I only own my OC, Taylor, I do not own Tess, or any of the Kubo and the Two Strings characters.

They sail across the Long Lake, while Little Hanzo points the way.

During this, Beetle was teaching Kubo how to shoot an arrow, and said, "Okay, now take a deep breath," they both inhaled deeply, then Beetle said, "Clear you mind," they both exhale, then Beetle said, "Guess I got that part covered, causing Kubo to laugh, then Beetle said, "Now, draw back slowly," Kubo does what Beetle said, who then said, "That's it. Close one eye. Guess you got that part covered." Kubo lowers the bow, laughs, then Beetle while using his arms to get Kubo back into position said, "Concentrate on what is directly in front of you. Let everything else fall away. And release!" Kubo shoots the arrow, hitting a fish, causing Beetle to exclaim in excitement.

"Yeah!" Kubo exclaims.

"Perfect shot!" Beetle said, rubbing Kubo's hair, pumps his upper arms, and said, "Perfect shot!"

"Not bad," Monkey said who was watching at the front of the boat, then asked, "And what's your plan for getting the fish into the boat, so we can actually eat it?"

Beetle and Kubo were silent, as the fish soon sinks down into the lake. Taylor soon said, "I'm guessing either of you did not think that through."

Beetle soon replies to Monkey, "Well, I said I was teaching him how to shoot, not fish," he holds an arrow, and said, "Fishing is tomorrow's lesson."

Monkey soon takes the arrow from his hand and said, "Give me that," and walks away.

"Whoa," cried Beetle, paused, then said, "Grabby monkey."

Monkey soon ties a rope to the arrow, gives it to Kubo, and said, "Now try it."

Beetle then clears his throat, and said while moving Kubo, "Pull back and..." Kubo fires, and they both exclaim that Kubo hit a fish.

"Whoo-hoo!" cried Kubo.

Beetle looks at the rope, and said, "A rope," he chuckles, and said, "That's a pretty good idea," he soon begins to pull the rope to get the fish.

"Hmm. And you're not an awful shot," Monkey said.

They both chuckle, while Kubo was confused, then said, "Okay, now you two are being weird."

"It's stuff you might not understand yet, Kubo," Tess said.

Eventually they got some fish on the boat, Beetle grabs them, and said, "Um... We're going to need something to cut this with."

Monkey grabs them, tosses them up, used the sword, which got a sheath, and sliced up the fish into pieces, everyone looks at her in awe, as she said as she sheaths it, "Sword Unbreakable."

Everyone began eating the fish, Taylor soon said, "I never tasted Sushi before, but it's really delicious."

Little Hanzo soon was on Beetle's wooden trey, uses his sword to lift the sushi up to Beetle's mouth, who he soon catches all but one. Kubo however was looking at that and laughed, while monkey looked in disgust, while Beetle chuckles.

"Sheesh, boys can have some bad table manners," Tess said.

"Tess!" scolded Taylor.

Monkey soon said, "No, Tess's right. Must you play with your food?"

Kubo, Beetle, and Little Hanzo looked at her, while the piece that Beetle missed landed on his trey, and replied, "Yes." Kubo looks at them, smiling, but then felt sad, then Beetle asked, "What's the matter, Kubo?" Kubo looks at Beetle, who said, "You act like you've never had a meal sitting between a monkey and a beetle before, let alone with a girl and a ferret."

"Ottsel, Beetle, ottsel," Tess corrected.

Kubo soon replied, "I've never had a meal sitting between anyone before."

Taylor soon said, "Hey, back at your home, Tess and I sat and ate rice. Remember?"

"Oh, right, that was different," Kubo replied.

"Come on, eat. You need energy," Monkey said, she then looks at the sushi in her hand, and said, "And this is much better than whale soup," she then eats it.

"Kubo, question," Beetle said, while swallowing what was in his mouth, and asked, "Before you started on your heroic quest, what were you like?"

"Well, I looked after my mother mostly," Kubo replied, putting his sushi down, then continued, "And I told stories about mighty warriors seeking revenge with battle, and monsters, and magic," he did some had poses, then said, "I was pretty good at telling them." He then lowers his eye and head, chuckles a bit, and said, "Not so good at ending them." He pauses, then said, "Sometimes I would tell my mother stories about little things."

