I don't own Danny Phantom or Grossology. They are owned by their respective companies. Joe Gutchern is an original character.
Ty and Abby had woken up the next and got ready for school. While there was a new guy causing trouble with Sloppy Joe, the teens had to maintain their academics and social life, despite their limited number of friends.
Not that they were complaining.
The two had walked into school to witness almost everyone wearing a black shirt with a white P in a D logo, similar to the one Danny Phantom sported.
"I don't know what we missed, but I have a feeling Paige is responsible," Abby groaned.
She saw said girl up ahead, also wearing a T-shirt with the DP logo on it. Complimenting how it goes with her style, which was a stark contrast to the pink and light colors she'd normally wear.
"I am serious, this Danny Phantom guy is like, totally awesome," Paige said, stretching the torso of her dish we shirt, emphasizing the logo. "It's so cool to have another hero in this city. Especially one who doesn't work with gross things."
"And once again, Paige makes things about herself," Abby groaned.
The blonde-haired popular girl caught wind and turn to see the siblings.
"You'd think you of all people would appreciate a new hero in town since he's working with the grossologists," the girl snarked as her posse nodded their heads.
"Oh... she appreciates it alright," Ty said with a smirk.
Abby sent her brother a be quiet glare. It was not as effective since she had a small blush on her face.
"Whatever, you two are weirdos. What do you guys know anyway?" Paige said with her hands on her hips.
Ty and Abby both rolled their eyes and walked away.
They soon arrived at their lockers and saw someone nearby that made Ty smile. It is Naomi, the girl he likes.
"Hi guys," Naomi said nicely.
"Hi Naomi," Ty said, blushing.
His sister saw this and rolled her eyes with a chuckle. For a little fun and payback, the sister gave her brother a good push towards the girl.
Ty and Naomi "bumped" into each other with matching blushes.
Ty would remember this as he gave his sister a glare. Naomi, on the other hand, took the time to look at the boy. Time together was sometimes rare, and he seemed so mysterious to her. It mainly from his job, but she found the quality to be attractive.
"So..." the stuttering boy tried to speak but knew of no topics. His head was in the clouds.
"I take it you guys heard about the new hero?
"What do you think about this Phantom guy, Naomi?" Ty asked cautiously. Working with the guy was one thing, but the boy could not stand the idea of his crush liking the hero.
How could he compete?
"I don't really see what the fuss is about," Naomi commented before walking up to Ty.
Ty Archer's face flushed a blushing red at the girl's gesture. Though there was a spark between them, the two could never go steady. What with the boy and his sister defending the city from gross villains.
No one had the stomach to take them on save for the siblings.
But that did not mean that Naomi never gave signals.
"Besides, I got my hero right here," the girl with glasses said. She placed her hand on Ty's shoulder, making him melt immediately. Abby rolled her eyes at her brother's actions.
The irony of how he was teasing his sister, only to have no defense against the girl he likes. It would have been laughable had an unwanted guest not arrived.
"Well well well," came a voice from the shadows, commanding attention. It was Roger, eyed known as Pink-Eye. With a puss-dripping right eye, the boy gazed at the archer siblings. "It seems we have a new hero in town. I wonder if certain grossologists know anything about him."
"I certainly hope so," Ty said innocently. "It'd be pretty cool for a team-up. Next thing you know, you'll see Kim Possible helping Ladybug and Chat Noir."
"Yeah. Or maybe you two know something," Pink Eye said as he gave a wicked grin. His dripping eye stared at the Archer siblings, not that did anything to faze anyone. Though it did gross-out Naomi a bit.
But the brother and sister were not the only ones bothered.
"Leave them alone, Pink-Eye," Naomi said, stepping forward. "They don't know what you're talking about."
While the girl's actions were righteous, it did nothing to deter the spying from prying forward.
"My dear, illusioned little Naomi," Pink Eye said with a condescending tone as he walked over. He would have been intimidating had Ty, not the boy near his crush, stepped in front this time. Only with a stern face.
"Back off, Roger!" Ty declared boldly.
But the slinking gross eyed boy did not back off.
"It seems I struck a nerve," Pink Eye said, his smirk had not been wiped off. "I wonder when I'll hit the gross one." Roger chuckled as he left. "It's only a matter of time."
