I don't own Danny Phantom or Grossology. They are owned by their respective companies. Though Joe Gutchern is an original character.

Joe Gutchern flew in a random pattern as he went from writhing to thrashing about in pain. He screamed and shouted at a level he never went to before or after his death and tore out parts of his filth in an attempt to soothe his pain. But it only grew.

It was as if his entire being was pulled apart. Molecule by molecule, and the pain was unbearable.

And he wasn't the only one to notice.

Danny, Ty, and Abby flew as fast as they could. As they passed the streets, they could see more people infected with the virus. Lab Rat followed in his blimp, but the chemical mixture he worked up could barely help.

The infection was worse now. At first, it created a layer of filth out of every by-product the human body could produce. Now, the layers were piling on. Citizens panicked as some of the infected barely had enough energy to move. The added thickness was weighing down harder.

Those untouched began quarantining themselves with whoever they thought clean. With all the ruckus, looters could be seen taking gloves, masks, sanitizer, wipes, and anything else to keep them clean. It was taking germaphobia to a whole new level as everyone hoarded and stole what they could find.

"This is like those apocalypse movies," Ty commented from the air.

"And it's gonna be one if we don't find a way to stop it," Abby said as she pulled out her gagcom. "Lab Rat, please tell me you're working on something fast."

The gagologist's face appeared as he was working furiously in the background of his balloon. Beakers and tubes full of detergents and chemicals experimented with a sample Lab Rat picked up. Assisting him was Hermes.

"I'm sorry, guys, but making an antidote takes time. You're gonna have to wait," Lab Rat said.

"Isn't there anything we can do!?" Danny asked.

"Well...there may be one way," Lab Rat said as he pulled up something on the monitor. "according to Dr. Egon Spengler, if the ghost's extradimensional connection is severed from its dermabaterial substance, anyone afflicted with be cured. But you have to hurry."

Danny and Abby blinked as they tried to make sense of that.

"He means we have to catch the ghost and send it back. Then everyone will be alright," Ty explained.

"Then we better hurry and grab our ghostly Joe," Abby said as she looked to the horizon where the glow was. "And we definitely know where to look."

As the teens arrived, they saw the entire police force surrounding the area. The Detective was in the back talking on the radio, hollering for backup, when he saw the trio land, a bit worse for the wear. And not in the smelly kind.

"Detective!" Ty cried as he ran over. Danny and Abby followed close.

"You kids alright?" the large man asked, noting some partial exhaustion.

"We're fine. Just a little winded," Abby said, leaning a bit on the ghost boy.

"We had a run-in with Lance Boil," Ty explained. The Detective nodded as they glanced at the destruction.

Danny hadn't said a word. He took a few steps forward, eyeing the broken-down building. It was pulsating with ghostly energy, a fact confirmed as a blue wisp came from Danny's mouth.

Ty, Abby, and the Detective were a bit startled and took a step back.

"Uhhh...Danny?" Abby said, taking two steps forward. "You ok?"

I think...I think Gutchern's in there," Danny said, pointing. "And maybe he might have something to do with it."

Ty walked up with a scanning claw on hand. While he couldn't get close enough for a physical sample, the power emitting from the area gave enough data for a complete comprehensive analysis.

"He's right," Ty said, looking at the readings. "Gutchern is in there. And it looks like he's...trying to do...something..."

"Well, that was informative," Abby snarked.

"No, seriously! Somethings up!" Ty held the reading to Abby. "It's like his energy is expanding and shrinking in every direction."

The monitor displayed how the ghost's ectoplasmic energy spiked in different directions like a compass with multiple needles spinning. It was hard to tell if Gutchern was even in control of himself. Danny grabbed the gagcom as he gave the image some thought.

"That must be the virus," Danny commented. "Whatever Boil used to make these gross zombies—"

"—I'd called them grombies."

"—he probably used something from Gutchern." Danny finished, giving Ty a slight glare.

"The ghost-ecto-acne-puss stuff boil used!" Abby cried out.

"He must've used Joe in the mixture," Ty said, piecing the puzzle together.

