Like all classic isekai stories the story starts right after the protagonist is hit by a truck and fucking dies. Then after an arbitrary process he is reincarnated or displaced into a random piece of fictional media he may or may not like.

However in my case it did not happen like that. Here I wasn't actually killed, only whisked away suddenly into a place resembling limbo, by an inexplicable being I did not understand. A mysterious being of possibly omnipotent power.

"Random Omnipotent Being is the term your people would use to describe me and other beings of similar nature. I'm surprised you're able to come to such a conclusion so quickly. A correct one at that. But maybe I shouldn't be so surprised, it was you I chose after all." A disembodied voice said.

"There are few other explanations for my consciousness and body being instantaneously displaced into a white void. Plus I was writing a self insert fanfiction only moments ago, so it was more of a lucky guess based on that if anything."

"True. Now that you know what I am, and what situation we are in. Care to take a guess what's going to happen next?" ROB asked.

"You're going to go through some arbitrary process where I am reincarnated into a random piece of fictional media I may or may not like?"

"That would be what most ROB's would do normally. However I am much more efficient then that. After quite a fair bit of experimentation on my end I've found granting the recipients desired starting powers and world often creates more entertaining scenarios for me to watch, as the displaced person is more enthusiastic about playing the part of displaced person for a ROB's entertainment. So what wishes shall I grant before I send thee to the next world?"

"Make me God." I said with no hesitation.

"Woah woah slow down there buddy. If I was just going to grant some random schmuck godhood I'd just go and watch my brethren dick around in the cosmos. Plus it's too risky for a mortal such as yourself to utilize right away. Too much omniscience makes you brain dead, too much omnipotence makes you bored as FUCK, and if you're omnipresent I might as well have fucking killed you and cremated your body before spreading it across the multiverse. The three O's aren't as cool as you'd think."

"Damn. So does that mean I can't be God?"

"Not quite. I'm not saying that Godlike abilities are out of the question at the start of your journey if you REALLY want then, but you're going to need something to limit yourself at the start. I'm here to be entertained you know, not watch a sandbox game. An entertaining scenario requires more finesse and some conflict to make it enjoyable to watch. I can certainly make you into a 'pseudo' godlike entity since it's obvious you don't want to be restricted to one little world and human lifetime, and that's perfectly fine. That means a longer series for me anyway. Sure you can ask to become a God and I can easily grant you aspects of being all powerful, but personally I recommend taking on a weakness so you don't get bored out of your mind. Like me for instance... "

"ROB continued. "One thing to note regardless of becoming a God or not, your body will actually need to be transformed into an existing fictional character, in order to be able to access other fictional worlds at all. To interact with other fictional characters your body must take on the form of one as well, it's through that where you gain your initial starting powers. Don't worry too much though, there's plenty powerful entities to choose from."

"I see. Can I give you a small explanation of the type of situation I want to be in. Then have you make a small list of characters for me to choose from?"

"Sure. I have all the time in the world. I am a benevolent and generous ROB after all, take all the time you need." He said kindly.

"..."

Some time passed. How much couldn't be said, the place in which the Random Omnipotent Being and human were in did not contain such things. It was a place that existed outside space and time itself.

Eventually after thinking it over the human spoke up once more.

"Ideally I want to be able to interact with as many fictional characters as possible. I don't technically want Godhood and to be all powerful so much as I want my own home dimension and the ability to control it as I wish. So that way I can make my own crossover city or world where countless fictional characters are able to live in and interact with each other. I don't want the world completely setup right away, I want to be able build it up from scratch. I also plan to eventually set the stage for a grand story, adventure, or other situation that spurs small and large scale interaction between characters and me."

"Hmmm." ROB paused for a minute. "Using your description the absolute best candidates of near but not quite godlike beings that have their own personal dimensions and can traverse to different worlds without being too overwhelming in their power in my personal opinion are the few final bosses from the Super Smash Bros series. Your choices from there are one of the two hands, Galeem, Dharkon, or Tabuu. Each choice has powers and restrictions based directly upon their games. After choosing one of them, their powers, physical forms, and weaknesses will not be able to be altered without cost. To keep things a little bit interesting. So make sure to choose carefully."

