A day passed and Appendos asked Kombu where the magic passage was before it was destroyed. There, Kombu took him to a well on top of mountain that was once a container for sacred golden elixir, now nothing more but black, useless sludge.
"Appendos, what are we doing here? Isn't the magic dead?"
"Why yes it is, however, with death comes fermentation and with fermentation new life is born. Now with our first lesson, 'dip down' your hands in the pool of sludge and focus on the intention of reviving the magik".
Kombu did what he said and focused hard and long. "Appendos it's not working, what am I doing wrong?"
"Give it time, it will happen eventually".
Becoming impatient and irritated after trying even harder, Kombu decided give up, "I'm sorry, but it's working for me".
"Oh really? Then what's that in your hand?" said Appendos as he point a finger.
Kombu looked and it was a wand with black and yellow stripes on the handle. A thorn at the bottom, transparent wings on the sides, and a red X on the hexagon-shaped bell.
"Oh wow, I can't believe I did it!" said Kombu as he opened the bell of the wand which has only shiny red, liquid drop floating in the center.
"And would you look at that, you even revived a little bit of the magik".
"Really, this is only a single drop"
"Don't worry Kombu. With a drop, there's a puddle, with a puddle- a lake, and finally an entire ocean".
...Part 2...
A week passed as Kombu continued to train with the wand. So far, he only learned two and a half tricks. The first was a spell that helped him understand nearly every language in the entire multiverse; the second was to tranform any inanimate object into a better version of itself, such as a butterknife into a four-headed sword. The "last one" was a teleportation spell that he was trying to master. However, this spell was very unstable and teleported Kombu and Appendos in the most randomest of places.
The latest of these situations was in the recently fused dimension of Earth and Mewni, or Earthni (Mewn-Earth?). Well anyway, they both ended up inside of a landfill with mountains of garbage and where unwanted items resided. They began searching around for any "treasures", until they stumbled across a notebook covered in dirt and mold. The notebook was purple and had stickers of lightning bolts, hearts, several animals, and a big star that had the blurred out title which can only be made out as: "S—r's n—ebo-k of sp—ls".
Kombu opened up the notebook, only seeing a small fraction of pages used for doodles, while a few were scribbled out, and the rest the pages were either just blank or ripped out entirely. But he did see a goofy spell involving narwhals and a real handy spying spell.
"What a waste," said Kombu as he pointed his wand at the scummy notebook "oh well, I guess this could be of good use for me". He then casted his second learned spell, in which the journal transform into a large, fancy leatherbound book with at least a thousand pages in it and it had a red X on the front cover.
As Kombu picked up his new book, Appendos asked,"What are you going to use it for?"
"I'm not sure, maybe for like a grimoire or a personal diary".
"Mind if I rest in there?"
"Excuse me?", Kombu looked confused.
"I said mind if I take a nap in there?", Appendos pointed at the book.
"Sure, why not".
"Thank you", said Appendos as he opened to near the end of the book and began rolling over the pages like a blanket and shutting it completely.
With Kombu thinking that was weird, he just ignored it and decided to explore the new dimension before he went back to his own. He traveled up a few blocks to go into a park, where humans, mewmans, and monsters were playing ball. As Kombu sat on a bench, he seen a blonde teen girl in a dress and worn devil horns. Enjoying herself coupled with a teen boy in a red jacket with black hair and a mole on his right cheek. They were going to an ice cream truck as Kombu had a flashback of himself and Scobia. The most pleant times he once had, now all gone due to a sickness that could've been prevented. As he continued glancing at the young couple, Kombu began tearing up and opened up to the first page of the book.
He pulled out a pen, which he keeps in his pocket occasionally and started to write a title: "Kombu the Determined".
...Part 3...
When Kombu went back to his home dimension, he began training with a new spell, Resurrection. It took him nearly a whole month, where he practiced it on small insects. With much time spent and concentrated, he finally did it. He now has the power to bring back the dead, or most of it at least; however, there was a rule to it: you must use it within five days of the organic being's death. He went to tell Appendos of his achievements and with that, Appendos explained what to do next. He needed Kombu to activate the teleportation spell, even though it was still volatile, he was able to go to one place to another to a degree by using intention.
Appendos told what to keep in mind and they both teleported into a rainy place, with the place being mostly mud and having several trees and many bushes around.
"Appendos, what are we doing here?", said Kombu as he rested his hand on one of the trees.
"If I remember correctly," said Appendos as he buried his own hands in the mud, "that there's some secret spot somewhere around. I just seem to can't remember where".