Roger left finally. Abby shook her head, wanting nothing to do with the boy. He already invaded the sibling's space regularly, and that included what they didn't know.
"Thanks, Ty," Naomi smiled at the boy, making him blush with a goofy grin.
The bell rang, announcing the swift arrival of the next period. Students quickly closed and secured their lockers as they scattered for class, including the grossologists.
"Bye, Ty," Naomi waved as she walked away.
"Bye...Naomi," ty said with his goofy grin. The boy had it bad enough so that the bell did not register in his mind. all he could think about was his crush.
Holding her brother by the collar, Abby dragged the boy to their next class. Crime may not strike, but a detention slip could if they were late.
"Come on, lover boy," the sister said. "We got class to do."
From the corner of the hallway, Roger stood by, watching the duo leave. Despite past adventures, the boy knew of their jobs and lurked in the shadows, waiting for a slip of the tongue. Indicating anything that would improve him right in his assumptions.
"One of these days," the boy muttered before heading to class.
The Ringworm Museum of Natural Science was open with a new exhibit as people came in to see the world's plagues. From grotesque to disgusting, all forms of illnesses were on display as kids laughed and parents almost barfed.
While the adults were happy about the new displays, they had trouble with something else.
"Phewwwe! What the heck is that smell!?" cried one man as more people commented.
"It's like a cow pie married Limburger cheese, and then settles with their kids at the dump."
More people sniffed the air, with some chokes, as the smell intensified. Pretty soon, no one could handle it, not even the children who thought it was farts. As people started to gag, a large, greasy, filthy man walked in with a smile as he towered over most folks.
"Hey there, folks," Sloppy Joe greeted everyone with a goofy wave. "Don't mind us. We're here for some gross fun."
The people screamed as they ran towards an exit, only for Joe Gutchern to phase through the ground. With a guttural roar, the citizens almost needed a change of pants from all the grossness and danger. Everyone ran to the other exit as the ghostly shout continued for a good minute.
With the crowd scared beyond stiff, the ghost was full of glee.
"That was fun," Gutchern said with a smile. "I never got to haunted anyone before."
It was not long before their "leader" joined in on the fun.
Lance Boil laughed as he and the two Joe's caused terror and stomach movement. Sloppy Joe helped himself to dishing out the sweaty slime from his armpits on anyone in their path. Gutchern, on the other hand, was partially distracted by the exhibits themselves. Though that didn't stop the screams of terror.
"Haven't been to the museum in a while, huh?" Sloppy said to the ghost.
"It's...been a while, yes," Gutchern said slowly. He wasn't sure when the last time was.
Soon the area was empty save for the trio of villains and their scheme. Gutchern watched as Lance, with his tiny legs, walked to an exhibit behind a glass case. The ghost did not know what to make of the tiny man. While his friend joe said he sometimes had something fun to do, Boil's leadership skills lacked a lot.
He mainly yelled at the two not to mess this up, even though the Joes did all the heavy lifting, so to speak.
"Here it is!" Lance yelled triumphantly. "Just the thing I need to really puss things up!" The short man turned to the Joes. "You two make sure no one bothers me while I take care of things."
The filthy duo shrugged as they walked away while the small man brought out a device.
"Now then...come to daddy."
Smashing the glass, the alarms went off, signaling his actions. The cops rushed over, but the combined stench of the Joe's held them off.
The Detective stepped out of his car as he took note of his men's stomachs.
All over the ground.
"Right, we better wait for backup," he said casually, knowing they couldn't handle things.
Gagcom went off as Lab Rat alerted the teens who got ready as they suited up and met at the museum.
Ty and Abby arrived on the GRS-1 as Phantom landed beside them. Getting out, the grossologists walked to their good friend, the Detective.
"What's going on?" Abby said with cannon ready.
"Seems Lance Boil found our Joes and recruited them for a heist," the large man said, showing the teens footage from his phone. "Seems he's interested in the plagues."
The grossologists nodded, and soon they and the ghost boy headed to the museum. They had to be careful. Lab Rat still wasn't finished with the Fenton equipment brought. That left the ghostly hero to deal with Gutchern, a fight he was never going to look forward to.
But he had one question in mind.
"So, who's Lance Boil?" Danny asked as they walked through the door.
"A former grossologist who turned evil when we first were recruited," Ty said with his sister following.