I took a moment to respond, thinking over my options. "I'll pick Tabuu, since his body is the most visually humanoid out of those available, while the others are almost completely inhuman. Looking like an eldritch demon or angel may be detrimental to me when I interact with characters, I'd also like to not look like a fucking hand please. I'm familiar with and like Tabuu so I have a general idea of his abilities, I also know he's also restricted somewhat in his overall power. If Brawls story mode happening at all is any indication he isn't perfect or all powerful, so working to expand my romain should stave off boredom and give me a few side tasks to work on. Am I allowed to request additional powers as well to ensure my new existence is the ideal setup?"

"Eh. Since you're requesting even more things on top of being turned into a nigh immortal interdimensional being there will be some minor restrictions on new stuff to even things out. You can ask for pretty much anything so long as it can sufficiently contribute to my entertainment, but you'll also need to come up with your own tradeoff in exchange for bonus powers. Give me a good enough drawback for additional abilities and it'll be granted. Bonus points if you come up with an interesting scenario to go with a power."

"Okay. I'd like the ability to bestow upon a character any conceivable superpower in existence, through the use of a CD, or disc shaped object that I can generate at will. It should be able to be absorbed either passively through the body or be eaten. With a texture and flavor I can alter and the ability for me to control how exactly it gets absorbed."

"A form of power bestowal. Sounds like if a character lacks something special you can spice them up real quick. Pretty cool in theory, what is the downside?"

"Once the disc is absorbed, the recipient should receive some kind of temporary condition: Pain, suffering, or another temporary ailment of some kind depending on how valuable or 'powerful' the ability is, or even positive effect, but at my discretion. Effects can include but are not limited to common symptoms of illnesses such as chills, fatigue, fever, hunger, cramps, sweating, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, blindness, hallucinations, seizures, random outbursts of their power, orgasms, lasting tastes of the disc, and so on. I should also he able to remove its negative effect entirely by sacrificing my ability to generate the same disc for a period of time equivalent to the power of the disc. If the character in question is smart enough to think to ask, the terms of the cost change and they can request that I induce a specific but still severe ailment or eliminate the cost entirely for a favor. A character should not be able to die from any illnesses they get from absorbing a power disc. The length of time the ailments last for is decided by me, and can be stopped at my whims. I should also be able to decide the severity if it's a low cost disc and increase it at my discretion."

"Holy shit I love it! Now that's a fucking great tradeoff! No gain without pain. And you get to inflict conditions on characters using the guise that you're giving them powers. Alright hit me with another request!"

"I am aware that Tabuu is trapped in and unable to leave the dimension of Subspace. Regarding how I'm able to interact with the outside world to bring characters in, it's not explained in media how Tabuu actually encountered Master Hand and used him to establish his army. If I don't request anything to do with interacting with places outside my dimension does that mean I'm rendered unable to interact with the outside world?"

"Depends, if you don't ask me to change anything then Master Hand might just show up in Subspace unexpectedly so you don't stay in isolation forever. You can define what your weakness is though in exchange for a better request. I'll tack on another thing for you to consider too, a vague existing weakness not explained by the game you can fully define to your detriment, and you can then use that weakness to make a good request to offset a negative attribute of yourself in turn."

"Alright, this next request will be a bit much so bear with me." I paused.

Then I began. "The ability to create mirrors and portals for myself to view any fictional world, and officially created alternate universes that have existed in the real world. I can generate a portal in any world to summon any character I wish and they will immediately appear before me. Some character if the prerequisites are correct that appear will have their worlds history altered so that any portals I make will be a part of their history and viewed as a specific dangerous type of wormhole phenomenon, and it will be known in their world by most knowledgeable residents that anything that enters wormholes of my specific variety is essentially gone forever and thrown in a place beyond space and time, most likely unable to be retrieved. Thus any character that lives in a society that educates them sufficiently will possess knowledge that they will not be able to go back home without strenuous effort, or the help of the embodiment of Subspace, that being me. The weakness here is that I obviously cannot leave Subspace myself and other characters can, and as an addon just so things don't get too complicated I cannot summon duplicates of any single character."

