Adult Gossip

As some of the younger residents in the mansion have begun to click on to the spark between Rogue and Remy, have the adults?
Story:
When Logan glanced up from where he was peeling potatoes with his claws, Hank, Ororo, Jean and the Professor were chuckling at something amusing Remy had just said. He watched as Remy's attention quickly seemed to be diverted else where and he was excusing himself before the others could recover.
Logan smelled Rogue before he saw her and, of course, watched as Remy approached her from behind. All of the members in the kitchen watched as Remy placed his hand on Rogue's lower back and made her jump in startlement. All was silent in the kitchen for a time. The only thing that could seem to be heard was Scott and Logan's silent dissatisfaction at Remy approaching Rogue.
"Do you reckon they know?" Ororo asked out loud.
"Hmmm," Jean questioned, turning her head towards Ororo.
"I believe it is pretty obvious to everyone except themselves," the Professor added.
"I wouldn't be so sure about that," Hank added. "Remy has a keen eye and always seems to know what he wants."
Logan snorted at that. "The Cajun really needs to know when he's out of his depth," he said.
Ororo rolled her eyes as she glanced at Logan.
"Now, don't be grumpy Logan. You know you can't protect her forever." she said.
"I think Logan's right. He's clearly treading on waters he doesn't understand and who do you think will have to clear up the wreckage."
"Scott!" Jean scorned.
"What? It's true," Scott said.
After a glare from Jean though Scott held his hands up. "Ok, ok, so maybe I could have been a little bit nicer on how I put things. But still, a guy like that, he's no good for her. He's going to make a mess of things and then take off leaving us to clean up the mess."
"That lies the fate of all young hearts unfortunately. It's very rare that one finds a relationship at such a young age that will last them a life time," Hank said.
"True. Heart break is something that no one can avoid," the Professor said.
"Although, it presents quite a journey," Hank added.
"Indeed," Ororo confirmed. "But do you think Rogue feels the same way? Has she even noticed Remy's advances?"
The room fell silent once again as a lot of the adults in the room returned to watching Remy and Rogue in the corridor. It looked like Rogue had been scolding Remy for his sneaking. A few more words were spoken, before Rogue folded her arms and leant on one leg like she normally did, making her look moody. There was eye rolling from her and it looked as if she was irritated by Remy, but there was a smirk that played at her lips. Soon, she turned and Remy followed her as they walked deeper into the mansion and out of eye shot from the kitchen.
"From Rogue's actions, I assume not. OR, if she has, she does not appear to be amused by Remy's advances," Hank said.
"Oh, I think she knows," Jean said, collecting a few looks from around the room. "I've not dipped into her head, but it's pretty obvious. She must know, shouldn't she?" Jean asked, becoming rather uncertain.
"I remember when a certain other bright spark didn't realise a man was interested in her until the words were spoken," Ororo said, drinking her green tea.
Jean blushed and stammered for a time.
"Whether Rogue has noticed or not, as long as she is comfortable in her surroundings and with her relations with Remy, then there is no issue," The Professor said as he drank his tea. "And, for the record, yes, I believe she does know." The Professor said with a rather smug look.
"Really?" Ororo questioned as her eyebrow rose at the Professor.
Ororo's attention suddenly turned to one of the most quietest men in the room and the one she expected to have the most opinion on the situation.
"And what about you Logan. Do you reckon she is aware and simply playing hard to get?" Ororo asked.
Logan grunted, slicing the peeled potato he was holding in half.
"None of my business Ro," Logan said.
"Oh, come on Logan," Jean said, leaning on her hand as she glanced at him. "We all know how close you are to Rogue. Tell us, what do you think?"
Logan grunted once again.
"I reckon she's wary. Possibly ain't even thinkin' about romance," Logan said.
"And what makes you say that?" Ororo questioned him.
"She's a girl who's had secrets hidden from her all her life, been tricked, betrayed, used and forced to cut off all human conections for sometime. Goin' through all that's gonna have an affect on anyone, so no, I don't reckon she has puppy love on the brain. I reckon she's liein' in wait, waitin' for the Cajun to do something to let her down or betray her." Logan said.
There was a heavy silence in the room.
"That's rather…dark, Logan." Scott said.
Logan grunted. "You wanted my answer, you got it. Don't blame me if it ain't all roses and daisies."
"I'm not denying Rogue's been through a lot, but…" Scott wondered off. "To live like that, think like that, she couldn't-"
"Stop herself from feeling?" Logan cut in. "Sometimes, it's easier to shut down. There's a possibility she ain't ever gonna touch again. Throw a spanner like that at someone and can you blame her from wantin' to cut ties from emotions like that."
"There is still hope for Rogue," the Professor stated, placing his mug down.
"I sure hope so chuck," Logan said.
"There is and Rogue still holds onto that hope as well," The Professor said, glancing out towards the hallway where Remy and Rogue had been. "Hope that her situation will improve. Hope that she will be able to touch once more. Trust once more. And, hope that there will be someone in this world that will love her the way that she deserves."
The Professor began to move his chair as he went to exit the room. Before he left, however, he was sure to say "And yes, I did take a peep into her mind."
