Secrets of the Hidden

The returned to the Edge with Ava riding with Hybrid and Mitne Sventar was riding with Snotlout on Hookfang. Ava and Mitne Sventar was astounded by the base. Mitne Sventar asked "What is the stone fortress?"

Hybrid replied, "Its name is Dragon Ridge, and it contains an impressive device called the Archive which I am slowly decrypting it." Then whispers to Ava "I may need your help and I know my dad may know more about this, but I still don't trust him."

Ava nodded slightly and the group landed on the pad before the stables. Hybrid dismounted and offered Ava a hand to which she took. Mitne Sventar is still getting use to the fact that they will someday become mates but knows that time had stated this will happen. The two were toured around the Edge for a good portion of the day.

Hiccup then offered "How would you like to be Dragon Riders?"

Mitne Sventar asked "Is there another Skrill?"

Jupiter said, "Depends where you look."

Mitne Sventar nodded in response and Ava asked, "Could I just become a dragon and have Hybrid as my rider?"

Jupiter then replied, "I'll take Mitne Sventar so the love birds can be with each other."

Ava and Hybrid glanced away from each other embarrassed. While Jupiter chuckles and the other dragons gave weird looks. Hybrid said in Draconic "Don't look into it."

The rest of the riders were confused and Mitne Sventar was mischievously giggling from the confusion. Hybrid said, "Don't worry about it, that is an issue for another time."

Ava said, "I think we should be going." The two then left the group and headed to Dragon Ridge.

At Dragon Ridge, Hybrid got a small chest from his room and gestured for Ava to follow. When Ava entered the Archive room, she saw a massive telescope with what seemed to have a detachable piece on the small end. Hybrid then place the chest down and opened it to show books and papers full of notes.

"So, what is this?" Ava asked.

Hybrid replied, "This is decryptions of very important locations in a language I am trying to translate."

Ava asked as if she was an investigator "What do they mean?"

Hybrid explained "There is the Hidden Vault, the Hatchery, Thermo-plant, Forgery with the Mines and something else."

Ava looked at it and asks, "What do you know about it?"

Hybrid said, "The only word I got from the thing was Night Fury but that was it and there is two, but I don't know where they might be."

Ava said, "What if we head to the most known one and go from there."

Hybrid answered, "Then will head to the Thermo-plant due to it being more specific on its whereabouts."

"Let's get going tomorrow because it took ages to get here, and I would like to learn a bit more about combat." Ava said.

Hybrid smiled and said, "Pick a weapon."

Ava said, "Maybe something to do with magic."

Hybrid thought on it and said, "What about a staff or wand."

"A staff would be cool." Ava said.

Hybrid woke up feeling the warm breath come Ava's snout. Hybrid contemplated whether he should get up but decided against it as she look adorable in her sleep. Hybrid then fell deep into thought, but it was short lived.

"Morning Red." Ava said as she looked at Hybrid.

Hybrid huffed at that nickname as he said, "You know I don't like it."

Ava then comeback with "But you let me use it."

Hybrid then says "True, anyhow, we might want to head off before anyone else wakes up if we want to head alone."

Ava nods and the two shapeshifts just in case someone catches them. The duo reaches the stables and are met with both Hiccup and Toothless with gronckle iron armour on the ground. Hybrid walks up to Hiccup and Toothless.

"Mind if I ask what you are doing?" Hybrid asked with a smirk.

Someone then says, "What are you four doing here?" the group look to the source and see Astrid.

Ava said, "Me and Hybrid were going to explore a cool place."

Hybrid then says, "And I think Hiccup and Toothless were going to look for Viggo."

Toothless says pointing his claw at Hiccup "His idea not mine. Also, I'm not putting that Hel bound thing on."

Ava then said "You're going to need to put that on. If you want to avoid being taken down."

Hybrid offered "Here's a deal, you put that on and wear it for the day and I will make a better set of armour as well as make the food you like for a week."

Toothless then growls in annoyance and allows Hiccup to put it on and doesn't attempt to take it off. Hybrid smirks knowing that Toothless would do anything for Sushi Rolls.

Ava asked, "What food does Toothless like so much he'd do that."

Hybrid said, "Fresh Sushi Rolls with a freshly caught mackerel enriched with herbs, freshly harvested Seaweed from Dragon Ridge's enrichment Hydroponics and enriched creamy rice." Toothless was just drooling as he heard his favourite food being described. (AC. Did you know Toothless really like Mackerel according to the HTTYD Fandom? Because I didn't)

Hiccup said, "Can't believe you managed to get him hooked onto that." Hybrid just replied with a smirk.

