Fairy Tales and Thunder Storms

Bib:

A powerful storm in Bayville results in all the X-Men heading underground to wait it out. What will our favourite southern pair do to pass the time?

Story:

The small meeting room underground was packed full of students. Rogue stood staring at them in the door way. None of them seemed to be bothered about the storm that was rampaging above their heads. Only a few of them seemed to be made nervous when they heard lightening.

Rogue frowned at them and turned away down the corridor. Whenever they got a warning for a storm like this, she knew just the place she wanted to be since hanging around everyone in that small, cramped room for hours was just too enticing.

Rogue went to open the door to the cupboard under the stairs when she was surprised by what she found.

Sat in the farest corner from her under the stairs was Remy. He was leaning on one leg he'd brought up and then had his other stretched out while he played with his cards. The storage room under the stairs wasn't that big so Rogue frowned.

"What you doin' in here?" she asked, knowing that she had wondered where he was when they were being moved underground.

"Could ask y' de same thing chérie. You after a broom or somethin'?" He asked, his usual resting smirk nowhere to be found on his face.

Both glanced up as they heard thunder above their heads.

"Actually, ah normal come an' hide out in here when there's a storm like this," Rogue said, grimacing as she glanced back at Remy.

If it was anyone else, she would have told them to move their backsides. Because it was him though and he had a frown on his face which she hardly ever saw on him, well, she just didn't. She tapped her finger on the door to the cupboard three times before straightening up and going to leave.

"Could always join moi if y' like?" Remy said, eyeing the space next to him.

Rogue considered that for another moment and then took him up on that offer, crawling into her spot and closing the door behind her. Instantly, the room went dark.

A warm pinkish glow sprang the small space back to life. Rogue had been reaching up to pull the string that would turn on the light when she glanced at Remy's hand. He didn't even seem to notice what she was doing. He was deep in his own thoughts. The pinkish light that left shadows on his face made Remy look more miserable than he seemed.

Rogue kept her eyes on him as she sat back against the wall.

"You doin' alright?" She asked.

"Never better," he said.

Rogue noticed that he was being short with her. She didn't know why, but knowing Remy, if he didn't want to talk, he wouldn't. That was fine with her. She looked away from him and hugged her legs to her body. She stared up at the ceiling, wondering how long this storm was going to go on for.

Guessing that it was going to be a while since it had only just started, Rogue reached forwards and started to mess with something in front of her.

Remy frowned at Rogue's back.

"What y' up t'?" he asked her.

Rogue took out the wooden plaque that was hiding her stuff behind it. She pulled out the bottle of Jack's and the book she had been reading the last time she was down here.

"Can y' keep a secret Cajun?" she asked, already knowing the answer to that question.

Remy actually smirked when he saw what she was doing. A hidden compartment and a treasure stored behind it. She really would make an excellent thief if she wanted to be one.

"It gonna cost ya," Remy said, watching Rogue move to lean back against the wall.

"Would a swig of Jack's do ya over?" she asked.

"Hmmm, that be fine by moi," he said, taking the half empty bottle from her and taking a swig.

Rogue had a small smile on her face seeing Remy like that. She opened her book and went back to just being silent since he had set the tone. He handed her back the Jack's and she took a swig from it herself.

After a long moment of just watching her read, Remy asked: "What y' readin'?"

"Just a book," she said.

"Glad y' cleared that up for moi." He said.

Rogue rolled her eyes at that.

"It's just a fairy tale book, Remy," she said.

"Y' mean like Rapunzel an' all?" He asked.

"Yeah. An' if ya don't mind, ah'd prefer it if y' kept ya mouth shut 'bout this, 'k?" she asked.

"'bout you readin' un enfant's bedtime story?" he asked.

"An' the Jack's," she said.

"Mon lips be sealed, chérie. Non probleme," he said.

She smiled at him, then went back to reading. At some point, the flickering pink light that let her read her story lead her mind away from it. She was back to staring at the card in Remy's hand that had the room lit.

"Don't y' get tired chargin' that card?" Rogue asked.

He was starting at it too, seeming to go back into deep thought. He just shrugged his shoulders.

"Keeps moi occupied," he said.

"You know, everyone else is probably gonna play a game or somethin' if you need somethin' ta keep you busy."

"Y' tryna get rid of me?" Remy asked, glancing at her.

"Ah'm just lettin' ya know so ya don't wear y'self down, that's all," she said.

