I only own my OC, Taylor, I do not own Tess, or any of the Kubo and the Two Strings characters.
As they kept moving, Taylor soon felt the feeling, this time she said, "Guys, I have a feeling we're being watch."
Monkey was wary now, but kept moving, and said while going down a hill, "Tread carefully Kubo. This isn't one of your stories."
Kubo walked on the eye of one of the statues they were near, with Tess still on his shoulders, and asked, "How do you know? Maybe it is. And I'm the valiant hero, Taylor is a sorceress, due to her abilities."
"Sorceress?!" Taylor cried, glaring at him.
"Tess is her fateful pet," Kubo said.
"Pet?!" Tess said, glaring him as well.
Kubo then said, "And you're the mean monkey."
Monkey sighs, then said, "Heroes come and go. Any moment, something terrible could come out of nowhere and..." Monkey stopped when she turned, and saw Kubo and Tess were gone, shocking her, and Taylor, who notices this.
"Taylor!" cries Tess.
"Monkey!" cries Kubo.
Taylor and Monkey gasped, and said, "Tess!"
"Kubo!" cried Monkey, and the two soon ran into the eye, jumped down, while Monkey landed, Taylor used the Staff Helicopter to hover down, looked, and saw an anthropomorphic beetle. They two soon chased the beetle through a tunnel, until its shadow shown it stopped, put Kubo and Tess down, and looked like it was about to attack them.
They both glared, Taylor was getting her staff read, while Monkey grabbed a bone when they turned, got ready to attack, but Kubo soon said, "Monkey, Taylor, wait."
They slid, and stopped, but Taylor landed on her chest, and said in a groaning voice, "Ouch, that hurt."
Kubo felt sorry for her, but then said, "He wasn't trying to hurt us."
"He wasn't, then why was he stalking us?" Taylor said, getting up.
Kubo replied, "He just wanted..." Kubo stopped, looked at the beetle, then said, "Hanzo."
"Hanzo?" the Beetle asked, which sounded like a man, turning toward the group, while Tess got on Taylor's shoulder.
Tess soon said, "Man, that was the second time I got caught by something."
"When was the first time?" Kubo asked.
"It's a long story," Taylor replied.
The beetle soon looked down, then saw Little Hanzo, went to his level, and said, "Hanzo." He soon showed his finger to Little Hanzo, which Little Hanzo shook, then went up on Beetle, causing him to chuckle as Little Hanzo was on his head.
Monkey soon glared at the beetle, and said, "I still think I'm gonna stab him."
"Why must you always assume the worst?" Kubo asked.
Monkey soon replied, shrugging her shoulders, "Oh! Oh! Pardon me for not trusting this giant, spiky, insect-monster that just kidnapped you and Tess."
The beetle was still having fun with Little Hanzo, then said, "Hanzo. Yes, I remember him. I think, maybe, he was my master."
"What? What did you say?" Kubo asked, shocking him.
The beetle soon looked at the group, and replied, "We had a crest. A samurai crest," he soon lowers Little Hanzo, then crawled up the walls to the ceiling. Taylor and Tess looked up in confusion, Kubo was excited, while Monkey still glares at him. Beetle soon dropped down, showed them a banner, which had the symbol of a beetle, and asked, "Have you seen this crest before?" Everyone looked at each other, while Kubo was excited, turned and showed the beetle crest on the back of his robes. Beetle then gasps, and said, "This is a miracle," he looks at Kubo and said, "You have our robes. You're wearing our robes!" Beetle stops, then asked, "Why are you wearing our robes?"
"He doesn't have to answer your questions," Monkey replied, still in a defensive stance, then asked, "Anyway, who are you?"
Beetle sighs, then replies, "Many years ago, I was cursed," he soon turned, walks to a wall of weapons that was at behind him, as he continued, "Trapped in this cursed state. Cursed to wonder the Far Lands. Cursed or curs-ed. No comrades, no master," everyone was feeling sorry for him, except Monkey, as he continued while hanging the banner, "Not even a name or a single memory," he soon sits down, grabs a bow, then said, "of the noble warrior I once was."
Kubo soon asked, "You used to be a man?"
Beetle perks up, and said, "No, not just any man," he then got up, did a stance, and said, "A samurai," he then thought, and said, "I mean I'm pretty certain," Taylor soon sees Little Hanzo going somewhere, while Beetle said, "Look, I had the stuff. I mean, I'm either a samurai or a really bad hoarder. Either way, inside my thorax beats the heart of a warrior."
"If you have no memory, how can you be certain of anything?" Monkey asked.
"Because I get flashes," Beetle replied, Taylor sees Little Hanzo poking at a samurai armor, while Beetle explained, "They come about from objects I find on my travels." Some of the armor, and a sword fell, nearly missing Little Hanzo, as Beetle said, "Sometimes it's a sound," Little Hanzo felt a relieved, but the helmet fell on top of him, while beetle continued, "Or a smell."
