Chapter 15 Wizengamot Meeting
It will be the first Wizengamot meeting of October, and he was going announce himself as Lord Peverell-Gryffindor-Emrys-Hogwarts. Make his dad proxy for the seats, and today Sirius was going to press for annulment of the marriage of Narcissa Malfoy and Bellatrix Lestrange. He had found the same contracts in this world with the same compulsions and loyalty. Usually, it would not be done in the meeting, but everyone knew that Lucius would contest the annulment. Then they were going to head home as it was Sunday, and he was allowed because be a member of the meeting. To take the floo, he arrived in the office of Professor McGonagall and knocked on the door. After some time, the door opened, and Harry went inside as it was already decided he would take the floo from her office.
"Are you ready, Harry, to take the position of Lord in the Wizengamot?" Minevra asked, adjusting his robes.
"Yes, Grandma Minnie," Harry replied.
"Then let's go together. I want to be there to see my grandson take the seats for the first time."
"Grandma Minnie, are you really coming," Harry asked excitedly. Like a kid, the first time since the time he came in the dimension. Harry knew from memories of this dimension of Harry. His relationship with Professor in this world and his good relations with Professor in his world. So, it was not hard for him to show his emotions, understand the pain Professor would have gone after losing him, and see a chance to have the same relationship with him. It was elementary to show his emotions, as he knew he could trust her.
Seeing Harry actually being excited to have her with him, she knew there might be possible for becoming a grandma again, and this time it may last till her last breath. So, she nodded and asked, "Will you be escort till the Wizengamot Chamber, Lord Peverell-Gryffindor-Emrys-Hogwarts?"
"It will be an honor to escort to the meeting, my Lady." and offered his arm to Professor. After some laughing, they both made their way to the chamber. As Harry entered the room, he took the seat in the public gallery waiting for the announcement for any candidates to take new Lordships.
After a few minutes, Dumbledore appeared at the Podium next to Fudge and banged a gavel to get everyone's attention, "Let this, the fifteenth meeting of the Wizengamot for the year 1991 begin. Now before we begin as is tradition, we must ask if there is anyone today who wishes to attempt to claim a seat on this council."
Taking that as his cue, he stood up. He said, "I, Harry James Potter-Peverell-Gryffindor-Emrys-Hogwarts, of the Houses of Peverell, Gryffindor, and Emrys wish to claim the seats for the Peverell, Gryffindor, and Emry's families."
Those in attendance immediately started protesting at these words until Dumbledore called for silence with several explosions from his wand. Turning towards him, he asked, "On what ground do you claim these houses?".
"By blood, I claim Houses Peverell and Gryffindor. By right of magic, I claim House Emrys," he said, and the audience fell silent.
"Then please stand beside the chairs and if they accept you. You would become Lord, and if they don't accept, then you have to forfeit all the Lordships." Harry using his Gryffindor courage, moved towards the Lord seat and placed his hand over the seats, and after a few minutes, chairs glowed and accepted him as his Lord-Peverell-Gryffindor-Emrys
"Now, as the new Lord has been accepted. It is time to start the meeting. Now, is there someone to start a new motion?" Dumbledore said.
At this, Sirius stood up, and Dumbledore told him to continue, and he said, "Lords and ladies, normally I would not have brought family matters, but I knew that it would have landed in the meeting. I want to annul the marriage contract of the Malfoy and Lestrange family with the Black family for not fulfilling the clauses of the contract. The contracts also signed with loyalty charms in Malfoy contract and slave bonds in Lestrange contract attached to her husband and Lord Voldemort. So, I would like to annulment of marriage and release of cousin Bella from Azkaban."
"My wife doesn't want her to break the contract, don't you, my wife." Lord Malfoy spoke.
Everyone turned to Lady Malfoy while sitting in the gallery watching events unfold. They notice that she only nods her head after a bit of hesitation, but everyone can see a ray of hope in her eyes.
At, this Sirius again said, "We can't be sure that Cissy is telling the truth as she is already under the loyalty compulsions, besides contract says they should have at least 2 children in 6 years, it was a clause added by the previous Lord Black, Arcturus Black III and it has not been fulfilled, if it is fulfilled then who is another child as we already know of Draco Malfoy, heir of Malfoy Family."
"How about we wait some time for this annulment and continue on the topic that is more urgent, as the contract of Bellatrix Lestrange is about slave bond and that is not acceptable and who much of the past is true and false and possibly talk about justice." Everyone agrees.
"Now, Lord Black, could you explain more about the contract between Lestrange-Black." Lord Greengrass continues. "I would like to annul the marriage, destroy the contract, and would like to take my cousin home under my responsibility, but before that, I had contacted goblins regarding the contract, its side-effects as she had slave bond with two people and she is in Azkaban for 11 years. So, before I continue, I would ask Master Grimlaw to please reveal the conditions."
