I don't own Danny Phantom or Grossology. They are owned by their respective companies. Though Joe Gutchern is an original character.
Danny, Ty, and Abby gazed at the ground. They saw the Joe's and the army of grombies surrounding them. A couple hundred infected citizens were there, with more coming. The surroundings were caked in the contagious ectoplasmic body fluids and garbage. It was like Joe Gutchern was becoming the city or worse.
"There's an army," Ty said with a grim tone. "But what are the grombies doing here?"
"I think I may have a theory on that." Lab Rat typed away on his computer. He brought up schematics and analysis of ectoplasm on screen. "From what I could study, ectoplasm is a substance that works like a hive mind in one body."
"Like ants or bees?" Abby added.
"Possibly. While I don't know how that's possible, or how it works, it seems that every drop of ectoplasm contains a signature brainwave, commanding and structuring our ghostly goop."
"And if Gutchern's brainwaves are in the virus..." Ty gulped loudly as he connected the dots.
"Please don't tell me our gross ghost has control over every infected citizen there is," Danny groaned with a somber tone.
Before anyone could answer, The Director chimes in onscreen. His face was the essence of skittishness and anxiety as he sat in a fetal position in his chair.
"Grossologists!" He flailed his arms, and his voice squeaked higher. "I'm hearing reports that people are turning into...gross! Icky! Zombies!" The man slammed on his desk. "You gotta get out there and stop this madness!" The Director looked like he was ready to suck his thumb like a frightened toddler.
"We're already at the scene, Director," Ty reported.
"And we're all ready to wipe this guy off the earth's crack!" Abby added, cocking her weapon.
Danny couldn't help but give a smirk at the redhead's joke. He stifled a laugh as he slammed two glowing fists. Ty joined in with an eager face. Despite the potential, the virus outbreak could bring, these teens were ready to stare down the worst.
"See that you do—" the Director tried to say before he upchucked whatever was left in his stomach while signing off.
"Alright, but you gotta do something about Gutchern." Lab Rat pressed a button as a circular, almost flat container popped out of the console. He handed it to Danny. It was rather large with a wired remote attached to it. "This is what I could manage between your equipment and ghostbuster blueprints I found on the web. It should contain Joe enough to cut off his connection with the world, curing eveyone."
"Then let's bust some ectoplasm," Abby said with a low voice. She cocked her goop cannon, showing she was ready.
"Like the attitude, but there's a catch...you gotta be two feet away."
"And make sure I'm not the one sucked in," Danny added. He handed the containment unit to Ty, who strapped it to his back.
"Not to mention it's the only one I made. So be careful."
As the grossologists grabbed hold of Danny, who flew out, everyone nodded, phasing the group through the walls and into the fray. Lab Rat gives them a small salute as Hermès gives a worrying wave.
"Come on, little buddy—" Lab Rat takes him to the controls. "—we got a city to save!"
Lab Rat immediately got busy working on a new way to further help out the heroes and cure the townsfolk. The Ghost Boy and Grossoloists were heading towards the army of grombies, with Danny taking on Gutchern himself while Ty and Abby kept the majority of grombies focused on them, as well as Sloppy Joe.
The trio landed as they eyed the army. From behind, Sloppy Joe wore his ghastly wide smile as Gutchern floated with a blank face. The grombies, rasping, stood still, awaiting an order.
"You know I can't remember most of my life," Gutchern started. "It's been a blank all the years—" he looks around the block, glancing at the tall buildings. "—even now...I barely recall anything. And I admit, it's painful."
Sloppy gave his friend a hand on the shoulder, comforting the slimy, foul ghost. Gutchern smiled as he continued.
"But making a friend and seeing this army has given me an idea. I can make new memories and make more friends. That Boil guy may not be Simone id call a friend, but he has given me the key to a whole new world."
"And it's gonna smell better than fresh gra age rolled around in sewage," Sloppy Joe added, guffawing loudly.
"Not if we can help it," Danny said as he, Ty, and Abby got into fighting stances.
"Bring it on!" The Joe's screamed. Sloppy Joe began running with the grombies as Gutchern gestured Danny to charge.
