Arc 1 Chapter 4: Eye for An Eye

Izuku and Ochako had decided to spend the weekend with their daughter, to make up for the time they had lost due to the training camp, Kamino Raid and Izuku's recovery from the fight against the Omega Nomu and All For One.

Inko gave Izuku an idea. She told them they should take the little girl to a very popular picnic spot. It was Paragon Hills, an area named after Izuku's grandmother, Nana Shimura's hero name as a way to thank her for her acts as a hero.

"Toshi and I actually helped out this park together in honor of mom," Inko told the two of them, "Little Eri will have such a blast there."

"Yeah," Izuku said.

"Who knows?" Inko asked, "Maybe during the next big battle you might unlock her quirk and fly. You'd be Superman," she joked.

The 2 young adults had packed a small lunch of vegetable and chicken sandwiches along with sliced apple and candied apple for dessert.

Eri didn't know that they were going for a picnic as her parents told her to wear something warm and comfortable. She wore a long skirt with floral patterns on it and a hairband with a flower on one side. Her hair was done into a single ponytail courtesy of her auntie Momo.

Izuku was wearing a green striped shirt with blue jeans. Ochako was wearing a pink blouse tucked into a pair of blue jeans and leggings. The pink blouse was actually a present for her from Izuku since the old one was ruined during the training camp raid.

"Izuku you really didn't have to do this," Ochako said, "it's just a shirt."

"But it's one of your favorites," Izuku said, "Besides it's the least I can do after you helped me out against Hayate."

He kissed her cheek making her blush and smile.

Izuku and Ochako had just finished packing for the trip when eric came down and the scene that followed was worth watching twice.

"Ladies and gentlemen," Mina said, "Class 1-A proudly presents... Eri!"

Eri started walking downstairs to her surrogate parents. The 2 young parents were gushing over how good the little girl looked.

Eri twirled around in her clothes. Ochako ran the extra mile towards Eri and picked her up. She then smothered her with kisses and cooing at how adorable she looked.

"My little girl is so precious!" She said.

Eri giggled at this affection. "Thank you Mommy!" She said.

They left soon after, and took a train to Paragon Hills.

Before they reached, they put a blindfold on Eri to add a small element of surprise. Izuku then picked her up in his arms, carrying her the rest of the way to the hills.

"Daddy where are we going?" Eri asked.

"It's a surprise little snowflake," Izuku told her as he smiled, "But I promise you'll love it."

"Yay" Eri said.

The green haired future hero couldn't help but chuckle at Izuku's adorable ness. Ochako followed suit walking right by her side. After a few minutes, the trio were close to their destination. Izuku took the blindfold off of Eri. When she saw where they were, she reacted with awe. There was also a big statue of Nana Shimura.

"This is Paragon Hills," Izuku said, "It was named after my grandmother/your great grandmother, Nana Shimura, after all her deeds as one of the best pro heroes."

"They should make a statue of you Daddy," Eri said, "You saved the world!"

"Well, maybe someday," Izuku said, "But that won't happen yet cause I still have a lot of training to do."

Ochako giggled and told him, "That's what you said when you tried awakening your quirk and using it efficiently."

Hearing this made Eri curious. She turned to Ochako.

"Mommy, what were you and Daddy like as kids?" she asked.

Izuku bent down to Eri's level and smiled.

"Well, I was a bit rambunctious when I was a kid," he answered the snow haired girl, "When I was diagnosed with my quirk, I actually couldn't use it yet. But that didn't stop me from working hard in order to manifest it."

Flashback

A 7 year old Izuku saw his mother struggling with a few boxes. He saw this as an opportunity to start training his quirk. He rushed over to his mother wanting to help.

"Mommy, Mommy let me help with that!" he said smiling.

"Are you sure sweetie?" Inko asked.

"Positive," he said, "If I want my body to be use to my quirk, I gotta train it."

He helped his mother move a few boxes into another room. It was a bit easy for him since he could channel energy into his arms to make them stronger. He decided to go for a heavier box, because he assumed, the heavier, the stronger he'll get. He had a bit of trouble trying to lift it up. Suddenly it was floating, and Izuku was floating with it.

"Ahhh!" Izuku screamed, "Ochako get me down!"

"Oops..." Ochako said.

Inko couldn't help but laugh at this. Izuku falls on his but holding the box, "OWWWWWW!" he exclaimed.

"Sorry about that." Ochako said giggling as she took the box from Izuku and made it float to help Inko.