Remy tilted his head as he looked at her. She looked young and vulnerable in the light of his charged card. Her skin looked so soft and he wondered what it was like to touch it.

"Whenever there was a tornado warnin' back in Louisiana, I used t' light de basement so Tante could find de candles. Sometimes, it'd take a while 'fore she could find em. Other times, we just ran out 'cause some idiot hadn't replaced em." He said.

Rogue nodded her head, and just waited. The way he spoke so softly, she had a feeling he was tapping into some touché memories.

"Dis one time, mon frére wasn't with us when de warnin' came. 'member hardly bein' able t' keep a steady charge that night. Couldn't even get hold a him by phone. Had us all thinkin' de worst back when. It almost funny dat it was him rather dan moi out in de storm. Was ma faute he needed t' go out in de first place. Didn't pick up de milk like Tante told me t'. He went missin' for three days after dat storm. Got hit over the head by une statue that came loose in de storm. Merci found him. Took care'a em. He says it be de best dam mistake I ever made 'cause he gotta meet his fiancé."

"You didn't think that," Rogue filled in for him, bringing him out of his thoughts and landing those thoughtful red orbs on her.

"Three days chérie. We thought we lost em. How could I ever see mon erreur as a blessin'?" he asked.

Rogue frowned and looked down.

"Bet your tante and pére were goin' mental on ya?" she asked.

"Oui, et les cousins." Remy added.

"You're thinkin' 'bout em now, aren't ya?" Rogue asked.

"Oui. De basement doesn't get signal so there be no callin' em when a storm hits. Never know if they be safe till it's over." He said.

Rogue frowned at that. It must have been hard for him not being with his family whenever a storm hit. It hadn't been announced that Louisiana was getting the beating of this storm that they were, but she guessed just the reminder of a storm like this was enough to upset him.

"Whenever there was a storm in Mississippi, me and Irene never had a place ta hide underground. We'd just have ta camp out in the bath tub till the whole thing was over. Mystique was never around at the time when a storm hit, but, well… ah couldn't help but worry." She said.

Remy frowned for Rogue. She and Mystique really did have a complicated relationship. Just like him and his father.

"Mystique was always alright, but ah was young and naïve back then. Didn't know who or what she really was…Irene always used ta tell meh stories ta pass the time. Fairy tales." Rogue said, glancing down at the book she'd closed.

"Dat explains de book," Remy said.

He watched Rogue's smile grow.

"Actually, she never told meh fairy tales from a book. She used ta come up with her own seein' as she was blind an' couldn't see the words in a book. We had braille books, of course, but she wasn't gonna grab one a those when a storm was ragin'."

"What sort of stories?" Remy asked, raising his eyebrow in interest.

Rogue's smile only grew more.

"Lots of em. Like this one story, about a beautiful princess locked away in a tower."

"Sounds like Rapunzel t' me," Remy said.

Rogue chuckled at that.

"Not this one. In this story, the princess is actually a bad arse."

Remy's smirk only grew as he thought of another bad arse girl he knew.

"Do tell," he said.

"Guess ah best start with once upon a time," Rogue said, smiling at him. "Once upon a time, a beautiful princess had been kidnapped an' locked away in a tower by her evil step mama who had killed the king an' took over the princess' kingdom. The evil step mama had a spell put over the princess which left her in a deep sleep so she couldn't escape this hidden tower."

"Dis be soundin' more like sleepin' beauty than Rapunzel." Remy said.

"You wanna hear the story or not?" Rogue snapped at him.

Remy raised his other hand that wasn't chargin the card, as if to say he was sorry. When his free hand came back down, it landed on Rogue's thigh. Rogue felt that same heat in her stomach and the blush rising up her neck as she always did when Remy touched her. She swallowed, trying to keep her cool as Remy gave her thigh a reassuring squeeze.

"Go on," he told her.

His speech made Rogue glance back up at his eyes that were watching her, waiting for her to continue. It gave her the perfect distraction to ignore the heat rising through her and just enjoy the moment

"She was put under a spell an' hidden away in a forest where no one could find her. The evil step mama feared that if the kingdom knew where this kick arse princess was, they'd free her an' have her lead them in ta battle against her.

It was a long while 'fore anyone found her. An' when someone did, it was by accident.

A prince from another land ended up bein' robbed an' losin' everythin' on his travels ta meet the evil step mama. He was supposed ta see if she'd marry him an' unite their two kingdoms."