Monkey sniffs, then said, "You must get a lot of flashes."
"The memories, they fade. And all I'm left with is the sense that I was once part of something greater," Beetle said.
Kubo looked and asked, "Monkey, can I tell him?"
"I really don't think that's a good idea," Monkey replied.
"He has a right," Kubo said.
"Absolutely not," Monkey replied back.
Kubo said, "But... I..."
"No 'buts.' No!" Monkey replied again.
Beetle crawls towards them and asked, "What? Tell me what?"
"Hanzo was my father," Kubo replied.
"Kubo!" Monkey exclaims in frustration.
Beetle then laughs, and said, "This is a miracle," he then picks up Kubo, and said, "I have found the son of my master," he puts him down.
He was about to grab Monkey, but she said with a glare, "Don't even."
"Oh," Beetle said, retracting his arms, then said, "Whatever brings you to these lands, whatever your quest," he kneels, bows, and said, "it is my quest, too. I will join you, and I will give my life for you, if necessary."
"Wow. You will?" Kubo asked.
Beetle looked up, and asked, "What? Do you think that's possible?" He soon gets up, and said, "Look, kid, I mean, I know how these quests go. People die all the time," Taylor sees Little Hanzo trying to move while still have the helmet on him, as Beetle continued, "They drop like flies. That doesn't matter." There was some clattering from Little Hanzo, causing Taylor to winced, while Beetle said, "'Cause I have a feeling," he soon stood up, lifts up his upper left arm with a fist and said, "this is my destiny."
"No, it isn't!" Monkey exclaims to Beetle, she then moves close, pointing the bone at him, and said, "We can't trust anything you say, because you can't trust anything you say." Beetle whacks away the bone with a glare, then Monkey comes near him, and said, "We don't know anything about you."
Kubo soon plays the shamisen, and an origami bird came between them, surprising them. Kubo then said while the bird went into Kubo's sleeve, "Monkey, you said it yourself." He soon walks to them, and said, "Our quest is a difficult one," he looks at Beetle, and said, "A samurai, even a cursed one with no memory, that looks like a bug, could be helpful."
"Well, we do need a guide who knows the Far Lands like the back of his hands," Taylor said.
"Yes, I am certain I could be helpful. Indispensable. And I know from my years of travels, I know a lot of the Far Lands," Beetle said.
"For being helpful and indispensable, in what way?" Monkey asked. Beetle then took the bow, and his arrows, and shot one arrow, which hit the wall. Monkey soon said, "Firing an arrow into a wall is hardly what I call..." Monkey however was interrupted as he shot many arrows with his arms, hitting and splitting each other, except for the last one, causing Monkey to say, "Impressive."
"Oh, look at that," Beetle said, looking at his bow, and said, "Literally, the first time I've ever done it," he moves to the group, and said, "Just tell me of our quest," he then kneels on one leg, and said, "and I will demonstrate my numerous indispensabilities."
"Well, it's kind of a long story," Kubo replied.
Beetle soon said, "You got my attention. I promise I won't even blink. I actually don't think I even can blink. Do I have eyelids?" Beetle soon widened his eyes.
"Fine," said Monkey, pushing Kubo, and then said, "Walk and talk. Hanzo has found a path."
Kubo soon went to Little Hanzo, who was pointing with his sword a ladder, got the helmet off him, then looks at Taylor, Tess, Beetle, and Monkey with a smile, and climbs up the ladder with Little Hanzo. Beetle was about to follow him, when Monkey stopped him with her arm, making him look at her, and she pointed to fingers at her eyes, then pointed one at him, as if to say, 'I'm keeping an eye on you!' and followed Kubo.
"So, you used to be a toy monkey," Beetle said, while the group walked.
Monkey soon said, "Kubo, I really don't see how this part is important to our story.
Kubo turned to the group, and said, "I kept her in my pocket. She was only like this big," he moved his hands to show the size of her.
Monkey clears her throat, and said, "Okay, Kubo, that's enough."
"Tiny. And she was called 'Mr. Monkey,'" Kubo continued.
Monkey soon said, "I wasn't a toy. I was a charm."
Beetle soon laughs, and said, "Of course you were."
Little Hanzo waved his sword, making everyone stop, jumps off of Kubo's shoulder, ran off, points at a crack, unfolds into paper, and went through the crack.
Everyone looked through the crack, then Tess said, "Okay, there's no way we can get through that crack."
They soon see Little Hanzo again, coming out of a different crack, and points at it.
Taylor soon puts her ear to a wall, knocked on it, and said, "It's hollow," then said, "Anyone have a hard head?"
So, they found what was stalking them, a beetle that was once a man, and Little Hanzo has found something, I wonder what it is? Anyway, if you're reading this, thanks for reading.
