Hello! It's been quite a while since I last posted anything. In my quest to start writing more, I've decided to make this collection of shorts. They are not in chronological order, but they are the same universe. Please enjoy, and if you have any prompts for moments you'd like to see, feel free to drop a review and I'll do my best to accommodate.
Snow
Snow was falling in the kind of large flakes that stuck to hair and eyelashes. The kind that was perfect for catching on your tongue. Students were bundled from head to toe as they tramped through the foot of snow, trying to stave off the bitter cold as they walked the grounds towards Hogsmeade.
Lily Evans didn't care about the cold, though, as she stared up at the clouds, completely mesmerized by the snowflakes falling around her. Sticking her tongue out to catch a few frozen flakes.
"Your tongue is going to freeze." Said a familiar voice beside her.
Lily jumped. She hadn't been paying attention to the crunching of footsteps coming towards her. She turned her head towards her companion and smiled, "Don't you just love the snow?"
Marlene McKinnon smiled back ruefully, "I suppose it is pretty. I just can't stand the static."
Lily laughed, "You mean you don't enjoy having your hair stand on end all the time?"
"It's not my best look, no." Marlene replied.
With another chuckle, Lily linked her arm with Marlene's and started walking towards the castle gates. "Come on, then. Let's go get warm."
Just as the girls passed through the gates, they heard a shout from their right before a snowball smashed into the side of Lily's head.
Marlene started, completely stunned. "What the hell? Where did that come from?"
Turning as one, the girls spotted a completely mortified James Potter.
"Sorry!" He squeaked, wincing as he did so. Roaring laughter could be heard from behind them as Sirius Black came stumbling over to James.
"Mate, that was perfect. Perfect!"
James shoved Sirius into a snowbank and then cautiously made his way over to Lily. "Are you okay?"
Lily glowered at him as she pulled chunks of snow out of her long red hair. "Maybe you should learn how to aim."
James winced and raised his wand. He wordlessly vanished the snow from her hat, hair, and coat and cast a warming charm over both her and Marlene.
"I'm perfectly capable of doing magic myself, Potter." Lily said with pink cheeks and less force then any of them had expected.
"I know." He said softly, "I was trying to hit Sirius, but the twat hid behind you before I'd even realized I'd thrown the ball. I'm sorry."
Lily stared at him for a moment, before sighing. "Just pay better attention next time."
James' eyes widened. "Yes, ma'am!"
He gave her a short salute and stepped aside as they continued down the path. James felt Sirius' hand come down on his shoulder.
"Well that was unexpected."
"Yeah…" James said slowly.
"I reckon you're finally starting to grow on her." Sirius said, raising his eyebrows in surprise.
James' eyes followed the redhead as she disappeared behind the snow covered trees. His face filled with wonder. "I'm growing on her…"
