the sixth Hokage……….What talented men I have standing before me."
"Cough Cough" Kiba rudely interrupted, "Kiba Inuzuka, future Hokage you forgot about me. This is my dog Akamaru, one of the best canines to ever step foot on this planet."
The man on the seat began to chuckle."I didn't say your name for a reason….weakling." The men in the room launch into a laugher. Kiba grew irritated at the man. Shikamaru stopped him in his tracks before he did anything reckless that may cause them the mission.
"Well, Mr…...Ummmm." Shikamaru stuttered for a minute trying to figure the man's name. It was a weird feeling that he knew their names but they didn't know his.
"My name is Ruzu."
"Okay Ruzu, we have a letter here from our Hokage, we need a fast reply if you don't mind." Shikamaru through the scroll into the man's hand. He read it lifting his eyebrow with a questioning look. "Why offer?"
"I don't know, you'll have to take that up with our Hokage and the others."
"Well then…..I don't mind at all, please show yourself out." The four boys left with a weird feeling in their gut. Naruto being the main one, something was fishy about that man. He sat in his chair never making eye contact only keeping his head low with his hood.
"Shikamaru don't you think that was a little weird." The blonde asked. They had finally made their way into the rain walking down a narrow path. The rain grew thicker and thicker you could barely hear a word from someone else.
"Yeah keep your guard up and don't close your eyes," Shikamaru yelled back. Akamaru began to sniff the ground trying to find a scent of a house or sort to lay low at. The rain was so heavy and thick that not even the greatest dog in the world could pick up a scent.
Back home Sakura and Ino were both in the house preparing for lunch. Ino was making baby Shikadai a bottle while Sakura was preparing both of them a healthy salad. "Oh my goodness Sakura this salad looks so good." The blonde was trying to multitask, In one hand she held her fork in the other she held the baby and his bottle.
"Do you need help?"
"Nope, I do this a lot when Shikamaru isn't home."
Sakura giggled, 'Why don't you ask your dad to babysit."
"Uhh he's still mad at me, he'll talk to the baby but will give me the silent treatment."
Sakura rolled her eyes, "Well you were fucking his best friend son."
"When you put it like that it makes it seem bad." Ino glared at her best friend. Not wanting to carry on the conversation any longer.
"Don't worry he'll get over it, besides you both got married after the fact so who cares."
Ino slouched down in her seat. "Uhh, Mom tells me that he talks about me every night, I just think he wants to give me the silent treatment for the fun of it. He loves Shikadai but he has a bone to pick with Shikamaru."
"Has he been avoiding your dad?"
"Well, ya know everything about Shikamaru is drag or troublesome."
"Well obviously."
"Oh! Sakura, that reminds me of something, here hold him." Ino placed her child into Sakura's arms then raced into the bedroom. The blonde came back nearly out of breath, motioning for her child back.
"Here." she handed a red envelope to Sakura, "We're having Choji a lake party soon. You and Naruto should totally come."
Sakura froze, How was she going to pull off this stunt? A lake meant she had to wear a bikini which she always wore but this time she was pregnant. She couldn't come fully clothed or else people would actually suspect.
"I'll ask Naruto." The rosette said trying her best not to show fear in her voice.
"Okay billboard brow you better show up."
"I said I'll ask Naruto pig." Sakura playful glared at her friend, not feeling slightly offended from the childhood nickname.
The two best friends began to laugh the day away with baby Shikadai. Not knowing that both of their lovers were in a whole lot of shit.
