Chapter 10: Seek and Destroy
Wild Bill had been losing several of his mutant army men due to radiation levels getting lower in America. In fact, most of them had to make their way back to Denver because the radiation levels there were higher due to the latest nuclear bomb that was dropped on that location. They couldn't travel too far out of the United States because the radiation was the only thing continuing to supercharge the X-1 Serum, and the United Nations were heavily guarding all the nuclear power plant facilities in the Western Hemisphere. The mixture of radiation and X-1 Serum kept them nearly immortal. Without the radiation and serum, the mutants would lose their strength, and then eventually die, or they could easily be killed with simple weapons like knives and guns. If Wild Bill couldn't come up with a plan soon, all of the radiation will have dissipated in Denver, and most of his mutant army will have also dissipated as well.
But, there was one mutant out there that wasn't going to allow Wild Bill to succeed. Because Batman was on his way to Denver to put a stop to it before any plan could be set in motion. Batman was prepared. He had his weapon that could fire off diamond bullets, which could penetrate the mutant's skin, and he had his weapon that contained the new X-1 Serum, which could actually reduce the mutation, and then make Wild Bill's army that much easier to kill. Batman also had his own radioactive suit which could keep his radiation levels higher than any of Wild Bill's pack of mutants. The United Nations agreed to give Batman as much radiation as he possibly needed because they knew he was on their side. His radioactive suit alone could hold enough radiation to keep him going for more than a week. The Batmobile had plenty of backup radiation, but he wasn't planning on staying in Denver for too long. The mission was to seek and destroy.
As he made his way up the mountain in the Batmobile, he spotted several scavenger mutants. They looked as if they were dying from starvation. Wild Bill had probably sent them on their way due to their food supply getting smaller. Batman didn't have to deal with the scavenger mutants because he knew they would most likely be dead soon anyways. One of Wild Bill's lookout men spotted the Batmobile coming, and reported it to Wild Bill. Wild Bill ordered half of his army to stand guard at the wall. As the Batmobile got closer, several of the mutants charged towards it. The Batmobile knocked them down like bowling pins. As the Batmobile approached the wall, it fired off two missiles. The missiles hit the wall obliterating a thirty foot portion of it creating a huge cloud of blue smoke and dust. Then, several rounds of diamond-bullets began blasting through the smoke and dust, hitting many of the mutants that tried standing guard. Finally the Batmobile emerged from out of the blue smoke and dust. Wild Bill was watching from afar. The Batmobile suddenly stopped. Batman ejected himself from out of the car. As he soared through the air, he fired off several pellets that exploded into blue smoke, which released the reversing agent for mutation. Many of Wild Bill's pack of mutants were beginning to shrink in size. Plus most of their strength was lessening as well. Batman rolled as he landed on the ground. When he came up, he began firing off diamond-bullets, slaughtering anyone he could see within his sights. None of them were Wild Bill. Wild Bill noticed that the blue smoke was causing a reversing effect on the mutants, so he quickly put on a hazmat suit, and then prepared for his confrontation with Batman.
Batman continued firing off blue smoke pellets and diamond-bullets. Nothing was going to stop him as he finally mowed down the last of Wild Bill's army. Despite all the death, Wild Bill was still not amongst the dead.
Batman yelled out. "Wild Bill! Show yourself!" he demanded as the blue smoke started to dissipate.
Suddenly, from out of the last bit of blue smoke, Wild Bill lunged towards Batman. Batman quickly pointed his weapon with diamond-bullets at Wild Bill and fired off several rounds. But, the bullets bounce off of his hazmat suit. Apparently, the hazmat suit was lined with extra protection to stop the diamond-bullets from penetrating it. Wild Bill landed a blow to the side of the helmet of Batman's radiation suit with his large claws causing some radiation to leak out. Wild Bill put his nose up in the air. He could tell that Batman had on some sort of radioactive suit because he could literally smell the radiation drifting through the air like a sweet perfume.
"That's not fair!" Wild Bill proclaimed as he stared at the suit. "You have the radiation and the weapons! Quite the advantage, don't you think?" he rhetorically asked.
Batman piped up. "You have on a suit that can stop the blue smoke and bullets! So, I would say that this fight is quite fair! But, if you are suggesting that I have an advantage…" Batman stated as he threw his weapons down. "I will simply remove my weapons and my radiation suit if that will make you happy!" Batman declared as he began removing his helmet and other parts of his suit.
Wild Bill did the same thing by removing his hazmat suit. "Alright! Let's finish this once and for all! Mano a Mano!" Wild Bill yelled out as he took a swing at Batman.
