A few days after leaving the circus and the entire city, Flik was now walking in a desert tired and thirsty.

"OH! What was I thinking?" Flik asked himself. "I'm stranded in a desert. But it's too late to go back now. I'll never find my way back."

Flik was very tired. Suddenly he fainted.

Meanwhile two Apatosauruses (A brown male and blue female) were walking by.

"So Alpa the baby will be coming soon." The male told his mate.

"Yes Bron, The egg will soon be here." Alpa told him.

"Wait Alpa look." Bron told her.

They noticed The unconscious Flik.

"It's an ant." Alpa said. "Is he...?

"No, he's alive, just unconscious." Bron answered. "Let's get him out of the heat."

"Yes let's get him out of the sun." Alpa agreed.

They carried him into the shade and sprayed water on him.

"Huh, what?" Flik wondered.

"Hello, are you alright." Alpa asked.

"Uh yes. Uh what happened?" Flik asked her.

"We found you in the desert. You were unconscious so we brought you back here." Bron answered, bringing a leaf with water on it. "Here have some water."

"Thanks." Flik said before drinking the water on the leaf. He than started leaving.

"Uh wait. I'm Alpa and this is my husband Bron." Alpa told him.

"What's your name?" Bron asked the ant.

"Flik." He answered.

"Uh Flik, pardon me for asking, but are you lost. Don't you ants usually live in colonies?" Alpa asked. "Where is yours?"

"Who cares, I can't go back." He told her.

"Why not?" She asked him.

"I've been-" He hesitated for a bit. "Exiled."

"You're an outcast?" Bron asked him.

"Bron?!" Alpa snapped.

"Sorry." he apologized.

"It's okay. He's right I am an outcast." Flik answered

"Well where do you stay now?" Bron asked.

"I don't have another home." He answered.

"Well we can't have that." Alpa said. "Flik you may stay with us."

"Thanks but, you don't want me around." Flik told her. "I'm an incompetent screw up. I only mess things up for myself and everyone else."

"Now Flik, you can't be serious, we all make mistakes." Bron told him.

"Not like me." Flik said. "And not as often."

"Now Flik, this is a very dangerous place, we're offering you a nice home and protection." Bron said.

"Well, I guess I probably won't get the offer again from someone else." Flik thought. "I'm in."

"Good." Alpa said as she used her tail to put Flik on her back. "Now Flik if it's all right with you. could you perhaps explain your troubles to us. It could help."

"All right." Flik said.

"Well, my colony wasn't exactly a happy place." He started. "We're, or they're under the rein of grasshoppers."

"Grasshoppers?" Bron asked.

"Yes every year they force us to gather food for them or we pay a huge price." Flik explained.

"Oh my!" Alpa said.

"Yes, but sometime ago, it happened." Flik told the Apatasaurs.

"What happened?" Bron wondered.

"One year, we were gathering food for them, and I...I was showing off an invention." He explained.

"An invention?" They both asked.

"Yes, I wanted to make the lives of everyone easier, but no one could see any good in it. Especially...her."

"Who?" Alpa asked.

He stuttered but than finally brought it to mention her name.

"Atta." He decided not to mention she was a princess.

They both took interest of the girl he mentioned.

"But my invention is what caused the problem." He admitted.

"How so?" Bron asked.

"Well when the grasshoppers were on the verge of arrival, we were all ordered to put the food in the offering and then go into the anthill." Flik said.

"I was the last one outside. When I put the food I had there." He came to a stop.

"Well? What happened?" Bron asked him.

"My invention caused all the food to spill into water." He openly admitted.

Bron and Alpa gasped at his confession.

"Well what happened next?" Bron wondered.

"Well I tried to warn them but no one would listen to me." Flik stated "And then the grasshoppers invaded the anthill, and boy were they angry. Especially Hopper."

"I assume that's the leader." Bron guessed.

"You assume correctly." Flik told him.

"Well what did he do?" Alpa asked.

"Well, first he messed up the anthill, than he told us that he would give us a second chance. He was told that we needed the time to gather food for ourselves." Flik explained. "But he wouldn't listen to reason."

"So what did you ants do? Alpa questioned.

"Well he tried threatening us. So I...I" Flik began but stopped.

"You what?" Bron asked the young blue ant.

"I stood up to him." He finally said.

"Oh that's good." Alpa said.

"No that was very bad. A huge mistake." Flik disagreed.

"Why?" Bron asked.

"Because." Flik began "It made Hopper really upset. So he demanded that we double our payment, or else."

"Your kidding." Bron said.

"If only." Flik said. "It was all my fault."

"Now now. It was just an accident." Alpa assured him.

"Yeah an accident that cost us everything." Flik groaned.

