Everyone was following Heather into the forest, to what they assumed to be the hideout of that boy.
"So that boy's hideout is ahead?" Ragnar asked.
"So if it's not the boy, then who is the real thief?" Hiccup asked curiously.
"Everything will become clear once we reach the Sea Gods Palace," Heather assured him.
Astrid was still rather dubious. 'I don't know what they're planning, but I very much doubt there going to help anyone. More than likely, the going to kill us once were deep enough in this forest and then take the gold.'
Fishlegs, on the other hand, was confused. 'I don't know who these guys are, but there's no disputing the fact that we lost a good chunk of our memories. Perhaps retrieving them would answer a good many questions, and so far, none of them actually been violent despite what Astrid believes.'
"Is this place really his hideout?" Chopper frowned. "It seems pretty peaceful to me."
"That's what they want you to think, don't let your guard down," said Snotlout. "I bet he has an army of crazy monsters around here just waiting for the chance to pounce on us."
Chopper panicked. "What? Crazy monsters?"
"Yeah, monsters are known to disguise themselves into their surroundings, and then they sneak up behind you and gobble you whole. When you sail across the seas as many times as I have, you run into plenty of monsters. You become aware of where they're likely to be."
Chopper then saw a large snake lowering itself from the tree directly behind Snotlout. "Behind you, look out!"
"Let me guess, there's a monster behind you?" said Snotlout smugly. "That rig is not going to work on—"
The snake then hissed in his ear, and the two of them began to scream. The snake then wrapped itself around Snotlout, and he began running around the place like a headless chicken chasing after Chopper.
"Get off me! Get off me, please!" Snotlout yelled frantically.
The two of them were so frightened they actually ran off the trail.
Hiccup and the others looked back when they heard the noise.
"What are those two doing back there?" Hiccup asked.
Chopper was running away from Snotlout, believing the snake to be some kind of monster, while Snotlout chased after him so that he can get it off him.
"Get back!" Snotlout yelled. "It's not a monster to snake! Get it off me!"
The two of them running so fast that they tripped over some rocks and then the rolling down the hill until they finally came to a stop in a clearing.
"Finally," Chopper groaned.
Snotlout sat up and found the snake slithered off him. "Guess I show that snake a thing or two. It fled from terror from the mighty Captain Snotlout!"
"Hey, we got separated from the others. What are we going to do now?" Chopper asked.
"Oh, crap," said Snotlout realising the first time of the dilemma.
"Those crazy monsters are going to find us and eat us!" Chopper panicked.
"Oh, I wouldn't worry too much. I was just joking around about that and trying to scare you a little bit. I was only kidding, okay."
Chopper gave a sigh of relief. "It was a joke, good." He then immediately glared at Snotlout angrily. "What are you trying to do, huh? Give me a heart—"
He stopped when the two of them heard rustling in the bushes close by.
"Aww, crazy monster!" Snotlout panicked, grabbing hold of Chopper.
"I thought you said you were kidding!" Chopper yelled.
"Please do not eat me, Mr Monster; eat this delicious reindeer!" Snotlout holding out Chopper.
"No, don't!" Chopper cried.
They then only calm down when they saw stepping out of the bushes was Toothless.
"Oh, it's just that drake swordsman," said Snotlout. "Don't scare us like that, okay."
Toothless just remained silent and looked down at the two of them.
'Great, that maniac decided to come back, wonderful,' Snotlout gulped. 'He seems different somehow; he's not the same as he was back on the ship, and I don't see the twins with him.'
Toothless certainly did seem different he wasn't speaking, and his eyes were devoid of all emotion.
"So, I take it that you've changed your mind, huh?" said Snotlout. "Well, if you agree to straighten up and swear your loyalty to me, I would mind bringing you were long as one of the great Captain Snotlout's cr—" Toothless then walked off before he could finish. "Hey, don't ignore me! Where are you going?"
Chopper then immediately ran after Toothless. "Wait, please, can you tell us where the others are and what happened to those twins?"
Snotlout soon discover that he'd be left all alone, which was the last thing he wanted. "Whoa, come back! Don't leave me out here all alone!"
Hiccup and the others were still making their way down the trail, unaware that they were being watched by the boy.
"Hey! Wait up!" Snotlout yelled.
They all looked down and saw Snotlout and Chopper making their way up the path with Toothless.
"Look who we found?" Snotlout smiled, pointing at Toothless.
"It's Toothless," said Hiccup.
"Yeah, where are those idiotic twins?" Ragnar asked.
Astrid looked at Toothless and could tell something was off. "There's something wrong here."
Hiccup made his way down towards Toothless. "Decided to rejoin the crew, huh? That's good, and all the what happened to the twins?"
Toothless' eyes then flickered when they saw Hiccup.
