Hello everybody.
Given everything the MCU Spider-Man has been through of getting dragged into Civil War mess by blackmail from Iron Man in his first appearance really has set up a Peter that should frankly want nothing to do with the larger hero community.
Following No Way Home is yeah, I especially don't see Peter wanting much to do with the larger Avengers as a whole. Not that after Civil War, Homecoming, and Infinity War/Endgame Peter doesn't already have enough reasons.
I'll explain more in the bottom with this story does paint Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, or the whole Avengers in the best light. If you're a fan who can't handle any criticism towards them then this may not be something you should read.
On with the show.
Roof of the old Avengers Tower
Letting go of a web Peter Parker lands on the ground. Currently wearing his Spider-Man suit that well his right pant leg has been restitched on the side after fighting Rhino a few days back from getting rebar shoved into it.
Which Peter grimacing can still feel the phantom pain as despite his wounds healing, doesn't erase the agony. Like why can feel the lingering effects of one of Vulture's bombs explode two feet away, from three weeks ago. And the worst part is it's Liz, his old girlfriend who has decided to follow in her father's footsteps.
Since Mrs. Toomes died during the snap and on the same day Adrian came back from being undusted is he was supposedly killed in a prison riot. Well theoretically given no body was found, and frankly, unless there's a body that has been cremated under personal supervision Peter knows it means nothing. Since frankly death for villains anyway is cheap, and even some heroes too.
Just grimly reflecting on his Aunt May or Uncle Ben dying, not everybody. Between Rhino, which he briefly wonders if this who Peter Three meant by a villain in a metal outfit, only this guy was like an actual human fused with Rhino DNA, alongside Vulture and countless other problems is typical Parker Luck.
Pushing those thoughts aside Peter turns seeing Steve Rogers wearing casual clothes with Stark in his Iron Man suit, minus the headgear, rising up from the roof's platform ceiling. Years ago, his teenage naive self would be gushing at how cool that is, now all he can muster is just impatience. After all, has places to be and no real time for these guys. Even his once blind hero-worship of Tony is long over… following everything.
Frankly, Peter notes Tony Stark for all intents and purposes should be dead, with Steve an old gray-haired man long past his fighting years. Only due to multiverse weird crap that went down a few months back involving Dr. Strange, and Scarlett Witch aka Wanda Maximoff has had ripple effects.
Apparently, events resulting from when he messed up Dr. Strange's spell among other events occurring, like in Westview, New Jersey for Wanda, or how Dr. Strange beat Kaecilius alongside Dormammu has had consequences. Upon managing to get everything resolved a few changes in the new reality is Steve restored to his younger self, and Tony being living once more. Regarding Captain America well Steve decided there's no reason the world can't have two so has let Sam continue on. For the Avengers they've decided to go back to basics with reopening their old headquarters.
Of course, during this time Mysterio, or the real one who was murdered by an upset Stark employee to steal Beck's ID, came back from literal hell right into Queen's neighborhood. After all, Peter mentally notes dryly cause why not, villains love Queens like The Hand ninjas love Hell's Kitchen.
Regardless Peter remembers sending Mysterio with Beck's army back where they came. Well had some light help from an enigmatic female known only as Madam Webb and apparently, she's involved in certain mystics directly related to him across the multiverse involving the web of life.
Hearing Tony Stark complain about not having time for daydreaming snaps Peter back to the present.
"I got your message after you left it blasted into the side of an empty warehouse in Queen's helmet head, what's up?" Peter asks crossing his arms.
"You know I remember you being way nicer to me, and you should be given what we are about to offer," Tony says.
"Tony, be nice and we want you on the Avengers full time. After everything involving Thanos, stopping Beck in London or whatever went down at the Statue of Liberty you can more than handle the big threats. You're meant for greatness, kid" Steve says passionately.
"First of all, quit calling me a kid, and the answer is no" Peter replies without missing a beat "You should have asked Starky over there, I already turned this down once and now I'm even more than willing to do so."
"Why? This is the best offer in your life you're ever going to get, and besides whatever fussy memories I do have I feel like you were a son to me" Tony says.
Scoffing "Wow returning from the dead really made you loopy. I was just another robot in your lab, and we were never family. I knew you from missions only, and your wife left my family alongside me to rot following the Mysterio mess, long story" Peter says icily upon briefly shuttering on getting called son since far too close to Osborn's twisted mind, "I'm not your kid."
Letting out a sigh "Whatever problems have happened it's in the past and needs to remain there, Spider-Man. Don't be unreasonable" Steve says.
"Tell me I might on a very blue moon consider your offer, if you people are going to help out the neighborhoods," Peter says.
Frowning "What do you mean?" Steve inquiries.
"We don't have time for that, we're the Avengers," Tony says scoffing.
"Exactly. None of you help, and don't get me wrong it's probably for the best since you would just make a mess, but you sit in your ivory tower only focused on the big threats" Peter says in disgust.
"It's a nice skyline and we have comfy chairs," Tony says.
"Enough Tony you're not helping, and we can't be everywhere at once son. I'm sure you understand" Steve says.