"I see... Using characters lack of knowledge to trick them into forced interactions or doing things for yourself so they can get home? Oh how delectable of a situation that is to watch unfold... With that trick you could convince them to do a lot for things for you. Maybe even force recruit your favorite characters into your own personal army? I'm getting a good feeling of what you plan here. What's the next wish Lord Tabuu?" ROB did not hide his excitement.

"... For my next request I'd like the ability to perform reality manipulation of any kind including generating inanimate objects, food, or basic living necessities to entertain and keep characters in my dimension alive before it gets new land. As a weakness my ability to change my own dimensions environment and what is contained in it should be restricted based on how much outside land has been absorbed and shunted into my dimension through Subspace bombs. Successive additions of added places under my control should increase my power and overall abilities. Initially I should start with only the portal, disc abilities, and ability to spawn food or essential living items for any human, then evolve from that point onwards. That should give me a mission to accomplish and actually give me a goal to work towards when befriending and recruiting characters, in order to build up my crossover dimension."

"Sounds like a sound plan. Got something else?

"If I were to make a portal to it, the world of trophies from Super Smash Brothers Brawl should contain what everything it has in canon, but remain completely empty and devoid of all Smash Brothers characters, enemy characters, sentient or robotic life. This wish will be a freebie for myself if that's okay with you."

"Eh, yeah sure whatever. It's important anyway to have a 'safe' dimension to absorb so you don't immediately aggravate other worlds and make the characters you want to befriend fucking hate you. At least at first. Any more?"

"Not right now... everything I said covers pretty much everything I'd want- wait I forgot two. No death for me, physical destruction or sufficient damage will just cause my body to retreat into a my torus(donut) shaped core(heart) for twenty four hours until I reform, it will be completely indestructible. However while I'm in that state my touch sensations remain, and capacity to feel pain to a degree. For second thing I'd also like the ability to generate shadow bugs passively in order to create an army at will. Though, that ability and how much is also linked to the amount of words Subspace had eaten. The last one is I'd like to be able to spawn Subspace bombs at a whim, with the ability to customize their size and shape. That last one is another freebie."

"Kay You good now my dude?"

"Now I am. Would I be able to change any fundamentals about this scenario in the future?"

"Mmm. Sure, only if you run into predicaments that stall things. I'll check back in... I don't know, I'm gonna repeat this process at least seven hundred more times. Alright we'll start then. See ya!"

"Right now?"

[START]

For the second time I was thrown into another world. The descriptor 'world' was a very generous term to describe this place as it wasn't what one traditionally thought when they imagined 'world'. It was a continuously changing dark blue and purple void, with inexplicable looking and occasionally geometric patterns in the sky. The ground was observable and solid, albeit not at all natural looking. It was Subspace, and it was my new home.

"Okay so far so good. Now that I'm finally here after that complicated and long setup, I have no fucking clue who to bring in here with me." I tested my new ethereal voice. I liked it right away, very cool.

"Well... I need to spawn in someone willing to cooperate with me. At the very least willing to listen to orders, and able to be motivated to help me with my goals... " And there were many goals. Spawn more peeps, expand, make a city with peeps in it, uhh, and mess around I guess? Eh whatever I'll wing it.

'Who would work with me though? Perhaps someone a little bit familiar with strange godlike beings? It must be an individual willing to engage in a variety of activities, some inhumane, for the greater good or special benefits. Perhaps a certain salaryman turned little girl who had just been reincarnated by a different less omnipotent and certainly less omniscient self proclaimed god? Tanya would probably work for me if I bribed her with an eventual utopia.'

I waved my hand in the air, calling upon the little blonde girl, protagonist from Youjo Senki through the summoning portal.

Tanya Degurechaff materialized in the air from a portal, and her tiny boy promptly fell to the ground with a thunk.

"Oomph!" She grunted.

Tanya slowly but surely got on all fours before she stared at the ground for a moment dazed.