Danny phased into the ground past the army and flew up, throwing a punch as hard as he could into the ghost's chest. While it sank into Gutchern's bodily and used waste by-product layers, he didn't feel any of the grossness. With a grin under his mask, the boy thrust deeper and deeper until he hit a solid body, harming Joe.
Gutchern screamed as he felt pain, a sensation he could not recall. It starts at the point of contact and spreads quickly like a bolt of lightning.
"You don't like the new suit?" Danny charged his fist, exploding ectoplasmic energy in Gutchern's body. "I know I do."
Joe backed up, regenerating his body, yet still feeling a burn. He growled at the ghost boy as sludge formed, piling on his shoulders before being projected at the ghost boy.
The ghost boy quickly and slightly effortlessly dodged all the sludge projectiles with quick thinking and quicker maneuvering. Charging his fists against, he gave a flurry of punches, all of which penetrated the layer of filth and struck a solid body underneath.
The gross ghost wasn't having any of it. He was being outmatched and overpunched. Not liking either of them, phased past his grombies, hiding in the group.
Sloppy Joe saw that his ghostly friend was hiding and decided to give Gutchern a smelly helping hand. Mainly by helping the grombies, who kept Danny occupied with a brave of disgusting slop droppings being flung.
Sloppy Joe eyed the grossologists, who were currently busy fending off the horde us grombies to worry about him. So he backed up a few feet and ran forward, then jumped and slid on his greasy belly at full speed towards the brother and sister. Hoping to get the jump on him again.
"Ha! Ha! Ha! Here comes the Sloppy Joe express. Next stop, your smelly doom!" Sloppy Joe said with a big smile filled with wicked joy for what he had in store for the two. The grombies parted as the man can within two feet of his enemies.
Ty and Abby jumped out of the way, managing only to be nicked by the man. Sloppy Joe got up but kept his backside to them as he proceeded to give them a taste of his gas. With a loud fart, he expelled his pent-up gas.
While it would've given Ty and Abby's noses a run for their money, the new masks shielded them from the smell. And built-in stinkalizers analyzed the stench for an added bonus. Well...for Ty and Abby, who loved gross things, anyway.
"Hmmm...looks like someone's been going on the ten bean burritos with a side of burgers and fries diet," Abby quipped. She took aim and gooped Joe, eliminating the stains on his arm and shoulders.
Ty joined in, and within a few seconds, Sloppy Joe was now Clean Joe. Any smell or stain of friends was gone and filled with the stench of disinfectant. The man was no king green and manky but pink and squeaky clean.
"What my stench! Not again! You'll pay for that!" Clean Joe growled.
"Not this time, pinky!" Ty proclaimed with a grin. He and Abby went straight to work encasing the man in a cocoon of goop. As Sloppy came to, he struggled to get out but fell to his side and began rolling away from the fight. Any grombies that tried to stop him had they filthy cleaned off, unable to stop him.
"Help! Joe! Buddy!" Sloppy Joe yelled as he tumbled out of the scene.
"Joe!" Gutchern cried out. But his friend was gone as the gooped up thug slid out of sight. He gripped his hands before punching the ground, making a small crack. "You shouldn't have done that!" He said with an angry face.
The ghost hacked and snarked as he breathed in. More filth was committed from his mouth, spewing like bullets from a Gatling gun. He separated Ty and Abby, allowing his army to surround them better. With no one to watch their backs, the grossologists had to be careful. Clawing arms and piles of gunk flailed were aimed at the duo, and while Danny had his ghost powers, the slime suits weren't tested against the ecto-virus.
Ty had an advantage with his jet pack. In the air, the boy was safe from back attacks as he cleaned up the army. On the other hand, Abby had to rely on reflexes as she ducked and swerved, spraying in a clockwise manner. She kept a perimeter and managed on her own.
Despite their separation, the siblings kicked as much butt as Danny, who powered through any of the grombies. With none of the grossness affecting him, the ghost boy was free to strut his stuff.
Though he was still careful about not hurting the citizens.