"Dis prince'a yours sounds like a wouse. Why'd he even agree t' marry a woman he knew be crazy?" Remy asked.

Rogue just glared at him. Remy's smirk grew at Rogue's glare and he just stared her out. Rogue was the one to roll her eyes and shake her head after a while.

"The prince ended up stumblin' it in the forest till he found the princess' tower. Ah think Irene called him Longshot." Rogue said.

"Even his name sounds dumb,"

"Are ya gonna let meh finish?" Rogue snapped at him again.

"Désolé," Remy said, moving his free hand off Rogue's thigh to take the bottle of Jack's inbetween Rogue's legs.

Rogue had to keep her blush way down when she hinted where Remy's hand was going. He took the bottle and took a drink of it. Once doing that, he put the bottle do and returned his hand to her thigh casually, as if, it was the most natural thing in the world for his hand to be there.

His eyes meet her's once again and she was the first to turn away and resort back to her story.

"The prince, Longshot, climbed up the tower an' found her sleepin' body on the bed. He was stunned by her beauty an', yeah, he was thinkin' this was like somethin' out of a fairy tale.

He kissed the princess an' broke the spell that had been casted over her."

Rogue watched, seeing Remy look disappointed. He wasn't looking at her though and she could tell he was biting his lip.

"What, you don't like fairy tales?" Rogue teased.

"Just don't believe le sortilege could be broke dat easily. Let me guess, de princess was swarnin' all over dis homme?" Remy asked.

Rogue snorted at that. "It was the shock that woke her up from her spell. Not the kiss. The princess had been fightin' that spell for a long time an' she was on the verge of breakin' it. She just needed that kiss ta help her break the last barrier that was keepin' her under.

Anyway, he kissed the princess and yeah, woke her up. The princess was confused when she woke up. She wasn't complainin' 'bout havin' a handsome, blonde stranger wake her with a kiss, but she sure wasn't happy.

The prince was just about ta propose, but 'fore the princess could tell him hell no, they were interrupted."

Rogue watched Remy's eyebrow go up at that. That made her smile.

"A criminal who had been lookin' for the princess' tower had finally tracked down what he had been lookin' for.

"Excuse the interruption your highness, but I be here for my price," Rogue said, putting on what she hoped sounded like a deep, masculine voice. After she spoke the words the criminal said in her story, she continued in her normal voice, saying: "the criminal said, makin' himself known."

"Doesn't sound right when y' speak de male's part, chérie," Remy said, his resting smirk back on his face as he tilted his head at her.

"Oh really? Then how would ya say it swamp rat?" Rogue asked.

"Oh, de criminal woulda made une grande entrée. After gainin' de deux's attention, he woulda said: "pardon de instruction princess, but I be here t' collect mon prix."

Rogue chuckled at Remy's impression of the criminal. She had a feeling he might have sided with this character in her story.

"Longshot, being the heroic prince he was raised to be, pulled out his sword an' took his position in front of the princess who was still in bed, tryin' ta recover from the fatigue the spell had caused her.

The prince went to duel the criminal who seemed unharmed. Only, he wasn't. The criminal had some tricks up his sleeve, an' by tricks, ah'm talkin' 'bout magic."

"Magic, huh?" Remy said, smirking as he could guess what Irene had been implying.

"Yeah, magic. The criminal easily defeated the prince, but Longshot had some mad kinda stamina that was keepin' him goin'. Realisin' that, the criminal went ta the princess' side who was just startin' ta get up. What do ya think he said an' did next?" Rogue asked Remy.

Remy's smirk revealed teeth at that. His hand began to make small movements, rubbing Rogue's thigh while he kept her eyes captivated. He moved in slightly closer to her as he spoke.

"He woulda gotten real close t' la princesse' lips. So close that de princess felt her own brush 'gainst his when he told her, "'pologies princess,"

"But we be takin' a trip," Rogue filled in for him, smirking at the small revenge she had just gotten over the Cajun.

"Hey, I thought y' be lettin' moi take over de story?" Remy said, making a show of seeming annoyed, but the smile on his face said different.

"Annoyin', ain't it?" Rogue asked him, raising her eyebrow. "Any who, the criminal snatched up the drained princess in his arms an' jumped with her out the window, makin' a dash in ta the forest he knew so well.

The princess ended up fadin' in an' out for a time in the criminal's arms. She took advantage of the criminal stealin' her an' carryin' her away to rest up an' save her energy till she needed it."

"Smart girl," Remy commented.

