It was another day for the pink-haired elf resident of the Margrave's mansion. It's only three days ago that she had been a new member of the residence, being a fully fledged guest. And in these three days, she hadn't even done anything yet. She was just busy exploring the mansion, on several occasions tried to interact with Beatrice, which seems simple, but the drill-haired loli was busy with taking care of her contractor. Teaching him and what not.
Other than that, she can be seen avoiding Emilia. If she can't she would just give a frail smile to her, and silence came after. It was awkward for the two.
Emilia was confused on why this Ryuzu clone always avoids her, and doesn't even bother engaging in conversation with her. While Omega, we all know why Omega doesn't want to talk with Emilia. She hated her after everything that had happened in the sanctuary.
For the rest, it was just another guest. For Roswaal, he struck gold. He was finally with his sensei again. He was happy on the inside, but on the outside, he tried to play things off as if it was just another normal day.
He didn't need Subaru anymore, so why does he need to save him this time? He would just use his ability if things go wrong. The problem is, the three girls that are currently looking after him. He also took a hint that his sensei had an eye on the boy. Either things will go wrong if he decides to abuse his ability, or no one would give a damn.
'We've been here for three days and yet you still haven't helped them yet.' Satella said.
'Yeah Dona, when will you help Baru?' Typhon asks.
'Maybe Chid-Chid wouldn't help him, and just wants to observe him' Daphne answers.
Echidna is growing frustrated at what's happening.
'What happened to not bothering me? You all've been like this two days ago.' Echidna replied to all of the witches.
'Well, you did ask us to shut up for only one day, remember?' Minerva pointed out, rather teasingly against the Witch of Greed.
'I know, I know, but can you please limit your chatter?' She asks them. 'I just want to observe this place for a bit more, then I'll help him.' She added.
'*Sigh* Your curiosity knows no bounds.' Sekhmet commented.
'Good that you know, now please leave me alone.' Echidna said, in which she was left alone already by the other witches.
'Now that they're gone, let's see if I could pay a visit to that boy.' She thought as she was now looking out the window of the hall, outside she saw the black-haired boy in his wheelchair having a conversation with the half-elf who is now taking care of him.
"What are you looking at outside I suppose?" Beatrice comes in, to which stuns Omega.
"B-Beatrice! You're here…" She utters back, her voice going back to that shy tone.
"Why are you looking at Betty's contractor I wonder?" She asks Omega, her suspicions on Omega have been there ever since she became a new resident.
"Looks like you've returned my beloved Sensei to me, Subaru Natsuki." Uttered Roswaal through the door of his office. He was heard by Beatrice, who was listening from behind the door.
"So that's why you reek of miasma, I suppose." Beatrice whispers to herself.
'So you walk again mother…' She thought. She doesn't know how to feel. Should she be happy or mad? Happy that her mother was alive again, or be mad because her mother left her there in that damn library just for an experiment? She could've stayed there for until who knows when, if Subaru hadn't showed up.
Rem could be seen walking up to Beatrice, rather concerned for the spirit, who she rarely sees back then.
"Beatrice-sama, is there something wrong?" Rem asks the spirit as she gets nearer to her.
"Hm, keep an eye on our new guest I suppose." Beatrice said to the maid.
"Huh? But why?" Rem asks the spirit, rather confused.
"Just keep an eye on her, and do not be aggressive towards her in fact. I am not telling you she's an enemy, I'm telling you to observe her as she resides in this mansion I suppose." Beatrice said.
"Is it because of the miasma?" Rem asks.
"Precisely I suppose. But don't attack her, she lacks the gospel." Beatrice confirmed to Rem.
For Rem she really wants to attack the newcomer now, but when Beatrice said she lacks the gospel, there's no way in hell she'll attack her now.
"Alright Beatrice-sama, I'll do as you wish." Rem said, as she bows then walks off through the hall passing the little spirit.
"Looks like I have to confront you soon, mother…" Beatrice utters, as she knows, soon she may have a talk with her mother, or a fight in a mother and daughterly way.