"Uh...I'm no scientist, but I'm pretty sure Boil did not know what he was doing with ectoplasm," Danny added his two cents. "I think we'll need to capture Gutchern for an antidote."

"Definitely." Ty glanced at his readings. "If we can contain our ghostly Joe, the Lab Rat can analyze him for a cure. The only question is how."

"I got that covered," Danny answered. "I brought just the thing for capturing ghosts."

"Then we'll need to act fast." Abby glanced at the building. "Things are getting out of hand."

"Given what's happening now, that's an understatement." The Detective glanced at the buildings. The scenery was starting to look like an old movie he saw as a kid. "If this keeps up, the whole city will have to be quarantined!"

Just then, Ty's readings went haywire. The boy looked up to see the energy encompassing the building increasing.

"Hey, look! The glow is growing!"

"And that's not all that's growing!" Abby said, pointing behind the team. Looking back, some of the filthy trails from the grombies started expanding like forestry. Now it was not just people but the environment that was being contaminated. This created further panic as everyone scrambled to lock themselves away as safely as possible.

Ty and Abby aimed their goop cannons, cleansing any contamination of the virus. It did the trick as the buildings stayed clean. For how long was the big question, though.

And that wasn't the only problem as Sloppy Joe came crashing from the building.

"Joe! Buddy!" Sloppy Joe cried out as he got up and began running towards the building. Abby tried to warn him but was ignored as the blast sent Joe flying backwards again. Each attempt threw him further away until he was flat on his back, looking up at Danny and the grossologists.

The grossologists and Danny aimed at the messy man, who got up and kept trying to bypass the energy with gross, brute force.

Wanting answers, Abby stepped in his path.

"Alright, Joe, what's the idea!" Abby said, but to her surprise, Sloppy Joe ran up and shook her by the shoulders.

"Grossologists, you help me! My buddy, Joe, is screaming in pain!" Sloppy screamed.

Danny phased Abby out of the man's grip as Ty crept closer. Now was not a good time for any more unpredictables.

"What are you talking about? Isn't this your doing?" Ty asked.

Sloppy Joe glanced at the building. He sighed before turning back. With a shake of his head, the man pointed to the building or what remained of it. "We didn't do this on purpose. Joe just starting screaming, and before I knew it, kablooie! Everything goes up in stinky disgusting slop!" Joe giggled at the last few words. Worried or not, the man loved his messes. "Please help my friend," he pleaded.

"Don't worry, Joe. We'll take him somewhere safe," Danny said, reaching for behind his back.

A scream was heard as Gutchern rocketed out of the debris. As the ghost zoomed around the scene, police frantically fired or found cover. Danny put up a shield as Ty and Abby did their best to aim.

The grosslologists fired their goop cannons. They basically scrubbed some of the layers of filth off while simultaneously bringing more pain to the ghost. As they kept firing, Sloppy Joe slid on his body sweat, knocking them.

"You leave my buddy alone!" Sloppy Joe yelled. He drove into Ty and Abby, zooming past them. The two jumped in time as they resumed their barrage. Using his weight, Joe ducked and dodged as he seemed to slide forever. His aim was Danny, who brought out a soup thermos.

"Alright, Joe, time to send you back to the Ghost Zone but not before Lab Rat takes a look at you!" Danny aimed and charged the device.

"Oh no, you don't!" Sloppy Joe yelled as he grabbed the thermos out of the boy's hands.

"The thermos!"

Sloppy stopped as he held the device up. "You think you can take my friend away?" He snorted and hacked as he built up a lot of phlegm. Spitting up a corrosive Louie, the man dissolved the thermos and any means of capturing Gutchern.

Danny retaliated with a blast as he looked at the puddle that used to be the only ghost capturing device he brought.

"Oh no," he said, almost patenting to pick up the snotty mess.

"I take it that was the containment device?" Ty asked.

"Yeah, and the only one I had."

Ty went to work using the scanning claw to check for any residual readings. Even if the device was melted, there could still be something to learn.

