Ch 20 The Battle Concludes

Zira raised her paw to slash Simba's throat. But before she could a dark brown blur came swooping in, tackling Zira to the ground. Simba opened his eyes and he saw Malkia on top of Zira. Simba started to get to his feet but a stabbing pain in his side quickly prevented him from doing so. Just then Simba felt someone applying pressure to his wounds. Looking over the golden King saw Naya there along with Cala. Both lionesses were making mud and applying it to Simba's wounds in an effort to stop the bleeding. "Don't worry Simba we've got you," Naya said with a smile.

"Thank you," Simba said with a wince. "But I think Malkia may need your help." As if on cue Malkia let out a roar of pain as Zira struck him hard in his face, sending him stumbling backwards and into Cheezi and Ed, who wasted no time in attacking Malkia and taking him to the ground.

"I'm on it!" Cala cried out, racing to help her friend. "Naya stay with Simba. He's gonna need your help!" With that the peachy coated lioness tackled Cheezi to the ground, giving Malkia time to throw Ed off of him.

"I'm good Naya," Simba said. "Take down Zira. She has to be stopped no matter what." Naya looked at Simba, unwilling to leave him while he was in such a vulnerable state. But the light tan lioness knew that Simba was right. So she reluctantly left the injured King after making sure his bleeding was under control. As Simba watch his friend go he silently cursed himself for not being able to help. But he knew that even if he somehow managed to get to his feet he'd be useless in the battle. So Simba was forced to lay there and watch the battle between his Pride and Zira's unfold.

Meanwhile Vitani, Kovu and Miwa were having trouble getting the bleeding to stop. "What am I doing wrong?!" Kovu cried out as he applied more mud to Kiara's side.

"Need some help?" a voice asked. The three cubs turned and saw Kopa standing there along with Zuri and Tiifu.

"Boy do we ever," Vitani muttered. "We can't seam to stop this bleedin'."

"I got this!" Kopa cried out, jumping into action.

"You mean we've got this!" Tiifu piped up as she and Zuri went to help as well. Vitani, Kovu and Miwa watch with awe as the three cubs worked quickly and stopped the bleeding within minutes.

"Wow how'd you do that so fast?" Kovu asked.

"You've gotta keep a clear head," Kopa said with a smile.

"Yeah," Tiifu chimed in. "And besides you guys did most of the work anyways.

"Its a good thing we were coming back from our trip and heard all the commotion," Zuri chimed in. "Otherwise I think Kiara and Kion would be dead right now."

"Hey where's everyone else?" Miwa asked.

"Out there," Kopa said, pointing to where the others had joined in the battle. Fuli and Ono were there as was Beshte and his family along with their Pod were there along with Timon, Pumbaa and Bunga.

"Its over Zira!" Malkia hissed, pinning the crazed lioness to the ground. "You've lost!"

"I've lost nothing!" Zira snarled, hitting Malkia in his face. But Naya and Cala were there and they quickly subdued Zira, making it impossible for her to move. By now Shenzi and her hyenas realized they were on the losing end and they quickly retreated. Nala walked towards Zira with Sarabi and Sarafina right behind her.

"Give up Zira," the creamy lioness growled. "And we'll make sure your death is quick and painless."

"I'll never give up!" Zira snarled. "Never! Not as long as I have a breath left in me!" With that Zira let out a roar of fury and broke free. Two lionesses from her Pride had been sneaking up behind Nala and they quickly attacked Sarabi and Sarafina, taking the older lionesses to the ground.

"Mom!" Nala cried out, her blue eyes wide. Zira took this opportunity to run as did the rest of her Pride. By the time Nala turned back around they were gone. Naya and Cala went after them while Nala tended to Sarabi and her mother. "Oh Mom are you alright?" Nala asked, helping Sarafina to her feet.

"I'm fine dear," Sarafina said, shaking her head slightly. "A little dizzy but I'll be fine."

"We both will be," Sarabi chimed in as she too got to her feet. Just then Tama and the others joined the group.

"Oh Malkia are you alright?" the light gold lioness asked, nuzzling her mate.

"Yeah I'm good," Malkia said, wiping the blood away from his eyes. Then his brown eyes got wide when he remember Simba. "Simba!" Malkia cried out, running over to his injured friend. But to his surprise he saw Simba was already being taken care of by Vumbi and Nuka. "What..." the dark brown lion muttered, his eyes wide with shock.

"Yeah apparently they're on our side now," Simba said, sounding just as confused as Malkia.

"The cubs!" Nala cried out, her blue eyes wide. "Simba Kion and Kiara..."

"They're going to be fine," Tojo said, limping towards the group with Mhuni and Mshiki on either side of him. "They're on the other side of that rock." Tojo nodded towards the boulder that the cubs were hiding behind. Nala raced over with Tama and Sarafina right behind her. Tojo sat down with a sigh and rubbed his injured side. The pale lion looked over and saw Simba staring at him. "I couldn't let Zira kill your cubs," Tojo said. "I...I should have cut ties with her long ago but I didn't. She's still my sister and I knew if I left there'd be no hope for Nuka, Vitani and Kovu. I'm sorry Simba. I really am."

"Tojo I..." Simba began. But just then Cala and Naya returned. "Zira got away I take it?" the golden King asked.

"We're sorry Simba," Cala said. "But they had to much of a head start."

"We'll worry about her later," Malkia said. "Right now we need to get back to Pride Rock. Simba you're hurt and you need Rafiki to look at you. And the cubs..." Malkia trailed off as he saw Nala coming towards them with the injured Kiara and Kion on her back. Simba began to stand. But it was only with the help of Malkia, Cala and Naya that he was able to do so. Without another word the group began to walk back towards Pride Rock.

"Tojo you and the others should come to," Simba called out. "You need medical attention too." Tojo exchanged surprised looks with Vumbi but neither one of them said anything. Instead they walked silently back to Pride Rock with their cubs right behind them.

TLKTLKTLK

As the group reached Pride Rock Zazu went to get Rafiki while the others got settled. Kopa and other other cubs were off to the side. "So what you're on our side now?" Kopa asked, looking at Vitani.

"I guess so," Vitani said with a shrug. "I never really wanted to be against you guys to begin with. But I was to scared of Mother to go against her. I knew she'd kill me if things went south. I'm sorry though. I'm sorry that Kion and Kiara got hurt because of me."

"That wasn't on you," Kopa said, looing over at Zuri and Tiifu, who nodded in agreement. "That was on your crazy mom. And I'm sure once Uncle Simba hears the whole story he'll agree."

"You really think so?" Vitani asked.

"Only one way to find out," Kopa said, nodding towards Nala who was walking towards them. Nala looked at Vitani, who gulped in fear. Then the creamy lioness opened her mouth to speak.
