Arc 1 Chapter 1: Recovery
Izuku and Toshinori were lying in the hospital, deep in a coma, the origins of which were unknown to the doctors examining the pair. They were placed in the same room at the request of (more like demand) Nezu and Recovery Girl.
In the room alongside them were their close friends and family, including Kurumi and Maruki, Winry and Richard, Kirishima, Mina, Tsu, Iida, and the rest of Class 1-A. They were all completely concerned about their friend/class rep. Inko lay on the white sofa situated across the beds, asleep after three sleepless nights, of which she spent praying for her husband and son to wake up. Ochako sat on a metal stool with a cast on her right arm, resting her head on the edge of Izuku's bed, holding the boy's arm lightly with her left hand. Katsuki and Kenshi were sitting outside the room on the cheap, metal chairs provided, waiting for the two to wake up, alongside Kurumi, Maruki, and Eri.
Kenshi had a cast on his right hand hand and bandages that ran horizontally across his chest and a jagged scar on his waist where Monoma had ripped him in half. Katsuki had a cast on his left hand and multiple bandages covering his face, chest, and right arm.
The rest of the students involved in the Kamino Incident were sent home, Kenshi and Katsuki refused to leave, even when threatened with expulsion. Momo, Todoroki, Kirishima, and Camie were in Momo's room, sitting in absolute silence, positioned in a circle around their phones waiting for some sort of information from either Katsuki or Kenshi regarding Izuku and All Might.
You might be wondering how we got here, right?
After their punches hit, All Might, Izuku, Ochako, and Katsuki stood in the same spot as the two simultaneous blows released a massive tornado that destabilized the news helicopters hovering above, and destroyed the debris from the sheer power.
When the whirlwind settled and the dust came to a rest, the four could be seen standing, bodies trembling with their fists raised in a similar fashion, indicating their victory. As the crowd cheered the victory of their number one hero, the rest of the heroes and backup teams finally arrived to help them to the medics. An enraged Monoma stands behind the scenes, face contorted into a scowl with tears streaming down his cheeks.
"You…. you.. You killed him!" He shouted as tears fell from his face. He tore his eyes away from the crowd, back to the body of All For One. "you murdered him." he chuckled a bit, much to the shock of everyone on the battlefield. He cackles, screaming a final declaration, "You will pay for this, All Might!"
The boy rushed at the weakened pro, both his hands bulging with the power All For One used in the fight previous. He was running, aiming to squash a defenseless All Might when his hands suddenly reversed back to normal, he was met with a kick to the chest, and a few explosions courtesy of Izuku, Gran Torino, and Katsuki who stood, circling to defend their Idol/student even though they were pretty roughed up themselves. (Gran Torino was fighting off the hordes of Nomu that were around the city, protecting the civilians and reducing the overall damage done to the city.) Monoma came to the realization he had lost this round.
"You might have won this fight, Heroes!" Monoma growled as a dark, swirling portal opened behind him. "But the war...the war is far from over. Very far! And if you think you can get away by killing father, just remember that the Bill Comes Due! " He tells them before leaping through the portal to an unknown location.
With Monoma leaving the battlefield, and the rest of the heroes arriving on the scene, Ochako and Katsuki's knees buckles in, trembling in pain and the assurance they had won. While All Might and Izuku fainted from their various injuries, losing consciousness.
They were sent to the closest Hospital for immediate treatment. All Might needed surgery to fix his broken ribs and his hands from the fight, while Izuku needed surgery for his arms (for the second time this week) and treatment for his smaller injuries, as well as a gash he got while deuling the Nomu.
That brings us to now, three days after the battle of Kamino.
The press was anxiously waiting for any statement they could get out of the hero regarding the identity of the villain and his relation to the kids that helped him.
A certain conspiracy spread about All Might having a secret love child that no one knew about save for a select few that never came forward. However, they didn't have any confirmation as any person connected to All Might, namely the pros that taught at UA, his close friends and even recovery girl lied through their teeth. They always said that they had no clue about any such thing, either from the hero themselves or other sources.
The press went as far as to get an interview from a long-forgotten ally of All Might only to get the same answer from him as well.
Izuku's P.O.V
I opened my eyes and found myself in some kind of neon green landscape. I then saw that Dad was by my side, his figure highlighted in a bright yellow. Either this was a dream or one strange coma. Seven others were around us, and one of them looked right at me. It turned to Nana Shimura, my grandmother.
"Grandma?" I asked.
She approached me and slowly wrapped her arms around me. "You've gotten so strong… I could never ask for a greater grandson," she grinned "You and your father managed to defeat the evil that is All For One."
I looked down, suddenly finding the ground beneath my shoes quite interesting. The tall ravenette noticed something was wrong with me.