"So is that what led to your exile?" Bron asked.

"No, though I wish it was." Flik told him.

"Why?" He asked.

"Because it wouldn't have been nearly as painful as what really caused my banishment." Flik answered.

"Well what did happen?" Alpa asked.

"Well, I was on trial in front of the council. They told me to stop helping them because all I do is mess everything up." Flik explained

"Aha." They both said.

"But then, I had an idea. We should get help, big bugs to fight off the grasshoppers and send them away forever and ever." Flik revealed.

"That's sounds brilliant." Bron chimed in.

"Thanks, at first they all thought it was stupid. But for some reason they all changed their minds suddenly." Flik said, if only he knew.

"So then what happened?" Bron asked.

"Well, I went to the city to find bugs." Flik told him.

"Like a human city?" Alpa asked.

"No of course not. A bug city." He told her.

"Oh."

"Well then I found a group of bugs, and they seemed like tough fighters." Flik said. "So I asked them to come back to our island with me."

"So what went wrong?" Bron wondered.

"When I brought them back to the island, and they discovered they were supposed to fight grasshoppers. They told me they were circus bugs."

"Circus Bugs?!" The apatosaurs said in unison.

"Yes, so they secretly tried to leave but I tried to convince them otherwise." Flik said. "But than a bird attacked, so me and them managed to fend it off. We were seen as heroes."

"You seemed very brave." Alpa said.

"Thanks, but after that...Atta...told me that Hopper had a fear of birds. So I told the Circus Bugs to help me make a fake bird to scare them off. The entire colony helped."

"So did it work?" Bron questioned.

"No, when the bird was finished...the circus master, P.T. Flea showed up looking for his troop." Flik explained. "He spilled the beans about everything, and I was sunk."

"What did the other ants say?" Alpa question Flik.

"They accused me of lying because I said the Circus Bugs were Warrior Bugs. But I tried my best." Flik said.

"I'm sure you did, and when you realized the mistake you made you tried to make to most of it as best you could." Alpa told him.

"So was this your exile?" Bron asked the ant.

"Yes, Atta herself told me to go, and never come back." Flik told them.

"When did all this happen?" Bron asked.

"Just only a few days ago." Flik revealed.

"Well I'm sorry to hear everything." Alpa said.

"Thanks Alpa." Flik said. "After that I went back with the Circus Bugs. But then I left and met you two. Thanks for letting me stay with you." Flik told them.

"No problem, Flik." Alpa said.

"Well Flik, if you don't mind me asking, this Atta girl. Bron started.

Flik got worried. "Uh what about her?"

"Well she sounded like more than just a friend to you. I'm sorry for asking, but, were you and her..." He came to a stop.

"No, but I did kind of like her. Okay I was head over heels for her." He admitted.

"I thought so." Said Bron.

"As did I." Replied Alpa.

"Well that was the past. Besides she was way out of my league. I was a fool to think it could ever happen." Flik told them.

"Now Flik believe it or not, I used to think the same thing about myself and Alpa. But now look at us." Bron said.

"Yes but, this is different, Atta wasn't just some other ant in the colony." Flik revealed. "She was the princess."

"The princess?!" Bron and Alpa said in unison.

"Yes, what's worse is that before I was caught, I had caught her eye. There was some chemistry between us. But now that's ruined.

"I see." Bron told him.

"Yes, but I've decided to move on from and forget about everything. Especially her." Flik said. "I'm also through with those dumb inventions. They ruined my old life. I'm not gonna let them ruin my new life."

"Well Flik you certainly are a strong ant." Bron told him.

"You know, Bron and I are expecting, our first child soon, our child could use a friend and a babysitter."

"All right." Flik said. "I do love kids."

"Splendid." Bron said.

Soon they reached two more apatosauruses. they were greyish blue.

"Mother, Father." Alpa called.

"Bron, Alpa." You've both returned Alpa's father called.

Then Apla's mother noticed the young Flik. "Alpa dear, you have a bug on your back."

"Oh yes, mother and father meet Flik." She said.

"Flik?" They both said.

"Yes we found him alone struggling in the desert and brought him back here." Bron explained.

"Well, where's his home?" Alpa's dad asked.

They all then retold the story to them.

"I see." Said Alpa's mother.

"Well Flik, welcome to the herd." Alpa's father said.

"Thank you sir." Flik said.

"Please Flik call us Grandma and Grandpa Apatosauruses. Because that's what will be soon."

"Yes I heard. Congratulations to all of you." Flik complimented them.

"Thank you." They all said.

Flik could tell this was a new start for him and he wasn't gonna screw this up. Like he said no more inventions. Little did he know this was not the end of his story. In fact it was only the beginning.
