Ch. 7

After breakfast, the group met up with the archeologists. Only to have the girls were assigned research, while the guys did the heavy lifting. The two girls found themselves under an open tent. Where they could see the two slayers working.

"Last night, what did you give Cobra? Because I have never seen him so docile." Lucy had asked, causing the two to turn towards him. "He is so laid back, doing his job without so much as a grumble."

Hermione blushed, she had only heard that Remus Lupin was able to keep his mind and sleep through the night. But hadn't realized that his overall behavior would have changed. Then again, she did have a hard time believing he was a werewolf. Since, he was mainly calm, even during the week leading to a full moon.

"I just know that it has a calming effect on certain wild creatures," she supplied.

Lucy giggled, "Well, I have only known him to be a wild creature."

The two scored the books that they were given. Only for Hermione to find what they were looking for.

"Doctor Davis," called Hermione to their employer. Once he had made his way over, Hermione showed him the book she had. "This book indicates that we're at a lost Celestial Temple of the King. One of two creators of Earthland."

The head archeologist shook his head. "That's not right. The temple was a myth." He grabbed the book and a photo of the depicted symbols. Only to gasp, "What dangers have we brought, just by being here?"

Dr. Davis shook his head, before looking at Lucy. "Miss Heartfilia, aren't you on speaking terms with your Celestial King?"

Lucy nodded her head. "What would you like to know?"

"Can you summon the Southern Cross, the knowledge spirit?"

She gave a worried look before calling out for her spirit. Only to find out that she couldn't. "Something is preventing me from calling him."

The archeologist gave Hermione the photo and asked her to read it. "The Celestial King built the world from his tears. This land is holy, due to the point of origin of said tears. Once the land and water formed the world. He was blessed by his beautiful creation that he named, Earthland."

She took a deep breath. "The king called out for his brother to witness such a site. Only for said brother to voice that it looked bare of life. So the two brothers grabbed a handful of dirt and brought a breath of life to it. Bringing the birth of the first mages and dragons."

"...mages...dragons," the archeologist gasped in wonder. Grabbing his notebook, and wrote everything that Hermione had read. "Anything else?"

"The first mages were grateful and built the temple in remembrance of his gift to them. Once it was finished, he forged keys to his children, but only found that a few shared his unique magic. Only allowing his first twelve Celestial Children to become Celestial Spirits. Gifting them the magic of the cosmos to aid their own children of time…"

Hermione turned to Lucy with worry, before reading on. "The children of the twelve, didn't all get these Celestial gifts or the power of their parents' keys. Causing the first Celestial War on Earthland."

"First Celestial War," gasped Lucy in despair. The two Dragon Slayers had heard her. Causing the two Slayers to rush over to them. Tears in her eyes, "No, I can't be."

Hermione closed her eyes for a moment, before reading on. "The king wasn't happy. Causing his brother to send his dragons to stop the fighting. Only to split not just mage versus mage, but also dragon. Bringing the origins of the first Dragon Slayers…"

Hermione pushed the photos away from her. Jumped to her feet, turning towards the temple with sorrow in her eyes. "Draco, the Celestial Dragon, waged war against the un-gifted."

"Ungifted," asked Lucy with fear in her voice.

Hermione turned back to look into the blonde's eyes. "Those without similar magic…" Tears fell from Hermione's eyes. "Children of the king, the gifted of life."

Gajeel grumbled, "And the Dragon Slayers?"

Hermione had taken a deep breath. "Gifted children of Draco, second only to the true dragons. Those that follow Draco's law. Give life, but never take it. Those that do, are forever lost."

"Riddles," grumbled Cobra. "Always riddles."

Hermione turned to him with sorrow in her eyes. "There was this legend from where I'm from. Dragons who don't help humans, they would never be part of the stars, when they die. Destined to be forgotten."

Lucy cried as she stood on her feet. "I need to talk to crux." She grabbed Hermione's hand, before rushing off. Stating that they will be back.

Cobra leaned back against a tree. Feeling overwhelmed, not just by the information that they learned. But hearing Lucy crying 'NO' from her soul.

While hearing Hermione trying to fight with her own feelings. Which was all over the place. But he felt sorrow, anger, and hollowness coming from her. 'Why can't legends stop at happiness and not end with war?'

At a distance, his dragon hearing couldn't pick them up. But his soul hearing could. Letting him know what was going on.

"Star Gazer isn't too happy. She found that she's prohibited from going into the temple."

"Bunny Girl," whispered Gajeel. "She must be crying her eyes out?"

Cobra shook his head. "Not really, but heard from which Celestial Spirit she came from. Only to die a little inside."

"Who," asked not just Gajeel, but also Dr. Davis.

"The Mermaid," stated Cobra with hollowness in his voice.

"Oh shit," Gajeel hissed, before rushing off to the girls.

"What's wrong, what about Aquarius that's causing the pain?"

"Remember the demon wars that Fairy Tail faced?" When He had gotten a nod. "She summoned the Spirit King. One can't just summon him without destroying a key. A key that she had great love for…"

The archeologist hissed. "What tearable odds…"
