So Santa can arrive!

One-shot. Lucy/Wyatt, post Christmas Miracle finale.

Christmas Eve with the Logan twins. I've just finished Timeless and I wanted to write a Christmas one-shot.

I do not Timeless or the characters.

Amy and Flynn were 5 years old and full of energy, especially because it was Christmas Eve. They both wanted to stay awake to see Santa. They were running around with excitement. Lucy and Wyatt loved their daughters more than anything in the world, but they were both very tired.

Lucy was the first to lose her patience. "Amy and Flynn Logan- sit down!" The girls looked at her wide-eyed and Wyatt glanced at his wife, wondering what she was going to say. "Girls, Daddy and Mummy are really tired, so how about you go to bed and we'll see you in the morning?"

Amy was the first one to start to cry and she ran to Wyatt, wrapping her arms around his legs. "Daddy!" She cried and Flynn started to cry, too, except she ran over to Lucy, raising her arms to her. "Mummy, Mummy!"

Sighing, Lucy closed her eyes and reproached herself for being so harsh with her daughters and she was grateful when Wyatt took Amy into his arm and Flynn into his other arm and said, in a gentle voice, "Amy, Flynn, say goodnight to Mummy and I'll tuck you into bed?"

Once they were in their room, Flynn asked, "Is Mummy upset with us, Daddy?"

Wyatt sat down on their double-bed, thinking about how to explain it to the twins. "No, sweetie. Mummy isn't upset with you. Mummy sometimes finds Christmas hard." He smiled at Amy. "We told you you're named after Mummy's sister? That's why Christmas makes Mummy said sometimes. Now, why do you two need to go to sleep?"

Amy titled her head, with wide eyes. "Because Mummy told us to?"

Smiling, Wyatt replied, "No, sweetie. You need to sleep so Santa can arrive." He stood up and kissed both of them. "So, close your eyes and, when you wake up, Santa will have been here."

Downstairs, Lucy was feeling guilty for how she had talked to Amy and Flynn. Amy, her sister, had loved Christmas. She had made the decision not to bring her back, but that did not mean that she didn't miss her. Wyatt's voice interrupted her thoughts as he sat down next to her, "Don't worry about it. They'll be so excited tomorrow morning."

Lucy rested her head against her husband's shoulders. "I guess. I didn't think I'd miss her so much." She raised her head and asked, "Amy and Flynn were ok?"

With a soothing smile and his blue eyes shining, Wyatt replied, "Ma'am, they were fine." He paused, then asked, "Isn't there another Christmas tradition we need to take care of, Mrs. Logan?" They both chuckled and, looking into each other's eyes, kissed passionately.

The sound of tiny footsteps interrupted them as the twins walked into the room, cautiously, holding their toy dogs. Flynn held her toy to her chest and asked, "Mummy, Daddy, can we sit with you, please?"

Never taking her eyes from her daughters, Lucy nodded and smiled and Amy and Flynn jumped onto the sofa, between their parents. Lucy put her arms around them, holding them close. Her eyes met with Wyatt's and she whispered, "All that matters is right now. Us. The four of us." She smiled as she addressed the twins, "And you girls need to be asleep so Santa can arrive!"