"Thank you, Lord Black." With that, he had taunted all other Lords and Ladies who didn't respect them and whom they didn't respect and then continued. "Now, the contract had her bonded to both, due to 16 years of the bond, it made her completely destroy the Occlumency shields, and if we break the contract, Madam Lestrange's brain would completely be destroyed, and she would become completely insane, so to avoid it, she should form another bond with someone good in Occlumency and let her start to slowly recover with her own beliefs with a family member. I would advise Lord Black to decide how she should be bonded. Then have a trial in which provide her Veritaserum and ask some questions."
Everyone kept silent for a few minutes, and some talked. Malfoy and Fudge were talking among each other, and Fudge said, "I would like to Lord Black to make Lord Malfoy as her new master until recovery of Occlumency shields as Lady Malfoy and current Lady Lestrange are sisters."
Everyone in the hall looked at him as if he was an idiot. Sirius was trying to break the marriage contract with Malfoy, and he was saying Lord Malfoy to be her new master, but everyone kept quiet and turned towards Lord Black.
Sirius was fuming from inside at Minister's statement but kept his cool and didn't want to make a scene and replied, "If the contract of Lord Malfoy and my cousin is not annulled, then I would consider Lord Malfoy. Now, I have considered Lord Peverell, as he is master in Occlumency and also my godson. I would like to ask him formally as he returns with Lord Malfoy's daughter. He also has a private suite in Hogwarts, so there will not be an issue with living arrangements as it contains an extra room, or we could take her home and allow Lord Peverell to meet her according to recovery. It would depend on Headmaster and Lord Peverell. So, I advise everyone to wait until they discuss the situation and decide the best course forward." with this, he concludes his opinion and takes his seat.
Everyone looks towards Harry and Headmaster as they make their way in the corner to discuss the issue.
"Chief Warlock, so what do would you recommend is best. I take Miss Black with me to Hogwarts or let her stay at home while I visit her every day in the night. I think you would never allow a child to go home every day. In return, I will promise Miss Black will stay with me in my suite and wouldn't roam around in the school. You, as well as I, know that Miss Black can be a precious asset in the future when she is in good health. I, for once, don't want her in the control of Malfoy. So, I am willing to work this with you in return to let you keep all three positions, but you will have to answer the second question. So, are you ready to negotiate?"
Headmaster Dumbledore was shocked at the suggestion.
"You knew this all along this didn't you to extend the date of deadline till first Wizengamot meeting and then the case of Miss Black, so you would get the upper hand over me, and then I will agree to your offer. I am impressed you were able to manipulate me; you should have been in Salazar Slytherin's house, but I can't understand how were you able to pull off this at the age of 11." Dumbledore said.
"No, Headmaster, I didn't know about the case until a few hours before Miss Granger challenged me for the swords. Though it was an excellent move to make me look like an idiot in front of Hogwarts and question my authority over the claim. Though, it gave a chance to extend the deadline. For that, I have to thank you. For the answer to the second part, when you're near a blink away from death, you start doing things that you shouldn't be able to do. So, what is your final decision?" Harry asks.
"Well, I agree with your point, and I currently don't have any other option than accept the deal. So, I can keep all the positions." Dumbledore replied, and they made their way together towards the meeting.
While Harry and Dumbledore were discussing, everyone in the meeting watched two of them talk, and various expressions went through their faces.
After they returned, Harry started the conversation, "It has been decided that I should take Miss Black with me to Hogwarts, and in return, I will make sure that she doesn't leave the room. I will be responsible for anything that would happen during her recovery. Now we have one more matter to discuss before ending the meeting. the contract of Lord and Lady Malfoy."
So it had been decided, and due to this Bellatrix Lestrange was brought in the Wizengamot, and the first thing that was done was the transfer of bond from Rodolphus Lestrange to Harry Potter, and then everyone saw the pain she went through the bond transfer. While everyone was busy, no one noticed that the pain was because Harry removed the mark on her arm. After the bond transfer was complete, Bella collapsed due to exhaustion, and everyone waited for her to recover while they would discuss the matter of the second contract.
"Now, I would like to make sure my both cousins are free today. So, I will ask Lord Malfoy regarding the again clause in the contract." At this, everyone in the Wizengamot turned towards Lord Malfoy, waiting for his response. Lucius had no answer and knew that he didn't fulfill his side of the contract and could not prevent the annulment of the marriage. He was cursing Narcissa and Arcturus black for not informing him of this. He had read the agreement 3 times to find anything to save his marriage, but he couldn't, and he knew he had to agree as Sirius is current Lord Black. The only way to prevent this from happening was by allowing his wife to answer the questions in truth serum, and he would go to hell before allowing it to happen. So, he defeatedly nodded but not before giving Sirius and his wife a glare that promised vengeance and pain.