Glaring "Quit calling me son, both of you," Peter says warningly, after all, he had his uncle and aunt.
"I frankly don't get the big deal spider-boy," Tony says.
"No, you wouldn't. First, I doubt you really told people the full truth for blackmail, manipulating, and kidnapping me to go fight in Germany at the airport. That's the start and I'm not getting into later events during the whole Vulture mess" Peter growls "And playing your janitor for London left my life in ruins."
"Okay, I get you have issues with Tony but why condemn all of us?" Steve inquiries.
Laughing sharply "You really don't get it do you, Rogers? The guy who always stood up and never backed down from a fight in the New York's slums, that was perhaps the most inspirational yet all you've done since coming back is focused on Avengers missions around the world. Most people on the street while thankful for saving us from aliens don't like the Avengers all that much. Know why?" Peter asks rhetorically.
"No, but I'm sure you'll tell us," Tony says.
"You have no clue on the nightmares I face alongside others like Daredevil daily. A six-year-old kid getting abused by her or his parents, even sexually, or parents helplessly watching as their children get addicted to drugs. People dying due to gang violence. Having a wife or husband murder or abuse their respective partner regardless of gender out over everything from marital issues, cheating to having a mental breakdown, and deciding to slash them apart with a potato peeler for not taking out the trash" Peter angrily fires back.
"Stop, just quit," Tony says desperately.
"No, you wanted to know so now you listen. I've comforted rape survivors for wondering or just given up hoping where were the Avengers? Just busy up in their tower? I've had recused people from human trafficking or faced guardians who sell their children to medical companies for illegal genetic testing for a quick paycheck. I've had to quietly talk kids, teenagers, or adults off from suicide" Peter says darkly "And what's worse is all the people I can't save. A young mother shielding her children from gunfire or rapists, a father dying in a mugging protecting his kid, teenagers who get killed in drive-by shootings or beatings from gangs, those who commit suicide no matter what I do."
"Please, just please quit" Tony begs going white as a sheet and ready to puke.
"Enough you've made your point" Steve snaps and going white as well.
"You want to know why I keep away from all of you big guys? Because I got dragged into a mess created by you both in an escalating situation made worse. The entire universe got snapped in half all because you Avengers couldn't figure out your crap" Peter replies bitterly "I died on some alien planet out in the middle of nowhere, endless miles from home while my spider-sense gone into overdrive and being unable to do anything as every cell of mine turned into dust."
"You followed me" Tony yells back "That's not my fault."
"No, your right I made my choice and I'd do it again, but you out of sheer ego along with pride refused to get in touch with any other Avenger for working out a plan. Never mind thinking you could stop Thanos by yourself alongside a magician" Peter replies grimly "And here's the worst part I talked to Dr. Strange at your funeral."
"And what did my beard stealing rip off have to say, oh Mr. spider wisdom?" Tony inquiries mockingly.
"That we had options for better possible futures until you decided to run off half-cocked Stark and the moment that happened only one future left," Peter says briskly.
Captain America and Iron Man merely remain standing there speechless while Spider-Man heads towards the roof's edge, pausing.
"You guys are right about one thing I have stopped Avenger level threats by myself, more or less, so don't come around my neighborhood," Spider-Man says coldly.
Leaping off Spider-Man after diving at an angle for a moment Peter turns with shooting a web onto a building pulling him upwards, before letting go. Firing another one Spider-Man continues swinging off to Queens.
Hope you all enjoyed this and leave a review letting me know what you think.
Frankly, they could have easily used Spider-Man exploring the effects of he was one of untold people who died. Alongside how if the Avengers didn't have Civil War mess on them stop trusting/communicating with each other maybe they could have had a better chance of stopping Thanos the first time.
Instead, all we got in Far From Home was Peter moping about how Tony Stark died, being conflicted about as the next Iron Man, or not talking about how bad the EIDTH system is invented by Tony.
Seriously a massive weapons system pointed at earth that can hack into any database and kill a person by mere thought, yet it's portrayed as a good thing.
What the heck Marvel? Here's something worse is I've read fanfics that have Peter bring this ludicrous AI back.
Like in my fic I wanted to explore how this Peter Parker has the guy on the street perspective and doesn't have a high view of the Avengers because of it. Because like Spider-Man or the other Defenders are dealing with issues that for the common guy on the street sees the Avengers being too busy or just don't care about.
Yeah, could have easily done that in the official MCU only all we got from the MCU is they were interested in sucking up to Robert Downey Jr.
Regarding No Way Home I have the feeling some of the other people involved managed to get enough pull, including possibly even Sony's deal on returning for kicking Kevin Feige away from Spider-Man.
Given Feige had gone to very higher ups of Marvel and threatened to quit if they didn't give Robert Downey Jr. more screen time with getting rid of a head guy wanting RDJ gone. So, making MCU into the RDJ verse is on Feige.
For those who don't who Madam Webb is I'm borrowing from the old 90's Spider-Man cartoon on how she is a person far more involved in Peter's multiverse life. Something that has seemingly stuck with her character as Webb was responsible for the first gathering of the multiverse Spider-Men ever to my knowledge.
Until next time
