Chapter 30 - Hatred

~X~

Harper had been in a bit of a slump lately, she had imposed this upon herself by keeping herself locked up in her bedroom at the manor and today was actually the first day that she went anywhere near school since she had been kidnapped. Her grades had all but plummeted even with Tyler's help and now she needed to pull herself up by her bootstraps to get back to normal.

Her nightmares and visions continued, but in a horribly messy manner. She saw multiple different outcomes on vastly different issues plaguing Mystic Falls. Nothing seemed to be set in stone like it used to be, now everything was up to minor changes to spiral out of control. Elena and all of Harper's best friends could die, on the other hand Stefan and Damon could die… well everyone could die in one way or another. Everything was a mess.

Harper also looked like a mess, if Carol had seen her sneak out this morning she would surely faint right then and there. Her dark hair in a messy bun, her clothes the same ones that she had worn that entire week. There was no way she smelt like roses.

Going to the Grill for lunch felt like a huge task for her, and feeling particularly unhinged, she kept looking over her shoulder as if she could be attacked at any moment. She just had this feeling that leaving her bedroom was a really bad idea. Seeing Bonnie walking towards her made her sigh in relief.

"Hey" Bonnie said and hugged her tight, Harper felt as if she could cry. She and Bonnie hadn't talked in ages, and they kept diverting down different paths in the supernatural world.

"Hi" Harper said, almost having tears in her voice "Gosh I think I might be crying" She said and let Bonnie go before rubbing her eyes aggressively.

"You look terrible" Bonnie huffed, brushing away something invisible on Harper's shoulder before gripping her friend's shoulder hard as the girls both laughed. Bonnie felt like a failure seeing her friend like this, she had been so preoccupied with all this Klaus mess that Harper had simply fallen through the cracks. Which led to the conversation she needed to have with the seer today. She needed Harper on her side.

"I need your help" Bonnie said, which made Harper sober up really fast. Harper's powers reacted to that quickly, and her eyes turned white for the first time in a long while. Bonnie gasped and looked around them to see if anyone would see them. But they were in the clear. Harper came back to it within a minute, shaking her head furiously while backing away from her friend.

"I won't hurt them Bonnie" Harper hissed, looking around to find Dr. Martin actually lurking around the park, edging closer to them to talk to Bonnie. She had no idea if Dr. Martin and his son knew who she was or if Elijah had told them about her. But she didn't want to bother, the things she saw Bonnie wanting to do was enough for the teen to want to go back to her room.

"But they are working for an original, they could be a real danger to all of us" Bonnie hissed, gripping Harper harder to make her see the dire situation that they were in right now.

"You mean Elena, they could hurt Elena" Harper said with a raised eyebrow.

"Harper-"

"No Bonnie, I have seen the road you want to take. You are going to lose so much if you don't let them be and trust them" Harper said and shook her friend's hands away from her. The girls were both visibly upset.

"This is useless, are you working for Elijah too? After everything that he has done to you and-" Bonnie got more and more aggravated, Jeremy who was sitting on a bench not far away from them saw this and started to move towards the girls.

"Elena left me with him," Harper snapped, looking at Bonnie to see what her reaction would be. To her great surprise, she seemed genuinely shocked. She guessed Elena hadn't told everybody the full story.

"What?"

"Your darling best friend knew exactly where I was when her boyfriend went to get her and left me with him. I know his reasons, I know Klau's reasons for this ritual to come to pass… what I don't know is your reasons for violence and protecting the girl who kinda killed your grams'' Harper said, knowing that it was the lowest of low blows to go after Bonnie like that, but she needed her friend to see the truth. Bonnie, stunned, didn't know what to say.

"Harper!" Bonnie finally cried out as her friend stated to walk away from her.

"No Bonnie, good luck with your plan.. don't come crying to me later when I have warned you" Harper said, nodding to boh Jeremy behind Bonnie and Dr. Martin not far behind. She felt for the father, and knew she needed to start planning to get his daughter back to him.

Later that night

"I can't believe Bonnie'' Caroline huffed as the girls walked together to the blonde's car. Harper had stayed with Caroline for the rest of the day, begging her friend to help her with homework at the library. They had parked on the street earlier that day, as the tiny parking lot had been full. This left the girl to walk down an empty street alone, Harper immediately knew something was going to happen as almost sprinted to the vehicle.