"You really need to stop pushing yourself this much Izuku, even All Might has other heroes to help him." Inko tells him.

"I just wanted to help you Mommy." Izuku says looking down to his feet. "I feel bad seeing you doing all the work around here."

"Well, once you get use to your quirk, you can do all the work for me and Ochako, alright?" Inko tells the boy, immediately cheering him up.

"Are we really going to do that?" Ochako whispers to Inko.

"Yup." Inko tells the girl.

Eri giggled at Izuku's mishap.

"You tried to lift heavy boxes even though you just got your quirk?" she asked.

"Well, I felt like I needed to get my body ready for the quirk," Izuku said, "I wanted to be as super strong as my dad was."

"Well at least I was there to help," Ochako said smiling, "I couldn't do much for the other thing though."

"Other thing?" Eri asked.

Flashback 2

Izuku was side by side with Katsuski. The two of them were planning to have a race around the entire neighborhood. This was so Izuku could work on the speed part of his quirk.

"Alright you two, this race is focussed on your speed, and now your combat," Ochako said, "Give it to your best potential."

Izuku and Katsuki got into a starting pose.

"Ready... Set... go!"

Izuku and Katsuki both dashed forward. Katsuki was using his quirk to make himself go faster while catching up to his rival. Izuku was running to the best of his ability. He started to stack more energy into his legs to attain more speed.

He was determined to work his quirk to the best of his ability. Soon he was further ahead than Katsuki was. However he was starting to stack a bit too much energy and going too fast. He didn't notice it until it was too late. He hit a tree, head on.

Flashback Over

"In order to get the speed part of his body ready, Izuku did something pretty insane," Ochako told Eri, "He ran a big lap around the neighborhood. You can imagine how tired he was when he got back."

Ochako laughed to herself.

Izuku scratched his back. "Yea I was pretty determined back then," he told himself, "But that was just the tip of the iceberg. When I got my quirk, your mommy told me I would benefit in a way to cloak the quirk around my entire body.

Flashback 3

"Sounds like you really might be overthinking," Ochako said, "Don't get me wrong, you take notes very well, and you study the situation in a good way. But sometimes, its best not to think, but rather to act. Camie was drilling me about using my quirk better as well, and she's actually helping me see the light."

"At least one of us is doing something right," Izuku said.

"I mean your quirk is pretty useful too, you just gotta stop overthinking the situation," Ochako explained, "I mean, it's not like you can find a way to cloak the quirk around your body to have both enhanced speed and strength." Izuku nodded.

"Well, i guess I should work on speed rather tha... Say that again?"

Ochako looked confused, "Which part?" she asked the boy.

"The last line, say that again this time a bit slower." he answered.

"I said, its not like you can cloak the quirk around you to get both strength and speed," Ochako repeated herself.

That gave Izuku an idea. "Excuse me, I gotta work on something," he said. He zoomed out of the room. He then came back quickly and approached Ochako. "Thank you," he said. He then quickly gave her a peck on the cheek and zoomed back out. Ochako paused for a moment and started to blush.

As Izuku spent the day training, he tried cowling the quirk around his entire body. The first few times he failed. He ended up jumping at the walls and giving himself major bumps. Every attempt he tried had him in bruises.

"The best part was probably after i left the house." Izuku says. "I was heading to the beach but i was lost in thought and sort of bumped into a light pole. But after that, I started working on"

"Oohhh, so that was what that bump it was." Ochako says laughing. "Well, after Daddy left I realized what he did and I started to get embarrassed and floated to the ceiling and I was there till Inko came home later."

Eri laughed at this. "Floaty Mommy!" she said smiling.

Ochako tapped Eri on the head and she was floating a bit. After they had their sandwiches, Izuku presented Eri with something special; A candied apple. She took a bite out of it and at an instant, she smiled widely.

"Its even sweeter," Eri said, "I love it Daddy."

Izuku smiled and picked her up, "Uncle Sato helped me out with making them," he said, "I'm glad you like it little snowflake. We should head home soon otherwise Grandma might call the police for a search party."

The trio were walking back home to Izuku's apartment. As they opened the door, Izuku saw his mother talking with a man with green hair, and a chess piece in his hand. From the looks of it, Inko seemed a bit concerned.

The man with green hair turned to face Izuku. For a split second, he felt tense as the man was walking closer.

"So you are the son of All Might," he said to Izuku, "Allow me to introduce myself. I am..."

Before he could finish, someone walked into the main room.

