Parappa wasn't sure who the 'Hatzgang' were, But he knew the letter was addressed to him, He took the envelope with him outside and quickly opened and begun to read it.
The handwriting was actually quite nice for how crude it was on the envelope.
"Dear dogboy, After much consideration we have decided to reach out in order to be friends and not enemies! If you agree to join us, Meet us behind the candy store tonight after the street lights shine.
From the hatzgang."
The pup took a few minutes to figure out who this was from as that first time became a blur from the sheer amount of stuff that happened, Them he remember.
'Oh yeah i punched a kid.' Granted it was in defense, Not only self defense but to protect Skid and Pump.
Parappa decided to accept the offer anyway because that's what he could use right now, Some buddies to chill with while he searched for his friends and family, Man what a story he'd have to share with them!
A loud creaking sound signaled the door opening. "Pappy rappy!" Oh it was Skid!
The kid ran up to him, Still in costume. "Look what i learned!" The child begun to whistle a bit or well, Attempt to, It sounded broken and disjointed between the actual whistling sound Skid was trying to make but it was still an effort.
"That was super cool!" Parappa said while subtly folding up the letter he had before sticking it in his pocket.
The skeleton mask's mouth curved up in a large but still friendly grin. "I'm gonna go show Pump!" And with that the kid ran off, The pup tried to yell for him to be careful but who knows if he heard him, Since the boy was whistling loudly while he ran.
Once alone again shortly after, The pup once again found himself with the need to quell what ever unknown part of him that wanted to bark a random times.
This time he didn't bark though, He made a sound similarly to the choppy sound Skid kept making, 'What the heck!?' He thought, It oddly did bring a little relief and even more so when he did it again.
Of all things, Parappa hoped to get to the bottom of that most of all, He's already developed this uncontrollable habit of bashing his new tail into the ground from time to time, Not hard but he just had to do it, And just the thought of it made him do it another three times.
It wasn't just something he could repress, The tail thing just happened whenever, But focusing on it made it worse, His urge to bark or now, Whistle, Felt like if you were holding your breath, You'd quickly begun to feel your lungs burn with the urge to bring air back through them.
He took a deep breath and exhaled, Letting the thoughts slip past his mind, It will be fine! 'I just gotta believe!' he thought.
It didn't cross his mind that the hatzgang was probably setting up a trap for him as he was way too trusting.
Parappa went inside to try on the clothes that Lila had bought him, She had already gone to her room to catch up on her work assignment, She was an architect apparently.
The pup ended up deciding on wearing a lavender short sleeved sweater like shirt over a long white long sleeved one with his dark blue baggy jeans, He always preferred comfort over style.
He waited as the instructions said, He killed time by talking to Lila whenever she took breaks from work, Parappa was careful not to mention his plans to her since any reasonable adult wouldn't want a kid his age going out at night to attend a meetup likely by someone they punched not too long ago.
Once night fell, Parappa slipped out of the house, He felt a twinge of fear as he looked on at the night sky, It was unlike anything he'd ever felt, It wasn't full on horror but enough to make his stomach feel funny for a moment.
None the less he made his way through the town, The dog was sickened to see so many missing children posters about, He eventually made it to the spot, He saw the same trio as before, The short one still had a bruise from where the dog had punched him.
He was able to get a better look at them, The one in the middle was the one he had the altercation with, He seemed to be the trio's leader, He had brown, Slightly curly hair, A blue baseball cap and a orange and yellow striped sweater.
The one to his left had jet black hair that stuck out from under his grey beanie and wore a blue denim, Button up shirt.
And the last one, On the right was the tallest, He wore a large green jacket and had blonde hair, He also wore a blue baseball cap but backwards.
"What are you doing here!?" The short one sneered, An aggressive vibe is what he gave off, The other two looked away with an odd guilt in their eyes.
"I got an invitation?" Parappa replied, A little nervously, The brunette completely dropped his aggression, Responding with a 'wut'
He quickly approached, The pup took out the letter he had gotten and handed it to him.
The leader read it and then looked at both of his friends. "Do you dumbs have anything to say for yourselves?"
Then the boys stepped away, Standing in front of the brunette to explain.
"We thought that.. Maybe it would be a good idea to have someone who could fight in the gang, Especially with everything going on right now.." The blonde teen said.
Parappa didn't know what that meant, Though he theorized it could have something to do with the missing posters he saw.
The one in the grey beanie spoke up. "And there aren't really.. Any other teenagers around town so.. It can't hurt to expand the gang a little bit." The shortest one inhaled loudly.
What the dog expect to happen next didn't, Instead of yelling at them or hitting them, The brunette let out his breath slowly, Muttering an angry. "Fine." As he turned face Parappa, His hands on his hips
"So.. You wanna be part of the Hatzgang huh!?" The pup nodded nervously.
"Well, Take off that stupid costume... Or don't, I don't really care, I'm sure you look stupid either way." Why did everyone think he was wearing a costume? Was there really only just humans in this town?
"I'll ke-ke-ke-eep it on." Parappa said, For some reason getting stuck on the word keep, It still prompted a "Whatever." from the leader, He just didn't feel like explaining anything to them at the moment.
"I'm Roy, That's Ross." He pointed to the one in the grey beanie, Who just held up a hand and smiled, The brunette then pointed at the one in the green jacket. "That's Robert"
The dog felt confident enough, Maybe they weren't so bad. "I'm Parappa!" The leader then proceeded to snicker.
"Pfft, That's such a stupid name!" Then Robert piped up.
"I thought it was a cool name!" "Nobody cares Rob!"
"Oh.."
Parappa tilted his head, Annoyed. "Is Rappa any better for you?"
"Yep!" The pup rolled his eyes in response to the answer.
As much as the dog didn't want to hang with Roy, If there was bad stuff going on, He didn't want to be left out of the loop or defenseless either, Especially when someone as nice as Lila or her son and Pump could get hurt or worse.
Atleast Ross and Robert seemed nice enough.
Roy looked away. "You're in the gang i guess..."
"Yay!" The blonde haired boy cheered before running over and patting Parappa on the back.
"Now let's go beat up some losers!" The brunette exclaimed.
"Erm.."
"What!?"
The dog spent a minute trying to figure out something else they could do that didn't involve hurting anyone and then he got an idea.
"When i was younger we used to go to the cemetery and engage in these mini treasure hunts, Since people would put small nick-nacks in boxes there, Maybe we could go do that instead?"
"Grave robbing... I like your style!"
This was going to be a long night, Parappa could tell.
