Renesmee POV:
So these were the hollow halls that Mom and Dad walked when they first met?... How in the world did they fall in love in a school like this? Eveythings just seemed so bland, dull, uninteresting, which I guess makes sense being a small town high school after all. At least it smells better then Seth I'll give it that, but I expect he'll get his dog stence all over somehow. No matter to me though cuz that puppy won't be the only supernatural being at this school!
I may be a freshman but I promise before the end of the year Forks High will be praising the name Renesmee Clearwater! (Still sounds weird out of my mouth). High School can't be too different from all those shows and movies I watch right? This may be this hybrid's first real school but that won't stop me!
First thing's first…. friends. Seth's a junior so I can't really rely on his apparent "good looks" to save me, but it's not like I need his help! No one in the world could reset being my friend!
It just so happened a group of girls that look my physical age were talking in a small group in front of a classroom. I heard some of the conversation thanks to my hearing be above human level and figured they were talking about what they did over summer. I can do that too, so I fixed my hair a bit and flanted out my dress and made the first few steps to make some normal friends.
"Hi I'm-"
'RING'
Before I could even get a world out the dang bell rang and without a passing glance the groups of portanal friends were gone. Darn. I thought when mom first got to here she was mobbed? I'm like half Bella Swan why aren't I getting mobbed with attention? No matter what fun is there to life if things come easily to you Nessie?
"You may want to move to avoid being trampled on shrimp." I hear a voice say and to my left I turn to see a fairly tall tanned guy smirk down at me.
"Who are you calling a shrimp!?"
The guy scoffed as he bent down to my level and put his hands on his knees like he was talking to a child with an evil grin on his face. " The little girl who's in front of my locker."
I rolled my eyes as I crossed my arms angrily! "Well you could have just asked instead of insulting my height." I spat out before moving aside.
"You're quite the spitfire aren't you." He said with a mean playfulness in his voice. I decided to ignore the guy and scoffed like a princess with my nose pointed up in the air so to this guy I ment business.
"Barry." The guy said and I could feel his gaze on me. Well…this guy doesn't get my attention.
"Nessie" I say blentinly and walk away without a second thought. Something about that guy just feels off...but why should I care! If he wants to be a jerk then I should just not think about him.
I made my way to my first class on my schedule being math. Hehe my best subject! Being a fastly aging vampire human hybrid doesn't leave a lot of room for elementary and middle school so I had to take a crash course on all the basic subjects before I could pose as a normal high schooler. I'm sure whatever online school Charlie put me on fully prepared me for real school, so I'm not worried!
Walking into a class with people that look my age was like walking into a whole new county. Everything just seems new and shiny, and the funny drawings on the desks helped lighten my mood. With this wave of confidence in me, I took the front set right in the middle of the room to show the teacher I was committed to learning. I picked up a few… Charlie words in the back but paid them no mind as there was no way they could distract me. I wanted to be here and my mind was set.
LET'S DO THIS!
Last period of the day found me in the library and it was quite a walk from the gym which was good because it gave me time to think about my day so far, and my day couldn't be any better!
As I skipped down the whole I gained the looks of some boys with the same faces that most of the un-imprinted doggies make to women. Key words some…. as others kinda laughed as they passed me. I paid them no mind as it was girls that I skipped by that held more interest for me. It seems that my nickname is 'that the girl' normally followed by something I did today. Like when I decorated the boring looks with bright stickers and toilet paper to help spice up the place, or when I tried to start a musical number in the lunchroom, or when I threw that dodgeball in some boys face because he was taunting me.
Either way I was gaining popularity and it was a nice bubble feeling as my nickname went around the school. I just had to get my real name in gear before I make big steps.
A smell of old wood, stuffy perfume, and paper signaled that I was in the library. It was not too big, maybe about double the size of my who downstairs part of my house. In front of the front desk were a few round tables filled with loose books and papers each with four old looking chairs around them. Bookshelves lined the back and side walls that made their way down to the middle of the room until it made a nice walkway to the back. A few outdated looking computers sat in the back of the room that seemed untouched for a hot minute.
"Excuse Miss you should be in class by now." I looked to my left to the main desk to find a nice looking elderly black woman in the best looking grandma clothes I have ever seen.