Around five minutes of Appendos searching, Kombu tapped his fingers on the tree in impatience. Then suddenly, something large erupted out of the mud. It was a big steel box (bigger than a refridgerator) that has a sign on top of it with lighted capital letters, with several of them being burnt out. It read ,"The Tavern at the End of the Multiverse". Not to mention a small set of stairs that had on a velvet carpet, which led to a steel door with a mesh window that was the entrance.
"Ah, there it is. Come on Kombu, let's get inside" said Appendos, as he opened the door, letting him enter.
Inside the tavern, which looked and was completely abandoned. Most of the chandliers were dark, while others flickered; a bar loungue that looked like it hasn't been used in a while; almost a dozen tables, chairs, and couches; a pool table with a damaged table right next to it; and finally black pitch wall that took up a fraction of the tavern. Kombu tried to touch the dark wall, but Appendos advised otherwise.
"Now Kombu, we're looking for something that has the remains of the 'former magic', so keep your eyes peeled".
"But how do we know that if it's from former magic or not?"
"Just look for something that isn't of it's environment, okay." Said Appendos as they both looked nearly through the entire tavern.
As Kombu looked in the bathrooms he saw something in the female's. It was a poofy yellow at top and orange at bottom dress, which resembled that of a flame. Then right next to it there was a pair of scissors, a black pointy tiara, and a lit candle that has the same color and texture as the dress. Kombu picked up the candle and tried to blow it out. But no matter how hard he blew, the small flame was still burning.
This made Kombu surprised in astonishment, "Hey Appendos! I found something".
"You did, did you?" Shouted Appendos as he as he stopped looking behind the bar loungue and rushed in the bathroom to see what he found. Appendos was amazed. "Excellent work Kombu! Now for next part" he said while ripping off his horn and using it as a chalk stick on the bathroom floor, forming a circle around the foreign objects.
"Now Kombu, did you ever try using two spells at once on one object?"
"No I didn't", said Kombu.
"Alright then. You perform the ressurrection spell, while I use the transformation spell. Got it?"
"Okay, but wait isn't the resurrection spell only work on the living. How is this going to work on these objects?"
"You'll see Kombu, you'll see".
Kombu shrugged it off and did as told. After mentally preparing and channeling the magikal energy into the wand, while Appendos took deep breaths and rubbed his hands together. They both shot their blasts into the circle and concentrated. Several minutes of non-stop focusing, they achieved a "small", but peculiar result, the orange flame turned blue and large. Including increasing the temperature of the room equivalent to the inside of a furnace. The wax of the candle began to melt and to expand inside the circle without escaping it. The dress, scissors, and tiara starting to sink in the now boiling candle wax with the flame at the center of the circle.
"Alright, that's enough Kombu", Appendos said as they both stopped blasting.
"Now what Appendos?", said Kombu.
"Now we wait".
Half an hour passed and the boiling candle wax slowly stopped bubbling. In a matter of seconds, like a Phoenix from the ashes, rose a female figure. She had on the dress which was now purple at top and black at bottom; her hair was black, straight and long enough to reach the back of her knees. Along with bangs that almost reached her eyebrows; the black tiara on her head; horns protruding from the sides of her head, resembling that of scissor blades; her skin was a cream color with a waxy texture; and had on indigo high heels. The blue flame that was at the circle's, now on top of the woman's head and all the candle wax was gone.
The room temperature almost went back to normal as the gothic-dressed woman floated up and back down, then opened her eyes to reveal the light-violet scleras; bright-blue irises; and red pupils. She was staring at both Appendos and Kombu like a newborn, and approached Appendos first. Then gave a smile.
"Greetings and at your service, All-Father", she said as she grabbed the sides of her dress and bowed to one knee, making a curtsy gesture.
"Ooh! All-Father, I like that", said Appendos. Giving a grin of gratitude and bow in response.
The blue-flamed woman stood back up and approached Kombu, with yet another smile and curtsy, "Greetings and at your service, Big Brother".
Kombu felt very uncomfortable and cringed from the inside when she referred to him like that, "Um... Greetings to you too. And just call me Kombu". He said he also gave a bow
"Alright then."
"Appendos," Kombu turned his head at him, "what do we do now?"
"Why simple Kombu, we must-"
"Hold on a moment", said the lady in black.
"What is it?", said Appendos.
"Question. What is my name?"
"Well... uh your name... is...", Appendos was thinking on a good title that wasn't the same as her original. "Kombu, think of a good name"
Kombu looked back at her, staring. "Let's see... What can you do?"
"This." She said as she snapped her fingers and out of nowhere appeared over twenty identical clones.
Kombu thought for another moment, "I got it, your name..."
"Yes?!", she and her clones said.
"Is..."
"Just say it already", said Appendos
Kombu, at last, finally replied with the name: "Parallela"