"Since then, the guys been living a life of crime ranging from giving all the cops diarrhea to reviving a volcano with puss," Abby added.
"Wow," was all the ghost boy could say as he held his gag reflex. It was something to hear about a man who gave officers the runs, but the puss volcano seemed a bit much. It then occurred how gross this guy could get. Since apparently, he was in the same group as his new friends.
One thing was certain, things were getting too gross for the ghost boy.
"So, where do we start?" Danny asked.
"It starts with a nice dose of this!" came the voice of Sloppy Joe as he flung goop from his pits before belching loudly with his morning breath. \the sound shattered some glass as the smell spread.
Fortunately, our heroes dodged before anything hit them. Ty and Abby blasted away with goop, neutralizing pit jam before ti hit anything. The museum was still home to many artifacts., Preservation was a key objective as well. Or the Department of grossology gets the bill.
"Sloppy Joe," Abby said sternly with her goop cannon aimed.
The chubby, unhygienic man laughed as his smell reached the ghost boy.
"Wow," you weren't kidding about his stench," Danny remarked as he waved at his nose. "He's much worse than the ghost."
As if his luck had run out, Danny was pilled on by a hill of Gutchern's ecto-filth. Memories of what made the unique signature had the boy on edge as he phased out of the pile and whatever garbage was left on him. He looked at the ghost with a glowing glare and charged firsts.
"Kinda refreshing if you ask me," Gutchern said with a smile.
"Awww, thanks, Joe," Sloppy said.
The heroes ignored the crooks and went back to business. Ty pointed to the ghost unhygienic man as he looked at his sister and the ghost boy. Both ready for combat like they were born for it.
"You two handle the Joes!" Ty commanded. "I'll get Boil!"
"On it," Abby replied with a serious face.
Danny nodded as he disappeared, much to Sloppy Joe's surprise.
"Hey, can you do that?" Sloppy said to Gutchern. But he received no answer as an invisible fist slammed his face. The ghostly Joe would have helped, but a goop shot distracted him. While it meant nothing to him, the ghost clearly was not happy with the presence of the intruders. He got especially foul as Danny fired an ectoblast right into his stomach, leaving Abby to jump at Sloppy Joe.
This gave Ty all the time he needed to run into the plague exhibit. There he found Lance staring at a certain exhibit.
"There we go, come to papa!" Lance cried out.
As the villain melted the glass with his gastric acid gun and picked up a sample, he was unaware of the third party sneaking up behind him. All the short man heard the sound of his own voice humming a tune about a gross plan.
"Drop it, Boil!" Ty commanded with his cannon aimed.
The tiny criminal gently raised his hand before slowly turning around. He had no expression of surprise or anger but arrogance.
"Well, well, if it isn't the younger nerdling."
"Keep your hands right where I can see them, Boil!" Ty said, but his words had no effect on his target.
"I take it you've met Joe's new friend?" Lance snickered as Gutchern phased from the ground and behind the boy.
The ghost had just reached his arms out to grab him before an ectoplasm landed on the back of his head. All it did was blow it up, only for the ghost to grow it back with anger.
Lance Boil was shocked when he saw Danny appear with a glowing hand.
"And I'd like to introduce you to my friend, Danny Phantom," Ty replied with a smirk.
"Danny...Phantom?" Boil said slowly before resuming normal speed. "Since when do you two have back up?"
"He is new. Just flew in for our new ghost buddy," Ty said before blasting.
While small, Boil jumped out of the way as he ran with his tiny legs. A feat that would have been hilarious if it weren't for the fact he was a criminal mastermind of grossness.
However, the body of Sloppy Joe flying over him soon flopped in his way as the filthy man got up. A blast of goo stuck him to the ground momentarily as he sweated himself out.
From the shadows, Abby appeared with her goop cannon aimed.
"And he hates gross bad guys as much as we so," Abby added.
"She is telling the truth," Danny said as he got ready to fight, but noticed the man's features. "Ok, I gotta ask. Why does he look like a giant zit with a body?"
"My fault," Ty said with a raised hand. "I ended up tinkering with a shrink ray of his, and it backfired when he revealed his intentions."
"But how-" Danny paused, unsure on how to ask for the man's weird appearance. Though given his past couple of days, it was given that it would be gross.