"Hi! I'm Renesmee Cul-Clearwater. I have a class here." I told the liberian as I handed here my schedule for proof. Her face of concern turned to a smile that belonged to a grandma that just made a fresh batch of cookies for her grandchildren as she looked over it.
"Ohh I'm sorry dear. I'm . Nice to meet you Renesmee!" She said her voice light as she extended out her hand.
"Nice to meet you too! But please just call me Nessie!"
"Really? What kind of family names their child after a monster?!" said a tad bit concerned as she wobbled her way around the front desk.
"The type of family that loves me!" I answered with a chuckle and earned one from too.
"Well, I guess that's what family is for. Now come on I'll introduce you to your other classmate."
I nodded as she led me to the back of the library. As we got closer I noticed the sound of another girl in the back softly humming to herself. From what I could tell as she bounced back and fourth placing books back onto the self was that she held a lighter shade of black skin then and her jet black hair had a few purple strands that failed to blend in with the rest of her hair.
"Dianna sweetheart! Can I borrow you for a moment?"
The girl I know knew as Dianna shot up and took her off her earphones as she turned to meet us. Dianna stood a good five inches taller than me but was almost the same height as .
"Dianna I like to introduce you to our new helper Nessie. Nessie this is Dianna, my ex-only student and my granddaughter."
Dianna smiled and extended her hand for a handshake. "Nice to meet you. It's rare for grandma and I to have any help at all. It's kinda like…. never happened before." Her voice was just the right mix of low and high pitched.
"Likewise! I'm glad to be here!" I said with my own gleaming smile and took her hand.
Once introductions were done left Dianna in charge of teaching me the ropes of librarian assistant. Since it was my first day Dianna walked me through reselfing, book placement, the system, and all that zazz. Now all that was left was to help her short out loose papers.
"Thanks again for choosing this elective. It means alot to me. I would expect not many people ,much less freshmen, remember that we have a library" Dianna sounded touched that I was here.
"No thank you for putting up with me! I'm still a bit new at the whole school thing. I was homeschooled after all!"
"Really? Must be hard adapting to being in person huh?"
"You bet! But I think it will all work out. I'm already gaining a reputation as a comedian. I told my math teacher that Xs and Ys were letters and did not belong in math! Then the whole class laughed."
Dianna gave a slight chuckle before covering her mouth to keep her laughing in. "You ARE funny Nessie! Just….. make sure you don't crack those types of jokes too much alright." Strangely, the last part sounded a bit like a warning, but I nodded my head in agreement anyway.
"How about you? How's your first day?"
Dianna shrugged her shoulders. "Fine I guess. I mean this is my senior year while at the same time my first year here at Forks so I honestly can't say too much."
"You're not from Forks?"
"Na. I spent most of my life over in New York. My dad had a great position as a doctor there but my grandma had an okay job here. Then one day last year I guess Dad got tired of New York life and moved us out here with grandma, as he took a job at the local hospital here after the head doctor left."
I couldn't help but smile. I wonder what Grandpa Carlisle is doing now? Maybe he took the job Dianna's dad left in New York, I mean that's where he went when Dad first broke up with Mom. Plus, what reason did Dianna have to move here, cuz to me it just seemed so sudden. Well whatever the reason, it brought me to my first friend.
For the love of….. whatever Seth says in place for God! What is tacking that darn puppy so long?! Half of the parking lot is almost gone and I put too much time in this outfit to put it through a run through the woods!
"Hey."
"Don't 'hey' me! What took you so long!"
"Sorry! I was just….. hung up on something that's all." Seth defensively said, his eyes trying to avoid mines, while I watched his hands fidget with something in his pocket. It didn't take vampiric super powers to know he was hiding something. But I doubt I can get much from him and a strange honey sent from him. So I best drop it.
"Fine! Just make sure you're not late next time or I'll cut your tail off!" I threatened as I wrapped my arm around his waistband in a one arm hug. Seth just chuckled as though one arm around my shoulder.
"Sure, sure." Was all he said as we made our way to the rust bucket of a truck. All the while I couldn't shack the feeling that something big was gonna happen.
