In which Percy is about as done with Sadie as a nine year old can be, she's just there trying not to start tutting. No replies today because I'm busy, I will reply to all the reviews tomorrow.

There was both good and bad news in the fact that the streets were busy- the good side was that it was a useful distraction- the cars on the road swerved to avoid him, pedestrians screamed and ran- Percy could not blame them one bit. The baboon began overturning taxis, smashing shop windows and causing general chaos.

Of course, that meant that more people were in danger- not good. Percy let out a frustrated little growl, whirling around despite Sadie's panicked protests, "Heh-sieh!" Percy focused, pouring as much focus as she could into the spell- and the baboon god halted for a moment, turning around- and Percy resisted the urge to whoop. It would only buy them a little time. Percy was well aware of that but it would buy her a few seconds at least.

"S-Sadie-" Liz's voice was terrified. Percy couldn't blame her for that. "What is that?"

"Babi." Sadie said quickly, "The bloody god of baboons. He's taken over my granddad and he wants to kill us."

"Excuse me." Emma's voice was stunned, disbelieving, "Did you just say that a baboon god wants to kill us?"

"Yes, yes she did." Percy snapped quickly, "And we need to keep running!"

"Who even are you?" Emma asked suddenly, "I've never seen you befo-"

"Emma, Liz, meet Percy, my little sister. She's right-"

"Wait this is that- this is the Percy the one you-"

"Not the time!" Because a dark shape was gliding towards them, "There!" and it looked like Nekhbet wasn't going to let them slip away- and Babi was turning back towards them.

Clearly Liz and Emma had come around somewhat to the situation because Emma kicked off her shoes and Liz tossed aside the present as the four girls took off again, zigzagging through alleyways, hugging walls for cover whenever the vulture goddess swept overhead.

Percy could hear Babi roaring from behind them as he tried to follow them, and the sound of his smashing up the neighbourhood- but they became more distant- it seemed that he'd lost their scent- at least for the moment.

They skidded to a halt at a T in the road, and Percy turned her head to look at Sadie, after all she knew London much better than Percy so she was the one who'd be able to navigate them to safety.

In front of them was a little church- an old looking building that looked out of place between the little cafe and a chemist's shop with neon sings offering selected hair products on sale. The church had a tiny graveyard enclosed with a rusty fence- nothing special- except for the fact that there was a boy stood by the gate- a familiar one, and Percy saw the way Sadie's expression shifted when he spoke.

"Sadie." And yep, Percy recognised Anubis alright. He was in his mortal form; a teen bot with dark hair and brown eyes, wearing a black Dead Weather T-shirt and black jeans.

Percy glanced at Sadie, her eyes wide- she definitely hadn't expected that on Sadie's day out- and Sadie looked like she hadn't been expecting it either.

The two other girls were gaping at Anubis- and Percy really didn't get it- sure she could kinda see that he was cute- she knew Sadie thought so, but he wasn't that special for the gods sake!

"Oh—ah—hi—who—what—?" Liz stammered, unable to even really form words- which earned her an incredulous look from Percy- and then Emma lost control of her legs and stumbled into Sadie.

Honestly, Percy hoped she never wound up like them.

"It's about time someone friendly showed up." Sadie complained, "There's a baboon and a vulture trying to kill us. Would you please sort them out? Percy would have probably done it already but they're inside of my grandparents and I don't want them actually dead."

Anubis pursed his lips at that- he didn't exactly look like he had good news- that wasn't a good sign was it?

Then the god was moving, opening the gate of the cemetery, "Come into my territory. We need to talk and there isn't much time."

"Y-your territory?" Emma's voice was shaking- understandable but annoying as far as Percy was concerned. "What do you mean-"

"He means that he's the god of Cemeteries." Percy went to step through the gate only to have Sadie grab her arm- and she shifted her gaze to her sister- and- Sadie's cheeks were slightly red- Percy pulled a face.

"You are Carter are gross."

"Yeah yeah, you'll get it some day. Besides, I want you to stay out here to protect Liz and Emma for me okay firecracker?"

"Firecracker-"

"Right, you're not a fire- whirlpool? Baby hurric-"

"I will kick you."

And then Sadie was darting through the gate, reaching back and shutting it behind her, leaving Percy with her two friends- who both turned to stare at the younger girl.

"What is going on here?" Emma blurted out after a second, "Who is that guy- what are those things chasing us and why are you even here-"

"Sadie invited me." Percy felt just slightly offended by that question.

"Yeah but I mean- she never talks about you." Liz spoke up, "She said she was staying with Carter in America and she didn't say much else about anything. I mean we assumed it was with her step-mum and you but she never talked about you so we thought-" and okay, okay that stung- though now probably wasn't the time for Percy to sulk over it. Especially not since she could still hear Nekhbet and Babi coming closer. But- well it still stung no matter what, and Percy cut Liz off before she could finish what she was saying.

"You thought Sadie still hated me right?" she crossed her arms over her chest, her bottom lip jutting out very slightly. "She doesn't-"

"Yeah, we can see that." Emma shifted, crossing her arms, "And what is going on here? You didn't answer Liz's question!"