"Watch out?" Ragnar yelled.
Toothless then drew his Light Fury and is quick as a flash, swung it at Hiccup. Everyone's eyes widened in horror because it looked as if he had just sliced off Hiccup's head.
"He sliced off his head?" Fishlegs screamed.
"Not quite," said Astrid.
It turned out that Hiccup had leaned his head forward just in time to avoid the sword, though if he had been a few seconds slower, it would have been sliced off.
"Okay, that was a little too close," said Hiccup.
It was then that they heard footsteps and the twins appeared panting.
"It's you guys," said Fishlegs.
Snotlout raised his fists at them gingerly. "Are you going to attack us now?"
"No, you got the wrong idea," said Ruffnut quickly.
"Yeah, we just woke up a few moments ago," said Tuffnut.
"What you mean?" Ragnar asked.
"We were in the midst of having lunch when this little boy appeared, and then everything went black," said Tuffnut.
"When we came to Toothless was gone," said Ruffnut.
"He's certainly not acting like did on the ship," said Ragnar as Toothless drew Moonlit.
Heather's eyes widened. "Don't tell me he's—"
Toothless then suddenly dashed towards Hiccup and swung Moonlit at him, but Hiccup rolled out of the way in time to avoid it. He quickly transformed into his hybrid form and flew up towards the tree just before Toothless took another swing with his other blade.
"He seems to be more interested in me than the rest of us," Hiccup noted.
Toothless then sliced right through the tree, causing it to topple over directly towards Heather and the others.
"It's falling this way!" Fishlegs yelled.
"Backup!" Ragnar yelled as everyone jumped away from the tree as it hit the ground.
"Where's Hiccup?" Ragnar asked.
"Don't worry, I'm fine," said Hiccup as he emerged from the tree's branches. "Any ideas why he's only singled me out?"
"Looks to me like he's under some sort of hypnosis," said Chopper. "I bet that kid didn't."
"Now that I think of it, the boy did mention that Toothless should fight Hiccup," said Tuffnut thinking back.
"Yeah, just before we were knocked out," Ruffnut nodded.
"That's annoying," said Ragnar. "Okay, we all have to work together to stop him."
"No, you guys stay back," said Hiccup. "Heather, take the others and just go on ahead; I'll take care of him."
Heather nodded. "All right then, let's get going."
"No way, he's really going to take on Toothless the Pirate Hunter all by himself?" Snotlout stared bewildered.
"I get it; he wants us to focus on the mission at hand," said Ragnar.
"Right," Heather nodded. "Capturing the boy is our priority; we'll have to leave this to Hiccup."
"You two coming with?" Ragnar asked, looking at the twins.
Twins were rather stunned about Hiccup was going to face against Toothless alone.
"Yeah, we got a few words to say to that boy," said Tuffnut.
"And if I weren't a lady, I would share them out," said Ruffnut.
All of them then began to follow Heather down the trail.
Toothless then dashed over towards Hiccup, who then quickly took to the air to avoid his swipes.
"Plasma Blast!" Hiccup yelled, firing a plasma blast.
Toothless quickly jumped out of the way, and the plasma blast struck the tree, causing an explosion, shocking the others as he dived into the smoke.
"Is that how he's going to stop him, I thought they were friends?" said Ragnar, stunned.
"If someone would be hit by a blast like that, it would probably kill them," said Fishlegs.
"Not Toothless," said Tuffnut. "Believe me, that guy can take a hit."
"Exactly why Hiccup isn't going to hold back," said Heather. "He knows his strength all too well, and he knows that he cannot stop them unless he fights with everything he's got."
'Everything he's got, huh?' Snotlout stared. 'I can't believe I've been travelling with such dangerous people.'
"Now come on, let's hurry," said Heather.
The boy merely smiled at the fight. "I'll leave everything in your capable hands, Toothless."
Hiccup watched as Toothless drew out his third blade. "Three sword style, he is getting serious."
Toothless then moved in towards him, swinging his blade, and Hiccup quickly dodged it. He then used his tail like a springboard in order to avoid the second swing, which sliced through the tree next to him.
Hiccup then opened his mouth. "Plasma…" Toothless then charged in towards him in order to close the distance between. "… Barrage!"
Toothless, however overweight, all the plasma blast he was firing and got in close. Hiccup then quickly dodged and got behind him just when Toothless was a few feet away from him; he avoided all the swings are one of them grazed his cheek. Thankfully thanks to his scales, the blade just bounced off, but Hiccup knew that he would have to get closer take him out.
"Triple Dragon Fang!" Toothless roared.
Toothless then suddenly shot past him, and Hiccup felt massive pain around his chest as Toothless and struck all three blades. If it hadn't been for his scales, he probably would have been dead, but it still hurt.