"Me neither, I just want to get back home and-" Harper said, but stopped immediately when she saw Jules behind Caroline's shoulder. At Harper's pale face, Caroline turned around to face the werewolf.

"Harper? Harper Bellrose?" Jules asked, she obviously knew who both Harper and Caroline were. But she needed to stall them long enough for Brady to get there unnoticed.

"Yes?" Harper said, opening her door to the car. Ready to get the hell away from her. Her head was pounding, the voices were back and was assaulting her head with different outcomes to the impending events.

"You know who I am… right?" Jules said, stepping closer to Caroline but kept her gaze firmly on the seer. Harper looked at her friend, trying to signal for them to leave quickly, but Caroline was in vampire defense mode. A sudden flash of forewarning struck Harper, turning quickly to see the werewolf behind her.

"Get away! Caroline-" Harper screamed, hoping people at the more populated street not far away could hear them. Caroline, not realizing what was happening, was ready to attack Jules to make them able to cape when she was sprayed in the face with vervain.

"Urgh!" Caroline grounded, toppling over her car to shield herself from the onslaught. Harper had been taken firmly by the guy behind her when suddenly a third werewolf stepped out of the shadows.

"Caroline!" Harper screamed again when the man, without a flinch or hesitation shot her friend in the head. Harper screamed until she too was hit in the back of her head, slumping forward while becoming catatonic from the horrible scene she had seen. Her mind slipped away into a hazy fog. Letting the voices take over.

Brady's trailer

Some time later

Caroline was fast to awake, in a horrible panic, the vampire discovered that the bullet was still lodged into her skull. Screaming out in agony, she had no choice but to pull it out. It hurt like hell, before finally her super healing ability kicked in. Finally calming down somewhat, Caroline realized that she and Harper were in a small cage, and that her friend was still unconscious.

"Harper… Harper!" Caroline frantickly moved the girl's body to lie on her back and gasped as she saw Harper's eyes glowing white.

"I see you got the bullet out" The creepy guy in the corner of what appeared to be a trailer said. "That was… nasty"

Caroline grimaced at the gross wolf before continuing to check up on Harper.

"Don't worry about her. She has been like that for a while now. We haven't touched her… yet" The guy said, kneeling by the cage to scare Caroline more. The blonde was determined to do everything in her power to get Harper and her out of there.

"I got lots of wooden bullets, other toys" The werewolf said with a smirk, "It's gonna be a long night for the two of you"

Lockwood Manor

"We will never be friends, we can have peace.. that's about it. Now get out of my house" Tyler stated as he stared Stefan Salvatore down, the vampire had come to the manor earlier to reconcile, but it wasn't working.

"I don't know what else to say to you" Stefan sighed, "I'm sorry-"

"Have you said that to Harper?" Mason cut in, raising his eyebrow with a drink in his hand. It was the only way to hinder him from starting a brawl with the vampire.

"I came back to this town because I wanted a life, I wanted to exist where I could have friends and where I could build a family" Stefan urged, "You have that already, I am just starting my life"

This wasn't really working, the pack just wanted him to leave them alone at this point. With the moonstone hidden away from everybody, there was no way that he would trust in anyone besides family. Suddenly, Mason's phone buzzed. It was Harper's caller ID.

"Hey, everything okay?" Mason asked, knowing that she and Caroline were about to come home from the library.

"That depends, how badly do you want to keep her alive?" Jule's voice echoed from the wolf's phone. Mason immediately put it on speaker.

"Jules?"

"Hi Mason, you guys made a huge mistake… this is my revenge really" She gloated, knowing that she had the one thing that could really rally up the new Mystic Falls pack.

"Don't you dare touch Harper" Magnus stated, his chest puffing up in anger.

"Oh we haven't touched a hair on her head yet, can't say the same about Caroline" Jules said, knowing this would rally Tyler and Stefan on as well.

"You bitch" Tyler shouted, making Mason huff out a laugh like the true immature man that he was.

"Funny" Jules was not amused.

"Where are they?" Stefan asked, wanting to save Caroline, who he had gotten quite close with as he trained in vampirism 101.

"Right by my side, want proof?" Jules asked, the sound of opening a cheap metal door echoed through the speaker.

"They need proof" The men heard, before frantic rustling and voices were heard through the line. What the men didn't know was that Brady at this point had become extremely facinated by Harper's glowy eyes, not knowing what they meant, and aimed his gun towards the teen.