"What's all the ruckus," Toshi said walking in.

As soon as he saw the green haired man with glasses, he recognized him.

"It's been a while All Might," he said.

"It sure has, Nighteye."

The second he said the name, Izuku recognized him.

"You were All Might's sidekick back in the day!" Izuku said, "Your quirk allows you to tell the future."

"Well, it seems you know more about heroes than anticipated," Nighteye said, "But I am here to tell you that your days as All Might's successor are coming to an end."

These words shocked Izuku.

"What?" he asked.

"It is obvious that you cannot handle the power of One For All," Nighteye told the green haired hero, "So I ask that you relinquish the quirk and give it to my apprentice, Mirio Togata."

Everyone was shocked at this. Nighteye wanting Izuku to give up his power to his apprentice?!

"Just who are you to come in here and tell him that?!" Inko snapped, "My Izuku is a kind hearted hero who has helped pros on more than a few occasions!"

"Ms Midoriya, your son may wield this sacred power, however his skills have proven to be mediocre," Nighteye told Inko, "If he continues on this path, then his future will be bleak, and dark."

"W-what do you mean?" Inko asked.

"I sensed the future where Izuku continues to use One For All," Nighteye said, "He uses 100% of its power during a battle, without proper training, to fight against a villain. The power takes a toll on his body, and ends up being his undoing. But my apprentice has spent years training for this kind of moment. He must be the one to wield One For All, not him."

"Then train him to use it without using 100%, like All Might is doing right now," Inko argued.

"Even if I were to do that, the vision of the future would still be the same or even worse," Nighteye told her.

"You don't know that," Izuku said, "You may be able to tell the future but there's no way you can tell if I can handle the true power or not."

"But I do know that most times, you end up needing to be rescued whenever you try and help someone," Nighteye said, "Resolve and believing in yourself alone will not make you a hero, but you're too naive to know that."

"And you think this Togata person can be better than my son?" Inko asked, "Izuku has managed to use this quirk to the best of his abilities. Although I do worry about my baby boy when he comes home with injuries, it's only a sign that he's been training hard. I won't sit here and let you tell my son that he can't be All Might's successor."

"Well I don't want your son to die, nor All Might to lose his only child," Nighteye argued, "I'm certain that Mirio Togata can make sure of that, AND put One For All to good use. Besides, the most he's done is imitate you All Might. Have you thought about that?"

"Now now, be reasonable," Toshi said, "Sure it was a bit difficult for him to control the quirk at first, but he's gotten use to the power. He's even learned new ways to use it with his birth quirk."

"By sheer dumb luck," Nighteye told him, "Your son is not powerful enough to take your place. A true wielder of this quirk would not allow arrogance and emotions cloud his judgement."

"I would never allow emotions to cloud judgement!" Izuku said.

"What about the time where you nearly injured your arm during the entrance exams?" Nighteye asked, "You allowed your feelings for your girlfriend to get in your way, even though you didn't have One For All yet. Please, for your own safety Ms. Midoriya don't make this any harder for Izuku."

"Harder for Izuku?!" Inko shouted, "You just waltz in here ordering Izuku to give up his quirk, but we're the ones being hard on him?! You don't even know what he's been through!"

Eri walked up to the man, kicking him in the shins and looked up at him with an angry look on her face.

"Why can't you leave my Daddy alone!" Eri said, "He's proven himself to be a hero numerous times. He even punched that big robot in the face saving dozens of people!"

"Listen child," Nighteye said, "You cannot tell what the future lies ahead for your 'father' and I can. The only path set for him is a trail of destruction and chaos. Until he gives up his quirk, that future will never change!"

Toshi stepped forward. "I think its best for you to leave," he said, "You're starting to make a scene Nighteye."

Nighteye got up and walked away.

"Heed my warning boy," he said, "You will doom yourself if you continue to hold on to this power."

"Well I'll prove you wrong," Izuku stated, "Whatever comes my way I'll smash through it with my fists."

"Yes," Nighteye said, "And then you'll find out you just made the biggest mistake of your life."

As the door started to close, Eri flipped Nighteye the bird.

"As much as I appreciate it Eri, WHO TAUGHT YOU THAT?" Izuku asked his daughter.

"Uncle Kaachan." Eri mutters.

"Thats it, that blonde Pomeranian is getting a free one way trip to the stratosphere once we're back at the dorms!" Ochako shouts as she storms off to Izuku's room.

Izuku and Inko shrugged their shoulders.