Looking at the strange ground spurred her to look around and study her new foreign surroundings. She eventually looked up and saw me floating in the air, in front of a dark and endlessly warping space.

"What are you!?" Tanya squeaked.

'God she sounds really young. Too young, like a toddler. What age did I bring her in at? I think she might be undercooked. More than she should be in the storyline. Dammit I should've looked through the portal into the world first and been more specific.'

"My name is Tabuu. Just so you know, I am no way way affiliated with the individual you refer to as Being X. I am a much cooler God." I responded, passively and non confrontational.

"Oh. That's uh... Wait, how would you know about Being X?" Tanya asked.

"Lucky you that I just so happened to be listening in on the conversation you had with that being after you died. As a former human I felt bad about your situation so brought you here to serve me instead of living only to spite him."

"You're a former human? That's awfully convenient for me. But that also makes more questions. What use exactly is someone recently reincarnated little girl to you? What are you exactly?"

'God, I just want to fucking pinch her cheeks and squee.'

"Let's just say using magic I found a way to ascend to a higher plane of existence, giving me a variety of powers and status as a nearly but not quite all powerful being."

"That… explains a little, but not much. If I were to take a guess I'd say higher beings require humans to do things for them? It would explain why Being X even bothered to single me out over billions of other humans. Logically a perfect God reigning over Earth would have a system already in place to deal with people like me automatically."

"As cute as your monologuing is Being X is no longer a factor you need to consider."

"So you need me then? Explain."

"As you can imagine being higher up on the inter dimensional totem pole comes with its own unique downsides. I myself can't leave this dimension, and my powers are actually fairly limited. However, I can accumulate more power should someone human or otherwise not having their existence tied to this dimension... assist me in expanding it."

Tanya didn't move, but her eyes moved to look around herself. "It doesn't seem like I have much a choice in the matter. I was warned nothing could return after something goes through one of those wormholes, and I don't seem to possess the means to leave on my own" She said.

"True. How about I motivate you to help me as an assurance? I'm gonna need to make portals to other places for you to go run errands for me, and at that point you could fairly easily just ignore my attempts to bring you back since I can't follow. So with that in mind, I'm perfectly willing and capable of providing material support for your needs so you can then serve me with no issues. I humbly request your service in exchange for supporting your material needs."

"Using each other for our own benefit? Well, it's better then being stuck in the orphanage that's for sure. Since it's not like I have the capacity to do anything else I accept your conditions, Tabuu." The adult man in a little girls body extended her hand.

"The most formal five year old girl." I shook it.

"You know my real age right?"

"Sure. But I think it's funny. You are pretty cute now."

"Tch! You ass. Whatever. So what now, can I have my old body back?" Tanya asked.

"I can manipulate reality, but I'm not a miracle worker."

Tanya had a confused and very questioning look.

"Well it's not so much I can't but that your original body kind of got flattened by a train and is not in one piece. Hard to restore your original form in that very much dead state. Also I haven't exactly performed a sex change before with these powers should you just want to gender swap back, and I'm sure you'd rather not be used as a test subject for something I've never done before."

"So you don't have a full grasp of your powers? Or you haven't experimented enough?"

A small table, chair, utensils, and plate with food on it phased into existence with a thought.

"As I said I'm limited right now due to lack of experimentation, and sheer boredom. But I'm still on the fence about messing with another persons DNA, a lot more can go wrong there then you realize. However, making an Omelet is pretty easy."

"Thanks. Already you're proving more hospitable then Being X..." She moved to sit, and started eating right away.

Meanwhile I floated in the air mindlessly. Wondering what sort of missions I could put an intelligent Japanese man in a prepubescent child's body on.

'Hmm. Maybe I should give her a disc soon. She only needs to be able to carry a Subspace bomb then have it activated, so her newly bestowed powers needs to be… wait, can't I just grant her the ability to shoot out Subspace bombs? That would be a lot easier, though limited by the discs.' I mused. There was a lot to muse over about.

I inclined my head and began staring at the dark distorted sky. Wondering what weird circumstances I'll be able to set up in the future. What more characters do I want to add?