"Harper!" Caroline screamed, trying to shake the girl to hide behind her. "No, no no no… shoot me instead!" She pleaded, but to no avail, Brady shot Harper in her leg.

"Aaaaah!" Harper screamed out, it was the single most horrible sound that both the assailants and the pack had heard. Even Stefan felt sick to his stomach.

"I don't think she heals the same way as a vampire's right?" Jules asked, trying to stay tough when she really felt off. Brady was way worse than she thought.

"Hurt her again, and you're dead!" Magnus roared. This is what Jules wanted, to hear him cry out like she had done.

"I hurt them again, and they are dead"

"What do you want?" Mason asked, looking at Magnus who paced the room impatiently. The man was out for blood.

"A rematch, I'm going to kill Magnus Rivera for what he's done to my pack" Jules said confidently, as she had several tricks up her sleeve to get what she wanted.

"The clearing by Wickery Falls, you have 20 minutes until they die" She then said and she head groans and crying coming from the van, "Maybe less, Harper was shot in her thigh, I forget how long it takes before humans bleed to death" And with that, she hung up.

"Let's go" Magnus said, not waiting for the others who moved quickly to follow him.

Wickery Falls

Around Midnight

"So, how many vampires are in this town anyways?" Brady asked a terrified Caroline, who had gotten several more bullets fired at her. She didn't answer, she just held Harper's hand as she tried to get her friend to come back to reality.

"You are going to die" Harper suddenly said, looking straight at Brady, her voice a voice of thousands, her eyes white and glowing still, "Your guts, littered all over the forest floor, your blood staining your trailer"

Brady got obviously upset and freaked out by her outburst, as anyone would when hearing they were going to die. "What are you?" He asked, one again pointing his gun at Harper.

Caroline turned to cover for her friend. "She is psychic, I wouldn't touch her while she is like that"

"Why not?" Brady's grip on the trigger tightened, not caring if he hit Harper or Caroline.

"She is gonna say worse things than that" The blond vampire stated, somehow convincing Brady to go outside to get some air.

"Harper, are you alright?" Caroline asked, trying once more to get her friend to snap out of her craziness.

"Yes, she is alright… we are protecting her from harm" Harper said, not really being Harper at all. "Jonas is on his way"

"Okay" Caroline gulped, still pushing through her own pain from being shot so many times "Okay we will tackle that when we get to it" She laughed a bit, telling herself everything would be okay. Outside the trailer, Jules was doing the same thing.

Knowing that several people was approaching their camp, she looked into the dark forest and said, "I know you are out there"

Out of the darkness, all men that had heard the conversation at Lockwood manor stepped proudly towards the light of the campfire. "Where are the girls Jules?" Magnus said, while literally growling like an animal.

"Locked up tight" Jules said, rather proud of herself that she kept her composure while being confronted by the man who had halved her pack in population.

"Let them go," Mason said, looking equally furious to the rest of the wolves beside him. Tyler was impatient, and really to blow a fuse at any moment. Stefan realized that the situation could really get out of hand, his only goal today was to have the Lockwood's on his side and to get the moonstone. An all out war was not on his agenda, but with the scent of Harper's blood filling the air Stefan too started to become rather antsy. "This doesn't need to get any messier than it already is," Mason then added.

"Shut up, you betrayed us" Jules growled, in an effort to be fierce and angry her voice and face faltered. She was sad, very very sad that it all had to come to this.

"And you need to leave town," Mason said.

"No one else has to get hurt," Stefan urged, clenching and unclenching his fists and jaw to silently meditate himself to a state of control.

Jules saw the vampire's state and wondered if he would lash out at the human in their trailer. She needed to focus, she needed to complete her quest for revenge. "I'm not leaving without his head on a stick" she said while pointing at Magnus. The huge man just huffed, as to accept the challenge from the crazy woman.

"My brother the peacemaker" Damon said, the dark haired vampire was quick to stay away from Magnus, who was edging closer to him as soon as he arrived. Maybe killing his daughter wasn't the best idea he had while having his emotions switched off.

"Hold on daddy wolf, I'm here to save the day. Including Harper" Damon said, stopping the alpha in his tracks. At his daughters name, Magnus realized what was more important at that moment, and let his daughter's murder go… for now.