"What's wrong?" she asked.
"It just felt like a lot to me," I confessed, "One of my own classmates working for the league, being related to Shigaraki, all of it…. And I still can't use One For All at full power and..." I trailed off.
Grandma gently put her hand on my shoulder.
"Izuku, there's still a lot for you to learn with One For All, more quirks to unlock and a lot more that even we don't know about yet," she spoke to me, but it all seemed fuzzy "Previous users spent a lifetime mastering their quirks before receiving One For All. You can't expect yourself to learn them all in one year."
She then turned to Dad.
"As for you Toshinori, I don't think you have any idea what good things are coming your way," she cheered.
Dad tilted his head, confused.
"What do you mean?" he asked, "Aren't I quirkless now?"
"Not exactly," Nana said, "By letting Eri heal your wound, you were rewound to a time where you still had One For All."
Dad and I shared perplexed looks with one another.
"The both of you have One For All now," she confirmed with us, "But there is a difference, as Izuku's version is stronger due to the stockpile. Toshinori, you just have the enhanced natural abilities and a longer time limit for that muscle form of yours. Also, there's the.…..." She trails off.
"I think I get it." dad answers.
I was amazed by this. Although Dad's version of OFA was weaker than mine, he could still do hero work! The world still had its symbol. And I still had One For All. The taller woman approached me and the blonde, hugging us both.
"But before you two leave, I believe there is someone who wants to talk to you." She tells as her figure disappears in a cloud of mist. The silhouette of the first user of One for All appeared in her place.
"Hello, Eight and Ninth." They greet the 2. "You can call me, First, for simplicity's sake. I must commend you on your victory over All For One, my brother. But the fight has not ended yet, All For One—the quirk—still has to be defeated. It currently resides within my nephew. You are far from mastering One for All, young one. But you don't need to fret about it, becausing starting now, you will be learning with your predecessors whenever possible. You will get to see their memories and see how to use and master their quirks without having to worry about them overwhelming your body. Right now, our priority should be resting your body and handling the panic that is inevitable with your society. But I believe that your allies would have thought of some scheme, trust them." the first then fades away as Nana reappears once again.
"I'm so proud of the both of you," she sighs contentedly, "Izuku, you will make a great hero in the future. But I think it is high time for you both to wake up. Your friends are awaiting you."
She showed us a vision of our loved ones watching over us. Ochako's been by my side ever since we checked into the hospital. Even Kaachan was there. Mom was by Dad's side smiling. I suddenly had a thought in my head.
"Grandma," I told her, "Could you grant your grandson and son-in-law a heartfelt request?"
Grandma Nana already knew what I was going to ask.
"It has been a minute since I've last said hello to my daughter," she said smiling.
Normal P.O.V
Izuku's eyes started to open. He found himself in the hospital room, with Ochako sleeping by his side. He was about to wake her up when…
"DADDY!" Eri shouted.
She ran up to Izuku and with her little legs, she jumped into his arms. She then wrapped her arms around her green-haired hero, hugging him tightly. Izuku hugged her back. Eri was overjoyed that her surrogate father had woken up after a ferocious battle, as she smiled knowing he was wide and awake…. Sort of. Tears fell from her eyes as she hugged Izuku.
"Daddy…" she cried between sobs, "Daddy!"
Alarmed with the noise, Ochako shot up. She witnessed Izuku embracing the snow haired child. Tears began to gather in her eyes. She gripped onto Izuku tighter. Toshi chuckled lightly. Inko saw that Toshi had woken up, she gave a cry of joy before quickly holding him tightly. Although she didn't have super strength, she could pull off one hell of a bear hug.
"You nearly gave me a heart attack out there!" she chided, before sighing "But, I know it was what you had to do."
"Sorry for the trouble, Inko, but we won the battle without any major loss." Toshi bashfully grins.
"What do you mean, no major losses, your weak form was made public, and….." Inko starts before she's cut off by Toshi.
"Who said my weak form was publicized. Plus I… we have a surprise for you." Toshi says as a light emerged in the room. From that light, someone stepped out. When Inko saw who it was, she couldn't believe her eyes.
"Mom?" she asked, astonished.
"Nope!" the voice says. "I'm Batman!" The ravenette winks.
The room erupts into a laugh. "Nice to see you, too Inko." the apparition of Nana Shimura said as she hugs her daughter.
Inko hugged Nana back and tears began to fall from her eyes. She was happy to see her mother after so many years.
"You did an amazing job raising such an incredible son," Nana pridefully praised her, "I've never been more proud to call you my daughter."
"It's been so long," she said, "Without you around Dad…. and Hikari they…."