Despite Wild Bill's speed, Batman easily blocked it. Then Batman swung back in his direction landing a blow to Wild Bill's mouth, dislocating his jaw, and causing several of Wild Bill's sharp teeth to fall out. Wild Bill grabbed his own jaw and snapped it back in place.
"You didn't think this was going to be easy, did you?" Batman asked with a smirk on his face.
Wild Bill looked down at Batman's weapons. He knew he wouldn't be able to beat Batman in hand-to-hand combat, so he dove for Batman's diamond-bullet weapon. Batman dove on top of Wild Bill as Wild Bill grabbed ahold of the gun. Batman held Wild Bill's arm so that he couldn't get a shot off. Suddenly, from out of nowhere, two of Wild Bill's army men attacked Batman. They pulled Batman off of Wild Bill allowing Wild Bill to get better control of the gun. He then pointed it at Batman. Batman had been prepared for an outcome such as that. He pushed a button on his arm which activated a magnetic field causing the gun to fly out of Wild Bill's hands and in the direction of the Batmobile, and then magnetizing to the side of it. The two mutants grabbed Batman and tried pinning him to the ground. Batman managed to get a blue pellet from out of his belt, and then shoved it into one of the mutant's mouths. The pellet blew up in the mutant's mouth causing his mutation to reverse, and then he became smaller and weaker. Batman quickly grabbed a knife from out of his boot, and then shoved it into the mutant's throat. The blue smoke began spewing from out of his neck as he dropped to the ground dead. As Batman sparred with the other mutant, Wild Bill made his way to Batman's radiation suit. He quickly put it on, and then tried to breathe in the radiation. It was very refreshing to him. Since Batman was battling the other mutant, Wild Bill tried to make his escape. Despite being held by the other mutant, Batman managed to shoot out a grappling hook, attaching it to Wild Bill's leg. The other part of the grappling hook attached itself to the Batmobile. Then Batman pushed another button causing the Batmobile to start speeding off. Wild Bill felt the tug of the grappling hook just as he was getting swept away by the speeding Batmobile. Batman then managed to kick the other mutant off of him. He threw a blue pellet at the feet of the mutant causing the blue smoke to form around him. As the mutant began to lose his powers, the Batmobile came around, and then drove directly over him dragging Wild Bill behind him. Blood of the now x-mutant splattered against the radiation helmet. Batman stopped the Batmobile and quickly pulled the radiation helmet from off of Wild Bill's head.
Wild Bill knew he was defeated. "Go ahead! Hit me with one of your blue smoke bombs! Get it over with already!" He demanded. "But, just remember, when you look around at the wastelands you live in now, that I did this to you!"
Batman put the radiation helmet back onto himself. "You think I'm going to make it that easy on you by hitting you with a blue pellet? Oooooh No! It's going to be much worse than that!" Batman declared as he jumped into the Batmobile, and then sped off, dragging Wild Bill behind him.
Batman dragged him all the way down to Mexico where there was no radiation for Wild Bill to consume. Wild Bill began to lose his strength. Batman released the grappling hook from the Batmobile allowing Wild Bill to be free. Then Batman started doing donuts in the dirt causing a huge cloud of dust to arise.
Wild Bill stood there. "I'll find some radiation. Then I'll make it back. And when I do, I'll come looking for you Batman!" He shouted as the Batmobile started speeding off into the distance.
As the cloud of dust settled, Wild Bill suddenly found himself surrounded by several Mexican refugees. They stood there holding pitchforks and spears. And they looked hungry.
"Come on, you commie Bastards! Let's see how many of you I can take out before you take me out!"
Those were the last words Wild Bill ever spoke before the refugees converged on him.
Batman drove for hours to get back to the Batcave. After he got back, and parked the Batmobile, he noticed that Robert had escaped from the cell that Batman had placed him in. The cell bars had been bent. It almost looked as if a creature had destroyed them. That is when Batman realized that Robert had probably turned back into Man Bat. Then he looked over at the table where he had developed the cure for the mutation. Everything was gone. Luckily, Batman still had some of the cure in the Batmobile.
Batman started walking back towards the Batmobile, when suddenly, a large portal opened up directly in front of him. A man in a red cape walked out from the portal.
"Bruce of Earth 237. I need you to come with me, IMMEDIATELY!"
Batman wasn't sure what he was witnessing. "Who the HELL are YOU, and where did you come from?"
"My name is Stephen Vincent Strange, A.K.A. Doctor Strange! And I come from a universe that is on the exact opposite side of your universe! If we don't leave right now, both of our universes may soon cease to exist!"
