Chapter 3
As the PAW Patrol approached Station Square, Chase began to hum to himself. It was a melody that had stuck with him since the latest dream he had. "I don't remember that song," Marshall commented after he took a break.
"That's because I made it up," said Chase. "It came from a dream I had."
"May we hear the lyrics?" Skye asked. "Or do you have lyrics?"
"I dont have the whole song yet, but here's how it starts. It would take a marching band to play the intro I had in mind." Chase cleared his throat and began to sing the song for them, also mimicking the band's intro. The pups enjoyed what they heard, as did Ryder, and even Robo-Dog was bobbing his head to the tempo of the song.
We are the PAW Patrol!
The brave and mighty PAW Patrol!
We are the PAW Patrol!
We protect Adventure Bay!
We do our jobs with heart and soul.
When others say, "Stop!", we say, "Go!"
We are the PAW Patrol
Who protect Adventure Bay!
From fighting fires to keeping the law,
No job is too big, no pup is too small!
We fight for what we believe is right,
We never let evil out of our sight!
We are the PAW Patrol!
As Ryder says, "We're on a roll!"
We are the PAW Patrol!
So give a big shout, "Hooray!"
We're the PAW Patrol!
We protect Adventure Bay!
The pups howled with excitement, and Ryder added, "What a great song, Chase!"
"Thanks, Ryder!"
Meanwhile, the Thorndyke family read the papers alongside Sonic and friends in order to get themselves familiar with the PAW Patrol and their accomplishments. "I just hope this Humdinger guy doesn't team up with Eggman if he ever breaks out of prison," Chris commented.
"I don't think Eggman would team up with him," said Sonic. "He thinks their hometown is full of nothing but psychopaths."
"I fear I would have felt the same thing," Chuck admitted, "but I will not be judgmental of them. I'd be weirded out to start with because the mayor keeps a chicken for a pet, but then she takes it to the next level by making her the deputy mayor, and even making a statue of her. There's probably a story behind that."
"There is," Vector replied, "but if you ask me, my hunch is that chicken doesn't pay attention to anything but herself, even if it's her birthday, or something. Best not to tell them, though; it might hurt their feelings."
Everybody agreed that it was best to just let Mayor Goodway do her own thing with Chickaletta, but his hunch hit the bullseye.
It took a while, but Ryder did contact Sonic and ask for directions, so that when it was time to land the Air Patroller, they did so on the same runway as was planned, and Tails took the liberty of directing the Air Patroller to land properly. The others then gathered around as the back down opened and the ramp came down, and the pups excitedly ran out to meet Sonic and the others.
"And here they are!" the blue blur announced as the pups arrived.
"Hey; it's our fabulous dog pals!" Knuckles echoed.
"Nice to see you all again," Shadow greeted. "Has the Doctor been around recently?"
"No; we haven't seen Dr. Eggman since we launched him into space," Ryder replied, shaking his head. "I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of him, but I hope he never tries to use Foggy Bottom as a hideout again. That was chaotic."
"No kidding."
The pups each introduced themselves, and Sonic and friends introduced themselves in return. The pups were all fascinated by how each of Sonic's friends contributed to the team, and in return, the hedgehog and his friends appreciated how each of the pups contributed to keeping Adventure Bay's people safe and out of danger. The PAW Patrol didn't bother to mention the Dino Wilds, however, because they weren't certain Sonic and company would believe there was a lost world where dinosaurs still existed. Instead, Rex just mentioned that he studied dinosaurs as a hobby, and that if he was on a quiz show that required on to pick a specialty subject, that would be his category. Sonic then joked that his specialty category would be chili dogs, prompting laughs from everybody.
The pups then got a tour of the Thorndyke residence, and it was later on they'd be able to get a tour of Station Square.
All the while, Dr. Eggman plotted his revenge, while Mayor Goodway prayed hard he would never come back to Adventure Bay. Chickaletta, however, just looked forward to the next time she would eat corn.
