That morning was bright and airy.

The Fall had arrived and that meant that Kids were running and playing outside. While other children played tag or ninja there were two children who were lounging in the sunlight in a nearby Meadow.

Their small hands intertwined just enjoying the sun on their little faces.

The little girl smiled and turned her head, her blonde hair falling across her face, in front of her eyes.

"It's nice to actually spend some time together, since we are no longer in the same class." She said as she sat up, releasing the boy's hand in the process.

The small boy sat up and smiled brightly, his onyx eyes lit up as he smiled. "Yeah, especially now that I have a bunch of weird girls chasing me and begging for me to play with them." The raven haired boy stuck his tongue out in disgust.

"Sasu-chan I'm a girl." The small child blushed with a small frown.

"Yeah but you're different and not annoying like the others. " He said with a small blush.

The sun was starting to set and the two young children began to pack their bags and dust themselves off from sitting on the grass. The two began to walk home side by side.

"I thought itachi-san was going to pick you up today? I've noticed that he hasn't been around in a while. Is he on another mission?" Akira asked

"No, he isn't on a mission, he was supposed to pick me up, but he has been acting really weird lately. He has been talking back to my father and keeps saying he's busy like training me isn't important anymore. It's kind of scary really, especially with what happened a few days ago. He told my Father that the clan is not important, that it's a waste, not just that the clan thinks he has something to do with my cousin's death." Sasuke frowned as he finally finished telling Akira his problems.

He knows he shouldn't because she wasn't an Uchiha but she was more like family and acted like an Uchiha more than his brother has in a while. Glancing at her he noticed her eyes looked like she was holding back tears.

"Kira-san please don't cry, everything is going to be ok. I'm sure everyone is under stress and that Itachi had nothing to do with Shisui death at all." Sasuke began to wave his hands around uncontrollably trying to avoid the tears from her.

"You know how my father can be." sasuke added.

"I know Sasu-Chan. I just don't like seeing you sad or upset." Akira wiped her eyes before any tear could fall on her face.

Sasuke then grabbed her hand and began to smile as the two started to walk back home.

"Sasuke, Akira." A familiar voice called out as the two children looked back to see none other than Itachi Uchiha.

"Brother you came." Sasuke said with a proud smile.

The two had smiled and walked to the anbu ninja. Itachi smiled at them as he began to walk them both home.

Itachi was hiding his real emotions from the two because within the next few days he would have to do the unthinkable and it would break his heart.

Akira was spending the day with Uchiha because her parents had a very important meeting.

Things never seem to get better with Itachi or Fugaku. Akira now knew what Sasuke was talking about. The two tried to eavesdrop but were caught by Mikoto and sent to go play in Sasuke's bedroom.

The two stayed there and played until night had fallen. Since Akira's parents were still not back, Mikoto decided it best for Akira to stay the night.

The night sky was dark and looming as the wind picked up. The window shutters begun to rattle like someone was trying to break in. The large luminous moon shone through the window into Sasuke's bedroom.

Akira was fast asleep when a small hand came and began to shake her lightly awake. Akira's red eyes began to blink as she began to wake up, rubbing her eyes in the process. She yawned and then looked up at Sasuke.

"Akira, I heard our fathers talking down stairs." Akira cut off Sasuke. "We got into trouble earlier doing that with your brother, why is it so important?"

"They were talking about us." Akira jolted up and looked up at her best friend.

"Sasu-chan let's just go back to sleep, I'm sure it's nothing to worry about. It's just more grown up stuff." Akira yawned. Getting ready to lay back down Sasuke began to speak groggily like he was upset but holding back tears.

"No Akira, your father says you're leaving the village that you're moving and not coming back." Akira's eyes widened as she looked at Sasuke.

"I will never leave you Sasuke. I promise you that. How are we supposed to be the best ninja's in all of Kohana if we leave? We can't let Naruto beat us. We're partners and that contract of us being together forever doesn't mean anything if I leave." Akira smiled and hugged her friend who now was hugging her back.