Back to the present, Omega was still putting her shy act at the face of Beatrice, seemingly fooling the little spirit.
"I was just looking at Natsuki-kun, he seems so peaceful and lively." Omega answers.
"Hmph! Even though Betty's contractor seems like an idiot, he still is Betty's contractor, which Betty is proud to have." The Spirit boasted crossing her arms.
'Seems like you really did change Beatrice…' Echidna thought.
"Well then, Betty will head outside, want to come?" Beatrice asks, to which the acting Echidna acted her personality perfectly, albeit the little spirit was seeing through her act the entire time.
"S-Sure!" Omega replied with joy.
"Come with Betty I suppose." Beatrice said as she now walked off.
"Right!" Omega said as she followed the little spirit.
And so, both little spirit and pink-haired elf went on their way to be with Subaru.
Speaking of Subaru…
"You'll be going to Felix tomorrow." Emilia said, although it pains her to say that Felix failed to really heal Subaru, thanks to the fact that he lost his memories.
'Why am I entrusting Felix to heal him…' She sighed in her thoughts. She hated to entrust him again to those who had clearly failed him. Then again, she would be a hypocrite, going against Subaru sticking with those who had failed him, when in fact she too had failed him.
But it was for the best, after all, Felix was the only one who could heal Subaru right now. His legs were paralyzed, and he was in a wheelchair for days now. She just hoped that Felix doesn't fail this time. But now is not the time for that, she's with Subaru, and she's content with it.
"Will you be coming along, Emilia-chan?" Subaru asks. He grew fond of the people in the mansion. His memories were gone, but his personality didn't change. Hell he even picks on Otto when he feels like it, but in a more 'Subaru' way.
"Mhm!" Emilia replied, smugly. She would be coming along as she needed to look over her knight while he was being healed. Besides, she doesn't want another incident where Subaru's current predicament gets a lot worse.
In response to this, Subaru's face lit up with a bright smile. "Yeah!" He joyfully said fist bumping the air.
Emilia giggles at Subaru's antics. At least he was still Subaru in personality. But she still wanted the Subaru who still has his memories intact. But alas, this is the result of her actions from before. Her only hope of saving Subaru would be to find a way to restore his memories.
Subaru stops fist bumping the air, and looks at the giggling Emilia. His face turned red as she noticed that he was looking at her in awe.
"Gah!" he said as he turned away, covering his face. "Emilia-chan is such an angel!" He commented.
"Don't be silly, Subaru." She said as he still covered his face.
"But it's true! You're such an angel Emilia-chan!" Subaru defended his stand. In his eyes, she was truly a magnificent angel.
But sadly, that is not what Emilia sees herself. She sees herself as a monster who degraded the person that loves her to this. He doesn't know himself, and he forgot everyone else. On the outside she was happy, but on the inside, she was crying. Crying that she contributed to Subaru's demise. The old was dead, and outcomes the new. The new Subaru who is all by intents and purposes, a husk of his former self.
'I really am a monster.' She thought as she gave a smile to him.
'Don't worry Subaru, I'll save you this time… I promise.' She added.
She knows how important promises are. She already had Guese and Fortuna taken away from her but Subaru, he is still here. She still hopes that she could heal him from his predicament. She hopes that she could restore his memories. She was clinging to all hope there is to save Subaru. The wonderful boy who had entered their lives and had changed their lives. She hopes and she is determined to save him this time.
"Huh?" Uttered Subaru as he looked at Emilia.
"Why are you crying Emilia-chan?" Subaru asks, as he saw the tears that were drying on her face.
As soon as she heard that, she stood straight up and began wiping her face.
"I-It's nothing." She said, "It's nothing."
Subaru looks puzzled for a bit by Emilia's response. She surely has been like this for sometime now, and he is growing more worried for her. He couldn't ask her why she was sad again but it might give her more pain if he asks, so he doesn't tend to ask her what her problem might be.