Ava said, "Has Toothless tried caviar yet."

"That is for later." Hybrid said.

Astrid the asked "Need any help with exploring the 'cool place'."

Hybrid said "Nah, probably a bad idea for normal beings due to it not being so cool temperature wise from it having to deal with heat."

Astrid said "Well, at least Hiccup should have someone come with him to back him up." Glaring at the man in question.

Hiccup replied with bit infuriation "Fine." And had zero intent on bring someone.

Ava said "Well, we should really get going." Then shapeshifts into her Dragon form and it still giving an unnatural aurora to the group except Hybrid. When Hybrid mounted she then rose her wings and with a beat of her wings took off.

After a while of flying Hybrid was looking out and saw a massive amount of grey and black smoke. Ava felt uncomfortable about the daunting atmosphere of the place. Hybrid caressed her neck in a relaxing yet comforting way.

Hybrid said, "Unfortunately that has to be the place."

Ava whimpered but headed into and final landed on the grand structure and the gas there, Hybrid could tell contained hydrochloric acid vapor, carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide and more which would have been deadly to Ava had she not become a Goddess of Light.

Hybrid said, "We should head inside the structure." Ava nodded and shapeshifted.

The two made it to the airlock and were panting from the how difficult it was to breathe with the atmosphere. The airlock surprisingly still worked after being abandoned for possibly thousands of years.

Ava remarked "The landscape is horrifying it's just covered in smoke and lava."

"I know." Hybrid said consolingly and the said "We should head to the control room of the facility to probably find out what happened and possibly start the generators." To which Ava nodded.

After a while of search the two find the control there are a few skeletons of a draconic humanoids. Hybrid flipped a circuit breaker and lights began to flicker to life. The screens in the control room started back up.

Ava looked in awe as the power flooded the room for the first time in what must have been forever. Hybrid looked through the records showing statistics and an event that was shocking to say the least as it mentioned something made of soul magic and another made of a strange red magic fighting, but the facility was the grounds of a massacre.

Hybrid was creeped out and curious on what the red cloud was made of. He saw footage of the thing attack without warning against the clouds of soul magic but was shocked when the soul magic creatures failed to attack it as their attacks just flew through it.

Hybrid then started the system back up pushing the event to the back of his mind. There was a massive shake as the facility violently starts back up. The atmosphere starts to clear up and lava starts to cool almost instantly as the advanced machines return to full function.

"Hybrid, look at this. There's more on the Night Fury thing it's one of two primary containment facilities and more detail on the other facilities." Ava said and Hybrid rushed over and saw it held more information, but it seemed more intact than the information in the Archive.

Hybrid replied, "I think the Archive might be a tad corrupted unfortunately."

The two then make it the landing pad and could breathe normally and it was cooler. Hybrid looked at the fortress and saw the lava flowing through pipes and that there was a lava reservoir that had overflowed. Ava shapeshifted and Hybrid mounted her, and they left.

Before they got to the Edge, they saw Toothless and Hiccup. Ava elegantly moved to fly alongside Toothless. Hybrid cleared his throat which snapped Hiccup out of his thoughts.

"Hey, how was your time finding Viggo and the Dragon Hunters?" Hybrid asked with interest.

Hiccup looked at Hybrid and answered, "Not great, his illusive and hard to follow, but something strange happened Today as well."

Hybrid perked up at that and asks, "What happened?"

"Dagur helped me escape the Dragon Hunters." Hiccup replied with as much confusion within reason.

Hybrid wasn't really weirded out mainly because Heather probably knocked some sense into the grunt. The Edge was showing up on the horizon and they were approaching fast. Hybrid then notices a scar on Toothless tail indicating he was shoot.

Hybrid asked, "How did you get that scar Toothless?"

Toothless replied "Dragon Root arrow got me."

Ava and Toothless land and the other dragon riders came up. Astrid looked none too pleased with Hiccup but with enough relief that he was safe to balance it out. Hybrid smiled to himself as he dismounted Ava and she shapeshifted.

The whole group went to the Club House and shared their day. Hybrid and Ava left out some details which Mitne Sventar was suspicious about but didn't press. Toothless was enjoying his Sushi Rolls and a bit of Caviar then got depressed when he finished them and pouted in sadness which Hybrid and Ava chuckled out.

Night fell and everyone went back to their place. When the two entered Dragon Ridge Hybrid flipped the circuit breaker and the fortress turned on without draining the emergency power. He then wrote additional notes on the Night Fury thing and the other facilities as well as drew up plans for Toothless's new armour but needed to locate the materials was the more difficult part.
