"Last night was fun. Don't worry - your secrets safe with me."
Peter's phone lit up suddenly. He picked it up - staring at the screen with wide eyes. He'd been very drunk the night before; barely remembering how they'd gotten home. Had he reviled himself to be Spider-Man to her? The way she looked in that dress - there wasn't much he wouldn't have done.
"What secret?" He text back quickly.
A moment later he got a response.
"That you're sexy as hell but a lightweight when it comes to tequila."
"Lightweight?! I had twice as much as you."
"That's just because you like kissing my neck so much."
A smile crept to Peter's mouth as he licked his bottom lip idly; still tasting the intoxicating mix of Gwen and lime as his heart began to race. He'd lost count of how many shots they'd done in the crisp night air - but eventually their innocent teasing with the lime and salt turned into something much more.
A groan left his throat as he clicked on an app on the screen quickly.
"Happy New Year, New York City. This is J. Jonah Jameson and today's topic of discussion is Spider-Man: Home for the Holidays? Our masked vigilante has been off the radar since before New Years. Does he think crime takes a vacation during the holidays? Over 200 reports of violence have been called in since his last sighting. Very irresponsible of the so called hero. Maybe he's finally taken my advice and left the crime fighting to the true hero's of this city - our men and woman in blue at the N.Y.P.D"
Peter groaned again; but differently this time as the podcast began playing through his earbuds. He was trying to distract himself so he wouldn't leap from the floor and go finish what he and Gwen had started last night. It was as if he could sense her sitting on the opposite wall thinking the same thing.
What was this girl doing to him? He hadn't been out as Spider-Man in two nights! For once Jameson was right — he was being irresponsible and the last thing May had said to him was with great power comes great responsibility - he couldn't let this city burn over a simple crush.
Peter buried his head in his hands - it felt like much more than that tho.
After a moment he lifted his head - feeling his spider sense vibrate in his stomach as someone knocked with a heavy fist on Gwen's apartment door. A deep voice boomed through the hallway as he stood and pulled his earbuds from his ears; listening carefully.
"Felicia told you to come here? Why?"
"To hang out or fool around. She said you were into me."
"Into you? Uh, sorry Harry but you're not really my type. I thought you were going out with Jennifer or.. Jaclyn? Damn there's to many J names in that house."
Peter stepped out of his apartment then; glaring at Harry who stood six inches taller than him and almost a foot broader. The brute didn't bother turning to their company - he only had eyes for Gwen.
"I'm sorry you came all the way out here but you should really go. I'm not interested." She assured Harry - trying to close the door in his face but he placed his foot over the frame - grinning wide. "Come on, Gwenny. I saw you eyeing me at the party last night." Harry assured; glancing over at Peter as he stepped up beside him.
"The lady asked you to leave." He muttered, narrowing his eyes as Harry did the same. "Who asked you short stack? Fuck off."
Gwen's eyes went wide as Peter stood his ground; telling Harry to leave again. She could only watch as Harry turned to Peter; towering over him and shoving him hard in the chest. To his and Gwen's surprise it was as if Harry had hit a brick wall.
Peter glared as Harry fumed; lunging for him again. In one quick movement Peter threw a punch - causing Harry to fly backwards and smack the opposite wall with a grunt.
"Holy shit, Peter." Gwen met Peter's pissed off expression with wide eyes. "That was hot…" she whispered as Harry scramble to his feet before storming off as quickly as he'd came - punching the wall at the stairwell before disappearing from view.
"We're you eyeballing him at the party last night?" Peter asked flatly - ignoring Gwen's shocked expression. "You're not serious, Peter. I was eyeing YOU the whole night. What the hell - you're the one I was with. I like you."
Peter kept his gaze fixated towards the stairwell; he couldn't be with MJ because of Spider-Man and he couldn't be Spider-Man because of Gwen. There would never be any balance in his life.
"You shouldn't." He finally muttered before disappearing the way Harry had left without another word. Gwen could only watch him go with pain in her eyes.
