The next day, Lili entered the Pantheon with a neutral look. From what she gathered, using an Advisor's service was one of the best decisions if you could not rely on your senior's guidance. Lili approached one of the counters, although she couldn't reach the top of the counter. Fucking Pallum heights.
She knocked on the counter to get the attention of the one manning it.
"Yes?" A head looked down and met her eyes. "What can I help you with?"
Lili looked straight into the eyes of the werewolf in front of her. Maybe because her eyes in this life weren't red, her usual glare did not seem to affect her.
Oh wait, she used a mask as Fianna. She never knew if her glare was the one shutting the people up or something else!
"Liliruca Arde, Soma Familia. I want to use the service of an Advisor."
"Wait for a minute. Let's see... Hmm? From the document, it is said that Soma Familia does not use any Advisory service."
Tch, that Zanis. Even covering his bases to such degrees. Now, what would be the best option here? No, she shouldn't say anything at this stage. She hadn't even put up a plan aside from going to the Dungeon and getting stronger.
"Fine. Just give me the starter armor and weapon," Lili put her arms together.
"...Are you sure?" The werewolf lady asked for confirmation. No doubt, having a good look at her appearance. A Pallum child who was trying to be an Adventurer. No matter what age, the Pallums were subject to discrimination. If there was something she, as Fianna, detested, it was things like that.
"Yes," she growled. Although the sounds that came out were squeaky instead of menacing. Damn, she hated her new body.
The red-haired Werewolf lady sighed. "Fine. I'll draft the contract."
Three minutes later, she was back, bringing a piece of paper. "Upon this agreement, the first party, the Guild of Orario, agreed to enter a contract with the second party, Liliruca Arde of Soma Familia. The first party will give a set of weapons and armor to the second party. In return, the second party's earnings from the Dungeon will be cut ten percent each day until the cost of the weapon and armor are paid off. Please sign here."
The Werewolf lady pointed out the corner of the paper. Lili took the pen and then pushed it to the form before she stopped. Right now, she wasn't Fianna. Tch. She almost lost herself and signed it under Fianna's name. Letting out a breath, Lili signed it.
"What weapon and armor do you want? I'll bring it to you."
"A long spear. As for armor, whatever fits me." She had no illusions that the Guild had any armor piece that matched her, a six-year-old Pallum.
As it turned out, there really was no armor that fit her. Lili only harrumphed and accepted the oversized spear, and walked away. As it turned out, the spear was heavier than she thought. Or maybe it was her lack of strength. She took for granted the Bloodfury Spear that gave her immense power back in her time. Now that she didn't have it, she found her strength lacking.
Grumbling about stupid Spirits, Lili walked to the exit.
"Hey," she heard the Werewolf lady calling out. Turning back, Lili found t the Werewolf lady looking at her. "Be careful out there."
"...Thanks."
And so Lili went to the Dungeon, dragging her spear on the ground.
A few minutes later, Lili arrived in front of the Dungeon, still dragging her spear. She got a lot of stares for using an oversized (for her size) spear and having no strength to use it. But her experience as Fianna allowed her to ignore the people talking about her.
Suddenly her spear was lifted off the ground. Looking back, she saw a blonde girl around her age lifting it with a smile. From the look, she did not appear to have any bad intentions toward her.
"Thank you, Miss Adventurer."
"Aren't you also one?" The blonde girl replied. "You're welcome."
"This is my first day," Lili revealed.
The other girl frowned. "Whose Familia are you from?"
Lili blinked. Why did she suddenly frown like that?
"Soma Familia," she answered. "And you?" She questioned her back, wanting to know what other Familia was crazy enough to send someone so young to the Dungeon without supervision. Her crazy Familia was sufficient; no need for others.
"Ais Wallenstein, Loki Familia," the blonde replied. Offering her hands, the girl continued, "Shall we go together? I only managed to reach the fourth floor without supervision."
Now she was the one worried about this Ais girl. Her Familia, Loki, was one of the strongest two Familia in the city. Yet, they couldn't spare any resources to supervise this girl? Either they were crazy or incompetent. Lili looked the girl in the eyes and couldn't find any shred of worry about herself there. This one got crazy confidence in her.
She reached towards the extended hand. "Liliruca Arde."
Maybe the Loki Familia wasn't crazy, and this one was prodigious or something. Either way, going with her increased both their survival expectancy. Whether she would be the one saving this Ais girl or vice versa remained to be seen.
It turned out that Lili had been the one who needed saving. A lot.
Well, Lili did not really expect that her Bloodfury Spear loss would shake her so much. She relied too much on the power back then, and now that she didn't have it, she struggled to even kill some goblins and kobolds. Luckily for her, Ais Wallenstein of Loki Familia was a prodigy. While it was evident that she was still learning how to use her sword as an extension of her body, Ais had several months of experience in the Dungeon. Her status was probably not all zero like hers.
It was painful to admit but maybe rushing down the Dungeon alone was a mistake. It was by fate that she met Ais and survived. But she could not rely on her Familia. Aside from the fact that now everyone was bound to the taste of Soma wine, there was the mastermind behind all that; Zanis. Oh, how she wanted to rip that smug motherfucking face off...
Anyway, the two finished for the day after killing monsters on the third floor and left the Dungeon. Again, Lili could feel the stares at them as they walked. This time, the looks and whispers were divided between the two of her and Ais. She felt a little bad about it, to be honest. Ais was really likable. Aside from that one time she probed her for her weird fighting style, she kept silent and killed monsters.
They arrived in the Guild and exchanged the magic stones for money. Both she and Ais agreed that they would split the pay fifty-fifty. Lili's own was cut ten percent per the agreement between her and the Guild. Lili looked at the amount of money she had gotten. It wasn't big, but it wasn't small either. She pocketed it and left with Ais.
When they arrived at an intersection, their body language showed them that this was where they parted ways. Ais smiled at her and asked, "Same time tomorrow?"
Lili looked at Ais. Did she seriously just offer to go together again? She only killed a small handful while the rest was dispatched by Ais. And yet she agreed to go fifty-fifty. It wasn't like Lili did not appreciate it; she really did. However, Ais Wallenstein was being too generous. There had to be something she wanted by being helpful to her.
"You said you had gone to the fourth floor alone," Lili stated, asking for confirmation.
She got an answer and a nod, "Yes. Why?"
"Aren't I impending your own progress?"
She should not ask that question, especially considering she really needed Ais' help. However, seeing as Ais was an apparent prodigy, holding her back from her potential would be a crime. She had sinned by holding Dim back from his potential, all because she was afraid of losing him to that piece of shit Cormac. Would she do the same to Ais Wallenstein?
The answer was a clear no. Lili would not hold back Ais Wallenstein, and therefore, it was better for Ais to go alone instead of having to rescue her and halting her own progress.
However, contrary to her expectation, Ais shook her head, denying her query. "It's more fun delving with you rather than my seniors."
Ah, Lili realized. That answered her questions. Ais was indeed a prodigy who once had been under supervision. However, her evident talent let the higher-ups in the Loki Familia allow her to go alone. She said she had been going with her seniors but now went alone; it implied that she had no one in her age group in the Familia. Maybe she was lonely and needed a friend.
She might not be the best friend someone could get, but if Ais really wanted that, she would let Ais call her a friend.
"Okay."
"Okay," Ais nodded affirmatively. The two then parted ways to their own Familia home.
