The next day Izuku returned to the agency dressed in his costume.
Catching a few eyes along his way with the suit's tight fabric and the scary mask.
"Today we'll be conducting both surveillance and patrol work."
Sir Nighteye spoke to Izuku and Mirio.
"Bubble Girl and I will do the surveillance while you and Mirio patrol."
Izuku quirked a smooth black brow.
"Surveillance huh?"
Nighteye explained to him about the criminal group they were after.
A offshoot of the pre-quirk yakuza organizations known as the Eightfold cleansers.
They already knew of their leader a man known as Chisaki whose trademark was the plague doctor mask he always wore.
So the two heroes in training would patrol the streets looking for any possible illegal goings-on.
When a little white haired girl ran into the kleptomaniac hero student.
Everything hurt.
Her lower half burned with ferocious pain each step she took.
Her throat and lungs burned with each breath.
Her arms filled with stabbing pain each time she swung them in unison with her step.
Blood dripped onto her face from her cracked and split horn.
'Somebody... anybody.'
She panted with exhaustion as she ran with all her might against the pain filling her.
'I can't... I can't take it anymore.'
The clacking of shoe heels echoed in the alleyway behind her.
'Please... please help me.'
Then she ran into a soft, warm surface.
Falling to the ground she looked up at what she had run into. Fear filled her eyes as she looked at another person.
'Is he... is he like him?'
Izuku looked down at the little girl on the ground.
She looked terrified of him.
He kneeled and looked at her.
"I'm sorry."
Extending one pale thieving hand his warm green eyes looked into her terrified red.
'That look in her eyes... it's so familiar.'
His spoke to the little girl. Making his voice as warm as he possibly could.
"That must have hurt I'm sorry."
A annoyed voice echoed out from the alley she had come from.
"Look at what you've done. Causing a hero so much trouble."
Izuku looked up from the girl. Whose red eyes filled with even greater terror at the sight of the man.
Izuku and Mirio walked down the street.
The raven haired boy noticed in his peripheral vision that some civilians were watching the two as they patrolled.
Mirio was explaining the point of their patrolling. But then stopped.
"Oh! We never told each other are hero names, did we?"
He said as he looked at the shorter male through his huge visor.
Izuku turned to him and shrugged.
"I guess not."
The greenette pointed to himself and blandly said.
"I'm All For One."
Mirio crossed his arms in surprise.
"Like the villain?"
Izuku nodded.
"Yeah he's my dad."
"...okay then."
Was the blond's surprisingly bland response to the greenette's statement. Before he excitedly stated and explained his hero name.
"I'm Rumillion! I may not be able to save everyone like All Might but I decided to take a name that shows my desire to save millions!"
Shortly after he explained his hero name a little white haired girl ran into Izuku.
Izuku stood up holding the little girl close to his chest. As he stood he looked at the man.
'That's the Yakuza that Nighteye is after.'
"Sorry about my daughter hero."
The man closed his eyes and shrugged his shoulders. Izuku noticed that the man was wearing plastic gloves.
"She's been horsing around too much and scraped herself up. The girl worries me sick!"
Izuku glared at the man and was about to say something but before the black haired kleptomaniac could a firm hand was placed on his shoulder. Looking at the source of the appendage Izuku saw Mirio standing above him.
The blond's ever present smile showing for all to see.
"We're the ones who should be saying sorry."
He said brightly towards the brown haired man.
"With that kickass mask you must be one of the cleansers. They're real famous round these parts."
Mirio said to the man who gained an suspicious look.
"No I simply despise germs."
Izuku felt the little girl begin to tremble against his chest. Each time the man spoke her trembling got worse.
"Hey you two must be newbie heroes. You're way to young to be proper pros."
The well dressed man said glaring at Izuku. Or more accurately glaring at the girl he was holding.
"What offices are you with?"
Mirio gestured to Izuku and himself.
"We're still students so it's quite presumptuous to think that we'd be with an office. We were just patrolling around for a workplace experience."
The blond turned away.
"Speaking of which we have to keep patrolling till noon. So we'd better keep at it let's go."
Izuku nodded and tried to set the girl down.
Only for her to tightly hold onto his costume.
Her red eyes filled with tears as she looked into his eyes and whimpered in fear.
"Don't... don't go... please."
She pleaded.
Izuku's eyes widened.
'That look... it's so... familiar.'
Mirio turned back to him when he noticed Izuku wasn't following him.
"Your daughter... she's terrified of something."
The man's eyes squinted with annoyance.
"She's just afraid of how badly she's going to be scolded."
Mirio quickly speed walked to Izuku.
"Let's go."
He said insistingly.
"And her bandages are far to thick for just some horsing around."
The man shrugged.
"She falls down a lot."
Izuku glared at the man. His quirks swirled in his chest they roared with rage with every blatant lie the man spoke.
"She is shaking and begging me to not leave."
His emerald green eyes filled with rage glared at the mask wearing man.
"That's not something a child scared of being scolded would normally do."
The man glared at the raven haired hero.
"And who are you to say what's normal?"
Mirio silently pleaded for Izuku to shut up. If he discovers who they are he might attack.
"What have you done to her?"
Izuku glared into the man's eyes. While his quirks beat against his chest like the beating of a war drum.
The villain sighed and shrugged.
"Fine I swear you heroes are sensitive to the smallest of things."
He turned and began slowly walking into the alley.
"It's embarrassing so I'd rather not speak of it in public."
As they followed him into the alley the man began to speak.
"To tell you the truth I've been worried about Eri lately."
The girl's trembling grew far stronger when the man spoke her name.
"No matter what I do she does nothing but rebel."
Izuku felt a wet patch began to grow on his shoulder as the girl buried her face into his shoulder.
"You worried about raising her then?"
The man nodded.
"Kids are hard to understand let me tell you."
He reached for his gloved left hand and began tugging at it.
"It honestly makes me think I could turn into a very different person."
At his words Eri forced out of his hold and ran to him.
"Done with your little tantrum."
The man spoke in a annoyed tone.
"Eri what are you?"
The man turned slightly to the kleptomaniac and vault boy lookalike.
"This is how it's always like. I'm sorry I ended up bothering you will all this."
Both began walking away their backs to the heroes. Eri's head was bowed still trembling in fear.
"Good luck on the job."
Izuku tried to chase after the girl but Mirio stopped him.
"We can't go after them. No matter how much we want to."
Mirio spoke to him trying to stop him from charging after the two.
"Didn't you notice? He made a show of murderous intent to reel the girl back in."
The war drum beat of quirks in Izuku's chest grew stronger as he clenched his fists in rage.
"Chase too far and you'll just make him harder to catch. C'mon let's respect Sir's orders."
Izuku closed his eyes.
"It's just... she reminds me."
Mirio looked at the raven haired kleptomaniac.
"...of myself."
Izuku opened his eyes and watched the backs of the villain and child disappear in the darkness of the alley.