Abby ran over as she watched the boys. They were dejected. Helping them up, she decided they needed a kick in pants to get going.

"Come on, we got a ghost to catch

"Isn't there anything else we can do!?" Danny exclaimed. "The best I could do is put a ghost shield around him, but I don't know how long I can take that smell!"

Lab Rat pinged on the gagcom as the girl opened it up. The gagologist appeared on the screen.

"I did some checking up on Dr. Spengler's research. There may be another way. I got a few ideas, but we gotta hurry."

Gutchern screamed as he trashed about. He flew into the air, somehow concluding he could outrun this predicament. But the pain intensified at the higher altitudes. It was like his brain was screeching everywhere while juggling flaming chainsaws through his body. His filth screamed and scrambled in any direction as his body tried to make sense of things.

The ghost wanted it to stop but didn't know how or the cause.

All his yelling, and Gutchern didn't see Danny coming at him from below. The ghost boy grabbed him by his ghostly tail, gagging at how every piece of snot, bile, vomit, and more could be felt through his gloves before dragging him down.

Holding his reflex, the ghost boy slammed his filthy foe into the ground. A large, spread-out stain painted the streets as Gutchern collected himself.

As the ghost went closer to the city, he slowed down. He seemed to calm down, looking at his surroundings.

"The pain...it's going away," Gutchern said, noticing he could tolerate the stinging, burning sensation.

The ghost turned to see Joe, slowly walking over with his hands up.

"Joe? buddy? You alright?" Sloppy asked, inching towards the gross ghost.

Gutchern gave a creepy, slimy smile as he nodded his head. "Yeah...I feel fine, but also..."

The cries of groans could be heard as the sight of grombies greeted the two. Wailing and moaning, the crowd lurked over, reaching out for anything in the streets, be it people or objects. Their touch became more infectious as the layers of ectoplasmic filth spread with each step, leaving behind an almost alien-like illness web. It was like something out of a sci-go movie.

Gutchern studied the grombies and felt a sense of familiarity with them. Reaching out, the people walked towards him.

But before he could do anything, Danny and the grossologists showed up.

"You're not going anywhere!" Danny cried out, blasting Sloppy Joe away.

Ty and Abby added their volley of ectoplasmic-goop to the mix as the trio fired, pinning and tunneling Gutchern into position. Danny walked closer and closer, doing everything he could to ignore the smell and hold his stomach.

But he had no luck when the gross ghost vomited the contents of his stomach into the ghost boy.

Danny took a moment to phase the disgustingness off, but it gave Gutchern enough time as he fled at high speed. He released piles of his body as they scattershot surrounding civilians unlucky enough to be caught in the crossfire before making his escape.

Danny gave chase, the boy flew headfirst into Sloppy Joe and his greasy armpits. Despite phasing through the man, he could still feel the grease and slime the man built up.

"Ok, if people weren't in danger, I'd be hurling till I'm dead," Danny snarked. He turned with a charged beam but saw the other Joe had slid away after his ghostly friend.

"You alright?" Abby asked, walking over to help the boy up.

The two looked in the direction of the Joes and the growing panic.

"This does not bode well," Danny said.

And the mess jumps around before assimilating with the fan. It's gonna take a while before things get back to normal, especially with Sloppy Joe protecting Joe Gutchern. Good thing Danny, Ty, and Abby aren't giving up. Hope you enjoyed and if you like, or have an opinion, leave a review. Have a good day.

Reviews:

RonaldM40186967: Honestly, I have to say Basso Profondo. That burping contest he had was the only thing to make me use my gag reflex in the whole series.

Ironchef13(Guest): You think so? It seems like the usual amount of gross for me. Then again, I'm going by Grossology's standards.

guilhermefinamori: At first, it was just going to be a one-off piece, but I might continue this, especially given an aspect of the story that wasn't going to be tied up, among others. Maybe add more to the crossover. As for Danny x Abby, there isn't much of them here, but that's basically the idea. Though I'm thinking of adding another girl interested in Danny, like a romantic rival. But that's down the line.