"Since they got here before me, I wanted to see what the peaceful way looked like" Damon said, "before I resort to my way… which is a little bloodier"

"So give us the girls" Stefan urged, but Jules wasn't having any of it.

"I will have them shot if you come any closer" Jules threatened.

"Come on, without a full moon, it's not even a fight and you know it" Damon stated, but soon ate his words as Jules whistled a harsh tone, making the rest of her pack come closer to them. One wolf even had a flamethrower, which was a bit over the top if you asked Damon.

"I'm not so sure about that, tough guy" Jules stated while flicking her gaze between her guys, "Come on Magnus, show us what you got"

"I will kill you Mason, you traitor!" Brady shouted, but Mason didn't even flinch. He had always hated that freak.

"We can take them," Tyler said, getting ready to slay those who hurt his sister and his girlfriend.

"I'm not sure about that," Damon groaned, looking around himself to get an accurate count of the guys he needed to kill.

"Well then" Mason shrugged his shoulders, and moved with his family and the two vampires into the fight with vigor. Tyler quickly broke rank and headed into the trailer as the other's, who were much stronger than him, fought on.

The smell of blood and body odor filled Tyler's new heightened senses. Besides Brady's nasty smell from every inch of the place, many other smells from bodily fluids to perfume came from the cage area that didn't belong to the girls residing in it. They weren't the first girls who had been trapped in there, this made Tyler want to puke. "Tyler! There's a latch.. there's a latch on the door and I can't get to it" Caroline cried, showing him her reach once more so that he could see. The teen moved fast to help, and started immediately to try and get them away from this hell.

"Harper is hurt, I couldn't protect her" Caroline cried, moving a bit even with her wounds still not fully healed to show his sister to him. Harper had long since closed her eyes, but it was a comfort that her chest was still moving.

"Shhh, it's okay.. she is breathing" Tyler said as he caught his girlfriend as she exited the cage, he looked onto Harper, almost glad that was unconscious. "She's fine"

"Let's go" Caroline urged and knelt down to pick up Harper, she fell limp in her arms and weighed nothing more than a feather. They made it outside to the forest, ready to split up and run away from the scene when suddenly the Florida wolves started to buckle down in pain.

"Urgh!" Jules, who had just been lifted above the ground in a chokehold by Magnus, started to groan and scream, shocking the alpha into dropping her on the ground.

"Finally" Harper sighed in her daze, before going silent again. Both teens looked towards a new car that had arrived, and the witch that had stepped up to help them.

"Elijah made a promise to Elena. I'm here to see it upheld" The man that Caroline knew was Jonas said, "You need to go" The man urged, and the vampire brother only glanced at each other once before walking away.

"Magnus?" Mason noticed Magnus staring over the remaining living wolves on the ground. The alpha was still seething.

"Which one shot Harper?" His voice was devoid of emotion.

"Brady I think, he was always a sick fuck" Mason pointed to the guy who had been the most aggressive during the fight against them.

"No one messes with my pack" Magnus said and took up Brady's gun, he hated those vile things, and shot the wolf in the head. Twice.

"Thank you for saving us, for saving my daughter" Magnus then turned to Jonas and patted his shoulder. The man smirked faintly before responding.

"From one father to another, it's was nothing"

"If you ever need help, come to the Lockwood manor" Magnus said before heading over to his daughter, still unconscious in Caroline's arms. He took his girl into his arms, cradling her with such care and love.

"Let's get you home" He whispered into her hairline, and the girl snuggled closer to her father.

Elijah's apartment

Early Morning

Elijah had been sitting in his favorite armchair in his dreadful flat with a cup of tea in his hands when Jonas walked in. "The girls?"

"Safe" Dr. Martin said, before walking with quick steps to check up on Luka down the hallway. Opening the door just a tiny bit, he could see his son safe and sound in bed.

"And the wolves?" Elijah asked when Jonas came back to the living room and sat down on the couch across from him.

"Magnus Rivera and Mason Lockwood killed most of them, leaving a message for them to finally leave town" Jonas said, sounding tired.

"Perfect" was Elijah's only response, he knew the man needed some well earned sleep. As Jonas went to bed, Elijah stayed up. He had a feeling something was waiting to happen, and it didn't take long before his phone buzzed in his suit pocket. Harper's caller ID lit up his screen.

"Yes?" He said, knowing that the girl probably had something of value to say and didn't want to pretend that small talk amused him.

"Jules needs to die"