"A-Anyways Subaru, want to go out for a stroll to the nearby village and the nearby flower field?" She asks him, diverting to a new topic as she wants to distract herself from this pain she was feeling.
"Sure!" Subaru energetically responded, to which gave way a bright smile to form on Emilia's face again. He took notice of this, and he commended himself.
'If I could make her smile like this, it would be so worth it!' He thought as he too smiled back at her.
"If you would, would you please let Betty be with her contractor I suppose?" Beatrice butts in, breaking Emilia's and Subaru's flirting session.
"B-Beatrice!" Emilia called out.
"What I suppose? Betty has every right to be with her contractor whenever she wants in fact." Beatrice said with all of her pride as she huffed her chest.
"I want to spend time with Subaru too!" Emilia argued in a child-like way, pouting.
"Hmph!" The spirit just huffed her cheeks in response.
"E-Emilia-san, Subaru-san…" Omega utters out, making her presence known as she was blatantly ignored in the background as Beatrice and Emilia had their little argument.
"O-Omega-san! What brings you here?" Emilia asked, she was flustered that their new member of the Margrave's residence was with them.
"I-I wanted to see what you and Subaru-san were up to…" Omega replied, shyly.
"I see, well, we were just about to go to the nearby Village." Emilia said as she stood up from the grass which she sat upon.
"M-May I come?" Omega asks, to which no one bothered to check the loli spirit who was huffing her cheeks in jealousy in the background.
"Sure!" Emilia replied.
'You're just as oblivious as I remember.' Echidna thought.
'You're so harsh towards her, Dona.' Typhon commented.
'What did she do to you, Chid-Chid?' Daphne asks.
"Can you please, leave me alone for a bit?" Echidna whispers to herself.
"Huh? What was that Omega-san?" Subaru asks.
"Uh, nothing." Omega quickly responded, to which Subaru shrugged it off. It was probably just his imagination.
Internally, Echidna sighed in relief, if she was alone right now, she would have berated them.
"Are you coming, or not I wonder?" Beatrice said as she pointed at the black-haired boy, and half-elf who were now walking out of the front yard and onto the road.
"R-Right!" Omega said as she began to sprint towards the two "Love-Birds".
"Hold on, I suppose!" Beatrice yelled as Omega ran by her, to which Beatrice responded to running, which she quickly exhausted. Beatrice was not that physically fit.
In the middle of the road, surrounded by the trees of the forest, there walked the group of four people, two lolis, one a spirit, the other a pink-haired elf, and the pair of "Love-Birds". They walked their way to the small town of Arlam.
While they walked on, Echidna's patience was being tested as all of the other witches are getting noisier in her mind, thanks to the crystal that she's carrying with her. Only if she could leave that crystal back in the Sanctuary, but she still needs the other witches in her journey.
Thanks to her revival, the other witches too can see the world thanks to Echidna. And now they will witness up-close a somewhat date of Subaru and Emilia.
A certain Jealous Witch day dreamed that she was in Emilia's place, such an event she wanted to experience with the one who she oh so loved so dearly. She should be there, not her look-alike.
On the other side of things, Echidna was just enduring the witches' small chatter in her head. If it were somebody else to experience this, they would have looked like a rambling mad man on the loose.
But Echidna persevered, still putting on her act, while the loli next to her was also putting on an act, an act that makes her seem like she doesn't know anything at all. But in reality, she is now on guard duty, and what she was guarding was her contractor.
All the while this was happening, a blue-haired maid was following them from behind, not letting anyone know her presence, as if she was a ninja.
"Well, looks like we're here now." Emilia said, breaking their small chatter with Subaru as they are now entering the village.
"S-So this is the village huh?" Omega utters out as she takes a look and inspected the place. It was filled with people, well not filled like the bustling markets of the Capital, but for a small town, it is somewhat filled.
"Oh, what brings you here, Emilia-sama?" Muraosa greeted the groups as they arrived. Ever since that day when they were freed from the Sanctuary, the villager's respect towards Emilia had been existent, unlike before they treated her as if she was the reincarnation of the Jealous Witch.
