Central City

Another day, another bad guy to take down. But it wasn't something that The Flash wasn't used to (The Flash: The Fastest Man Alive). He was chasing a getaway car filled of bank robbers that just hit Central City Bank 10 minutes ago running at half pace. He could've captured them the moment the silent alarm hit but he wanted to give them a head start. Besides he loves a good chase.

Deciding that he was done playing, Flash accelerated as he caught up with them and proceeded to dismantle the tires from the car and used the seat belts to tie them up, leaving them for the cops in 12 seconds tops.

"Did you bad guys ever learn that it's not a good idea to use a car in a speed fight?" Flash quipped feeling proud of himself.

"Not the speed puns." The thugs groaned at his bad sense of humor.

Flash sighed at the collective groans. No one appreciates his jokes around here. "Everyone is a critic." He burst into a run back to the city, allowing the law to pick them up. Flash stopped by an apartment building and went to check on a crime scene. He asked the officers for permission to enter. Naturally the officers gave it to him with the promise that he would sign autographs for their respective children. He's got no qualms with it. He loves giving the kids his autographs.

He started to look around as he started to analyze the apartment. No sign of forced entry at the door. The apartment looks clean except for the body on the floor of the living room. Based on the decomposition of the body, he'd been dead for at least 6 hours. But then his nose picked up something. It smelled like... Brimstone. Just like the two previous ones before the latest victim.

Flash let out a sigh. Yep, the demons are definitely involved in this. He might need help on this one.

Space

WatchTower

It was a normal day at the Watchtower, the base of operations for the world famous Justice League was located. An Organization complied of superheroes dedicated to protect the planet Earth from any dangers that may occurred from the inside or out.

Batman (Batman: The Dark Knight) was typing on the main keyboard, his eyes scanning over any grammar error as he was filling in a case file for the Speedster.

Wonder Woman (Wonder Woman: Princess of the Amazons) sported a look of irritation as she went to the monitor room while leaving both Hawkgirl (Hawkgirl: Thanagarian Hero) and Green Lantern (John Stewart: Green Lantern of Sektor 2814) bickering like children in the hallway. She would rather go to the Pit of Tartarus than listen to this nuisance.

"What did I tell you, Hawkgirl? What I did say to you? You cannot use brute force to solve any issues. It will only breed conflicts." Green Lantern admonished the Thangarian for her reckless actions on a mission that nearly went array somewhere in deep space.

"What was I supposed to do, John?" Hawkgirl retorted. "Stand there and take all the sexist comments about my figure? By the way they looked at us, you specially... I think they wanted me to fight them."

The former Marine gritted his teeth. It's like talking to a big brute. "Diplomatic approach will always overcome brutal tactics."

"And how did that work out the last time? Or time before that?"

Wonder Woman sighed in annoyance at their continued bickering. "What was that about?" Batman asked her.

Diana sent him a look that said "You don't want to know." Which was enough for the caped crusader. Wanting to change subject, Wonder Woman walked over to the monitor to see what Batman was doing.

"What you're working on?"

"I'm collecting data for a case Flash's working in Central City." Batman told her as he showed three pictures of the three middle aged men. "There had been three attacks that took place in a span of two months. The first victim was an archeologist, the second was mythologist and the third was demonologist. They were members of a team that participated at an archeological dig in Fortuna, an American colonized island just six miles off Italy 20 years ago. One name keeps appearing in database and is the possible link between the three. Sparda."

The Amazonian royalty stepped forward with a sense of curiosity. "Sparda? That is a name i have not heard in a very long time."

"You know him?" Batman inquired.

The person in question nodded. "Yes. The Amazons have fought alongside him after their exile to Themysicra."

"I thought that The Amazons wouldn't get involved in Man's world's affairs." Hawkgirl said having heard a bit as she headed to her fellow Justice Leaguers away from the Green Lantern. The man can be so infuriating at times.

"They don't but there were circumstances that forced our hand." Diana told her.

"Tell us." Batman requested wanting to know more about him.