More grombies came as they started to swarm the heroes. Inch by inch, the trio were backed up as the army now grew at an alarming rate as more joined. From a couple hundred to probably a thousand, moans, groans, and whines echoed in the streets.
"Any ideas?" Ty asked. He fired his weapon, but it clicked in emptiness. "Cuase I'm out."
Abby did the same as her weapon clicked. "Me too." She turned to Danny. "Any chance you could wail on them?"
Danny looked around. "Can't. There's too many, and they're still people,
"Not to mention, there's probably more in the buildings," Ty added.
Now vastly outnumbered, the teens readied themselves for the last stand. While it was unknown how far they could go, nobody was going down without a fight. Danny glowed his fists as Ty and Abby prepared for hand-to-hand combat.
The grombies lurched forward menacingly. The teens waited and waited with each agonizing second becoming louder with the groans.
But they had forgotten one thing, and that's was Lab Rat had been flying over with his blimp the whole time. A wave of anti-ecto cleaning products splashed the army as many fell down. Gutchern wasn't happy about that and proceeded to fire a concentration of vomit at the blimp. Only his anger grew too much and fired off an ectoplasmic beam, piercing the balloon as it came crashing down.
The remaining cleaning goop in the blimp spilled over more of the grombies. The stuff didn't completely destroy the layers of grime, sludge, and human waste products, but it was enough for the citizens to resist control. And that gave the teens enough time to collect themselves as Lab Rat and Hermes jumped out the blimp, throwing a pair of goop cannons to Ty and Abby.
"What took you?" Ty asked.
"I had to prepare some things," Lab Rat quipped, petting Hermes, who donned his own slime suit. "Not to mention prep Hermes with his own anti-ghost weaponry. "
With most of the army put of commission, the teens went to work, powering through the army to Gutchern. The gagologist had come prepared. He figured the blimp would last for a few seconds and prepped more goop cannons for everyone, even Danny. Pushing back the army, Danny phased through, grabbed, and threw Gutchern into an open area, where he was assaulted with the cleaning product.
It burned exponentially as the gross ghost flailed in pain. Danny walked over with the containment unit, ready to end things.
"Give it up, Gutchern! You may have an army, but the four of us outmatch you by a long shot!" Ty aimed his goop cannon. "Just surrender and things will go down easy."
Joseph backs away in anger. All sights are on him, and his army is proving to be useless. If only they were like me. He thought to himself. And that's when he grinned with a wicked thought. Pushing back the heroes with a wave of vile fluids in every direction, the ghost went to work gathering the tainted army into a collective before engulfing them in his body.
"If my army won't stop you, then they'll help me!" Gutchern cried out.
The grombies soon merged with Joe, his already disgusting form becoming hideous and horrendous. His body became centipedian with the citizens' arms and legs sprouting out in a spiraling formation. Their faces appeared on the torso, moaning and whining in pain.
Danny held in his stomach as Ty and Abby stared in fear. Ty inched closer to his sister, who protectively took a step forward. Lab Rat hugged Hermes, who gave a scared squeak.
The ghost boy's eyes glowed stronger, knowing the battle was far from over as he stared down at Joe Gutchern.
The gross ghost gave a malicious grin as he stretched his new body.
Yeah, this fight wasn't going to be over that quickly, but we are nearing the end. I'd say, at most, five more chapters. Though I'm just giving a guess at best. Anyway, time for Gutchern to show something new, and the heroes better hurry. Who knows what that form is doing to the citizens.
Special Thanks! to Jay The Average Fanboy for all his help!
Reviews:
RonaldM40196967: yeah, it does count as working out. Paulina would be seen as worse, mainly due to the fact she wouldn't want anything to do with them and probably insult them more. Paige honestly had some positive interactions with the two, though rarely. You'll have to see as I make more chapters and stories. Probably, but that can be opinion at most. He just got one. I'll have to recheck that death battle. In the end, nobody's perfect.
wiseguy2415: Thanks!
Jay The Average Fanboy: Good question, you'll see near the end. Though he mainly didn't compliment her hair because I forgot about it. The fic takes place after the second season of both series. I have some plans, but for now, two.
Andrew Kynder Adams: Thanks!