"Oh, we're just strolling by…" Emilia replied.
"I see, keep safe while in your little adventure." Muraosa said.
"Thank you." She replied, and the group went on their way.
"Woah, I've never seen this place before." Subaru commented as he was amazed by the small settlement, as if he was a little boy, wandering to a glamorous street in the city,
Emilia frowns once more at the thought of Subaru's memories being lost, thanks to her incompetence and her slothfulness. The little spirit took notice of this.
"Psst." Emilia heard someone calling out to her, to which it was the spirit. "Let's talk I suppose." Beatrice said.
"Mh." Emilia nodded, and went with Beatrice.
"Omega-san, can you look after Subaru for me?" Emilia asks the pink-haired elf.
Echidna couldn't believe how easy that was. How easy it is to have the boy alone, only for her to tell the darkest of truths to him.
"Of course, Emilia-san." Omega replied.
'Well that was easy.' Echidna thought.
Minerva just sighs on Emilia's obliviousness.
And so, the spirit began consoling the half-elf candidate, again for like the 5th time since these past few days. All the while they are consulting one another, Omega begins strolling Subaru off into the nearby forest, where no one would intervene.
Meanwhile…
"Don't be sad I suppose, you've been like this for days." Beatrice said. "If one day he gets his memories back, he'll be sad to see you blame yourself in fact." She added.
This was a frustrating thing for Beatrice to do, but this was also a way for her to atone her sins against her contractor, in her mind at least. But she still has to console her nonetheless, as her fool of a contractor would try and comfort the sobbing half-elf all the time, even going through lengths of trying to chase her back to her room.
He was willingly comforting her, even if he would stumble down the stairs. Knowing the increased dangers this might bring to her contractor, she would provide comfort to the silver-haired half-elf.
But now is not a perfect time to give her comfort. As they now endangered Subaru to the person they least suspected to be a danger, and a person Beatrice forgot to keep an eye on.
"I know, it's just.. It's just-" Emilia gets cut off as the spirit talks.
"Enough of that, in fact." She said, "You've been saying that over and over again, I suppose. When will you stop with that nonsense?" She asks.
"I know, but-!" She once again gets cut off by the spirit again.
"No buts in fact! Just smile for him I suppose, it would greatly do good for him in fact." Beatrice said.
Emilia still can't accept that. She can't accept that after what she's done to him. How could she smile at him after everything that had happened? In the end, the little spirit prevailed.
"Fine.." Emilia responded in a lowly voice, "I'll try my best…" She replied.
The spirit crossed her arms, and gave a smug smile.
"Hmph! It's for Betty's contractor after all." Said the spirit, with all of her pride.
"Yeah, yeah." Emilia replied, she then took a good look around the place.
She noticed something. Something was missing. SOMEONE was missing.
"Beatrice..?" Emilia utters out.
"Hm?"
"Where's Subaru?" She asks the spirit.
The spirit took a moment for the information to sink in until…
"-Ghk!" The spirit was now in a panic, she forgot to keep an eye on Omega.
"We have to find him quickly, I suppose!" Beatrice shouted as she now ran off to the direction where her contractor might be.
"Wait, Beatrice!" Emilia said as she now runs after the spirit.
"It's just me and you, Natsuki Subaru." Echidna said as she strolls him off deeper into the forest.
"Sadly, I had to knock you out." She added, as the boy was unconscious in his wheelchair, not knowing what's happening.
"Soon, everything will be revealed." She utters once more.
But before she could proceed any further, she sensed something approaching them. She swiftly shifts to the right, along with Subaru. A morning star hits his wheelchair, luckily Subaru was now being carried by Omega.
She turns around to see who the attacker was. She sees a girl in a maid outfit with blue hair.
"Oh, so it's you?" Echidna said as sees the maid, approaching them closer and closer. The sound of chains could be heard.
Once again a battle was about to occur. Rem, against their new guest.
