Felicity sat in her business studies lesson. The teacher was re-capping what they did in the last lesson before moving on. Most of her classmates listened to what the teacher said but a few of them decided to have their own conversation.
"Did you hear about the conference today?" Sinead asked.
"Yeah, shame it's during school time. I wanted to watch it" The person that sat next to Sinead said.
"I don't think they are broadcasting live on TV. It's a closed event," Sinead replied.
"Sinead, would you like to share your conversation with the rest of the class?" Miss Stone asked.
"No" Sinead replied.
"Please listen. The next part of the lesson is important as it will help you with the next part of your written work," Miss Stone said as she turned to the next slide. The title was 'Funding your Business.'
Felicity looked around the classroom and then back to the SmartBoard. It was going to a long lesson.
The Press conference would have started by now. Felicity wondered what would happen.
Outside one of London's many conferences centres, people waited. Members of the press were also present but only those with invites would be allowed in. Among the people that waited, a man in his early 30's could be seen. He had brown hair, brown eyes and wore a smart business suit. This was Conner Brown, one of the many people that didn't like Wolfette and Tawny Owl.
Soon the doors opened and the people that have been invited to the event entered. The room wasn't that big, it had a small table with seven chairs and a big screen. The Prime Minister watched from a screen.
"Good morning, thank you for joining us today. We are here to talk about the actions of Wolfette and Tawny Owl." Conner said.
"What actions? Wolfette and Tawny Owl haven't done anything wrong. They are heroes in my eyes," a lady said. "They risk their lives to save this city, even if they don't want people knowing who they are."
"That's the problem. How can you trust them if we don't know who they are? For all, we know they could be working with Firefly to take over the city. We need them gone and the sooner the better." Connor said.
"Maybe you should take a look at the good things they have done, all the people that have been helped thanks to them," the lady added.
"I thought this was a press conference. It sounds more like a debate between two people" A man said. "You haven't given others a chance to ask questions."
"Still, we don't know how they get their powers," Connor added.
"I don't see why that matters and if this is what this is about then I'm not staying," the lady said as she got up and walked out. Some people followed.
"You can't leave," Conner said.
The people that stayed, a few writers for newspapers and some that had online sites didn't know what to think of the event. They had been to many different types of meetings and events during their career but none of them had been like this.
The window opened and Firefly stood in the light.
"A failed press conference and a host who wants people to listen to him. Now that's perfect for my fireflies," Firefly said as he tapped one of the many fireflies with his wand and sent it out to find its target.
Conner continued with his speech but most of the people had already left. He felt like people didn't want to listen to him. He didn't see the dark firefly as landed on the microphone.
"Reporter, I'm Firefly. I'm giving you the ability to make people listen to and respect you. In return, you will bring me Wolfette and Tawny Owl's Miraculous"
Conner didn't say anything, he just smiled as he turned into Reporter. As Reporter, Conner had orange hair, he wore a red suit with a blue stripe down the middle and his microphone was in his right hand.
"What's going on?" Someone asked. "Where did Conner go?"
"Conner's gone, I'm Reporter,"
The few people that had stayed, ran out of the room panicking. Conner left the room and followed the people outside, causing the people from the media that hadn't been in the building to start filming.
"You are witnessing the arrival of a new supervillain,"
"I'm sorry, I don't remember saying that you could talk. This is my show now" Reporter said.
During lunchtime, Felicity found herself sitting in the Sixth Form room with Mia and her new friend Jess. They were talking about the press conference that had taken place that morning.
"No, way, your Mum is so lucky. I can't believe that she got to attend the event today" Mia said.
"Your talking about the press conference?" Felicity asked.
"Yeah" Mia replied.
"My mum is a big fan of Wolfette and Tawny Owl. She doesn't like what some people are saying about them" Jess said. "She loves your blog, Mia. My whole family does."
"Thank you," Mia said.
A few seconds later, their phones went off. It was an alert from the news app.