"Very well." Diana said as she began retelling the events that occurred 2 millennia ago. After all she was there when it happened as a child. "2000 years ago, there was a war between the Man's World and the Underworld. It spread into Themysicra and the Amazons were forced to join the resistance. The Demons were led by a powerful Hell God named Mundus. A malevolent tyrant. And by his side was his second in command."

"Sparda." Hawkgirl guessed. Diana nodded before continuing.

"But Sparda betrayed him. He sided with the humans and the Amazons. The notion of a demon siding with inferior beings, especially with Sparda's reputation was... inconviceable. When Mundus learned of Sparda's betrayal, his fury knew no limit. He hunted him down and demanded a brutal punishment. Endless suffering and pain. Despite being severly weakened from the torture he'd endured, Sparda escaped from his imprisonment and led an assault with an army comprised of humans and amazons alike. With considerable effort, he banished the demons back into the underworld at the tower of Temen-ni-gru. The Tower of Blood. The Amazons honored Sparda's heroic deeds with a statue of him near the palace on Themysicra."

The other League members took a moment to digest the story that was told by Wonder Woman. "Is it possible that this Sparda is still around?" Hawkgirl inquired.

Diana shrugged not having a clue. Since her appearance in Man's world, she had been trying to find the Dark Knight through the history books but it proved to be more difficult than she'd anticipated. "I don't know. I was a mere child when the war was over and he vanished from the public eye. I didn't exactly ask my mother for specific details about his whereabouts. But I do recall that Sparda wielded three swords. The Rebellion, Force Edge and the Yamato. The Yamato was the one that used to separate the Underworld from Man's world and banished Mundus."

"It's a start." Batman said as he began typing furiously on the keyboard searching for any historical artifacts that have those three particular names.

"Don't bother, Bats." They turned around to see the Flash sipping on Diet Coke. "I know where they are and as luck would have it, i know the owners."

He pulled out a phone and made a quick call to someone that may be able to lend the Justice League a hand.

"Devil May Cry?" A bored voice said on the other line.

"Hey, Dante. It's Flash. Central City. 3 years ago." Flash greeted jovially.

A pause as the man who answered the call, Dante tried to recall. "Ah yeah. I remember. Were you the guy in red pyjamas that nearly became A demon's chew toy?"

Flash's cheeks turned scarlet at the recollection. He'd just started out as a superhero, he was kinda green. Sue him.

"Yeah, that's me." He cleared his throat trying to focus on the business. "Listen, Remember you told me to call you whenever there's job of weird for ya? I think I got one."

Minutes before the Call

Redgrave City, Massachusetts.

Another day, another boring afternoon in Redgrave City. But it wasn't something Dante, one half of the Sons of Sparda (Dante: The Legendary Devil Hunter) wasn't used to as he sat on a chair of his office inside his home reading a magazine. Since the Qlipoth was cut off from the root and he and Vergil had mended their fences, there wasn't much activity in the demon circles aside from a few appearances around the states. Lady was in New York handling a ghost case while Nero was in Detroit helping out a heroine diva called Vixen or something with a Hellhound demon. Vergil opted to stay in Hell to clean more of his mess but he promised Dante he'll return to the surface to see who's better.

"Still reading porn magazines, Dante?" Sam Morrison, J.D's nephew (Sam Morrison: The Grunt broker) who was a former Marine asked the veteran demon hunter, not surprised by the sight as he stepped into his office. Sam stepped in to handle the books sometime after Dante had remained in Hell with Vergil for some long overdue brotherly love.

"Sammy! What a pleasant surprise." Dante greeted, putting the magazine away. "Where's your uncle at?"

"In the hospital for a check up." Sam told him grimly. "The arthritis in his hands is getting worse. He's been experiencing difficulty by holding onto things, specially when he's tired." Dante frowned. He'd heard about J.D being diagnosed with it sometime ago when his hands were beginning to falter.

"Oh. Sorry to hear that. Is there anything they can do for him?"

"There's no cure for getting old, Dante." Sam replied heading to the fridge and took a bottle of water from it. "Not all of us are blessed with superpowers like you and your family."

It made Dante think about his own mortality. Sure that he's not the guy that would die easily. Hell, he's been stabbed multiple times and still came on top. But he's feeling it lately. The wear on his body. He'd never thought he would say this but he's getting too old for this. He thought about a conversation he had with his brother that related to the issue.

