Flowers for Dummies

"Hmm…" A particular silver haired girl ran her fingers through her hair several times, staring with half-lidded eyes at several different plants before her. Glancing around at her surroundings, the girl couldn't help but feel an immense modicum of frustration. She was the daughter of the Jaeger King, a former member of Zephyr, the infamous Sylphid, a Senior Bracer, and a member of Class VII - and yet she was stumped.

Whenever she was troubled, she would ask for advice. From someone in the Gardening Club, like Edel. Edel always knew best. But right now? She was pretty far from being a part of the Gardening Club, and asking a fellow bracer like Toval or Sara for what flower would be the most romantic would be a little silly, wouldn't it?

And besides...asking Sara for romantic advice?

Fie curled her lips in a frown, clearly starting to get frustrated as she unconsciously tapped her foot. The gears turning in her head likely would have continued turning, if not for the sudden ringing of her ARCUS. Pulling out the disruptive device, Fie's eyes showed uncommon surprise, the name on the ARCUS showing Rean.

"Uh oh." Fie stared at the ARCUS for a split second before inhaling sharply. "I'm late!" Sylphid immediately spun on her heels, shooting out of the flower shop door like a panicked pom and leaving the shopkeeper in confusion. How did the time fly by so quickly? Normally the Senior Bracer was really good at keeping track of time, her surroundings, and everything else, but when it came to Rean and spending time with him, it was like time flew by like the Courageous II.

It had been a couple weeks since their escapade in Leeves, but it had felt like far longer since the last time they had a chance to feel each other's warmth. And thus, several missions later, Fie finally had the chance to take a break in Heimdallr after reporting to the Guild branch on Vesta Street. With a bit of maneuvering in Rean's schedule, the pair had planned to meet at the Cafe Etoile near Elliot's old home to do some catching up and for a long awaited date.

Or...rather, it would have been, if not for the fact that Fie was definitely late. An hour late. Hopefully Rean wouldn't be too mad. The image of an angry Rean suddenly bubbled up in Fie's mind as she dashed through the streets and crosswalks, dodging pedestrians and the occasional orbal car alike. She had only seen him angry a few times, but the thought made the former jaeger a little anxious.

Finally reaching the corner where the Cafe Etoile was, Fie found herself stopping at the edge of a wall. What if he was angry? The girl frowned. Well, worst comes to worst, I can always outrun him. Peering around the corner of the wall, Fie found her eyes locked onto one particular figure amongst the various patrons sitting at the outside tables. One black-haired individual sat, tapping his fingers and shifting uneasily in his seat. He opened his ARCUS again. Oops. Fie's brow furrowed. I didn't pick up when he called last time. He's probably worried sick. She looked at the ground for a moment before returning her eyes to the man she loved.

Well, she would have if he were still seated at the table. Fie took a step forward from her corner, her lime green eyes rapidly scanning the surrounding area. Where did he go?

"What are you doing over here?" A familiar voice lilted. Whirling around, Fie's eyes locked with Rean's, lime green confusion meeting fuschia relief. The man seemed even more handsome than the last time she'd seen him, his face having some sort of glow.

"People watching." Though Fie was being facetious, the nervousness in her tone was evident.

"Uh huh." Rean raised an eyebrow. "Any reason why you didn't pick up? And were an hour late? I was pretty worried, you know." He took a step toward her, his hands behind his back. Surprisingly, the girl didn't comment on his strange posture, and Rean made a mental note that he'd dodged a bullet.

"I...got lost in looking for flowers." Fie glanced away, a slight tinge of crimson on her cheeks. "I wanted to surprise you with something, but I came with nothing." Rean didn't say a word as a hand suddenly reached out, landing on her head and patting softly.

"That's all, eh?" Rean chuckled. "I'm glad that's all it was - I was worried the guild had sent you off somewhere again and it might be months until I got to see you."

Fie was silent, taking in the sensation of Rean's headpatting but still shifting uneasily. "You're not angry with me? Not angry that I was late, or that I didn't end up deciding on a flower at all?" Her feelings swirled in the pit of her stomach - a mixture of confusion, relief, and happiness.

"Huh? The man raised an eyebrow. "Why would I be mad? If anything, I'm just relieved to see you, and even happier that you're actually here in front of me." He stopped his head patting, pulling the girl into a tight hug and resting his chin on her head. "And besides, a beautiful flower did make its way here after all."

Fie blushed heavily.

Searching for the proper words to say, Rean spoke slowly. "It's..." He paused, the gears turning in his head. "...nice to see you again." After not seeing her for so long, Rean had plenty of other words he'd like to use, but now probably wasn't the time or place. He felt her relax, and exhale deeply.

"That was a lame choice of words." Fie wiggled in his arms, causing Rean to loosen his grip. She smirked, looking up at him. "You're the most speechy guy I know, and that's the best you could do?" Her eyes immediately narrowed, a certain sensation tickling her on the back. "And what are you hiding?"

The Thors graduate sighed. "You just never let me off the hook, do you?" He released her, holding out a white lilac to her. "So much for the chance to sweep you off your feet." The man cleared his throat. "

"A white lilac?" Fie took the flower in her hands, feeling the stem and staring at its beautiful blossoms. "I like lilacs, but why the white version?"

"Uh...well, it reminded me of you. White petals, silver white hair..." The man scratched his head sheepishly. "Nothing really more than that really." Of course, it was true. Rean had spent at least 2 hours prior to their date picking out a flower, and he decided on a lilac - after all, Fie had given multiple people a potted purple lilac when her seeds had grown back at Thors. And while it was also true that the white color reminded him of her, she didn't have to know that he had spent 2 hours on the whole ordeal.

"Boo. That's the least romantic answer you could give me, dummy." The girl deadpanned, but her lime green eyes betrayed her actual feelings. "Really though...thanks." She muffled her words by sinking deeper into his chest. Fie felt overwhelmingly happy, like she could soar off into the air like Valimar. The stimulation was relaxing, yet exciting all at once. The two stayed like that for some time, simply enjoying each others' touch. When they finally broke off, Fie was the first to speak.

"Soooo...let's get on with the date, ja?" Feeling bold, Fie pressed her lips to his and was exhilarated when she felt him respond in kind.

Unbeknownst to the couple, two pairs of battle hardened eyes were watching them from a rooftop nearby.

"Way to go, Romeo." The man with the tan ponytail whistled, watching with amusement as he grinned wildly.

"If he had made her upset, he would have not seen the light of the morning sun." The towering man enunciated the last part of his sentence, cracking his knuckles.

"Yeah. Guess we'd better keep an eye on the two of them, huh?" The Trap Master smirked through his words, checking his blade rifle. "Though little Fie isn't going to be very happy when she eventually finds out we've been watching her this whole time…"