Sasuke let go of Akira and they both smiled at each other.

"Akira, let's run away and live somewhere else in the country. Let's make our own rules and laws so that way no one can tell us what to do. We can even be better than any clan and be our own hokage." Sasuke was determined not to lose his best friend.

Plus he still hasn't shown her how hard he has been training now that he knows the fireball jutsu.

Akira laughed and gave Sasuke a heartwarming smile. "Wherever you go Sasuke I will follow." the two laughed and drifted off to sleep.

The following day Akira wasn't allowed to go to the academy or step foot out of the house. She tried sending a raven to send a letter to Sasuke but her father had stopped her and told her it was for the best.

Itachi had even visited her home but she was told to go upstairs and to stay put. When it came to dinner, she was so confused with how her parents were refusing to let her go see Sasuke for training.

The moment she mentioned him her mother began to cry and walked up the stairs. Akira's father told her to eat and not that long after her first few bites she began to feel woozy and tired. Her eyes closed and she was in a deep sleep.

Later that night Akira had woken up to a pair of strong arms holding her.

Her small hands clenched the man's shirt. "Oto-San? What's going on?" she yawned out. Her father didn't say a word. Akira began to slowly raise her head and looked around, seeing she was no longer in her house or even the village.

She had noticed there were trees and water like a river of some sort. Akira began to wiggle from her father's arm. He just held her tighter.

"Otou-San what's going on, why are we not home or near the village?" Akira began to panic because her father still didn't answer and her mother couldn't even look at her. Her mind first went to Sasuke thinking of the promise they had made.

"No, please stop, I promised Sasuke I wouldn't leave him. He's my friend, we can't leave, and he needs me!" Akira cries and thrashes around in her father's arms. Her father slowly put her down and gave her a tight hug.

Her nose was runny and her eyes began to be puffy from crying so hard.

"Akira, we can't go back. Kohona is no longer our home, and you can no longer see Sasuke or go back to the village without permission from the hokage." her father's voice was stern.

Akira's heart began to sink and she couldn't believe what her father was telling her. It wasn't true; it was a very cruel joke. Akira's mother had then made it to her side and hugged her daughter as well.

"You see, the Uchihas are no longer a clan. They were trying to rebel against the village, they are no longer a threat to the village, they are no longer...Akira; Sasuke is the only one left. All of the Uchiha are dead. Itachi ...Itachi annihilated the village and only left Sasuke." Her father was at a loss for words.

He didn't know how to explain to his daughter the horror that had happened. Akira was in shock. She couldn't wrap her head around what her father had told her. Itachi was not a murderer. There was no way that he did that. And Sasuke being all alone it wasn't true.

"No, you're lying. The Uchihas are fine, Sasuke is not alone and Itachi is not a killer you're lying!" Akira cried and tried to push her father away.

"Akira I know it's hard to understand but everything I said is true." Akira cried in agony how could her parents just leave in a disaster like this.

How could they abandon her friend when he was in pain or suffering? Looking at his daughter he knew this wasn't the way he wanted her to find out.

Akira had finally broken out of both of her parents' embrace, and started to run as fast as her eight year old legs could carry her. She was running to him to let him know she didn't break their promise that they would still be able to run away together and be the best ninja they could be.

Suddenly Akira was lifted from the ground and was up in the air and was again fighting her father trying to let her go. Trying to break free.

"You can't go back, we no longer belong there. And I'm only doing this to protect you. I'm sorry Akira but we are done with the hidden leaf. We are now mist ninja and cannot be part of a village that is painful and full of snakes. You will not be a leaf ninja." Akira's father hugged her tightly again.

Akira was no longer crying; she was screaming because she was furious how her father could do this to her. "I promised him, I promised I can't break it, I can't." Akira no longer had a voice from her throat being so raw.

Her father put a little pressure on her neck and Akira then again blacked out. As the old leaf ninjas were making their way to their new home. The mist village. While Akira was fast asleep she dreamt of Sasuke.

A friendship like theirs could never be forgotten