"We'll explain later, right now, let's pop this boil," Abby said, angling her cannon.
"Alright," Danny said ad he sent a blast to Boil.
To the ghost boy's surprise, the man was somewhat nimble and jumped out of the way. He would have chased after him, but a horrible stench got in the way. And that was before Gutchern tackled him in a drippy, slimy, gooey mess.
"Did you forget about me?" Gutchern asked menacingly.
"Hard to say with that smell," Danny gagged.
The grossologist tried to help, but Sloppy joe slid in with his sweat like a penguin as he knocked them over.
"You need to make sure you take out all the trash before you leave it out," the filthy criminal laughed.
The teens got ready to fight, only for the roof to explode, revealing a blimp the shape of a boil. It was obvious it belonged to Lance. Within seconds, a ladder came down with the tiny mastermind guffawing as he waved.
"Nice try, losers! But it looks like you'll have to wait for my next move. See ya!" Lance cries out as he flies away via puss balloon. Gutchern grabbed Sloppy as they flew into the blimp.
Ty, thinking fast, activates the jet pack in his backpack, soaring off. Danny follows soon but noticed the girl grossologist standing below.
"Aren't you coming? "Danny asked.
"No jetpack," Abby groaned. While being grossologist had them equipped with technology to fight gross villains, for some reason, there was only one jet pack. Which was always with Ty. The sister had to complain about that for a while before another was in order. Though it still wasn't ready for her yet.
Grumbling in her mind, the girl didn't notice the ghost boy landing until he had picked her up, bridal style.
"W-w-what are you doing!?"Abby asked with a massive blush.
"Sorry, but it's the best way that we can all get to the bad guys," the ghost boy said, flying up as Abby held on tightly. "You alright?"
The older sister didn't say anything but gave a squeaky mmm-hmm as she looked away.
The ghost boy soon took off, Carrying a blushing Abby as they followed Ty to chase the pimple blimp. All the while, his passenger sent a glance to the white-haired boy.
The trio was gaining speed, closing the distance at a normal rate. While decorative to the small man's aesthetics, it was still a balloon that could travel at a certain speed not appropriate for a chase.
But the former grossologist was prepared as he aimed his cannons at the teens.
"Have a taste of my puss missiles!" Lance said, pressing a button.
Instantly, an array of missiles launched and homed in on the closest target.
"Ty!" Abby cried out as she reached out, struggling in the ghost boy's arms. All Danny could do was fly faster as he did his best firing with his eye beams.
Fueled by fear, the boy did his best to maneuver around, but the second wave that came clipped a wing and destabilized the balance. The boy was crashing as another missile hit dead-on, exploding in the process.
"Ty!" both Danny and Abby cried out, flying even faster.
Luckily, the boy thought fast and reattached his jet pack, buying him time as more missiles came. Danny's beams made a storm of puss as he and Abby, still in his arms with one hand out, chased after him. It was close as the younger brother fell from such heights. He knew if nothing caught him, he'd be a goner. How would Abby explain this to their parents? Though one other thought came to mind that he just could not get out of his head.
But that was for later as Ty felt his Sister and Danny grab hold of his as the ghost boy flew up as stable as he could. But the puss was getting to him, both phasing through and the smell flooding his nose.
With a soft thud, the trio crashed and tumbled as they got up to noticed the surroundings. The grossologists noticed their ghostly friend discombobulated and had to help him up.
"What happened?" Danny asked, almost confused.
"The bad guys got away," Ty groaned as he looked at his jetpack that crashed on the ground. What was left of it.
The trio watched as the pus balloon got away at a faster than normal pace. The ghost boy felt the sting of defeat as he had been outwitted by a large pimple man.
The gagcoms sound off as Lab Rat is online.
"Guys, glad to see you're alright!" the scientist said with glee, noting his friend's disgruntled appearances. "You should get back here for a deep cleaning and then deep briefing. I found something on our new ghost."
The teens looked to the villains escaping. They would be back, and the heroes would wait. But right now, they needed to rest. The day was not over yet, and neither was Boil's scheme.
Looks like Boil is in the game now, and the Joes are now on the move with a goal in mind. What's next for our heroes as they wait for Lance Boil to pop his freaky head with the next phase? Find out in the next chapter.
