It was the middle of the night when Mika got the call from Ray telling her what happened with Bose. Bose had begged him not to tell Mika because he really didn't want to listen to her scold him. But Ray, as always, was more concerned about his own well-being. Mika may have been small but so far nothing was scarier than when she got worked up over her team, especially Bose.
Bose was at the man's nest late at night hanging out with Ray and right when he was about to leave the emergency alarm went off. The Jandy Bridge had snapped a few cables, luckily not its major ones, nothing anything Captain man couldn't handle on his own. Danger Force wasn't allowed to fight crime or help the city with non-life-threatening emergencies past 10 a.m due to minor work laws that the state and SL implemented. Bose had been the first to turn 18, since last week that was, so the law didn't apply to him anymore but Mika was still against it.
So imagine her fear when Ray told her that a loose cable had hit Brainstorm right in the chest. Ray insisted it wasn't as bad as it sounded but she was already on her way.
Bose laid on the comfortable navy blue couch in his recovery room staring at his Brainstorm logo, trying to wipe away some dry blood and dirt from his scratches with a wet towel. Also thinking of a way out of this before Mika got here.
Bose moved his hair out of his face when suddenly he heard the door to his room slam open. He closed his eyes and winced at how loudly it hit the wall. He opened his eyes to see Mika standing by the door with it now shut, arms crossed, head shaking and murderous eyes with a hint of worry. Yep, that's my Mika alright, he thought. "Hello-," he was about to greet her but she didn't give him the chance. "Bose O'brien are you insane?!" Mika yelled, pulling her hair, and stomping over to the couch. Well, last week i wanted to see if light bluds tasted differently when they were active or not. Every time he opened his mouth to speak Mika would talk over him telling him that he should have gone home and he had no business to be suited up at 1 in the morning tying jumper cables or whatever.
"Do you know how worried i was-"
"Hey, can you yell at me later when my body isn't currently burning me with every touch i give it?" Bose pouted. She stopped her rampage to get a good look at him to see gashes and marks that covered him along with a deep scruff that started from his nape to the middle of his bare chest. She was relieved that there wasn't really much blood but then she started freaking out that he may have been internally bleeding.
She groaned frustrated and sat on the middle edge of the couch taking the towel from the table next to them. "If you don't want to hear what i have to say, you can feel free to get up and walk away," She sassed and Bose smirked before laying flat on his back letting Mika take care of him.
"I'm gonna kill Ray," Mika spat and Bose chuckled. She dipped the towel in the hot water bowl and squeezed it out into a different bowl before gently applying it to Bose's bruises. He flinched slightly and Mika pressed it into a gash on one of his abs. "How does that feel?" She asked sweetly removing the towel and dipping it in the water again, going back to cleaning the wounds. "Great! can't you tell from how hard I'm grabbing onto your sweater," He remarked and Mika playfully rolled her eyes, she didn't even notice him holding onto her sleeve.
Due to the little space she was sitting on, she found herself slipping off the couch. Bose noticed and sat up to give her a little more room. Mika flashed him a quick smile before focusing on putting a band-aid on his right pec. But she still didn't look comfortable. "Screw it," Bose murmured under his breath and she was gonna ask what was wrong until Bose took a hold of her waist and guide her on top of him to get a better angle for putting the band-aids.
Mika's breathe go caught in her throat before she cleared it and put her head down to give another scratch her attention, applying pressure, and pretending she didn't notice the sudden change. "I'm still mad at you," she went on, hoping the hair covering her face was enough to hide her blush. "Are you sure?" he brought his hands up to push her hair behind her ear and kept it there. "Yes," Mika looked up to see Bose immensely eyeballing her.
It was still for a moment. Neither spoke, as usual. Just waiting for the other to make move, as usual. Bose leaned in, as usual. Their lips were inches apart brushing against each other. Mika wasn't so sure they should...again. So Bose waited a little longer, in a way asking if it was okay to kiss her. She moved just a tab bit further and he took it as okay. The kiss was soft and lasted a few seconds before he pulled away, "Che ne dici di adesso?" (How about now?) he questioned, his lips lightly brushing against hers again. Mika sighed softly. Italian, he knew she wouldn't be able to resist him now.
When she didn't answer and only tilted her head trying to contain a smile, he faintly chuckled and placed another gentle kiss on her lips, and another, and another and another...
Okay, so Mika and Bose weren't exactly dating. But they also weren't not dating...
They were just friends, Mika told herself, Friends who kissed, held hands, went to dinners, and occasionally left love bites on each other...
Bose winced again when Mika unexpectedly ripped a band-aid off of him. She wasn't going to let him flirt his way out of this. She laughed watching him try to rub the sting away. "Doing that, won't help you feel better," She mocked putting the towel on the table. "No, but doing you might," Bose joked. Mika immediately ripped another band-aid off of him. "I was joking," he hissed watching Mika's joyful expression. Well, part of it was a joke.
Just then Ray opened the door with cup carriers, "Who wants hot chocolate! oh-" he paused, eyeing the couple who turned to look at him. "I'm I interrupting something?..." Ray trailed off teasingly.
"Yes," Bose responded.
"No," Mika voiced removing herself from on top of him.
She made her way to Ray and took 2 hot chocolates, one for her and one to bring back to Bose. This was gonna be a long night.
