A/N: A bit of a short chapter today, but the I'm working on the next one already. I hope to get it out in a day or two so please bear with me.

I was also just in a car accident recently so it's been hard trying to remembering things or focus. I struggle with typing because my body and hand aches or just hurts so I can't write as fast.

Chapter 6

Lily Evans Potter was not happy. After the situation with Harry, the household hasn't really been the same. She wished it had turned out differently, but sadly, it didn't.

The early afternoon found Lily sitting on her living room sofa, wine glass in hand to drink away her problems, while flipping through an old photo book.

The images showed pictures of 2 young girls in their early teenage years playing in a park, smiling back at the camera. One of the girls had fiery red hair, who was Lily herself. The other girl had silver blonde hair with an almost otherworldly face. Many could see that she would grow up to be a beautiful woman.

Lily let out a sigh, reminiscing of her early years. A small smile crept up to her lips when she turned the page.

It was a picture of her holding Harry while James stood to the side holding Jamie at St. Mungo's. It was when she first gave birth to her twin boys. The people in the images were smiling and laughing, turning to wave back at Lily.

A tear fell from her eye as Lily remembered what had happened with Harry.

"AHHHHHHHHHH" Lily screamed, throwing her wine glass at the wall.

'SMASH'

The glass broke when coming into contact with the wall, shards flying everywhere. Wine spilled all over the living room carpet. Lily was breathing heavily right now, all of her anger that was pent up, flew right with the wine glass.

'DING'

The sound of the doorbell could be heard followed up by a knock. Lily let out a sigh, and forced a smile on her face. With a wave of her wand, the wine and glass shards were immediately cleared up.

The family house elf, Tilly appeared, ready to answer the door. But Lily immediately dismissed her, telling the elf to return to the kitchens.

"I got it, Tilly. It's Dumbledore so I'll greet him instead. Go prepare drinks and snacks in case he wants any." Lily said.

She walked towards the front door and let out a sigh, before fixing her appearance and did her best to put on a smile, albeit a false one.

When Lily opened the door, it revealed an old Albus Dumbloredore with a twinkle in his eyes.

"Professor!" Lily exclaimed. "Welcome, come in! How long have you been standing there?"

"Oh not long, my dear." Dumbledore said. "Is Jamie prepared for today?"

"Yes, he's waiting for you out back. I'll take you to him right now."

Lily led Dumbledore along the halls towards their courtyard. As they walked, Dumbledore looked around as if he was searching for someone.

"Is James home?" Dumbledore suddenly asked

Lily tried not to grit her teeth and snarl. Doing her best to hold on to her wavering smile, she replied, "N-no, professor. He's…preoccupied…at the moment."

'Preoccupied with another woman,' Lily thought.

The two of them walked in silence until they reached a double glass door that opened into the Potter family's courtyard. Jamie was out back, wand in hand and practicing simple motions with it.

"Jamie my dear boy!" Dumbledore called out. "Are you ready for your lessons?"

The boy lowered his wand and turned around with a huge grin of excitement on his face.

"Professor Dumbledore! I've been waiting for you! What are we going to be doing today? More charms? Hexes? Will you finally teach me how to cast a patronus?" Jamie asked with enthusiasm.

Dumbledore chucked at the young boy's antics. "No, Jamie. The patronus will not be for a few more years. Today I want to work with you on a few stunners and shields. Now, raise your wand and let us start!"

Lily sat on a bench on the porch and watched as the two of them got to work. Dumbledore sent out a couple of stunners and had Jamie practice shielding himself.

An hour later, the two of them were both breathing heavily. Dumbledore had decided that the practical was over and started to lecture Jamie.

The two of them sat criss crossed on the grass, facing each other. Jamie had a look of amazement on his face as he hung onto every word of Dumbledore's.

"-the dark arts must never be delved into, Jamie." Dumbledore was saying. "Now, we move onto the next thing we need to talk about - The Greater Good."

Lily snorted when she heard him saying that. The almighty Dumbledore was always preaching about his Greater Good. It infuriated her, the man can be so one sided at times and only saw what he wanted to see.

She already knew very well of the old man's philosophy, and zoned out throughout his lecture. Her attention was caught again when she heard her son speak up.

"-WOW! So professor, does that mean that to be a hero, sometimes we have to sacrifice ourselves and maybe others to save the many?" Jamie asked with curiosity.

Dumbledore smiled at him, seeing Jamie reach the understanding so quickly. "Yes Jamie. At times, one must sacrifice - all for the greater good. Dark wizards will never understand this. This separates us from them. Those who delve into the dark arts are selfish and care only about power, which is why we must never follow that path."