"There's a new supervillain, he calls himself Reporter" Mia said as she showed them her phone. "Shame we can't leave. Guess I will have to miss it this time."
"That's a good thing, Mia. It's dangerous. Don't worry, I'm sure Wolfette and Tawny Owl will take care of it" Jess said.
Felicity needed to get away from her friends so she could transform but it would also mean missing English again.
"I'm just going to the toilet," Felicity said.
"I was heading that way anyway. We can walk there together" Jess said.
"Ok," Felicity said.
Felicity entered the girl's toilets and waited a few minutes before checking for other people. The room was empty. She let her Kwami out of her blazer pocket.
"Time to transform," Felicity said, "Rikki, Paws Out"
Ben was in the canteen when people started talking about a new villain. He made sure that no one followed him and found an open store cupboard that was used to store textbooks. It was empty. He let his Kwami out of his pocket.
"Not more textbooks, don't you have enough at home," Oona asked. Ben didn't answer the question.
"Fireflys causing trouble again," Ben said. "Oona, let's fly"
Reporter had moved on and was now heading towards the location of the Prime Ministers house. Felicity knew this as her whip allowed her to access the internet. She also knew that they would have to be careful around that area of the city.
"Seems like Firefly decided to use the press conference to his advantage," Tawny Owl said as she landed next to Felicity/Wolfette.
"Yeah, we have to stop Reporter from reaching his target. It won't end well for us if he does" Felicity/Wolfette said.
"Reporter" Felicity said.
"Ah, the famous Wolfette and Tawny Owl have shown up to play," Reporter said. "Firefly wants your miraculous."
Reporter decided to use his powers to control the TV's in the area. The screens lit up with a picture of him.
"Now, the whole city will see who you really are," Reporter said.
"I don't think so. Firefly is using you, he won't give you anything in return," Felicity/Wolfette said.
"Your lying," Reporter said.
"We're not but if you want to do things the hard way then so be it," Tawny Owl said.
Reporter and the two heroes started fighting each other, Felicity tried to grab the device he had used to switch the TV on but it wasn't easy.
"I think that the firefly is either in the remote control or the microphone," Felicity/Wolfette said.
It was then that she started to hear the voices in her head. They were giving her hints and an idea came to her. Felicity/Wolfette told Tawny Owl the plan.
"Reporter, your fight is with us, not the government. Leave them alone and we can settle this peacefully. What do you want to know?" Felicity asked.
"Your right. Now to prove that you are telling the truth, remove your Miraculous and give them to me," Reporter said. "That way everyone will see who you really are."
"We can do better than that," Felicity said. "How about you let us feature on your live stream."
"I know what I'm doing, Firefly" Reporter said.
Reporter came over to Felicity who unknown to him had activated her Icy Touch, as he gave her his Microphone, Felicity touched it with her right hand causing the Microphone to turn to Ice. She threw it on the floor causing it to snap and free the dark firefly.
"I free you from evil," Felicity said as she touched the dark firefly with her whip. It turned to dust and vanished.
Reporter turned back into Conner who looked up at the two heroes.
"What happened?" Conner asked.
"Firefly turned you into one of his minions but it's over now," Tawny Owl said.
"I guess I was wrong about the two of you," Conner said. "Thank you for bringing me back."
Felicity's miraculous beeped.
"I have to go," Felicity said. "I'm about to change back."
"See you soon, Wolfie" Tawny Owl said.
Felicity found a safe place to change back and put Rikki in her pocket.
"I can't believe I missed a whole afternoon of school," Felicity said. "Mum's not going to be happy."
A few days had passed since the events with Reporter and it seemed that Conner had stopped writing about Wolfette and Tawny Owl. Instead, he did articles on the work of a local homeless charity and the planned opening of a shop featuring clothes by famous fashion designer Gabriel Agreste.
Felicity felt glad that Conner had changed his mind.
I decided not to give the Prime Minster a name because they don't appear in the chapter, they are only mentioned.