As soon as Lucius nodded, Sirius asked Master Grimlaw to bring the contract, so they could sign it agree to the annulment, and Narcissa could be free from Lucius. During the signing of the agreement, the healer in the care of Bellatrix arrived in the Wizengamot and said, "Miss Black is awake and is demanding to meet her master." then she turned towards Harry and said, "Lord Peverell, please follow us so when she sees you we can calm her a bit provide further treatment, so she is fit for questioning under serum and then you can help her in recovery." As she completed the statement, Harry stood up and followed the healer to the medical wing in the Wizengamot; as they reached there, Bella had already seen his arrival and was kneeling in front of him, "My Lord, thank you for gracing me your presence. Please tell me what should I do for you." Everyone saw her acting like a proper slave would perform in front of her master. Everyone was disgusted with the use of such a bond on women. Harry immediately took control of the situation and said, "Bella, stand up, and from now on, you will never call me anything other than Harry." Bellatrix was shocked and replied, "I can't think of even calling you by your name, my lord."
"Bella, it is my order," Harry said. "Yes, Harry."
"Good. Now how much do you remember your life until now."
At this, Bellatrix replied, "Harry, I can remember everything, but I can't observe it because it is under your control on what I see and what I can't see." At this, even Harry was shocked at the amount of control Voldemort had on her. "Bella, I want you to take a seat and then see your complete life and tell me what do you think honestly." At Bella closed her eyes and saw her complete life play by, from her time with sisters and cousins, growing up in Slytherin House, marriage contract with Rodolphus Lestrange, then master-slave bond with Voldemort, her killing muggles, attack on Potters, her ending up in Azkaban, transferring of bond from Voldemort to Harry, him removing the dark mark and then finally meeting her new master. As she opened her eyes, everyone could see her tears from the corner of her eyes and a look of fear when meeting her eyes with Harry.
Harry observed this thought it would be best to start with the introduction, "Hello Bella, I am Harry James Potter-Peverell-Gryffindor-Emrys, son of James Potter and Lily Potter (née Evans). I have been chosen to be lead you through recovery as I am Master Occlumens and the godson of Sirius Black. I can see it in your eyes, you don't trust me, and truthfully, I wouldn't even trust anyone after what you had gone through, but I promise you to take good care of and break the bond next moment you're recovered and deemed fit by healers and Goblins. This I say, and this I vow. So mote it." Everyone around him was shocked at the vow, and Bella couldn't control herself anymore and moved towards him and hugged him too strong and started to cry and lost control of overall emotions. Harry just let her cry and soothed her. After some time, she calmed down said, "What is the next thing I have to do, Harry?"
"After this, we're going to Wizengamot, and there you will be questioned with truth serum, and afterward we will go first home and then to Hogwarts in my suite," Harry replied. Bella nodded and asked for his permission to go to the loo. Harry said, you don't have to ask me everything you know about Bella, but Bella just shrugged her shoulders and went to the bathroom to clean herself. After 20 minutes, she returned, and together, they went to the Wizengamot. When they entered, everyone turned towards them and made their way towards Amelia Bones. Afterward, they handcuffed Bella, and in front of everyone, they questioned her with truth serum and received the same reply. Then Chief Warlock declared Bellatrix innocent and announced she would be in the care of Lord Peverell-Gryffindor-Emrys until she was deemed fit and healthy by healers and Goblins. Then he called for everyone's attention, "Is there any matter's to be discussed further at this the meeting went on for 2 hours between debating about funds and future of Wizarding England with no conclusive decision. Then Dumbledore said, I know all of have you been informed about my replies to Lord Peverell's questions. At this, Harry Potter raised his hand, and Dumbledore said, "Is there something you want to say, Lord Peverell?"
"After seeing today's meeting handled by the Headmaster, I have decided that Headmaster can keep all three positions; he just has to either accept my challenge for a duel or decline it."
At this, everyone turned towards Headmaster and waited for his reply, "I accept the challenge for a duel, but there will not be any forfeits but just my reputation on the line, because if I win, you will have to forfeit Lord Emrys, which I cannot accept as it against my values." At this, Harry replied, "I accept." At this, everyone except Potter and the Black family thought Harry had grown a second head to challenging the most powerful wizard for a duel and accepting it. It was decided that duel would be conducted on the Hogwarts ground in the afternoon and would be available for everyone to watch, and with this, Dumbledore said, "At this moment I conclude the fifteenth meeting of the Wizengamot for the year 1991."
With this, everyone exited the chamber and met in the atrium. Harry went towards his family with Professor McGonagall and Bellatrix. James was first to speak, "Harry, Bellatrix, come on, let's go home. Minnie, would you like to come with us home." "Thanks for the offer, James, but I would return to Hogwarts, as I have already spent a lot of time away; we will meet afterward." They parted ways; James, Sirius, Narcissa, Bellatrix, and Harry went to Potter Manor.
The next day Sirius and Narcissa returned to Black Manor while Harry and Bellatrix returned to Hogwarts for Harry's classes.