"Ugh." Percy let out a huff, "Okay, the Egyptian gods are real, those two things chasing us are gods possessing Sadie's grandparents, our whole family are magicians who work with said gods- sometimes anyway. The two chasing us want to kill Sadie and I 'cause they think that something we're doing is wrong and stupid but we think it's the only way to save the world."

There was a long moment of silence as Emma and Liz stared at Percy before Liz let out a slightly hysterical laugh, "A-are you being serious?"

And that made Percy's face go red- she hated being laughed at, and okay she doubted that they were doing it to be mean but still, it grated on Percy's every nerve.

She glanced back towards where Sadie and Anubis were- they hadn't gone far, just far enough that they could talk privately- and Percy could see the slight shimmer in the air that meant that they weren't just in the waking world but in the uppermost layers of the Duat too.

Then Percy took a deep breath, focusing on Sadie's friends again, and she held up her khopesh, which made the two girls step back, "I have a sword." she pointed out, speaking slowly, as if to a couple of idiots. "And we are being chased by a baboon god and a vulture goddess, and you think I'm being anything but serious?"

"U-uh-" Emma held up her hands quickly, "Sorry- sorry we just- this is crazy this is all crazy you- I mean we believe you-"

"Yeah." Liz glanced back over her shoulder- Babi hadn't caught up to them yet- but they could hear him, the sounds getting louder as he got closer. Percy winced when she heard glass shattering in the distance.

"Good. Cause even if you don't believe us that won't stop the bad guys." Percy muttered the words, gripping her khopesh tighter. She hated this feeling-she was trapped, shut in with no way out. She couldn't fight without hurting Sadie's grandparents- but they were in danger just being possessed. She wished there was something she could do- or someone she could hit without worrying about hurting someone who she cared about.

"You-" Emma's voice was hesitant, "Do you know how to use that thing?" her eyes were lingering on the khopesh- and Percy shifted her grip.

"Yes." She took a deep breath, "I've killed one god with it before."

"But you're nine." Liz looked almost horrified. "You shouldn't be fighting-"

"Yeah the bad things don't care how old I am." Percy declared before she let out a panicked noise when she spotted Babi a few blocks away lumbering
towards the church. Clearly he'd spotted them.

"What do we do?" Emma asked quickly even as Percy shoved her free hand into the Duat, pulling her wand free, if she had to she'd summon a shield but they needed to get moving again quickly.

"We need Sadie- we need Sadie like, like now." Percy wanted her big sister- if she was close then they could work together- and Percy would be able to protect her.

"SADIE!" Liz screamed the name before Percy could even finish what she was saying-which honestly, Percy could appreciate. Why wait around for someone to finish explaining when you knew what you needed to do after all.

"Well, hopefully she heard that." Percy took a deep breath before she saw Babi ripping something out of the ground- and oh but that was not good- a moment later a red- something, Percy wasn't sure what it was came hurtling through the air-and Percy crouched, drawing the wand along the ground- and it was just in time, the red thing- which was nearly as tall as Percy smashed into the building next door- and bricks and stone flew out from the impact- they rained down on the shield Percy had summoned harmlessly, though Percy was pretty sure that would have hurt if some of those stone hit them.

"Oh my god-" Emma shrieked the words, "You just- how did you- you just- what is that?"

"It's a shield." the youngest Kane muttered the words. And don't thank me yet. We've still got a terrifying baboon god and an evil hag of a vulture goddess coming for us." Percy twisted, taking a deep breath before; "SADIE!" she screamed even louder than Liz had, whirling to look towards her sister- and the shimmery mist was fading- and she blinked slowly as she saw Anubis pressing his lips to Sadie's.

Percy blinked. And okay-okay she'd noticed that Sadie had a crush on Anubis- she had a picture of him in her room for the gods sake, but she hadn't expected that! And what about Walt? She was pretty sure her big sister was crushing on him too.

Honestly Percy just didn't get it sometimes. And it was so annoying when Carter or Sadie would say it was because she was little- even her mom did it!
And Sadie looked dazed, her eyes wide, mouth hanging just slightly open.

Percy let out an annoyed groan and she pushed the gate open, rushing towards Sadie with Emma and Liz just behind her. "Sadie! Move move move move!"

"I-" Sadie blinked rapidly before shaking herself and grabbing Percy's hand, "Right, right I'm moving!"

And together the group took off again, Sadie once more leading the way- and this time she looked like she actually knew where she was going, a fact that

Percy was very grateful for because she could hear Babi and Nekhbet in fierce pursuit.

And Sadie just kept running until they were heading into the London Underground.

As they plunged inside Emma managed to turn her head to look at Sadie. "Who was that boy? God he was hot!"

"A god." Sadie muttered the words,"Yes."

"Ew." Percy pulled a face, "You're so gross Sadie-" and- and was she humming happy birthday as they were hunted down by an evil baboon god and an evil vulture goddess? Seriously?