Heather was still leading the others up the hill, but Astrid lagged behind, not trusting her or Hiccup. When she looked at the rest of the crew, she realised something for the first time.
'Hold on a minute, right here we have a cook… a helmsman… a doctor… two swordsmen… and a navigator,' she said to herself. 'With that crew went with me leading them, there would be no problem saving the ship on ourselves.'
Astrid then came to a stop. "Hey, guys, wait. Are you really going to go along with what that woman tells you? She's a pirate remember, and pirates are all the same. They are greedy, devious and sneaky lowlifes. Don't you get it? Hiccup and this woman had been lying to us from the very beginning; it's about time you realised it.
Leave now and come with me, if you do, I promise you to take you anywhere in the world you want to go. You guys want to go back home to your family and friends, don't you? I know you do? I feel the exact same way; there is somewhere that I have to return to."
Snotlout frowned. 'Now that I think about it, I have no idea what these guys plan on taking me. It might be safer if I travel with parents and these freaks of nature, and I might be able to get her to fall for me.'
"You're right; it's the same for me," said Chopper.
"See… then what's there to think about?" Astrid asked. "Come on, let's go."
"I really can't blame you for not putting your trust in me since you lost your memories," said Heather. "But whether you believe me or not, I ask that you follow me."
"What did I tell you?" said Astrid looking at the others. "Did you hear what she said? She's lying to us!"
"I would hardly call that lying," said Ragnar.
"Listen, we all have dreams that we want to fulfil in the sea," said Heather.
"Don't be so stupid! People can't you just live sailing around chasing their dreams and doing whatever the hell they want!" Astrid snapped.
"Maybe, but tell me something?" said Heather looking back at them. "What could be more important than chasing your dream? Let's chase our dreams together; nothing in the world is more fun than that. If Hiccup was here now, that's what he would say."
Everyone looked at one another.
"We don't plan to go anywhere without Toothless," said Ruffnut.
"Yeah, if she says she can help our friend, we're going to follow her," said Tuffnut.
"Well, I'm gonna go with Astrid," said Snotlout looking at them.
"I'm… I'm staying here with Hiccup," said Chopper.
Astrid stated at him. "But why?"
"Because Hiccup called me his… he called me his friend and accepted me just the way I am," said Chopper. "The exact way that Doctor Olaf and Doctor Gothi did before."
"I know the kind of man that Hiccup is, and I know he would lie about something like this," said Ragnar. "In fact, he's a terrible liar; the only reason I would follow him is to chase after my own dream."
Fishlegs took a deep breath. "I'm staying with them as well."
Astrid stared at him. "Fishlegs? But their pirates, the same kind of people that destroyed our home!"
"No, they're different," said Fishlegs looking at her. "I think you're letting your hatred of pirates cloud your perception. Think about everything that has happened to us over the past few days. I don't know they're telling the truth or not, but the only way to be certain is to get our memories back."
Astrid was completely shocked. "I don't believe this."
"And with that matter been settled, let go on ahead," said Ragnar and looked to the others. "Shall we, guys?"
Astrid and Snotlout just watched as the six of them made their way up the mountain path.
"Dammit all, I guess there's no point going back without my memories," said Snotlout looking frustrated. "Either find some way to get it back."
Astrid then watched as he followed Heather and the others.
She groaned an annoyance and ran after him. "I can't believe I'm doing this."
Hiccup and Toothless were still clashing, and Hiccup had just won his tail at Toothless, but he was able to block it. Hiccup then quickly leaned back in order to avoid his swipes, and the two of them began running down the hill.
They stopped at exactly the same time, and Hiccup swung his fist, but Toothless was able to dodge in and swung his blades. Fortunately, Hiccup used his tail to knock Toothless slightly off-balance, causing him to mix and sliced the tree behind him.
Hiccup was holding back, he did what a fire fully powered plasma blast at Toothless, but he knew he could only hold him for so long. He also had the impression that Toothless' main command was to fight him; otherwise, he wouldn't have allowed the others to escape. He could only hope that Heaven the others could locate the boy with the horn and somehow get their memories back.
"Three Sword Style…" said Toothless bringing his blades in front of one another. "…Triple Dragon Fang…"
Hiccup knew what was coming next and realise that he had to knock Toothless out right now. "Plasma…"
Toothless began spinning his blades around, and Hiccup opened his mouth, and it began to glow purple.
"…Blast!" Hiccup roared, firing a plasma blast.
Toothless then charged in towards him. "…Three Thousand Worlds!"
Both attacks collided with one another, and it was hard to see which one have the upper hand, but then there was an explosion.
Heather lead the others to the top of the hill, where they found a cove.
"Sometimes strange and unexplained things happen here on the Grand Line," said Heather. "Things like sailors find one minute and suddenly losing their memories during a voyage. I'm sure you all have heard stories like that before."