Lily almost jumped out of her seat to go punch the old man in the face. She was visibly snarling right now, angry that the oh so great Dumbledore was teaching her son to give up his life.

But she couldn't do anything. Her husband James wholeheartedly followed Dumbledore, all the way to his philosophy and thinking. They had argued multiple times over it, but all James cared about was that Jamie would be the one to vanquish the next dark lord, prophecy and all.

After the lesson was finished, she gave Dumbledore a false smile and bid him a good night. Once she made sure he left, she had Tilly get Jamie into bed for the night.

Lily sat in the dining room, swirling another glass of wine. Her mind was contemplating what to do with the situation of Dumbledore, when she heard a noise.

The sound of the front door could be heard opening. Giggling voices could be heard from the direction, the voice of a man and a woman.

"Seriously?" Lily thought. "He brings a woman home? In the house I live in? THIS IS ENOUGH!"

Lily stormed towards their living room to find James red faced, clearly intoxicated, wrapping his arms around a dark haired woman wearing a black fur jacket and red dress underneath while giving her pecks on her pouty red lips.

"JAMES POTTER!" Lilly screamed. "IN THE HOUSE? I'VE TOLERATED THIS…THIS…ALL OF THIS! AS LONG AS YOU KEEP THEM OUTSIDE - AWAY FROM JAMIE!"

James only waved his hand dismissively at her and led the woman up the stairs towards the bedroom. "Don't you have *hic* anything better to do, Lily? It's bad enough that *hic* you give me a worthless son who turns into a dark wizard*hic* - but now…you won't let me enjoy the pleasures of life?" James said, while hiccuping and completely out of it.

Seeing how he was acting, Lily growled and pointed a finger out the front door.

"GET OUT!" Lily shouted, directing the woman to leave.

James' face scrunched up to show a scowl. "Lindsay, stay right there!" He then angrily turned towards his wife and slapped her across the face.

'SMACK'

"You forget your place, woman!" James growled. "This is Potter Manor, not Lily manor. How dare you go against your head of house's commands?"

Lily looked back at him with defiant eyes, staying silent and just glared back at him. James only saw this and scoffed, then slapping Lindsay, the woman on his arm, in the rear and pulling her away upstairs towards the marital bedroom.

Tears were flowing freely from Lily's eyes at this point, her back towards James and the woman that was replacing her in their bed. The only thoughts in her mind was how things got this bad. She tried remembering back to their Hogwarts days, where James was head over heels in love with her. He treated her like a princess, doing anything to win over her hearts.

When they got married and soon after found out she was with child, he danced around shouting towards the world that he would become a father - that his wife was the most amazing woman in the entire world.

But after the attack from the dark lord, James started changing. He started following Dumbledore more than ever. He took a harder stance on anything related to the dark arts, and constantly made sure their families didn't have anything related to it. At times, he was overly paranoid and their marriage paid the price for it. It wasn't good when your own husband suspects you of being a dark wizard.

When the twins started to grow up, Lily hoped that they would change their father. It couldn't get any worse than it had already gotten.

How wrong she was.

Harry always struggled with everything while Jamie excelled. It led to James showing favoritism towards the latter. When she had confronted him about this years ago, the worst and darkest thoughts of his came to surface.

"James, why are you acting this way towards your own son? Towards Harry?" she had asked, tearfully.

"That's not my son!" he had spat. "My son would never be useless like that! My only son is Jamie! Who's Harry from, Lily? Is it polyjuice? Or was it someone who was a metamorphmagus? THE IMPOSTER IS WEARING JAMIE'S FACE, LILY!"

"WHAT ARE YOU SAYING, JAMES? How could you think that, I have only ever cared for you! You were there when I gave birth to them!" Lily was in shock when she heard the accusations. She couldn't understandhow her own husband could even think of that.

When she had brought up that point, she remembered vividly how James was on the verge of letting go of the conspiracy theories. But then, his brows suddenly started to furl and his eyes lit up. She knew at that point, the man she loved was gone.

"Memory charms!" he had exclaimed. "That's the only way! The death eaters must've snuck in a boy they've been training to watch over us! You don't have to care about him anymore, Lily! He's not your son! Don't worry, I'll go handle him right now!"

"What do you mean 'handle' him right now?" Lily asked, fearfully.

It was the blink. It was how calm his eyes looked and how he nonchalantly said the next sentence that sent chills through her spine.

"Why, to kill him of course."

"NO! James! You can't do that!

"AH HA! So, you were in on it then! You are his mother! Tell me, did you offer yourself up to the dark lord? Is he the father instead? One of the powers he possesses must be as a metamorphmagus!"