"Oh that's nothin'. When they got ta the criminal's hide out, which was a tree house, he placed her down on her feet. The princess, who the criminal thought was a push over, turned to face her kidnapper, pissed.

"Well, ya got meh. Now what is it ya want ya low life?" she asked him." Rogue explained.

She looked at Remy expectedly and he just held a relaxed smirk on his face.

"What? I supposed t' know what happens next?" he said, he finally questioned.

Rogue shuck her head at him before continuing.

"The criminal told her she shouldn't flatter herself while reaching for the necklace 'round her neck. He tells her it was the gem he was after."

"Although, he got deux for de price of un, non?" Remy said, raising his eyebrow.

"Actually, remember like ah said the princess was kick arse?" Rogue said, a smirk growing on her face.

Remy just chuckled in response.

"Well, she literally kicked arse. Or more, punched him square in the stomach an' took her necklace back.

"I ain't no damsel in distress sugar," she told the criminal while walking towards the exit of his tree house. "Now if y'all excuse meh, I got a kingdom ta save," she told the criminal who was still recovering from her punch.

The princess took off from the tree house, managing ta see her kingdom not too far in the distance. She started to run towards it, hoping all the people she cared about would still be there." Rogue said.

"Bet de criminal didn't take de princess' escapin' with his jewel lying down, non?" Remy asked.

"The princess' jewel," Rogue corrected, "An' no, he didn't."

Rogue let her eyes glance down at Remy's hand still on her thigh momentarily. She had a sweet smile on her face as the thought of Remy still touching her just made her feel, well, special. She just couldn't get passed how, ever since he had arrived, he'd made moves to reach out to her and hold her somehow. Like when they were all watching movies in the wreckroom that one time, or when they watched that home video in his room. Or that time when he'd carried her to her room and she was pretty sure he took the long way to her room two or three times. It was just amazing to her how much Remy really did reach out to her and just held her. The others did reach out to hug her, touch her shoulder and other things, but thoses moments of contact were only brief and small. Remy's were always long and welcoming. So welcoming, that she realised she was coming to expect his touch whenever they were in the same room together. A part of her said that was a bad thing and she should lash out and cut ties before she got hurt, but another part of her just wanted to embrace his touch that made her hot and a little screamish inside at times. The latter part of her thoughts won over and she returned back to her story, feeling the most relaxed and comfortable she'd ever been while having this story told, even if she was stuck sharing space with someone else in a small, tight cupbored.

"The princess managed ta find her way back ta her kingdom," Rogue explained. "She found the farm of a couple of friends of hers who used ta live there before the evil step mama took over. Luckily, they still did.

The couple who lived there were overjoyed to see her an' made sure she was clothed an' feed. The husband ended up goin' out ta inform the rest of the kingdom that were still loyal ta the princess that she was back an' ready ta take on the evil step mama.

While this was happenin' though, the princess an' the farmer's wife got a visit from none other than the criminal himself."

"Low blow chérie, but did y' really t'ink you'd get far with mon jewel?" Remy said, filling in for the criminal's voice.

Rogue only smiled, reaching out to take the Jack's from inbetween Remy's legs and drink it. She was sure she heard Remy trying to hold back a chuckle as he watched her drink.

"Ya got it," Rogue said, removing the bottle from her lips. "The criminal was pissed that the princess had thought back an' won. But he had tracked down her tower when no one else had an' he could sure track down a princess who had just escaped him.

The princess was cleaver though. She'd seen that this criminal could fight and knew that, if they were ta go all out then an' there, her friends would get hurt an' she might end up locked back in that tower. So, 'stead a fightin' em, she decided ta strike up a bargain with the criminal."

"What be de bargain?" Remy asked.

"The princess said he could take as many jewel's from the castle's volts if he joined her in the fight against her evil step mama an' got her back her kingdom. She even promised ta let all his past sins be dismissed if he managed ta get her in ta the castle and facin' the evil step mama."

"He agreed, didn't he?" Remy asked.

"Yep. The criminal knew many secret passageways in ta the castle that not even the princess or evil step mama knew about. He managed ta sneak the princess in ta the castle while the villagers who backed the princess distracted the evil step mama's guards by causing a ruckus at the entrance to the castle."

"Did the princess kill the evil queen?" Remy asked.

