They arrived to find Jack standing with a group of suits, looking ready to shoot one of them as he read a piece of paper. Ianto exited the car with the normal grace and approached "Cariad?"
Jack shoved the paper at him as he said to the men "No. Not for sale."
Ianto looked at the paper and saw that it was a sale agreement for the tank, the uni-mog and three army transporters the village had. What really interested him was the amphibious vehicle back at the Lake House. How the hell did they know about that?
"Look Mister Harkness-Jones, we are offering you 5% above market value. Come on… this is not a big thing for you and it will help our cause greatly" the man said.
Cause?
Ianto looked at the letterhead. Black Shadow Company. He whipped out his pone and googled the company while standing at the roadside, watching Jack and them continue to argue the point.
Mercenaries for hire thinly cloaked as a private security group like soldiers only… black ops. He looked at the agreement and frowned as he read the inclusion of any ammunition and some of the village's legal Hoodlum weapons were listed. Finally he looked up to join the conversation "My husband said no."
"Look… mister…"
"No! You look!" Jack roared suddenly "How dare you. You come here all fill of matey smiles and congenial back patting but you can't even get things right. I am CAPTAIN Harkness-Jones and my husband there is DOCTOR Harkness-Jones. You have yet to call us by our hard fucking earned titles."
Jack was taking the high road. Ianto was fine with that as he raised his head to stare at them in a way he knew was off-putting, the Hoodlum stare. "You heard my husband, the Captain. Jog on."
"10% over and that is our final…"
Ianto turned to look a the man and took not of the wedding ring, tired look and spittle in a shoulder. A new baby keeping you up man? "You have a baby?"
"What? Yes" the man said with confusion.
"Colicky right?"
They all stared at him.
"Well?" Ianto said calmly "How much?"
"Excuse me?"
"Well… if we are purchasing anything we feckin want around here… how much for your kid?" Ianto leaned back on his heels.
"Look here mist… Doctor Harkness-Jones… my child is not for sale!" the man blurted with indignation.
"Right… neither is anything of ours. You get it now? Savvy? Now… kindly go fornicate with yourself somewhere else." Ianto raised his hand, the two finger salute in the man's face "Well?"
The men gaped at him as Jack started to roar with mirth. "Well… you heard him. Bigger off now lads."
Mountain surged forward and chest to chest… well… more nipple to nose ya know …. "You heard the boss. Fuck off mate or I will punt ya across the river without need of the feckin bridge."
"What the hell was that all about" Jack finally said as he tore up the piece of paper with open malice.
"Seems I am not the only one stockpiling for any incoming" Ianto said to himself.
