Qrow suggested they split up seeing there were three villages to investigate before Kuroyuri. Ruby and Jaune took the one of the left, Ren and Nora took the middle, and Qrow took the one of the right. Ruby insisted she should handle herself. Jaune insisted the same. They were hunters…in-training.

As they walked to the village, it was eerily silent. Something was wrong, but they were not sure what…until they entered. Blood lain on the village floor from scores of dead villages. Some had their hearts torn right out. Some simply had slash across the chest. But the thing that both Jaune and Ruby's skin crawling were the bodies with a big tear in their pants and skirts. The bodies were tied, gagged, and defiled…with their throats cut.

Out came Jaune's lunch on the ground as Ruby was on her knees dry heaving.

"Run…" A weak voice said.

That got them to rushing over to see a victim who was still alive, but he clearly was not going to be for bad.

"Who did this?" Ruby asked.

"One man. Save yourself….and run." He sputtered out before expiring.

"That's our cue to leave." Jaune said as Ruby agreed.

"Oh, I wouldn't leave!" Another voice said getting the hairs on their necks on end. "I have a hostage…and it's been a while since I had it."

"Had what?" Ruby asked.

"Hunter booty. That raw butt."

Jaune and Ruby's jaw tightened as the lizard part of their brains was saying 'forget the hostage, get the hell out now!'.

"But I've been seen for you, Ruby Rose." He said coming out of the shadows to reveal him.

He was a scarred scorpion faunus with eyes golden and twisted. Ruby was frozen and Jaune had shuddering.

"For I, Tyrian Callows, don't care what Salem wants. All I care for is booty. Man. Women. Both butts. Booty is more important than food or water. I like what I'm seeing in the both of you. Now, I like it and I want it both. So, we can do this the easy way, or we can do the hard way." Tyrian said with a cackle. "The choice is yours."

Jaune slowly wished he had a gun right now as Ruby took aim. Getting back her nerve, she uncurled Crescent Rose spinning him into its rifle form. Never before did Ruby want it, but no…she needed this man dead. No ifs, ands, or buts.

"Hard way it is then." Tyrian said before running at them. "Guess there's no need to be gentle."

At that point, Tyrian was the most aggressive fighter they had faced. Tyrian simply did not compare to the likes of the mooks of the White Fang. He felt like Neo and Roman combined as she blocked, weaved, and slashed. Jaune was putting his all just to keep up. It was clear to the both of them that he was playing with them, seeing them as food. He swatted Jaune aside with his tail before turning to Ruby.

"Do you really think you can stop me?" Tyrian asked. "That you can protect yourself from me?"

With his weapons, the Queen's Servants, awash with blood from the innocent villages, he blocked Ruby's scythe with his left arm blade making sparks flash.

"You can't stop time, little girl." Tyrian growled before punching the scythe out from Ruby's grip. "And you can't stop me."

His eyes were an eerie purple now as his tail had her by the throat. His right hand glowed a sickly purple.

"It is going to happen. And no matter what you do, no matter how you squirm…there's nothing you can do to stop it."

She was slammed on the ground face first.

"If you had just complied, I wouldn't have to hurt you worse…than I have to now." Tyrian said. "Now, I'll be taking that bu- "

SHINK!

Ruby was freed as Crocea Mors sank into the outside post of a building as she threw off Tyrian's tail.

His now severed tail. The pain did not set in…until he looked down at it. He began frantically screaming as Jaune panted.

"Looks like you've been sprayed and neutered." Jaune said with a wry grin that only came off as goofy.

Tyrian stopped screaming to turn towards Jaune with a look of disdain.

"Did you really think that line sounded cool?" Tyrian said readying to pounce.

SLING!

Ruby was aiming for Tyrian's head but got his legs which sent the faunus into the ground with shattered aura. Ruby swapped it to her gun mode before blowing off his arms.

"You ok, Jaune?" Ruby said panting as she came off the adrenaline.

"For once, I'm glad he did not take me seriously." Jaune said tearing his sword out. "And look at this…"

Jaune picked up a rather heavy dust pistol which had a clip in it. He looked at Ruby who had a grin on her face as they walked up to Tyrian.

"Who's Salem?" Ruby said glaring at him.

"She's claimed to be a goddess to me, but that's bullshit. Why would a goddess live in this chaotic world?" Tyrian said before laughing. "But them's the breaks."

"This is for the village!" Ruby said kicking him over on his back.

"Do you have any last words?" Jaune asked.

"You don't have the balls." Tyrian said as they cocked their guns aiming down at him.

"Say goodnight, Mr. Callows." Ruby said dryly before both him and Jaune pulled the trigger.

The smoke of the guns never smelt sweet as the two turned around to leave the village as quickly as they shot him. As they left, they simply took a sigh of relief…the worst of it over. But they were not stopping until they could no longer see that village.

(A/N: I wanted to give equal moments to both Ruby and Jaune in taking down Tyrian. To show both Ruby's resolve and Jaune's determination to rise to the occasion. Something that would leave them both shaken, but able to push forward. Honestly, I'm pleased with how it ended up becoming this.)