"No, that's not the way she works," Rogue replied. "It did come ta a fight at first. The princess ended up over powering the evil step mama though by usin' the necklace the criminal had been after before. It gave her special powers which made her strong an' powerful. After bringin' the evil step mama to her knees, the princess offered her hand to her. She wanted ta rule the kingdom together with the evil step mama, but the evil step mama wouldn't have it.

She went ta attack the princess one last time. But the princess dodged the attack and the evil step mama ended up trippin' on her own dress an' fallin' out the castle window on t' a spike which killed her.

The princess was upset that the only mama she knew was gone, but the kingdom was much happier that the evil woman was gone. With her gone, the princess took the thrown an' the kingdom rejoiced. Everyone lived happily ever after after that," Rogue said.

"Wait, dat's it? End of de story?" Remy asked, looking disappointed.

"That's where Irene always left it," Rogue explained.

"That's be une rubbish endin'. What 'bout de criminal? What happened t' him?" Remy asked.

"Well, ah guess the princess kept ta her word an' he took off with a life time's supply of jewels an' goods." Rogue said.

Rogue watched as one side of Remy's face frowned.

"I don't think he woulda just made off in t' de night like dat. An' what 'bout de princess? What happy ending she get?" Remy asked.

"Well, she got the love of the people. She got ta reclaim her daddy's thrown an' look after them all just like she wanted to," Rogue said.

Remy really was frowning now.

"I think dat story needs a new endin' chérie," Remy said.

Rogue smiled gently at him, admitting: "Yeah, ah always was kinda disappointed with that ending. What do ya think would'a happened t' em?"

"Well," Remy said, looking smug. "First of, what I think would'a happened that ya didn't mention before was dat the princess would'a been mighty impressed an' intrigué by de dashingly handsome criminal. Him knowin 'bout these secret passage ways an' findin' her deux times like he did. She would'a complimented de criminal an' he would'a been proud t' have his work admired."

"Ya sure the princess wouldn't a been creeped out that this guy could'a entered her chambers at any time when she was a kid? Might'a been thinkin' he was the ghost hautin' her castle," Rogue said, balancing her head on her hand as she watched Remy. She tried to put her hand down, casually, on her thigh where Remy's hand already was. She hoped he was too busy thinking of the answer to her questions to notice, but of course, he did. His hand over straight out from under hers, only to be placed a second later on top of her hand and his fingers reaching out to curl up his hers. Rogue let him capture her hand the way he did, amused that he didn't look at her once while he was switching up there positions.

"Might'a been, but at dis point, her mind would'a been on other t'ings. Defeatin' de evil queen for one," Remy said. "When it came t' that, well, dis criminal, he didn't agree t' do de job just 'cause he was offered une plus grande récompense. De criminal lived for de thrill an' enjoyed a good puzzle. What thrill would leadin' a princess down some secret passage ways he'd already been down countless times over be? He could'a just stolen those crown jewels whenever he wanted. Non, he didn't agree t' de job for de riches. He agreed 'cause dis princess puzzled him. Dis strong, brave, smart femme who had a guard 'bout her, like she be hidin' somethin' an' that be what attracted de criminal.

All these women this here criminal had come across in dis fairy tale land were either une of deux women. First be damsels in distress. Woman who fell so easily for de homme, wantin' him t' steal em away like he did their hearts. The others, well, they be disgusted by his thievin' ways. Frightened of him, even. They shunned de homme, makin' his life dat much harder.

Mais, here be dis beauté d'une femme who wasn't scared of him nor shunnin' de criminal. Neither was she fallin' all over de homme, which puzzled de criminal. Instead, she saw him for all dat he was, all dat he could be an' gave him a chance t' show his worth. He wanted t' know more 'bout dis princess, dis rare gem dat he'd discovered. One dat had been locked away from the world just 'cause some crazed femme be jealous. He took de job, 'cause he wanted to be closer t' her." Remy said.

"Ya turnin' this in ta a love story?" Rogue asked, felling herself become extremely hot all of a sudden. She was glad, however, that they had little light in the cupboard since she really didn't want to be seen blushing.

Remy's smirk only grew as he'd noticed the blush up Rogue's neck.

"Probleme?" he asked.

Rogue glanced away, closing her eyes and shrugging her shoulders.

"After de princess lost her evil belle-mère, she be lonely. She might'a had de whole kingdom t' keep her busy an' be like une deuxième famille, but she still lived in dis grand castle all by her lonesome. To her, it felt like bein' locked away in dat tower of hers all over again only, dis time, she didn't know how t' break free.