"You think that same sort of phenomena is happening on this island?" Ragnar asked.
"On that stone monument we passed on the way here, there was a story inscribed about a monster who lives off of people's memories. It said that it had made this island it's home. It's practically a legend, but that is the explanation that seems to make the most sense. Since new memories are created every day, this creature must be consuming the memories of the people on this island little by little."
"That kid did say that he had a different taste in food," said Ruffnut.
"Yeah, but who knew that he was talking about memories," said Tuffnut.
"I'm still having a hard time believing any of this," said Astrid folding her arms.
"But there's no denying that we lost our memories, and with them at stake here, we have to do something," said Fishlegs.
"It would seem as if pirates don't know when to quit, do they?" said a voice behind them.
They quickly spun around and saw the boy standing on top of the pillar, looking down at them.
"I'm going to manipulate all of you just like I did with the swordsmen and have you annihilate each other," said the boy removing his hood. He then pointed his horn down towards them, and its eyes began to glow red.
"Quick shield your eyes!" Heather yelled.
Everyone did what they were told, even Astrid in question at this time.
Ragnar, on the other hand, immediately ran towards the boy as quickly as he could.
"Looks like you'll be first," said the boy concentrating on him.
"Not really my style to kick a kid, but…" said Ragnar.
"Wait, it's not the boy!" Heather yelled.
Too late, Ragnar just jumped into the air and was now directly over the boy. Ragnar quickly closed his eyes before the flash of light and then kicked off right out of the boy's hands. The moment he did, blue vapour began to exit from its mouth, and it struck the hillside.
Everyone opened their eyes and saw that the boy was now flat on his back, and seconds later, he shot back up.
"Where… How did I? What happened?" he said, looking around confused.
Ragnar then looked down at him. "Someone stole our memories, was it you?"
The boy looked at him, terrifyingly and ran off.
"Ragnar, that little boy was just being manipulated," Heather explained. "The real thief here is…"
She then turned her gaze onto the horn, and then suddenly, it began to move on its own, and everyone shock.
"Hold it right there!" Ragnar yelled, cutting the horn off. "If you think you're leaving without giving back every last member you stole from us, you got another thing coming. Got it?"
The horn looked as if it was saying something, but none of them understood anything wails.
"'Listen, I went through a lot of trouble to get all these memories,'" said Chopper. "'I'm not giving them back, idiot!'"
Ragnar looked at him. "What?"
Chopper panicked and quickly hit behind Heather.
"The good doctor can understand what animals say," Heather explained.
Ragnar then looked down at the horn or rather the seahorse. "Don't give me that crap, you seafood platter."
The seahorse wailed angrily.
"'You ignorant jerk, I am not a seafood platter; I'm a seahorse. Got it?'" Chopper translated. "That's what he said, not me."
"I don't care what you are, you little thief!" Ragnar yelled, kicking the seahorse into the stone pillar, releasing more blue vapour.
Vapour then started to enter into Astrid, Fishlegs and Snotlout, and they instantly remembered everything.
"I've got my memories back," said Fishlegs.
"So have I," said Astrid and then groaned. "I can't believe I stole from Hiccup again."
Snotlout face darkened as he remembered that he tried to take over the ship and said nothing.
The seahorse tried to sliver away, but Ragnar began chasing it down.
"Hurry up and give us the rest of our memories, or I'll fry you!" he yelled, kicking the seahorse once again.
He kicked so hard this time that it flew towards the edge of the cove, and then Chopper and the twins regained their memories.
"What the? What happened?" Chopper asked.
"No clue," said Tuffnut.
"So what's new?" Ruffnut shrugged.
"I'm not done with you yet, not by a long shot!" Ragnar yelled, kicking the seahorse into the lake and this time, he regained his memories.
"So, does everyone have their memories back?" Heather asked.
"I've just got mine back," said Ragnar. "Unfortunately, we have no idea whether Toothless has his or not."
"You're right; if he didn't, what are we going to do?" Astrid asked.
They then heard the sound of a twig snapping and quickly spun around. There they saw approaching them was Toothless, and there was no sign of Hiccup.
"Toothless?" said the twins.
"Where's Hiccup?" Chopper asked.
"You don't think that Toothless killed him, do you?" Fishlegs gulped.
"No,… this can't be happening," said Astrid horrified.
"This doesn't bode well," said Heather.
Snotlout then pushed past everyone and raised his fists. "I'm not gonna let you harm my girls, not if I have any say in the matter."
Astrid and Heather just groaned in disgust.
However, there was no denying that the real problem was now Toothless and the unknown fate of their captain. Additionally appearing out of the water was the seahorse, and it looked angry as it wailed.
"It's said, 'I still haven't they might trump card yet,'" said Chopper.