"All things must come to an end, Dante. Including us."

"Maybe. And If that day comes, I'll be putting a shit eating grin on my face and laugh at Death's door."

"Hey, you ever considered joining the Justice League by the way?" Sam suggested playfully snapping the white haired Half demon out of his musing. "I hear they have a spot opening."

Dante snorted. It wasn't the first time it was brought up. Honestly, he's never been the one to be called a Superhero if he's honest with himself. His gambling debt is a prime example of that. But he appreciates those who are, though he wouldn't say it out loud. "And wear spandex preaching to kids about taking your vitamins and say your prayers? No thanks. Although I might reconsider because there are some hot chicks there."

"Suit yourself." Sam replied, "But even you have to admit, there are benefits in being on a team. You don't have to do solo all the time."

Then the former Iraq War Veteran thought about something."Hey, don't you know one? Ya know, back in Central City few years back."

Dante chuckled, remembering the man they call Flash in Central City. "Sure. Speedy Gonzalez in red pyjamas with corny jokes that almost became a chowderhead? I remember. And then he offered me pizza as an form of apology. I can never say no to that."

As they were continuing to discuss the superheroes in General, Dante's cellphone buzzed in his jack pocket. Dante lazily went to get it. "Devil May Cry?" He said, bored.

"Hey, Dante? It's The Flash. Central City. Three years ago."

Dante smirked. Speak of the devil. "Ah, yeah. I remember. Were you the guy in red Pajamas that nearly became a demon's chew toy?"

"Yeah. That's me." Flash stuttered. "Listen, remember when you told me to call you whenever there's a job of weird for ya? I think I got one."

Dante was happy to hear it as he leaned back in his chair. "Alright, Flash. I'm all ears."

Trish (Trish: The Feminine Devil) peeked out of her room upstairs overhearing some of the phone conversation. "Am I getting old or did I hear you say Flash, Dante?"

XXXX

"Wait? You and Flash hooked up?!" Dante asked the blonde Demon incredulously as they had geared up with some of their weapons in the storage and ready to leave to meet up with a colleague of Flash's outside of their home office to take them up to their space station after he was briefed about potential Devil Arms being sold out of Fortuna. Apparently Trish and Flash had some history together much to his chagrin.

"Yep. In Milano during a job." Trish told him. "A Sugran was sighted by J.D's contact in Italy."

"Sugran, huh? Were they the ones that usually kill young attractive gigolos?" Dante recalled.

"Yep. Particularly high school and college frat boys."

Dante couldn't believe this! His luck with the ladies is worse than he thought. Can't he just get some action for once? "Unbelievable."

Then he decided to tease her about Flash's little general. "Did he ejaclutate too fast for ya?" He teased Mundus's former servant.

Trish wasn't amused by the sexual innuendo. "Very Funny, Dante." Though she wouldn't say that out loud, Flash was kinda sweet and gentle.

"What? I'm just saying." Dante said, looking up to see a futuristic looking Space craft descending down from the sky and landed on the ground. "That's our ride. Ever been to space, Trish? Cause I'm thinking it's gonna be a bumpy ride."

Themysicra

It was a beautiful morning on the island of Themysicra, The Home of the Amazons. Birds were chirping, the amazonian residents were going on about their daily chores. All except one.

The Queen Hipployta was looking out to the ocean from her palace wondering briefly about her daughter. Was she wrong to banish her only child? Looking back, she realized now that Diana was in a difficult position and if she was in her shoes, she'd probably would've made the same decision. But still the rules had to be abide by and Diana was no exception. Though she'd be lying to herself if she didn't truly miss her daughter, longing to tell her that she could come back home with each passing day.

"Was there any other way you could've done, Diana?" Hipployta wondered. "Did that mad man Faust really left you with no other choice?"

She didn't ponder on the question any longer as she found herself being smothered by a chlorophyl dipped tissue. She tried to fight out of the predicament before succumbing to the effects of it, passing out on the floor of her room and was scooped up by her attacker as the intruder left undetected.