"Like what?" Tess asked.

Kubo replied, "Like skimming rocks across the river or catching fireflies in the mulberry fields." He paused, then said, "And when I told those stories, I could see her eyes were mostly clear. I could tell she saw me. Really saw me." Beetle, Monkey, Taylor, and Tess smile at this, then Kubo said, "I could see her too. Her real self," he moves his hair a bit, and continued, "Her spirit trying to fight its way out," he then looks at Beetle, and said, "It was beautiful."

Monkey places a hand on Kubo's shoulder, still smiling, then Beetle asked, "You know something, Kubo?" Kubo looks at him, as Beetle continued, "Back when you just told stories, before you went on this great adventure, you were still very much a hero." Kubo smiles a bit, then Beetle soon asked, "What about you and your ottsel friend, Taylor?" Taylor looks at him as he said, "During our travels so far, you said you were through many adventures. What were they before you joined Kubo?"

Taylor was about to reply, but then they heard some thunder rumbling, Taylor soon replied, "I might have to answer when we get to shore, and fast."

Monkey soon climbs up the mast, saw a storm coming behind the boat, then looked ahead, and saw the sun was setting. She looks down, and said, "Taylor's right. We're going have to head for shore. Find a hiding place and..." Monkey stopped, as she sees something. Everyone looked, and saw Little Hanzo was pointing down into the water.

Everyone looks and Kubo said, "The second piece of the armor."

"The Breastplate Impenetrable," Monkey said, they heard the thunder rumbling, as Monkey asked, "It's down there?"

Beetle steps on the edge of the boat, and said, "Okay, I got it."

"Beetle, wait!" Kubo said.

"No, don't worry," Beetle said, stretching his arms and said, "Beetles can hold their breath under water for a very long time."

"What? Since when?" Monkey asked.

"It's a well-known fact, Monkey," Beetle replied.

Monkey soon asked, "So, you don't remember anything at all, but beetles swimming? That's what sticks in there?"

Kubo soon stops Beetle, and said, "No, Beetle. My mother told me a story about the Long Lake," they soon look over the water, as Kubo said, "There's something under the water."

"Oh, yeah?" Beetle asked, then slowly looks at Kubo, and said, "Um... What kind of something?"

Kubo replies, "She said there was a garden of eyes, eyes that stare into you, into your soul. They show you secrets, things to keep you down there with them," he then looks at the water, then looks at Beetle and said, "Forever."

Beetle felt frightened, then said, "Okay," then smiled, and said, "Well, I won't look directly into anyone's eyes," he then places a hand on Kubo's shoulder, and said, "even if I'm being incredibly sincere." Beetle winks at Kubo while he said that, then looks at Monkey, places a finger on her chin, and said, "You're gonna miss me, Monkey," he then clicks his tongue, goes to the railing, crosses his arms and jumps in, feet first into the water.

Everyone looks down, then Monkey said, "Be careful."

Soon it begins raining, then Taylor thought of something, takes out the feather, and uses Enhanced Clairvoyance, which was showing the snowy area from where Kubo woke up. There was a snowstorm, but Kubo's gourd that he had on him back at the village was a bit buried in the snow with some of his robes that he left behind. Suddenly, she sees a small scythe landing on the robe, then a chain was connected, and one of Kubo's aunts landed nearby. She tugs at the chain and the scythe, with some of the robe, flies towards her, but she grabs it. She looks up, and said, "He's searching for the armor just like his insolent father."

"Yes, sister," said the other one, who landed near her.

The first sister soon looks at her sister, and said, "Then we must ensure he does not find what remains." Soon they leaped up, and went their separate ways through blue light, as Taylor sees the moon as well.

Taylor took off her goggles, and said, "I hope Beetle will find it soon, we'll be having company."

Kubo had a meal, and the group found the location of the Breastplate Impenetrable, but will Beetle be able to get it? Anyway, if you're reading this, thanks for reading.