During this time, it was clear to her how far he had fallen. But she couldn't protect Harry if James thought she was against him. He was the head of House Potter. He could do things and get away with it. So, she took a deep breath and decided that she would play the game. She would wear her mask and do anything that would keep Harry safe.

"No, love." She had said sweetly, with her changed tone. "I worry more about what the public will think. Our reputation will be tarnished, love. Why don't we keep him here? You can keep training him to see how much of the dark arts is in him. But we must do it in a way where he won't suspect we're on to him. This way, the public will think good about us and we can keep tabs on the enemy. And if one day he slips up, you can find a reason to transfer the heirship over towards Jamie and cast Harry aside!"

She played her part well. Lily knew it worked when James rubbed his chin and nodded - then giving her a passionate kiss on the lips.

For years she pretended. For years she acted indifferent towards Harry, always favoring Jamie more. She pretended to be the housewife who cared only about their fame. And for years, she watched from the side as Harry grew more lonely and sad, always away from everyone.

Her heart broke everyday. She loved Jamie, but with Harry, a special love was felt for him. It was almost like pity. Her own son was forced to watch as his own brother experienced what the word family meant, while he himself never even could have hoped to understand the word itself.

Lily kept reminding herself day by day, that what she was doing was the only thing keeping Harry alive.

But - was it even worth it? Was what he was going through even called living?

When Harry was kicked out of the house, a part of her was happy. She was happy that he was able to get away from James. It didn't even cross her mind that he was basically a child, alone in the world. She didn't even notice how skinny he was, how frail he seemed.

And deep down, she was happy that she wouldn't have to see him anymore. Because he reminded her of her guilt.

Her guilt that she was a failure as a mother.

It hit her. The realization that she pushed down to the deepest parts of her subconscious.

She played her part well. Too well. Because somewhere down the path, the lines blurred.

Lily blinked herself out of her thoughts as she found her shaking hand clutching the front door knob. She wanted to go find Harry. She wanted to get on her knees and apologize to him, begging him for forgiveness. He needed help right now, and this was her chance to be the mother she never was to him.

As the moans upstairs were getting louder, her anger started to rise once more and she knew that a decision had to be made at that moment. Now was no longer the time for indecisiveness.

All of a sudden, the moans upstairs stopped and James' voice called down to her.

"You're taking Jamie to platform 9 ¾ tomorrow! I'll be mhhhmmmm busy with something lovely for the next day."

Lily's hand fell limply from the door knob, as she stood frozen still there, facing the door.

Jamie.

She couldn't just leave him here with James. As much as he followed his father, without her here would devastate him. Lily couldn't fail another one of her sons.

With a heavy heart, tearful eyes, and a croaking voice, she replied.

"Yes, dear."

The next morning

Lily stood at platform 9 ¾ with Jamie next to her. She watched as he was trying to get his pet owl under control.

One of the birthday gifts that he received was a pet owl from Lily, after the situation with Harry. Although at the time she was still shaken up that James almost killed Harry, she still did her best to smile and presented Finn, the brown and yellow eyes owl to Jamie.

She started to notice in the distance a noticeable group of redheads walking towards their direction. It probably would be best if she handled it so she decided to send him off.

"Jamie hun," Lily started, watching him struggle. "Why don't you go ahead and talk with the Weasleys. They're heading this way. I'll take care of Finn."

"Okay! Thanks mum!" Jamie said, running off towards the Weasleys.

Lily turned towards Finn, who was thrashing around. She let out a sigh and slowly began caressing the owl's back. This caused Finn to calm down a bit but his eyes still showed a hint of fear.

She reached into her robes to procure a potion - a calming draught. Lily smoothly dipped the owl's head and had it drink the draught.

"You always were good at potions. I swear, Snivellus has got absolutely nothing on you, Lily flower."

Strong arms wrapped around her midsection. She could feel a warm breath on the back of her neck.

Lily turned her head around to reveal the handsome face of Sirius Black.

"Sirius!" she said in a hushed voice. "We can't! We're in public!"

Sirius smirked. "Notice-me-not charms. No one will see us. Now…"

He pulled her into a passionate kiss. Lily tried to push him away but started to feel light headed. Her arms got weaker until she wrapped them around his neck and kissed back.

Lily didn't know how long the kiss lasted but when she pulled away, she knew that she wanted more.

"Lily…"

"Sirius…"

He moved a hand to cup her left cheek, caressing it softly.

Lily flinched away at the action, unable to look him in the eyes.

Sirius frowned before he realized what had happened. His eyes flashed of anger and he pulled Lily closer towards him, wrapping himself around her.

"He hit you again, didn't he?" Sirius whispered in her ear.