De criminal saw her pain. Saw his princess, now turned queen, struggle t' break free from her new found prison. Luckily, he be quite skilled at gettin' in an' outta places. He knew just what his queen needed t' do t' escape her misère an' he was gonna help her do it."

"Oh really?" Rogue asked, resting her head on her fist and looking smug. "An' how'd he help her?"

"He stole her of course," Remy said, his teeth showing through his large grin.

Rogue sniggered, "Oh that dam criminal!"

"Oh, he be one interestin' homme dis here criminal. He snuck back in t' de castle an' kidnapped his beautiful queen from her chambers once more. When she woke up, she woke up in his humble abode."

"The tree house?" Rogue questioned.

"Oui, de treehouse. De queen, well, she acted like she was mad, but really, she wasn't. She wondered what de incredibly handsome criminal was up t'. What she wasn't expectin' was for him t' lock her away in his tree house an' challenge her t' escape."

Rogue burst out laughing at that.

"You're serious?" She asked.

"Tres. De deux ended up fightin' it out, bein' evenly matched. There brawlin' went on f' days. The queen hadn't had tellement amusant like dis f' une long time. Eventually, the criminal let de queen go." Remy said.

"What? Just like that? What was the point of kidnappin' her in the first place?" Rogue asked, becoming rather disappointed in Remy's retelling of her story's ending.

"That is exactly what de Queen thought. She went back t' her kingdom that was in panic an' calmed em down after she reassured them all she be fine. While she got things back t' normal though, de Queen couldn't help but t'ink about dat criminal.

The Queen, bein' une wild one, began t' use the secret passage ways the criminal had shown her t' sneak out of de castle at night an' go visit the criminal in his tree house. De criminal, who was more of a night person, was always happy t' keep the Queen entertained till she had t' go back t' her big, lonesome castle.

Eventually, the Queen confessed her love t' the criminal and they got married when de criminal was ready t' give up his old thievin' ways t' find new ways to steal his wife's heart away… 'though, he took une side job here an' there. He did love his profession after all, an' be extremely bien at never gettin' caught.

De deux ended up havin' a few kids an' settlin' down in de criminal's tree house once de enfants were old enough t' rule. There, in dat marouillous treehouse of theirs, the deux lived happily ever after."

Rogue couldn't help the large smile that had come to rest on her face as she listened to Remy finish tell the whole story.

"Well, what do y' t'ink? Dat endin' be better dan y' mére's?" Remy asked her.

Rogue's smile grew into a smirk.

"It was real cute. But ah do think ya got one thing wrong in your verson," she said.

"Oh, an' what be that?" Remy asked, his own smirk growing.

"Ah think it wasn't the Queen who confessed her love. Ah reckon it was the criminal. After all, he was the one who was seekin' her out an' couldn't help but interfered in her life. Bet he was swept off his feet from the moment he meet her an' he knew he was hooked."

Remy chuckled at Rogue's twist to his ending and made to lock his fingers more firmly in her hand.

"Y' really t'ink so?" he asked.

"Ah know so," Rogue said, their eyes coming to lock on each other.

Rogue was the first to look away as she asked: "What 'bout Longshot? If we're givin' all the characters endings, what's his ending?"

Remy just scoffed and shuck his head.

"Dat idiot ended up gettin' lost in de woods an' eaten by wolves. No big story there," he said.

Rogue chuckled heartily at that. He really didn't like the golden boy character.

When they managed to stop laughing, Rogue just looked at Remy, unsure what to say. Remy watched Rogue too, their eyes locking for a second time. Her lips had parted only slightly, and with Remy's charged card casting a pink glow, her lips looked luscious and soft. Rogue was sure the room was getting smaller as the space between them seemed to get smaller.

A gruff voice interrupted the pair's intense staring contest and made Rogue rip her hand out from under Remy's. Rogue turned her head up to see Logan bending over the cupboard door slightly to glance inside. He's eyes landed on her first, then they flashed over to Remy.

"Logan! What's up?" Rogue asked, seeing Logan getting more annoyed by the second.

Logan shifted his attention back onto Rogue.

"Storms over. We're all headin' back upstairs now." The way Logan said it was more of a demand than a notice.

Rogue glanced back at Remy, smirking slightly before she went to crawl out of their hiding space.

Remy put Rogue's book and whisky back in its secret hiding place, making a mental note to replace her Jack's sometime soon since it was near empty. They were going to need more for the next time they decided to tell stories during a storm. He just wondered when the next time would be.