Nana shushed her. "I know sweetheart, I know," she said, "Some things just happen and there's nothing we can do. All that matters is right here, right now."
She looked to Ochako and smiled.
"And you must be Ochako," Nana said, "Thank you for always being by my grandson's side."
Ochako gave her a sheepish grin.
"You raised such an incredible son," Nana Shimura said, turning back to Inko, "Even when he couldn't use his quirk yet, he still held on to that smile and to the hope that he would make an amazing hero. I'm so proud of the woman you've become."
"I'm the woman you raised me to be," Inko told her, "You kept me going even when times were tough."
"You're not the only ones who are proud," Maruki said, approaching Ochako, "You did so great helping Izuku out there honey, although you got hurt."
Ochako chuckled. "It's part of the job as pro heroes, but once we get our license, we'll be able to help out for real." Ochako passionately grinned.
"Well until then, try not to get ahead of yourself," Kurumi said, "You still need to let your arm heal. But you did a great job helping your boyfriend."
Nana then noticed Eri hiding behind Ochako's leg.
"Eri it's ok," Izuku reassured her, softly placing a hand on her shoulder.
Nana approached her gently and kneeled down so she wouldn't scare Eri.
"You must be the little girl who healed my successor's wound," Nana said gently, "You have a very powerful quirk."
"I-I'm Eri," she murmured.
Nana smiled. "And I'm Nana," she told her, "I'm your grandmother's mother."
"Does…. Does this mean you're my great-grandma?" she asked.
Nana chuckled at the little girl's question. "Yes, yes I am," she said.
Eri cheered before jumping into her arms and hugging her. "She's a cute one, Izuku," Nana said smiling.
"What can you do Nana the great?" Eri asked.
Inko chuckled at that nickname.
"My quirk allows me to fly," Nana told her as she demonstrated her quirk, Float. She was a few feet from the air. Eri's eyes glistened in awe at the sight.
"I wanna fly too! Nana the great," Eri grinned.
Nana picked her up, taking her up in the air with her. Eri giggled as she was held in Nana's arms. She started to float with Eri in her arms and Eri was in amazement.
Izuku couldn't help but softly grin down at Eri. She was starting to have a happier childhood with him as her guardian.
After a few minutes, Nana started to glow.
"I think its time for me to go back to the above," she said.
Inko hugged Nana one last time.
"I can't thank you enough for this," she said smiling, "Seeing you again. You don't know how much this means to me."
Eri waved goodbye and smiled. Izuku and Toshi waved with her.
"Until we meet again Toshinori," Nana said as she started to disappear.
Izuku was thinking about something.
"What's on your mind, son?" Toshi asked him.
"I think its time," Izuku told him, "It's time the world knew."
A few days later, there was a conference with dozens of people around. Izuku and All Might were the once who were answering questions while the chief of police had stated a new law. Certain restrictions on specific quirks have been lifted for entertainment purposes, but some still need a license before being allowed to use them.
Toshi then gave a speech stating that even though he will be retiring from full-time herowork but will still occasionally take up his job as a hero without payment, he wants to focus on training the next generation of heroes and that would be his priority. He also told them that though he would not be the symbol of peace anymore someone else will take his place. People were relieved that All Might was still alive despite what just happened. After a bit, Nezu stepped forward.
"So this whole week there have been a lot of interesting rumors about All Might," Nezu began, "About him dying, or having a secret love child and all that jazz. Some people even said that this child even went to U.A or some other amazing hero school, and also some rumors that some of the staff have even met the son or someone who was friends with the son."
People were listening to the UA principal speak.
"This is why we wanted you all to meet Izuku Midoriya, a UA student, among the top of his class and one of the most promising students we have seen." Nezu says as he gets off the podium paving way for Izuku.
"Ever since my last year of Middle School, All Might has been a part of my life, helping me train my quirk and making me into the man I am today," Izuku said, "If it weren't for him, I probably wouldn't be going to U.A right now."
All Might gave him a thumbs up. Izuku kept going on mumbling about what a great inspiration All Might has been, telling him he was a good hero, giving him advice on his quirk. Gran Torino got bored and decided to approach him. He thwacks the boy on his head causing some of the crowd to laugh while others flinched.
"Sonny, I think it's time you got to the point," he said, "You're a muttering mess."
Izuku realized he was right.
"Ok, I think it's time I just put these rumors to rest and reveal the truth," Izuku said, pulling out a card. He looks at the cards, confused what to say, before looking at the camera in front of him, "The truth is….."
"I am the Son of All Might."
The minute those words left his mouth, he found himself being surrounded by news reporters, and other people. They started swarming him and asking questions overlapping each other. Izuku just looked at them all and smiled.