Lily only nodded numbly and started to sob into his shoulder.

"We can't keep doing this, Sirius." Lily whispered tearfully.

"Why not, Lily flower? He's hurting you. He blatantly sleeps with other women while he already has the most amazing one in the world at his side."

Lily let out a humorless chuckle and wiped the tears on her eyes. "You think I'm amazing?" she asked hesitantly.

"Not just amazing. I think you're the most beautiful woman I've ever seen as well."

Sirius' comment was rewarded with another passionate kiss from Lily. When they pulled away from each other, Lily looked at him with worry in her eyes.

"He'll have you killed, Sirius," she said. "He thinks you're a dark wizard. He's been suspecting it for a while but after the party, he made up his mind that you were one. That's why he stopped talking to you."

Sirius snorted. "What's he going to do, Lily flower? I'm soon going to be the head of my own house. And if he tries anything against me, my grandfather will practically have us go to war."

"You don't understand, Sirius," Lily said, shaking her head. "He's been building connections on the light side. He even got Fudge with him. You're going to be next on his list, Sirius! You have to stay safe!"

"Stop worrying about me, Lily! I'll be fine! You're the one that's unsafe!" Sirius said. "He's been hurting you, Lily! I should already kill him for what he's done!"

"No! You can't Sirius!" Lily pleaded. "Jamie's too young right now and he idolizes his father. He can't lose him like that! You're still his godfather, Sirius."

"So what would you have me do?" Sirius asked, almost harshly.

"..."

"..."

"Nothing…"

Sirius moved away from her. "Nothing?" he asked incredulously. "He's hitting you, Lily! What do you mean nothing?"

"I DON'T KNOW!" Lily shouted. "I don't know what to do! James is still his father, Sirius! He's still my husband!"

"WHAT KIND OF HUSBAND HITS HIS WIFE?" Sirius shouted back. "What kind of husband sleeps around with other women?"

"I DON'T KNOW!"

Lily collapsed back into Sirius' arms, sobbing once more. He held her tightly once more and tried his best to comfortingly rub her back.

"I don-don't know what t-to do anymore." She said, almost hysterically. "What are we doing Sirius? What's going on between us?"

He didn't respond. Sirius just stayed silent, rubbing her back to comfort her. Both of them were lost deep in their thoughts, trying to find the answer to the question.

It wasn't until a minute later that Sirius spoke up again.

"It's something the both of us need."

It was a simple answer, but the words spoken suddenly made everything seem more real.

Lily just stood there, letting herself be held by the man that was her husband's best friend for so many years. She wanted to feel guilty, but deep down she couldn't. She knew that when James started sleeping around, she would never feel guilty about this ever.

All of a sudden, Lily dropped everything in her thoughts when she noticed something.

Or rather, someone.

"Harry?"

Down the station, she noticed the messy black hair. It was when he turned sideways that she found herself staring back into her own eyes.

Emerald green.

Lily broke from Sirius embrace and ran towards her son.

"HARRY!" She shouted. "HARRY! OVER HERE!"

Harry didn't even turn towards her. He just kept on walking. She could only see his lips moving, as if he was speaking to someone. She couldn't tell who it was with all the people walking around.

Then, she realized why he couldn't hear her.

"Sirius! Lower the charm!" Lily shouted.

Sirius was surprised but quickly fumbled to get his wand out and lower the charm.

"HARRY! I'M RIGHT HERE! IT'S M-"

Lily froze mid sentence when the person Harry was talking to showed.

Silver blonde hair.

Then, Lily saw the face.

It was the same face.

Gasp

"B-B-But how?" Lily stammered. "You're supposed to be dead…"

Her knees gave out, and she fell to the ground.

Lily just stared at the girl in front of her who was pulling Harry into the train.

"Diane…" she whispered.

A/N: I'm actually not very satisfied with the first chapter of this story but I think I've told you guys that. Everyone else seemed more like on dimensional characters or just a cheesy bond villain. I distinctively remember someone pointing out to me that if you slapped 200 pounds onto him, he'd basically be Vernon. Which I do agree lol.

So, I thought I would write this chapter. First I wanted to try practicing writing romance scenes (Sirius and Lily) and give some character into Lily. And since I'm also committed to the "Diane Greengrass Nee Evans" theory, this chapter was pretty needed. Now with this, I feel like this story will be open to a whole lot more different paths I can take it. I am really excited to see where we can go from here!

Special thanks to AgentRip-Off, for being one of my first reviewers and staying this long! I absolutely love reading your reviews and you provide some very good ideas! Thank you!

Next chapter will probably be the full 5,000+ words.
